Amish life is one of simplicity and plainness. In this book, the reader should have learned about how the Amish practice voluntary simplicity. Instead, it includes a simplistic glimpse of the Amish life, without the strict rules normally associated with that life. In this series, Florence fulfills the expected male role in charge of the family and there is no interference or interaction from the Bishop. So it makes you wonder if the reader actually researched the topic.
I do so enjoy a good Amish series. Although this wasn't appalling, it was very unconventional and loses much of its credibility in the genre. This series is told in the point of view of Florence, who is very dedicated to the orchard that supports the family and making decisions for her family as well.
The widowed mother was unable or unwilling to perform her duties as head of the household, often spoiling her daughters and deferring her responsibilities to her step-daughter, Florence. it was very rough on the step-daughter having to be the leader of the household, nurturer, and disciplinarian. And yet, the step-mother never once acknowledged her as one of her own, except as an afterthought.
There were many new developments in this installment, which will affect the entire family from this time forward. The title reflects it is about Joy, but there is so much more. And Joy does experience an H.E.A. in this installment - not that she won't eventually.
So it behooves me to understand how it has received such high ratings. I have to admit that I did not notice any grammatical errors and the plotline seems very plausible. Plus, it is clean and wholesome.
Unfortunately, there was no depth to the story. The characters were not well-developed. The sentences are fairly short, the vocabulary is simple, and the dialogue was not that interesting. Many scenes stretched beyond being far-fetched but stood as inconceivable in their unique environment.
This was the best book so far because Florence had decided who she wants to marry. The pig farmer did not work out. A lot happens in this installment. Joy and Issac have decided to marry. Honor is pregnant and Wilma has a boyfriend and might marry him. Cherish is still at her aunt’s house. Can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
Awesome! Love all of the Amish Bonnet Sisters books. I'm almost done with the most current book and will anxiously awaiting the next book. Very fun read with great characters!
This was wonderful.... fourth in the series! Florence is my favorite character... she is finally looking for her own future/ love, instead of taking care of everybody else in her big unsupported step family.... lot of surprises revealed

Book 9: 4 stars I purchased a copy of the novel A Baby For Florence: Amish Romance (The Amish Bonnet Sisters Book 9) by Samantha Price and this review was given freely. Full of drama with a fair amount of negativity. this fast paced novel has recaps of prior book highlights intermixed with snippets of the low moral resulting from Levi's increasing rules; the couples and potential couples rocky romances; Cherish's sly, manipulative and sometimes rude ways as well as an unexpected accident for Florence caused by Bliss's birthday present and Wilma's spiteful personality. Book 12: 4 stars I purchased a copy of the novel Amish Mayhem: Amish Romance (The Amish Bonnet Sisters Book 12) by Samantha Price and this review was given freely. Drama filled and easy flowing with a fair amount of conflict reflected by a bad newspaper article increasing increasing store traffic; Caroline's bad influence on Favor, her lying to avoid leaving, her flirty with the unmarried men in the family; Cherish's jealousy; the story of Wilma's hiding the will getting out; and Levi's heart attack. Book 13: 4 stars I purchased a copy of the novel The Cost of Lies: Amish Romance (The Amish Bonnet Sisters Book 13) by Samantha Price and this review was given freely. Fairly negative again focused on Cherish's self-centeredness,loneliness, jealousy and abrupt oftentimes negative or callous comments. It was nice to see a softening in Ada and the start of atonement/reconciliation involving Wilma, Levi and Florence. Ends with a happy scene. As Levi recovers in the hospital after a heart attack, he urges Wilma to make things right with Florence while at the same time Ada, Florence and Cherish focus on running the orchard, business and home. AMISH. JOY. by Samantha Price Florence encounter with Carter a kiss shared still brought smiles. If it wasn’t to happen would he have been placed in front of her. Beautiful memory, a fear now kept her away, a neighbor, but he was not Amish, also an atheist. Another puzzle was a letter to her, found in the attic from her Mother, what did she mean. A mother the three shared, but never mentioned, nor by the community. What did she look like, what type of person was she.Joy was bitterly disappointed that the delivery of flowers were for Florence. A secret admirer, and saying she was beautiful. Her step mother and Florence had strong words, after she had tossed Florence’s mother’s letter in the fire. Why would she be upset by her going thru her mother’s things and old letters, that were in the attic. Her aunt, gave her a piece to the puzzle, her mother was an outsider. Thinking now she married and joined because of love for her father. The quest and the reason that Carter brought the farm, he finally told Florence. A question, and answer she didn’t know how to answer him. She was a caretaker of her father’s extended family. Emotions and questions that Florence has, makes one feel her deep sorrow. To not have words, a picture, or even a thought of that special person who gave you life. A story that you want more of, what is the path now for Florence. A great story to read and think about. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion
Florence has fallen in love with Carter Braithwaite. Unfortunately, he's considered unsuitable for her because he isn't Amish. But the heart wants what it wants, and the Amish man who had briefly seemed interested in her apparently had changed his mind and was no longer interested pursuing in a relationship with her. So her choices seem to be to find someone else to marry, live her life alone and unmarried, or to leave the Amish Community with Carter. Florence has so many unanswered questions, but can she find the answers she needs? Or will she need to make a lifelong decision without knowing any of those answers?
And in the meantime, her stepmother may be beginning a new relationship with a widowed man who wants to marry her. Also, her younger sister Joy is growing ever closer to a potential marriage proposal of her own. Things are certainly changing quite rapidly for all of them.
I enjoyed this forth entry in the Bonnet Sisters series. We get to learn a little bit more about this family and the past that surrounds them all. It was a fun tale and a very quick read. As with the previous books, I wanted it to go on longer as I was completely engrossed in the story & not yet ready for it to end. I wanted to know more. (I guess I'll just have to buy the next book in the series to find out what happens next.)
Amish Joy is the 4th story written by Samantha Price in her Amish Bonnet Sisters series. We are back with the Baker family and getting to know Joy alittle more. I enjoyed this story and watching Joy evolve into a mature young lady. There are a few side stories throughout this book and it definitely keeps the reader turning pages.
The characters are very likeable and realistic but my heart continues to go out to Florence. Everything is expected of her but no respect is given. This keeps her returning to the new neighbor seeking him out. Shocking secrets are released and how Florence deals with them is amazing.
I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached by anyone to post a favorable review. I have rated this book with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others.
Congratulations to Samantha Price for continuing her series with another remarkable story and I look forward to reading the next book.
This book was basically about joy’s story and its conclusion. Of course like the previous books there’s Florence's POV and her story. Even though it ended happily for both, there was something weird about Florence’s story, SPOILER ALERT. 🚨 Carter said he’s Welma’s nephew, but in the prequel of this series Welma gives birth to a son and gives him to her sister (Carter’s mother) to raise. Guess it’s either something the author overlooked or forgot about, if not, there’s more to this in the next book. In the end, I liked the romance and the mystery, and that there wasn’t any overdone preaching.
Amish Joy is book 4 in the Amish Bonnet Sisters series. Wonderful series. I wait on edge for next book. to see what Florence will do. Will she do when she finds information from Carter about things in the family? This info can be very damaging for her family. Her stepmother is getting closer to Levi will she be marrying and leaving the home with her sisters and leaving Florence with the home and orchard? Just when things are looking up for her someone unexpected shows up. Another well written novel. You won't be disappointed in this series.
Amish Joy is another great book by Samantha Price. You start reading this book and you definitely don't want to put it down once you start!! Joy is a little confused with Isaac, whom she likes very much. She tries to find out how he feels in her own way. Does she accomplish this??? Florence, finally is connecting some dots in her life. She's conflicted about how she feels however. What will she do?? THIS IS ANOTHER IN THE AMISH BONNET SISTERS SERIES THAT IS A MUST READ & THAT YOU WILL THOROUGHLY ENJOY!!!
Slowly, secrets are being revealed. Florence learns about her stepmom’s sister Iris, discovers a secret about her own birth mother, and is startled when the truth about her English neighbor is finally revealed to her. It appears that Florence is on the verge of her own HEA. But much is not yet known, and so much can still go wrong. Readers learn more about Florence, but her sisters still aren’t well developed characters. This series is entertaining, with books that are quick and easy to read.
Amish Joy...some secrets revealed, which sister returns home without her husband, why? Is another sister getting married? Florence finds out who Carter is, will she stay Amish or become English? My question after reading book 4, how will this family's story play out? I cannot wait for book 5 to be released to find out. I was given an ARC to review giving my honest opinion.
This is one of the best series I have read cannot wait to read book 5 in this series each book in the series gets better cannot wait to read book 5 in this series I cannot wait to read how it ends with Florence and the Englisher because they are so different just a fantastic series.
I enjoyed this story of suspense, intrigue and romance. The characters in this story are members of an Amish community. A Amish woman must decide if she wants to turn her back on her faith, community, friends and all her family, too run off with some man she doesn't really know.
Just when it was getting to the high point ... ugh the book needed - I can’t wait for the next book’ this series has been fabulous!! Twists and turns everywhere - love he author- her writing style is so good - the books suck you in all the way till the end ! Can’t wait for book 5
The Amish Bonnet Sisters book 4 had a happy ending. One I did not expect. I just can't believe what Florence did which makes me look forward to the next book in the Series. I definitely recommend this series. But the books .just be read in order to really understand the Series.
I love how all the characters have evolved throughout this series. This works as a stand-alone, but is so much more delightful if you have been following it all along. It brought me to tears! I received an advanced reader's copy of this book.
This was a very nice and easy read, without any ugly conflict or disturbing situations. I enjoy reading a book that can entertain and help me escape to a better place than the "here and now".
Issac comes back florence gets red Rose's isaac and joy announce their engagement Ezekiel comes back and wants to marry florence but she says she has to think about it then he sees her talking to Carter surprise about him
Book 4 of The Amish Bonnet Sisters series. I’m really enjoying this series. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series, Amish Family Secrets: Amish Romance (The Amish Bonnet Sisters Book 5)
This series about the baker family has me hooked. So many characters with different goals and personalities. The way the books flow from one to the next make it feel like one big book! Very talented author.
So Joy will be married sometime in the near future, and Florence is going to marry an outsider despite the risk of alienating her family, losing the orchard, and being shunned by the community. Does Carter even get what he is asking of her?
This book is great for any age. It's good to read something different from the others. Florence n kept everyone in the dark about everything. Sorry she was always treated like an ugly duckling as far as everyone did. She made the right choice in the end.
The main family in this book has alot of drama. They have to share alot of pain. They have a big family and friends who make things a little intense but they seem to work hard on their lives and problems. I enjoyed this book from start to finish
I'm reading the books in order while on vacation, and the situation with Joy was the opposite in the last book; it left me confused as he said some of the same words and phrases to Joy as she said to him.
Book 4 of the Bonnet Sister Will Issac and Joy commit to one another? Will Florence decide to follow her heart? Must read this book. Best to read in order
