Each born-again believer has something unique to offer the Body of Christ. The success of the Church depends on all of its parts. Everyone in the Local Church should carry the spirit of an Armorbearer. It is the heart of a servant. To be the greatest in the Kingdom is to be servant to all. In these best-selling books, God's Armorbearer & God's Armorbearer II , Terry Nance gives you the keys to stand with your leader to help fulfill God's vision. You will learn:
A fabulous book that every Christian should read for we have all been called as servants in The Church. Nance's style is easy to read & full of wisdom & The Word. I highly recommend this book.
For anyone serving a leader, this is a book for you. In particular within ministry context. This book is an eye opening personal account of one man's experience and growth throughout his many years of being called to full time ministry and in so doing serving his leader. The parallels between old testiment armour bearers and today's pledged servants is one that changes the dynamics of serving completely. Understand what it means to lay down one's life for God through service. What it means to do whatever it takes. To see God's plan for your life unfold as you serve the vision of someone else. Truly humbling, challenging and worth the read.
Two volumes but they are so short this is the size of a regular book. In volume 1 the author lays out the idea of an armor bearer as a calling for some folks in the church. In volume 2 he switches (and I'm thankful for it) to more of armor bearing as a life style in the church rather than a particular calling.
The book was just OK to me. While I do appreciate and agree with much of what he is saying about the idea of armor bearing, the book was a bit scattered to me and didn't stay focused on the main idea of the particular chapter or book overall. There were way too many stories for my particular taste. Some folks may not have an issue with either of these things, which is fine, just my opinion.
I love that he is calling folks in the church to lay down their lives for others rather than just focusing on their own needs. I love that he is calling folks to use their gifts within the body, and to be committed to a local church body. Great stuff!
It is definitely written from a Pentecostal standpoint and you will get a lot of "Pentecostalisms" throughout. But overall a decent read and there is something for everyone to learn or be reminded of in the book.
God's Armor Bearer by Terry Nance is a must read for anyone attending church. In actuality, this book can also help anyone that is employed as well. Most of us have people, a pastor, priest or even a boss, that we sit under. This book encourages the reader to come alongside and lift the burden of doing everything off our "leader". Nance says "The armor bearers of today will be the leaders of tomorrow". He uses humor and examples that make the book enjoyable to read. This book was very informative and I don't think anyone could go wrong reading it. I highly recommend this book.
I liked the 2nd part of this book better than the 1st part, but the book as a whole is great instruction on how to make sure you are not wasting your God-given talents, how to bloom where you are planted, why it is important to stay planted in your church, and why we are all choosen to suppour our pastors in the ministry by using our unique gifts.
This book is a must read for those who truly want to serve the Kingdom of God and it’s leaders. It’s instructions for not only being a better follower but also a better leader.
I rated this book a five because it has all the qualities to encourage those in the local church to seek the vision of God from their pastor. When I began reading the book, I was tired of the helps ministry. After reading it, my work isn't finished . A renewed energy has begun, a new attitude has been launched, and I can't wait for Sunday to come. Every new church members should read it and be required to read it yearly. It inspires one to get back in the fight against satan and run with the vision that God has prepared for each individual! This book is on my annual reading list.
This book contained both volumes 1 & 2. I love the idea and main point of these books, but was a little underwhelmed by the first book. I felt that I was able to glean the meaning and it’s a good subject to be writing about, but that the age of this book is showing at this point and some of the ways things are worded or explained seemed antiquated. If this book was updated again at this point, I’d probably be much more enthusiastic. Overall, this is a good book and brings up an important aspect of being on a ministry team, not as the lead pastor. The main subject and lessons in this book are important, but some of the older ideals in the first volume ended up being distracting to me.
I appreciate Mr. Nance for obeying God and writing these two books. These books were recommended to me by one of the Elders of my local assembly. She said that when my husband goes up to preach I need to be his Armor Bearer. So I got the books right away and there are no regrets. I saw myself in this role and I am already on track to fill this call. I'm also second in command and that's where I flourish. So thank you for giving me a blueprint on how to be the best Armor Bearer I can be.
This is a book that I will go back to over and over again. God’s armor bearer is a reference for anyone that serves in ministry. This book was recommended to me by my spiritual mother in 2019. When I first read it I didn’t understand. I thought why are we worshipping man but I needed to mature in order to grasp the deep revelations in God’s Armorbearer.
I’m reading it again in 2023, after going through inner healing and deliverance. This book is a must read!
Solid book that gave me a new perspective on how to improve as a servant leader both in my ministry work and my work in corporate America. Some of the testimonies are dated today, but they don't take away from the lessons in the book. Companion devotional book and study guide are very thought provoking.
Bought this together with the write-in study guide around the tkmr that I started accepting more responsibility at church. Terry Nance explains his first-hand journey as an armourbearer — it is encouraging and a call to bear arms. I am better equipped to serve because of it.
The author hive a great perspective on what it is like to submit your dream, vision, and agenda to the leadership above you and the reward it will bring!
Excellent Book!! This is a must Read. Once I started reading, I could not stop reading.
This book is excellent. I learned so much about myself and how to serve at church, work and in my own family, though the book’s focus is on ministry. I would recommend this book to not only ministers but anyone submitted in any way to authority(church, work, husband, etc.). The principles taught in this book applies to anyone in any setting where one has to submit to authority and vision.
God showed me so much through this book. Not just about carrying your church's vision but also personal growth step for myself. It's not a difficult read but it is one full of insights and "meat" so I took my time reading through it. Glad I did. Enjoyed it and learned so much.
This book is good for anyone seeking to understand just how important their submission is; whether it's to a husband, boss, pastor, parent, pta presidnt, etc.
Noteworthy excerpts: "Their function is to take the load off their officer, and to help impart his vision to the people." (page 50)
"God called armorbearers are there to support the leader and to help fulfill the vision God has given him... See, with you by his side, your officer is ten times more powerful than he is alone." (page 51) This book is not just for those termed "Armorbearer" in a church environment. Christians across the world are servants. And as servants (or serving followers of Christ created and developing to be more like Him), simply replace the word *officer* with husband, parent, business partner, principal, etc. Anyone that you are accountable to, or have to default to on any level.
This was a very good, very effective, and very important writing. :)
One of the best ministry and business books I've ever read. Period. This book is all about how to think and how to position yourself correctly under authority. It addresses the critical and often misunderstood skill of submission. That's right, submission is a skill, lol. Reading this book helped to prepare me for how to interact with my leader after I had been promoted and I firmly believe that my attitude towards him helped to propel me forward and precipitated my favor with him, others, and with God. It also got me promoted again! :)
This book will get your attitude together and get you to your next level by teaching you how to serve others well.
It was recommended that I read this book to learn more about being an armor bearer at my church. After rrading it however I am appalled! There are very few good ideas in this book in terms of serving from this context. Scripture is spun and taken completely and utterly out of context. This book comes from the Shepherd Movement of the 1980s, which is cult like. DO NOT READ THIS BOOK.
Praise God, this book ministers to me each time I read it. Have and open heart and hear what the Lord has for you in this season. A must for any armor bearer
