A Jewish boy stays in the country with an old couple. The old man hates Jews? But I can’t understand why else he thinks the boy is staying there. They grow close, and the boy grows wise to peoples hate of Jews tho he never understands why. The boy and his family are reunited at the end.

A very simple, tender story evidently loved by the French because they made it into two movies...but then they love Jerry Lewis movies.

Love and enjoyment of youth can outweigh even the deepest held beliefs. It makes us question what really influences our views on poeple.
