Retribution is the act of inflicting hurt on someone for the wrong that one has suffered at their hands. For Jersi Bradford, there was no definition for payback. After having her heart broken by the man who she’d planned to spend the rest of her life with, Jersi decided to stop getting mad and get even. Blake was a man who was used to getting what he wanted. It just so happened that what he wanted was his first love back in his life. After hurting Jersi in a horrific way, he was ecstatic when she decided to give him another chance. The only thing standing in their way was Mariah, his wife and mother of his kids. Memphis Young knew all too well how it felt to have your happiness snatched away in the blink of an eye. After suffering through a tragedy of his own, he decided that love and happiness were obviously not meant for him. He dated casually without commitment and he was okay with living a carefree life. One chance encounter at the grocery store changed his mind and his perspective. Love fell into his arms and he wasn’t willing to let it go. Old habits die hard and some never die at all. When old flames get reignited and new ones start to flicker, lives are changed and some are completely destroyed. Join these complex characters to see why one is lonely, two is company and three is a crowd.
When revenge is taken to another level!!!! Baby!!!!!!!! This was sooooooooo good!!! I meannnnnnnn …… you never know what to expect when you crack open a book by Chenell but you KNOW for certain it’s a GUARANTEED good time!! Y’all Jersi was playing the long game with her revenge and to a certain extent I was all the way here for it!
Jersi and Blake’s family’s have been friends for generations! Their wealth has tied them together and the friendship dates back as far as their family tree will carry them. It was a given that Blake and Jersi would end up together and that’s exactly what happened! Things were good! REALLY good, until Blake allowed temptation to get the best of him and with the worst person possible😒😐. Years later Blake and Jersi are still forced into the same rooms during holidays and birthdays because their family’s have always celebrated together. The love Blake has for Jersi never went away and is still just as strong as it was years past but his wife is not too pleased about this! Sadly her disdain for Jersi, as if she has any room to be jealous, grows rapidly and bitterly to the point that she begins to taunt her. Jersi tried to be the bigger person but she said when Mariah went low she went to the basements of hell! 😩🥴😈
The twists and turns this book took were INSANE 🤯🤯I did not expect so many little plot twists and boy did they leave my mind spinning 😵💫!! Do yourselves a favor and read this NOW!!! You will NOT be disappointed!!
Jersi & Blake was happy until a trifling bxtch named Mariah came along. Mariah ends up getting pregnant for Blake and Blake has no choice but to marry her. Years later Jersi wants revenge as Mariah likes to point out she’s the wife 😒😒. Jersi knows she could get Blake back & that’s what she does. Jersi was playing chess. In between this chess play Jersi meets Memphis. She initially didn’t like Memphis but grew to like & love him. Dray, Sassy, and Cat were the ride or dies friend you need in life. I loved Dray free ass. Mariah got exactly what she deserved especially after trying to kill her daughters too..like bxtch kill youself not the kids too.Poor Blake but his ass had to go too. Talena getting her ass best was deserved too. Cat & Jersei getting their HEA was the best part especially after what they both been through.
At this point I don’t need to read the synopsis when I pick a Chenell book, I just start reading. She is Another Author who creates movies on pages and I never get the feeling she’s recycling a story because she doesn’t! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Love it, love it, love it... More than a 5 stars⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
WOW, WOW, O.M.G. What a story...👏👏👏🙌🙌🙌 Memphis, man I definitely could get used to one if I could get him. Thoughtful, alpha, badass, boss man, he was the epitome of the perfect man or better known as "he that man!!!" Jersi, man, she really got on my nerves. If it wasn't for the other characters, I would have stopped reading this book a while back. For such fortunate woman, intelligent, strong and beautiful, she truly was a little bit ugly in the book. Don't get me wrong, I agree for a little bit of revenge, but she took it to another level and she was wrong for that. She was so hellbent on revenge that she almost loss it all. Draymon/Drea/Dray, what a character. This was my favorite person ever. Talena, Tabby, Blake, Damien and Mariah as well as Jonah and Juan, can all miss me with the dramatics. They all deserved everything that they got. Felt sorry for Eva and Sassy, but it's all good. That said, this story was so good and so educative as to how revenge doesn't get you nowhere because Karma will always get you, so no need to do any of these things, and leave revenge alone, because all bad things will come to light and be delt with... Great job MS. Parker
I am really starting to love Ms. Chenell Parker's books. They flow do easily and I never get confused about what is happening. The transition from one chapter to the next is effortlessly. I love how realistic Memphis and Jersi are. They fight, break up to make up. I like that even though they both had been hurt they didn't let that stop their love. The entire revenge plot was crazy but like Sassy said everyone had their karma. I liked the topics this story touched on. It's like one of the characters is your friend or yourself a d the story of their lives are being told. Really becoming a true fan!!!
This book was so good, that my attention was held from the beginning until the end. The characters were so well developed that you can imagine and feel each character thoughts, emotions and their way of life. The storyline touched on a lot of real life situations of happiness, love, hate, sorrow, forgiveness and unforgiving, looking for love in all the wrong places, revenge and karma. I like how two of the main characters got together where on a chance meeting in the grocery store of Malcolm and Jersi and coincidental meeting afterwards. There is so much in the storyline of drama, suspense, romance infidelity that keeps you reading to see what is going to happen next. I recommend this book to read and I look forward to reading more books by this author. Cassandra H.
I’m not surprised at all at how amazing of an read this book was Chenell never ever disappoints when you read her work... I loved this books so much from beginning to end I can’t even begin o tell you how much I fell in love with all the characters...everyone played a pivotal role in the story even though I had a lot of ppl that should have been wiped out from the jump they got their just deserts in the end... I loved Jersi and Memphis they were the perfect match and Yass hunny I loved me some Dray he was awesome... Definitely an five star read and I can’t wait for the next great read
I've read this book twice and it just gets better each time!! Love me some Memphis! Jersi almost lost herself a good man behind some get back on Blake and Mariah. Even though Mariah did the same to Jersi she went nuts when the shoe was on the other foot. I'm glad in the end that she met her faith. Blake is a bum!!! This dude is not a man. Too bad for his kids. This book was just fantastic. Chenell can do no wrong.
Chenell P is legit one of the best to ever do it.. This book was so good.. No matter how long her books are I always want more cuz they're jus that good.. I will say Jersi lyin @$$ was making me so mad throughout this book.. 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️ Jus lyin 4 no reason..
Whewwwww!!!!! First of all, that was good!!!!!! I loved me some Jersi, she's in my top favs along with Cash now. But on to these characters. Chile, a bunch of overgrown mfs that didn't know how to accept responsibility for their actions. That's first of all. I couldn't stand Eva, Blake, BJ, Mariah, Talena, Tabby or Marvin. All irrelevant!! As far as Blake and Mariah's marriage goes, boo if Blake loved Jersi so much he shouldn't have been so weak and thinking with his other head. When she came thru on the get back tip it was oh you're playing with my feelings, screw that! If you loved her so much wouldn't be no feelings to play with because y'all would be together. And I'm not mad at Jersi for NATHANIEL ya hemmi???!! Her name should've been storm or Karma cuz baby DID DAT! Had me with my tongue out twerking and laughing like aaaahhhhhh that's what you get. You can't blame Jersi for other ppl not wanting to face the facts. Look at Dray, whom by the way I loved!!!!! As well. But Donovan was a few screws loose as well even tho Drag was open and honest about not only his sexuality but not wanting to settle down with anyone. So you can't blame my girl Jersi and I said what I said. Braxton was running around like that cuz Eva was trying too hard to be perfect child but honestly he was scum. BJ was scum as well because I'm team Cat. Loved me some Sassy as well. Ariel was one of the few good ones too. I loved Memphis and Jersi lord they were too cute. The way she handled Valerie had me so tickled and she wasn't wrong lol. Jonah was trash as well chile. And don't get me started on Lila but anyway good. No. GREAT read and I'm so sad to see it end. P.s I wish Dena And Jacob could adopt me lol
Where do I begin?!!! Oh.... ok so Blake.. hated him! Mariah... hated her and Jersi almost made me hate her too!!! These characters were all different yet shared one thing in common; they all wanted to be #1! Blake was so much like his father it was pathetic and Jersi almost lost Memphis behind her shenanigans. I’m soooo happy Dray/draya and Sassy was there to get her in line. Oh and Draya... honey! His humor and honesty kept me wanting more! His lifestyle seemed so.... taboo but he kept all his boo’s in line. That Malcom really rubbed me the wrong way! He is what’s wrong with gay men nowadays and I was really hoping he would’ve gotten exposed more. Overall... these characters were unlike ANY Chenell has ever written about. I hate to spoil the story but make sure you read slowly because there’s some gems to be caught and some shade that’s going to knock your wig off!!!! And... rip to Mariah hoe ass! She was truly disgusting and I’m sooooooooo happy she died! Whew, glad I was able to say that. Now y’all head over and love on this banger!!!
Jersi really needed to stop holding grudges because it almost cost her too much. Mariah was alright dishing pain towards others but couldn't handle when she was in the same shoes. Lawd knows Blake played himself and regards of what Talena told him he should've just taken his loss. I liked Memphis and was so ready for him to put his mom and Lila in their place. Lila was as underhanded as they came after I found out her connection to Memphis. Someone should've slapped some sense into Jersi but after lying to Memphis she got her act together and realized she'd taken things too far. Dray had everybody wanting a piece of him but I loved his honesty above all. Eva tried so hard to keep up her image and failed miserably. Jonah, Juan and Lila were some worthless individuals knowing how far that were willing to go to hurt Memphis. As crazy as things was, Jersi's need for revenge had things spiraling out of control and everyone involved had to learn that three is a crowd. I was glad when Jersi and Memphis got back on track and were able to focus on their happiness.
Yassss huni! Jersi and Memphis didn't play about theirs, no one is exempt. They know how to get their catch back for real. This story reminds you that real love sees beyond the outside appearance. Being with someone solely for their looks is shallow, but learning a person's true essence is a blessing. I'm so glad that Jersi learns this because Memphis is everything. He is so much more than his external shell. I love he didn't mind checking her, giving her the same energy she gave him, or letting her go because he knew his worth. Dray is everything! I love how he is true to himself and is unapologetically living life on his terms. This story has so many elements to it, and I have to stop before I give away any spoilers. I will happily recommend this book to others.
First of all, I LOVE Dray! Anyway, Chenell girl, you never disappoint! The gift you have for storytelling isn’t something to be taken lightly! Karma was all up and through these pages, ok! Jersi’s growth was definitely something I was happy to see. She made me so mad throughout this book playing games with the two village idiots. Memphis and that ladder girl, whew! Then Mariah, Chile. Alexa, play Mariah like she played her stepsisters. Please and thank you! There are so many points I want to touch but in hopes of not spoiling the book, I’ll just slide in your inbox! This book, like all of your others, was amazingly written! Kudos Chenell, you have another banger in your hands!!
This was a great read BUT a slow read for me. The reason behind that is I truly develop a character in my mind and the story just seems to flow. When this author felt like joking and created a ugly face with a beautiful body and great personality I was challenged to look beyond the surface. In reality we all look at the surface at first glance and sometimes miss a his gem. Jersi called him ugly but that didn't stop her mission. Memphis was the man if I have to be honest, but the face description is not desirable for fictional world. We dream and fantasize through these characters so our reality is we see ugly everyday but this pulls through with a happy ever after.
Jersi and Memphis had a weird start she wasn't attracted to him but this novel just let's you know what's meant to be will be! Blake, Mariah, Lila, Tabby, Talena and Eva were crazy and all were dealt with. Some paid the ultimate price. I guess sometimes we can love someone to much and it makes you do some crazy stuff! I always enjoy a Chenell Parker story, I just hate editing still remains an issue! It never takes away from the storyline, it's just very distracting at times. I will say this book had so many twists and turns, the fights were hilarious and Mama Dena didn't play about her babies! A great read looking forward to the next one!
I’m so glad Chenell is doing stand alones because a bih would be having withdrawals right now. Jersi was pissing me off so bad trying to be so spiteful with Mariah and Blake, sometimes you just gotta let Karma do her work and he thirst for revenge almost costed her Memphis with his Fugly (FineUgly) self. I want Phil and Cat to get a Spin-off though (hopefully a wedding 💒) and i hope Jersi and Valerie get their relationship on one accord. Can wait to see what you come up with next. I won’t reveal too much in this review I’ll save it for the book discussion that I’m sure is soon to come.
There are several things I want to say. Talena had a big mouth and was messy on the slick. I was wishing her Tabby and Jersi could’ve repaired their relationship. Mariah is like a lot of women that can dish but can’t take. Did what happen to her go to far YES I believe it did. Blake in the end played a big part as well with the foolishness. He was weak and his weakness cost him. Now Jersi the star player got on my nervous a lot as well. Did Mariah deserve a lil revenge HELL YEA but did Jersi it let it go to far HELL YEA. When we get hurt let Karma handle it I promise she can dish it best served without us STEPPING IN. Great book.
This book was hilarious. The bond between Jersi and her brother Dray was so strong. Its easy to see how much they care about each other. Tabby was a hot mess. I mean how do u give up ya daughter to make a man happy then get mad when she calls the women that raised her mom and you by your name. Blake and Mariah were just a special kind of crazy. Both just stuck on stupid. Glad that Jersi gave Memphis a chance and that Memphis was forgiving of Jersi's mistakes because that girl is just hard-headed lol. His mama, dad, cousin, and Lila were just as bad as Tabby. Enjoyed the read.
Although, I loved it Jersi wasnt a nice person. In ways she was just like Mariah. They had no reason to play with ppl the way they did. Jersi's actions are what set everything in motion. How could she say she was truly happy with Memphis when she was still playing the part of a calculating manipulator? In reality, she was just as angry as all the other women were. She was just in denial....which makes it worst. She didn't even take responsibility for her actions when everything went down. Anywhoo, I love Memphis, Dray and Sassy. I felt truly sorry for her. Now her story is one, I'm interested in.
I love standalone books. Chenell is a Beast about these books... Blake what a loser, so many good things in his life, and he was weak about his own life. Mariah really needed help, shame that neither of them thought about their daughters.... Eva sure got her Karma for bring so Bourgeois about her family, when she thought that appearances were more important. Loved Memphis he was a boss without having to be showing it. He and Jersi went thru the process of getting to know one another.. So many other things to say but overall I loved the storyline, well written with a plot...
An excellent read and kept you on the edge of your seat from page 1. The story line was great and I especially liked that the leading man was not tall and dark with grey eyes. The fact that he was classified as ugly made me feel that this book was realistic. It seems in most books they make all the black men drop dead gorgeous and that's just not real life. We are all attracted to different types of men and Memphis being a great guy made the story even better for me. Beauty is different for each of us.
In this universe, Chenell Parker is not allowed to write a bad book! I loved "Three's A Crowd," this story with all of its quirky, crazy characters! After shade was thrown her way one too many times by the witch who stole her man, Jersi Bradford was going to show her step sister Mariah better than she could tell her, just how easy it would be to take him back! What Jersi didn't count on was literally falling into the arms of the man who could make her abort her mission of revenge!
You always here people wanna get even but a lot of people don't. Baby Ms. Jersi takes the cake for getting revenge and I don't blame her at all. She was surrounded by so many people who didn't mean her any good and I'm glad most of them got their karma. I loved Memphis and was so glad things worked out with him. This story just had so much to it that I literally could not put it down. This book was so worth the wait and I love a good standalone!
Once again Chenell wrote a banger. I’m never disappointed when I read a book by her. I couldn’t stand Mariah, Blake was just plain ol dumb to me. Talena and Tabby definitely needed a life, they were both annoying. I loved Memphis, but his mama needed I foot to the throat. Eva was also a hot mess and I didn’t like her either. It’s sooooooo much to say about this book but I’m not🤷🏾♀️🤣 JUST READ IT!!! You won’t be disappointed.
Jersi was so dope. Her and Dray were hilarious together. I loved her relationship with Dena. Jersi got her revenge on both Mariah and Blake and boy did they deserve every bit of hurt! Eva was so stupid and concerned with appearances rather than the blessings she had. I was surprised-that her family continued the holiday get togehters with the Harding’s. Those should ended a long time ago.
As always Chenell you did an amazing job. This book keep me laughing and interested from beginning to end. Karma didn't waste anytime taking care of business she dealt with everyone in the own greedy way. I really love the love that Memphis and Jersi had for one another that was really true love. I'm gonna miss them but I'm already looking forward to your next book. Great job keep up the excellent work.
That Mariah wasn’t true trip and she didn’t feel that she did anything wrong with going after other women’s men. Well, she messed up with Jersi. Jersi plotted on Mariah and Blake, but I’m sure that she didn’t mean for them to end up like they did. I loved Jersi and Memphis’ relationship, but his mother was a trip. Dray and Sassy were so over the t at times. Loved this book
The author writing style always protray black love between the main charaters in a positive way.The evolution of the main characters as positive contributers to society is a plus. I especially enjoy how each main character, regardless of what hand they were dealt in their childhood, choose to do better. Ms. Parker steers away from the boring ,predictable ghetto /dopeboy lifestyle which protrays minorities in a negative way.
