A Million Dollars Worth of Fat by Mona Love : Keisha Long is cute, funny, and is always the life of the party but she is also 320 pounds and lonely. She’s tried dating apps, blind dates, and everything else she can think of, but nothing has gotten her further than the friend zone and more “I like you like a sister” speeches than she can count on all her fingers and toes.

Things change for Keisha when she buys a winning lottery ticket worth 54 million dollars. Suddenly, she has more suitors than she can keep up with. Darius, Wilson, Tony, Keith, and Malek all come knocking on her door, but are any of them interested in the real her, and not just her newfound wealth?

Can money buy you happiness? Keisha will find out—or maybe she won’t.

Complications by Secret Johnson has been slim all her life, but since she had her second

Determined to change things, Secret finds a doctor who is willing to perform weight loss surgery at a reduced price. It’s a deal that seems too good to be true. Unfortunately, she soon finds out that it is, and between the complications and her failing marriage, she is now even more desperate to find a way to reclaim the woman she used to be.

I audiobooked this. There were two stories in one. I borrowed from the library because the descriptions sounded good but the drama was a bit over the top.

In the first story there was a bit of smut, a lot of self loathing and blaming failed relationships on her weight which is probably half true. The men were basically toxic except for one which the story wanted to make it sound like he may or may not want Keisha because of her sudden winnings with the lottery. But she knew the minute she ran into him he was different and so did i.

In the second story, the main character was trying to please her husband by being a good wife, mother, and she ended up getting plastic surgery. But it was botched and It sounded like she almost died. Anyway, her husband wanted a divorce shortly after. He was having an affair and took all the money out of the joint checking account to start a new life. The divorce court was a nightmare and caused the wife to go mad. She ended up killing her husband and the new girlfriend in a crime of passion to prevent david from taking her children. At the end it was unclear if she went to prison or was let free.

The loudness of the audio changed drastically from whispering to yelling and screaming. I had to adjust the volume many times. I loved the voices that were depicting the men though. It was hilarious. The sidekicks, the friend and cousin in each story were both the rational and level headed ones of the stories. I will not be listening or reading any more of these.

I LOVED the firdt story by Mona Love, which was an erotic romance. However, the suspense story written by Katt was wack.

Terrible. These stories were both awful.
The first one the young lady hated herself so much and the entire book was based on her self loathing and then they spent two paltry chapters on her “falling in love”.
The second book was complete rubbish. Like from the beginning to the end it was utterly terrible.
Neither of these authors wrote anything near empowering or encouraging to full figured divas. Save your time. Save your energy. Do not read either of these stories.
Watch paint dry. It will leave you more fulfilled.

For different reasons I can relate to the tales of these two primary characters. Like Keisha in "A Million Dollars Worth of Fat" I've been used by guys and have been in the friend zone. And, I know the horrors of emotional abuse at the hands of a partner, but not as badly as Secret in "Complications."

let's hear it for the plus-sized gals.

I wasn’t a fan of either story. The girl who won the lottery was stuck on stupid, so desperate to be loved that she was blinded by desperation. Her weight could definitely be an issue but it wasn’t the only factor.

The second story with the botched body was just too much. It seemed that it was implied that he paid the doctors to jack her body up. Idk, I wasn’t a fan of the story line.

A great listen of two stories. The first one being the story of Keisha and Andre. Loved the fateful events surrounding their story. Then the second one being the story of Secret and Andre. Many life nuggets in this story. Never love someone better than yourself. Secret gave her all to someone who wasn't worth it, and in the end, lost even her mental health over him. Great stories!

Both stories were okay. I did feel some of there insecure’s as plus size women. I also thought it was a bit extra. Overall I would recommend this book if your until Tyler Perry movie’s.
