An enjoyable survey of Holmes on the screen, handicapped by the book’s publication in 1975. Lots more Holmes has gone on since then. For example, Jeremy Brett’s extraordinary portrayal is absent from the book, as his series did not begin until 1984. (And let’s not talk at all about Robert Downey Jr.)
