My kids ages 12, 11, 9, and 7 all love this whole series of graphic novels. They are fun and exciting. No swearing or scantily clad women in these books. The storyline is easy to follow and the graphics are awesome. My kids all thought they were funny- they blew through the whole set in record time. If you want a book that will hold a kids attention then buy these- they’re worth the money. Just keep in mind- these read from back to front like most manga books so if that bugs you they’re not the books for you.
Splatoon is a series of graphic novels based off the video game. My kids ages 13 and 9 love the game and enjoyed this book. They really liked the art and the story line.
I was provided with an electronic ARC through NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
3.5/5 ⭐s: This is the first volume that I found to be a bit underwhelming. V9 features *yet another tournament*, with variations of the type of battles in said tournament. It was very action-oriented & could have benefited from more slice-of-life moments & humor. But I did enjoy the bonus comic about Emperor & the bonus drawings at the end of the manga.
idk it just felt easier to read than the last few. i think the plot is getting kinda old tho, they have so much plot armor its kinda hard to like them as a team cause they never lose even when they should
This review applies to vol 9-12. I read all these in quick succession; the MC and his team finish up the ranked battles with the usual shonen antics. Lots of food puns and pantsing. He then takes on an octoling hero mission then begins the climb up the mountain to get the rare weapon treasure.
Quick read, D likes it b/c he and Andrew like to play the game Splatoons on the Nintendo Switch (and before that on the wii U).
I haven't personally read any of these book in this series, but I read some reviews online and the character's pants fall down often in the books, I guess to be funny, and they "censor" the comic drawing with the squid character... not my favorite book series that he's read, but man can he read through these books in a flash! summer reading.....
