'Walking is a basic right, a basic task and a basic pleasure...allows us to note the changing of leaf colour, a butterfly sunning itself, a piece of rubbish in the gutter'
Picked this up in a charity shop. Nice collection of poems from ten different writers all related to walking in some way. As the writing genius Benjamin Myers once said: 'Walking is writing with your feet'.
From explicit descriptions of birdlife and low black clouds, to the power of nature in permitting us to forget the petty stresses we allow to gnaw at us in daily life. Nostalgic, magical and therapeutic - very good.
