Goddess Young is devastated when her husband Spliff disappears, kidnapped by some crooked cops on a power trip. When she finds out he’s dead, she has a hard time picking up the pieces of her life and finds it spiraling out of control. She loses her home and almost her sanity. She's torn by grief as she wonders how she'll survive without him. She’s unable to find a job and found herself in the middle of her friend, Quetta's problems. It looked like the end of the road for her until she received a phone call that gets her out of the heat, for now. A new town brings about a newfound happiness and love that she didn’t believe was possible. Goddess tries to keep her head above water but it's nearly impossible with fresh dripping wet blood on her hands. Jealousy, deceit, and betrayal rears its ugly head throughout this book especially when she realizes that the dead has secrets too. **Originally published as "Killin' Me Softly" by Nicety Hannon in 2012**

Not bad, just more serious and classy a start than I imagined. Goddess is a motivated girl who lost her gangster husband, even gets his head in a box. I like her but the pace is a li’l slow and I’ve heard these types in his other works (isn’t Peaches literally from another story). I’ve read hundreds of urban fiction pieces so I’m spoiled. Love the cover!

A toxic mess
Ridiculous story with bad writing. Every character in this story was awful but the main character was the worst taking zero accountabilty for any of her actions. This toxic mess ended in the very best way.

Wow!!
This book definitely had my jaw dropping at every twist and turn. Goddess has been through the ringer. After the whole ordeal with Spliff I thought she was going to lose her mind. The whole Tara situation was crazy too. It was dirty of her to do. Her grandmother was a trip though. She was definitely living her life because of she condition though. I can’t fault her for that one. Goddess really took me by surprise at the things that she did throughout the book.

Yes this book was everything from beginning to the end I cant believe goddess just dipped on Quetta like that I guess that's why her life when down hill after that's especially what she did to her grandmother omg she is pathetic revenge needed to be paid back to her cause she was no good...great job

I enjoyed this. Your titles are very catchy. They either make you want to read.them.or.look the other way. I wanted to read this one because it was a stand alone. I appreciated the fact that that alone was what I was looking for. You did the damn thing as usual. His shot on to the next.

I don't know who was crazier goddess or cole still in all a good read.....goddess Husband was a fraud too bad she died and didn't get a chance to start her life over with all that $..

Just wow
While this is different from his other books I was not disappointed. I loved seeing this side of author Mills. It was really a good hood story that was outside of the box. I loved it. I didn't know rather to scream or cry.

Filled with twists
This was a wild and entertaining story. I don’t really know how to feel about Goddess but Quetta should’ve took her case. I love that this was a stand-alone and the story felt complete. The villain was actually like able. I enjoyed it. Great job!!!!

This book was the bomb! Goddess went through a lot. She ducked out on her friend, took her grandmother's man. The shocker was spiliff her felt for a man turned woman. That's all can say is karma is a bitch. A must read

Exceptionally good
I couldn't put it down, it was so good. I couldn't get with Goddess going with Cole after Truth. I was already messed up with her after she went behind her mother, I guess she got her Karma. Very good.

This had a promising premise. It also had a LOT of twists and turns and no redeeming characters. Life doesn't always have redeeming characters. But, this was messy. But, 2.5 stars.
