I'm not exactly sure when I fell in love with books. Probably on my mother's knee listening to her read Dr. Seuss to me. I do remember that I was barely old enough to cross the street by myself when I discovered the delights of the local library. Could anything be more wonderful than spending summer days surrounded by stacks of Nancy Drew mysteries? Over the years I fell in love with Victoria Holt, Jane Austen, Agatha Christie, and J.R.R. Tolkien just to name a few. I read poetry, essays, biographies, and plays. In fact, I read anything I could get my hands on.

Years later (no, I'm not admitting how many) I'm still an avid reader, and my tastes are still as varied as they were in my youth, which I suppose helps to explain why I enjoy writing regency historicals under the name of Deborah Raleigh, as well as my contemporary paranormals as Alexandra Ivy. For now that is enough to keep me busy, but who knows what the future might hold!

I do have a few other loves in my life besides reading and writing, the most important being my unbelievably patient husband, David, and my two sons, Chance and Alexander. Without their constant support and belief in me, I never could have been able to follow my dreams. They are truly my heroes.

I loved Anna and Cezar story. The series is getting much better I was really on the fence with the first story but I have come to love the others that have followed. Cezar was sweet and sexy and, Anna was cute but maybe she could have kicked a little more butt, but it had a good story line. Also I would like to say I love Levet!!!!!!!!

I'm still diggin' Alexandra Ivy's Guardians of Eternity series and "Darkness Revealed" is book four. This series is about smoking hot vampires, sexy werewolves, powerful goddesses, wily fairies, snarky gargoyles, and most anything else that goes 'bump in the night'. While these stories are every bit as hot as many others available, for me this author keeps the tone lighter. There's still action, mystery, and suspense--but the sense of looming evil isn't there...and I enjoy that for a change!

Cezar met an incredible woman two hundred years ago, but the price he paid for that night was imprisonment to the Commission of Oracles. For one unforgettable encounter, he's had to live like a eunuch and serve as their lapdog for all these long, lonely years. Now, he's been turned loose with a specific mission--to act as her protector. To keep her safe while she fulfills her destinies. And no matter how strong their attraction is, no matter how close they grow, he knows he will eventually lose her.

Anna blamed Cezar for changing her life two hundred years ago. He took her innocence, turned her into some kind of creature that doesn't die, and was gone before she woke. She returned home to find her only family, an aunt and cousin, dead in a house fire and her life in danger. So when Cezar surfaces again, Anna has plans for him. She will capture him and force him to tell her exactly what she is. And surely she's exaggerated her weakness for him over the years, right?

I liked Anna. She didn't panic, she didn't do stupid things, she just buckled down and did what she needed to do (including Cezar!). But Cezar? Oh baby, I want one of those. He fought his connection yes...but once he knew what Anna meant to him, it was ALL about her. Both of these characters had to learn to compromise and lean on each other and admit to their feelings. Remembering makes me smile even now.

The contemporary setting is perfect for this story which is more of a romantic urban fantasy. The lead and secondary characters stay true to their natures throughout and readers even get a glimpse of the next book's hero! Ivy can write some steamy love scenes, but emotion still rules the day. "Darkness Unleashed" is up next in December of 2009 and it's already on my 'buy' list.

One night of passion and your whole world changes, could you hold a grudge for two centuries?
I guess so if you think that the man you shared the most passionate experience of your life suddenly disappeared the very night that you lose your family and found yourself "different" from everyone else.

I adored this tale of Anna who is trying to find out what she is and why someone is trying to kill her. Her guardian Cezar who she shared a passionate encounter with 200 years ago is suddenly at her side fiercely protecting her. He opens her eyes to the supernatural world around her and of course asks for help from his clan to ensure the safety of this special woman.

Cezar is an absolutely delicious vampire, and Anna is an amazingly strong and compassionate woman. The fantastic dialogue wrapped in this intriging story brings all the characters to life. Being rather partial to the fae and their stories, I loved the incorporation of old Celtic legends in the midst of the vampires.

I finally got a book in this series that was really worth the hype. Anna Randal was watching out for her cousin when she got pulled into a dark room and her life changed FOREVER.
200 years later, Anna finds Conde Cezar and she is bound to make him pay for taking a bite of her.

First of all, Anna is no simpering female. Second, she is a geninely thoughtful person. I have noticed that the women in this series are kind hearted. One took in a gargoyle, another is a vegetarian despite being a werewolf, Anna is a champion of those needing justice. the women also seem stronger (in magical power) than their mates, so that's cool too.

In this story, Anna wasn't going to let Cezar just blindly lead her or lie to her. She wanted a full partnership and it made Cezar respect her.
BTW, I am quite amused by the french gargoyle

I think I was a little frustrated with the non-communication on this one. Also the justice vs revenge that surfaces in the end, made me a little irritated. So what, women, all women of this series, have to be selfless and forgivers and all men alpha fighters? I'm sure that is not the case but so far we got the vegetarian werewolf, and all the women balk at killing bad people that have been trying to kill them or their partners. OK, that is not so bad but... I guess along with the frustration of the non-communication, it grated. I liked the couple but they had they're first tryst 200 years before. I think the way the meeting in the future takes place doesn't spark the chemistry but took away somewhat. So although I liked this one, I just didn't like it as much as the last 2.

I loved how 200 years didn't change how they felt for each other. This was a second chance romance that I loved. A first for me.

Two hundred years ago Anna Randall shared one exquisite encounter with the wicked Conde Cezar before he abandoned and left her changed, an immortal, or so she thinks. And when she learns of his arrival in Chicago she is determined to track him down and finally get some answers.

For two centuries Cezar has been in control of the powerful oracles, all because he gave into the intense desire he felt for the innocent Anna. And when he’s commanded to guard the still very enticing Anna, he finds none of his feelings for her has changed in the centuries apart.

But an enemy is intent on killing Anna to put a stop to a prophecy, and Anna will have to decide if she can trust Cezar to keep her safe, not just her body but also her heart.

“Why do you care if I’m alive or dead?”
He glanced down at her wary hazel eyes, a jolt of pure male possession racing through him. “I told you one hundred and ninety-five years ago that you belong to me, Anna Randal,” he growled. “No one is allowed to harm you.”

This is my kind of second chance romance and I loved everything about this book.

Anna was adorable and has changed quite a lot in the years since she last saw Cezar, she’s grown more comfortable in who she is, and she’s found her calling as a lawyer, getting justice for those who has been wronged. Cezar was so wickedly sexy, and I loved how he teased Anna, how he just wanted to keep her safe.

The romance was amazing and I loved that for two hundred years there had been no one else for either of them, and I adored how possessive both were over the other. My favorite part of this series is how besotted the heroes are over their heroines, and Cezar was no different.

“Levet, please stop sniffing my guest,” Darcy commanded. “It’s not polite.”
The gargoyle made a rude noise. “You said that scratching my privates in public wasn’t polite. Now I cannot even sniff the guests? You are such a buzz-kiss.”
Darcy rolled her eyes. “Buzz-kill, Levet. The word is buzz-kill.”

This series has such wonderful secondary characters, and Levet, who is one of my favorites, was as hilarious and fantastic as always.

Alexandra Ivy has written an excellent PNR series with this series, and I can’t recommend it enough. Read it.

My Rating :
Star : 3.7/5
Bikini : 2/5

This series continues to be one I like... but not enthusiastically. Dont get me wrong- it's got some great characters and perhaps that is why I continue reading. (You can plot your book like Plotty Plotterton but if you dont write engaging characters I care about? You've lost me.)

In Darkness Revealed we have a couple who have a history- which is what initially drew me in to the story, a Vampire hero and a heroine once again unaware of the incredible magic that lies within her.

Unaware that she is the last in a powerful line- one hint: Arthurian- AND that she is destined to be on a ruling council of judges, Anna Randal is determined to find Conde Cezar, a creature who she's sure turned her into something "other" over a century ago.

Cezar, having never forgotten Anna, is determined to protect Anna- despite the fact he's been held almost enslaved, by the Oracles- the powerful council who keeps the otherworld creatures in line.

He'll deny everything to keep her safe from an ancient evil- even the fact that Anna Randal is his mate and one chance at happiness.

Although I did like Darkness Revealed, because Cezar and Anna were one smokin couple- the over the top evil chick seriously got on my nerves. Not subtle at all she came off like a spoiled rich girl meangirl who had way to much airtime. During the final confrontation I just thought, "Oh for God's sake- just kill her and shut her up already." Making it way more anticlimatic than intended for me.

So yeah, in end only 3 stars. :/

This is a vampire romance series set in modern-day Chicago. The couple in this book is Anna Randal (she's part fey and destined to become an oracle after fighting Morgana la Fey, fairy Queen) and Conde Cezar, a hot Spanish 500 year old vampire who has been the unwilling servant of the oracles for the last 200 years. All of heros/heroines from previous books in the series make appearances, and a couple new heros for future books are introduced. No one will mistake this series for great literature, but if you like your cheesy romance with a side of urban fantasy/paranormal romance, this is a pretty good series.

4 Darkness Stars
(Spoiler Alert)

Darkness Revealed is book four in Alexandra Ivy’s Guardians of Eternity series.
The story flowed magically. Alexandra knows how to pull her audience in and keep us entertained, with a strong plot, action, adventure, and just the right amount of romance.

Anna I enjoyed from the moment we meet her. The superhero references she makes add humor to the story. I also liked that she did not freak out when learning about the demon world and all the different kids of demons in it. She showed a strong will and it continued to grow throughout. My only grip is that I wish she was more confident in her powers and not afraid to learn how to use them. She does not show understanding or confidence until Morgana le Fey is about to kill her. With that said it was hard to imagine Anna a lawyer she just seamed to soft for the demon world.

Cezar is a very sexy vampire and commanded by the Oracles/Commission of the demon world. He is torn between wanted to protect Anna and possessing her. That struggle to do right by Anna and not interfere in her destiny even though he wanted so bad to protect her was wonderful done.

Anna and Cezar complemented each other. I liked how they both have been pinning for each other for nearly two century's and the progress in the development of their relationship throughout flowed. They both want each other, but each must come to it in their own way. As for the Oracles/Commission I really didn’t like them. They just did not feel like they are on the side of justice. Maybe they will change.

Levet the gargoyle I just love seeing him. He is so adorable. He brings humor into the story. I was happy to see him and all the old friends from the previous books. It’s nice to see where they are in their lives and how they all come together to help out their friends. The camaraderie was great.

I liked meeting Jagr. How he was introduced in Darkness Revealed as the very reclusive paranoid vampire. I can’t wait to read his story. I would like to know more about how he got his scars and to see a women help him heal.

I did have a few unanswered questions after it was said and done. Just a few questions as to what happens!

All and all Darkness Revealed was a wonderful read in Alexandra Ivy’s Guardians of Eternity series. If you have not picked up this series I recommend you do! The first book When Darkness Comes is a little hard to get into, but after that the rest of the books just flow and pull you into the adventure.

I think that Cezar was a great hero for this book. Anna met him about 200 years ago and Cezar seduced her. he also took her blood. But neither he nor Anna could have ever expected what would happen next.
Cezar is ripped from Anna's sleeping form by the Oracles, and enslaved for 200 years for daring to take the blood of a fated Oracle.
Anna wakes up, goes home, finds her aunt's house burned to the ground, and assumes her aunt and cousing Morganna perished in the fire. Then she finds out she is immortal, and has crazy strong powers. Anna blames Cezar for this and after 200 years, she sees his name in a paper, and goes to confront him. But, Cezar did nothing to her. Anna has a hard time believing that the anger she harbored for her Spanish conquistador of a vampire was never justified. Oh and their passion is alive and well.
Cezar and Anna then realize there's a threat against Anna's life from the queen of the faeries. Morganna le Fay. Yep, her cousin Morganna-except she's not her cousin. Anna is a descendant of King Arthur, so she's Morganna's neice. She set the fire, thinking Anna died in it. Surprise surprise, Anna's alive and well and 200 years older and wiser. But her powers are unpredictable, so she needs the vampires we've come to know and love to help keep her safe. Viper, Styx, Dante and their mates all have appearances along with a new male named Jagr. He's not exactly friendly, but the epilogue concerns him...and it's pretty interesting indeed.

Alright, book four in the Guardians of Eternity Series and we're starting to understand the rules of this fantasy world. However, the two main characters are not ones we have met before, so a slight deviation from past paths. This time we follow Conde Cezar and Anna Randall.

I have to say the first half of the book was better than the second, mainly because Anna played hard to get in the beginning, and I kind of liked that. Once she had capitulated and Cezar was well and truly hooked, the story entered the more familiar realm of Mills & Boon classic.

It was nice meeting the fey, not particularly in-depth, but amusing. Which basically sums up this series for me. In saying that though, these books are good fun and a welcome read. Just not Top Reads Bookshelf material.

So, what does book four in the series get on the NBRS score?

I'm going back to 5.5/10, somewhere between: "Finished the book and it was above average, but I won't be seeking this author out again" and "Good light-weight read, well done".

Although I have switched back to a JR Ward book to read after this one, I am certain I will return for a quick romp between the pages of Ivy Alexander's vampire ridden world.

This 4th part in the series had more action and i loved every minute of it.

So this series is getting even better with every book.

I love the new characters that turn up in every book and the presence of previous characters in each book is heartwarming.
I just love it when a book engulfs me in its story and i lose myself in it. Its the most blissful feeling.

Anna doesn't know she is an oracle and has powers she doesn't understand. Cesar has been her protector and one time lover, and wants only her. Morgana is the villain along with the Oracles. Poor Anna. Other characters from this series also play a part is helping Anna reach her goal.

(3.5 Stars Really)
Anna Randall would prefer to stay out of the spotlight and in hindsight wishes she had been less attentive to her chaperone duties for a rich relative the night she met master vampire, Conde Cezar. Completely attracted to and enthralled by Cezar, Anna looses more than her virtue and awoke to a possible scandal, her family dead and immortality. Having taken a bit of Anna's blood has bound Cezar to the Oracles and his latest assignment is to protect Anna which plays havoc on him emotionally and physically. No woman before or since their meeting has made his body sing the way Anna does. Convinced that Cezar is to blame for her immortality and growing powers, Anna tracks Cezar and catches up to him 200 years later and she plans to have her vengeance and get answers about the changes in her since they met.

This was such a difficult read to start for me. After being given the detail of the Anna and Cezar's meeting I was annoyed have the same detail in annoying flashback snippets each time Anna and Cezar thought about their circumstance or met during the first couple of chapters. As Cezar tries to convince Anna that he made no physical changes to her, they find that a rival of hers is tracking them and trying to capture Anna for sinister reasons. Cezar and Anna escape and flee to Styx protection and assistance. With Styx and Levert's knowledge added to Cezar and Anna's it's quickly determined that Morgana, Queen of Fae is after Anna. They also piece together than Morgana is actually a relative and is responsible for some of the upset Anna has accused Cezar of causing in her life. Meanwhile, Morgana arrives in this realm to be available for destroying Anna easily once she found, removing any barrier to the ultimate power she craves.

The world expands a bit by adding more demon varieties, imps and fae which is a good thing. Anna was tiring with her constant moaning about how everything wrong in her life is Cezar's fault, reminding him (and me) that he took her blood and she was my main issue with the read. I also felt like I've read this tale before and actually I have. In this series in fact. The names and the species change but the stories are interchangeable. Vampire meets woman who is in mortal danger, woman doesn't trust vampire, vampire takes woman away from immediate danger, woman and vampire decide they are in love but must fight it all costs, woman and vampire have sex, danger from threat nears, vampire saves woman and takes her to his lair where they live in bliss until it's time for the next female to join the vampire lover's club. I want to like this series but there it's too formulaic - there is absolutely no change in the template (even putting in a different order would be a welcome change for this reader). This is a middle of the road series for me. I think there's potential that hasn't yet been reached and hope that someone will break the cycle.

Ada kata2 menarik di bab 22, ini dia : What female in her right mind wouldn’t adore having a mouthwatering, drop-dead gorgeous man indulging her every whim? It was the stuff of fantasy.
Cezar memang layak ditunggu... sedemikian setianya sampai bisa selibat selama 200 tahun saking cintanya kepada Anna. Mupeeeeengggg....

Duuuhhh... dari awal baca buku ini aku langsung falling in love ama si Cezar [image error]

pastinya 5 stars buat yg ini. Tergila-gila banget sama Cezar. Bayangkan seorang vampir tampan berambut hitam hingga punggung, dengan jepit emas dan pakaian serba hitam. Jangan lupa bagian kaya raya nya. :)
Anna, yg ga tau menau tentang oracle ngira Cezar ninggalin dia begitu aja setelah memanfaatkan Anna.
kemudian mereka ketemu lagi di Chicago 200 tahun kmudian. ajaibnya, setelah 200 taun pun mereka sama2 ga bisa lupain satu sama lain. lupakan action nya, kalian harus baca sendiri. ;p

Read the translation version and review written in Indonesian languange

Selese juga baca ceritanya si tusuk konde, ups, Conde Cezar.
Dikasih 4 bintang, sama aja kayak ceritanya Styx. Bagus tapi g bikin excited banget ;p

Sayang nih, terjemahannya beberapa ngaco.

Dastan, kejar setoran sih sah - sah aja.

14/20

So this was Ceasar and Anna's story, neither of whom had been introduced in the previous book, as has been the author's habit thus far. Frankly, I liked having the little intro/peek of the character to come in the book previous. Anyway, I liked these characters and their story. Anna doesn't realize she is something supernatural prior to meeting Ceasar, and thinks that it is something he did (like when he bit her) that resulted in her halt of aging and her living 200 years. The author does a pretty good job of covering her bases quickly in building a plausible situation to explain the characters circumstances. I can't say this is my favorite of the series, tho I liked it well enough. I had to reread the first few books in order to pick up the series. I must say I'm looking forward to the next book, based on the sneak peak of Jagr in this one.

I keep waiting for this series to just wow me but so far it hasn't. It was a decent enough book that kept my attention but it just didn't give me the emotional roller coaster that I love so much in romance novels. This is an interesting series though where they seem to fall for each other early on in the book and then the story is about the life threatening dangers. I also find it interesting how the female leads in these books are more powerful than the male leads. Anyway, it's a decent enough series but I'm still waiting for it to be something more.

Cezar is noble and has been searching for this one woman for nearly 200 years. His reason is for protection but once he sets his eyes on her again, all the lust is there and he sole purpose is to make her his.

Anna has been searching for 200 years for the vampire that stole her heart and took her blood for answers. She is a lawyer for the people, a voice when one has none, but has come into powers that she can't explain.

Action packed, love, and all characters return. This is the main reason why I love this series, everyone is present and helps!! Oh and the gargoyle is too funny!

Good read, but I feel like it is a carbon copy of the three books written in the series prior to this one. It goes something like this... Vampire meets girl. Vampire falls in love with girl. Girl falls in love with vampire. Something evil is after girl. Vampire protects girl and beats the evil something. Vampire makes girl his life mate. They live happily ever after. I feel like I've read this story before but the characters names have changed. Don't get me wrong it was a good story but maybe the books in this series shouldn't be read back to back.

Anna Randal has been waiting 200 years to get in the room with Conde Cezar. That night all those years ago changed her life. Or so she think it was the events of that night that changed her life.

Cezar has paid dearly for a crime that he committed and not knowing he did it. He admits to finding a very lovely being that he wanted very much. He also admits that she has been consuming him for two centuries. The thing that he needs to remember is that she has key role on one of the most powerful councils in their world.

The battle. The intrigue. The passion. The desire.

I enjoy Ivy's writing style for the most part. While the subjects and intro of this book didn't flow from the last book, it does appear that most of the books in this series often do flow together. Cezar was very sexy, and some of our old favorite characters make an appearance. Probably not my favorite book so far in the series, but I liked it.

I just couldn't get into this book. I had little interest in Cezar and Anna; the chemistry wasn't there and the storyline was weak.

Still, I'm not giving up on the series. There are still other characters (e.g. Salvatore) that I'm interested in reading about.
