Two years after her mother's disappearance, Olivia is the only one still searching, and she'll do whatever is necessary to find her. When everything starts falling down around her, she finds herself losing hope and running into problems she may not be able to overcome.
This is the prequel that you get when you sign up for the author's newsletter. Since I had just finished the series (Witch's Bite) I thought I would enjoy seeing how it all began. Well, let me just say that if I had read the prequel to decide whether or not I wanted to read the series, I would have passed on it. So....I guess it is good that I did it in the order I did.
There isn't really anything wrong with the prequel, its just "meh". That's the problem. There isn't really anything compelling to peak the interest of the reader. Honestly, I wasn't interested AT ALL. There is no character development so we have no idea "who" these people are. The female MC (who we meet in the series) has a different boyfriend who tries to kill her and we are given absolutely no background on WHY she would be living with a man who would attempt that. That just comes out of left field and not only does he try to kill her, but he CHASES her down the street and in public as he keeps trying to catch her. That's not just crazy....that's CRAZY.....
So....I'm going to repeat - the series is great...the prequel...not so much.
