Calliope Jones #3

Magic Redeemed

Rate this book
MAGIC REDEEMED is book 3 of the Calliope Jones series of Urban Fantasy novels.

Calliope’s earth magic has fractured.

As her fledgling magical skills begin to dissolve, Odilon Vigne, scion of the Fae clan, arrives on Salt Spring Island to expand his family’s holdings—and to offer Calliope the one thing she has always desired.

Magical beings throughout the world know to defer to Vigne or risk losing their loved ones, their land, or their heads. Where others negotiate, Odilon Vigne plunders.

All Calliope Jones needs is to resist Odilon’s charismatic seduction. And do this while keeping track of five boundary-testing teenagers, a larger-than-life gyrfalcon grandfather, and the druid who pursues her heart.

Magic Redeemed is the third book in the adventures of Calliope Jones. This installment focused more on Calliope and the growth of her magical affinities. Coralie Moss continues to expand the supernatural world of Jones with much imagery and mystery. I love how the “real” coexists with the mystical in a believable way. Calliope’s family and friends are still there supporting her and growing in each of their own fashion. But I truly enjoyed the focus on the heroine. The author has enchanted me with her series. I highly recommend it to anyone that enjoys urban fantasy with a little romance.

I read this book in 3 hours. I was almost immediately pulled into the story and hooked, again, from the beginning. It’s taken me 3 days to think about how I want to word my review, but I don’t think anything I say can do this book justice.
The characters are engaging, smart and sexy. The storyline and surrounding lore is incredibly well thought out, but believable too.
If you love smart, sassy women, supernatural topics and mystery? This book is most definitely for you.
Thank you, again, Coralie for writing yet another beautiful book!

I was SO excited for book III in this wonderful series. I adore Calli and her growing and expanding family. But can I just say the writing in this one is exquisite? The blend of natural magic and real-life nature is just so lovely and gratifying. That's what makes these books so special. It's a mature magic, especially so as Calli keeps growing into it and wielding it, and very just connected to the earth, and I keep saying this, but maturity, which is so special as we often don't respect growth and aging enough. I just absolutely love these books, so much. They are just unique and Calli rocks!

Like the other two books in the series, I absolutely devoured this book. I love how real Calliope is - she's not young, she's not perfect, and she doesn't want to be those things. She's got kids, family issues, and is struggling with finding her place in life after a divorce and allowing a new love into her life. She's so refreshing for readers like myself who are at that point in their lives where they are beginning to make the transition from mother to crone or even maiden to mother. The book was fast paced and well plotted out. It pulled you in and kept you entranced to the end. I love Coralie Moss' writing style and I can't wait to read what she writes next. I was given an copy of this book ahead of time free of charge, but I have also purchased the book since I feel that it's important to support authors whose works you enjoy.

Another action-packed installment in the Calliope Jones series brings Calliope into her own as a witch. As usual, I loved how Coralie Moss mixes domesticity with magical adventure. Calliope is just your everyday mom...who’s actually a witch. In this novel, Calliope learns more about who she is, finds and expands her family, and steps on the path to love. And the costumes! I can’t wait to read more about the magical happenings on Salt Spring Island.

In book 3 about Calliope we see how relationships and abilities expand for the newly self aware witch and her family bound in blood and friendship. This is a series that you need to read from book 1 as each book quickly follows the last and many details tie together. The new glossary is helpful to keep the many characters straight and I was glad that very few new were introduced. Overall it is a well written entertaining novel. It is not 5 stars for me due to the storyline with the main antagonist of book 3, Odilon. It just did not flow for me. The resolution of the conflict made little sense. I thought I missed some detail that would reveal how it went from one extreme to another, but it still did not work for me after reading it over again. I am interested to see what happens next in the series. Many of the side characters pull at my imagination and produce a desire to hear their stories as well. I hope Ms. Moss will explore this avenue.

I really liked this series but it left me extremely confused at the end. For every storyline she ties up there's 5 more still open. There were also a lot of descriptions I found hard to picture and some things that I felt came out of nowhere with no actual explanation until later. I really hope with the 5th book she ties up the storyline of Calliope's ancestry.

What a delightful and intriguing finish to the Calliope Jones trilogy. I can't say enough how much I love Ms. Moss's flair for writing brilliant worlds and relatable characters. She draws you in and won't let go. This entire series is an absolute must-read!!

Storytelling

This series is a nice story, told succinctly and edited in a non-annoying way. Although there is nothing masterful or profound in the writing or the cast of characters the storyline is imaginative and fun. I ended up reading the entire series.
