I live with my family in the south of Germany. Our son is now grown up, sought the distance a few years ago and my husband I regularly lock in the garage to his motorcycles to have my peace. As you can see, my humor takes some getting used to. No seriously, we love and respect each other and I am grateful every day anew to know him by my side.

Under the pseudonym Nele Betra I write romantic stories in different genres as well as genre mixes.

At the beginning of 2014 I had a spontaneous idea: I could write a story. So I sat down and just did it. No one could have even guessed what that would mean for me and my future.

In the meantime, I've given up my job and work as a freelance author - a fact that I enjoy to the full after thirty years of working in the private sector. I certainly won't take the freedom that comes with it for granted.

As you can see, I don't belong to the species of author who has been writing down stories since childhood. A hobby turned into a vocation. On days when I'm not sitting at the computer breathing life into my protagonists, I really realize that.

My stories evolve during the writing process, which always makes it exciting for me, because I almost never know beforehand in which direction a plot will develop. Sure, I know the novel's heroes at the beginning, and they end up finding happiness together, but as the saying goes, the journey is the destination. They love each other. They hate each other. Fate - or rather I turn their lives upside down, make them tumble over imaginary precipices to catch them with a happy ending.

For me, there is nothing better than to emotionally abduct my readers and immerse them in the world of my protagonists. Nevertheless, I try to address important and sometimes serious issues and make them thought-provoking. But not without conveying a certain lightness. In my eyes, life is also not always sky-high or sad to death. Everything is in balance. Drama, love, lust, humor, suspense are the ingredients with which I spice my novels. I am only satisfied when the book is closed at the end with a relieved sigh and people are happy that everything turned out well in the end; I was able to give a few hours of joy.

Peter leaves home at a young age with the intention of never coming back home. But after his mom calls for his help, he returns to the family winery and is confronted by chaos and by his attraction to a much younger Chase.

I did like the premise of this story and for the age gap romance, the setting, and lots more. But I think the execution of getting the point across could have been better. There was a disconnect when it came to the romance, but I still liked the way the MC's related and reacted to each other. All in all, it was a good book, but not one of my favorites.

I received an ARC and this is my honest opinion.

English Edition Release
💞A great fast moving story with lots of feels and emotions.
Doctor Peter was in San Francisco and receives a call from his family's Golden Dream Winery. At 42 he's called back home with his dads passing after 20 plus years of being away.
Chase and his father were employees but Chase is asked to help with the winery estate but that proves more difficult with obstacles in the way.
Includes 11 yrs age difference, a few mini mysteries questions, Where was Melody?, Doc and Mrs S relationship, autopsy findings?
It's not long before they have to scramble to save their legacy from under unscrupulous people. Yah not telling to what happens but there's lots of emotions involved to get to the ending.
Attractions between the characters simmer under the surface adds to the story.

This book balances a variety of narrative elements: there’s a level of drama woven through the family winery that keeps the plot engrossing. There are elements of a mystery and, in addition to all of that, the building of the age-gap romance between Chase and Peter. Overall, it’s an easy story to get caught up in, although for me the development of the romantic relationship often felt least-central to the storyline as a whole. Is it nice to see two interesting and likable characters connect? Yes, yes it is, but it never felt essential, to either the characters or the story.

First, I read the English version and am reviewing accordingly. The story has a variety of emotions attached. The romance is fast and sweet. The drama is just that, dramatic. The mystery is solved pretty quickly but interesting, nonetheless. The HeA is a good conclusion to the story with all the loose ends tied up nicely. An entertaining story that’s pretty engaging. I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.

This is the story of Peter and Chase, it is the first book in the Three Friends series. If you are looking for a story with drama and a little mystery with great characters that takes place at a winery, then you will enjoy this one. Personally for me this needed something but I still enjoyed getting to know Peter and Chase. I am interested to see what happens next.

I received this book as an Arc and I am happily reviewing it voluntarily.

I felt like I was reading a B-grade move from the 60's. It needed a beta reader and some editing. I feel like the story had potential but I just couldn't get past all the inconsistencies. It felt like a foreign book translated to American. I really believe that the story line had serious potential.

I have read this in English and it was such a beautiful story. His father has died and now he has to go back home for the first time he has been home in quite a while. This follows him as he comes to terms with the loss of his father and being back home after so much time away

Golden Dreams is really a mystery story with a romance.
There is certainly a lot going on here.
I appreciated the location of the story and enjoyed reading the book.
The romance between Chase and Peter is well done.
The HEA also give a conclusion to the mystery.

Good

Okay this was good, but not all that fascinating. It has it's moments, I just couldn't really connect to the story

This story seems to have a lot to get through which often takes the romance and sexual tension away from the forefront. There is an interesting mystery unfolding which is interesting however if this is a romance book then it is overshadowed by the rest of the family drama. When the two main characters do finally get together the scenes are very quiet and have no details it's pretty much off page which was really disappointing. I liked the storyline but it just needed more spice to make it real. I am assuming that because this book has been translated a lot of the original feelings may not have come through as well. I am assuming William and Carlo are the other characters getting their book written these characters were fun so I look forward to reading those.

Good Story

While this was a good story in the end, I did find it a bit hard to stay interested at times.

I received an ARC and this is my unbiased opinion

Poorly written with badly crafted sentences, improper sentence structure, and punctuation. The story was difficult to follow at times, as the author made bizzare references to the character's thoughts without explaining how they got from point "A" to point "B". Weird use of similes that didn't often make sense. At times I felt like I was reading a book translated from a foreign language with improper translations. The "whodunnit" mystery was immediately apparent and offered no suspense. One of the worst books I've read - ever.

I enjoyed this one for the mix of family/business drama with Peter and the winery, the California location, the age gap romance between Peter and Chase as they reconnect when Peter comes home and the addition of the mystery element to the story. I'll be looking for and reading the second book.

Was für ein tolles Buch! ❤️
