His people want my planet. He could care less as long as he is getting paid. What he really desires is keeping me for himself.
When the people of Earth start to taste the instability I’ve felt my whole life, I begin to thrive in their uncertainty. I scavenge through old military installations. I sell whatever I find to different mafias. They all think I only work for them. Or at least they did until a very angry, very handsome alien weapons smuggler caught me red-handed.
I do the only thing I can think of. I swallow my fear and look deep into his hungry eyes. Enticing him to come and play.
Kade takes the bait. But I may have played myself. He is willing to strike a deal with the human mobsters who are selling scraps from his payload. He won’t snitch to the Brohildi General… in exchange for me .
Smuggler is a dark sci-fi romance and can be read as a standalone. This novel contains disturbing content that may be offensive to some readers.
Hazel Jonas lives in rural New England with her husband and a gaggle of cats. She loves to write about the creatures we’ve been told not to lust for. In late 2022, Hazel switched to writing spicy slow-burn romance.
With a background in bench chemistry and chemical manufacturing, Hazel writes part-time while working contract jobs.
She takes part in a wide variety of hobbies. Each of which depends on what direction her neurodivergent brain decides to drag her in.
Smuggler has some dark aspects to it, stalking, kidnapping, etc. but the book itself is more about finding love and acceptance than anything else, and let’s not forget the spice in this book! 5/5. I enjoyed following Tabi’s journey into space with Kade the Smuggler, and how easy it was for me to read; I took 2 days because I didn’t want the story to end. I can’t honestly wait for the next book this author is going to put out.

The chemistry between Kade & Tabi is crazy! And super hot as well. Also, they both felt "crazy" - not understanding the intense chemistry/lust between them. (I really enjoyed the "self-talk" they each had. It definitely added more understanding into their characters & often made me laugh or ponder.) The spice is what kept me reading. There were some dark elements, but not so much to need a trigger warning, IMO.
I really enjoyed the book, but felt that there was something I was missing - but can't define exactly what. I didn't feel that Kade's character was fully developed. I felt like Tabi's was better. I truly enjoyed her feelings about detachment, adapting and being comfortable when life was crazy. Sort of strange, but I liked her point of view.
They do get their HEA (or maybe HFN?), which makes me happy.
While part of a series, it wasn't necessary to read the previous book. Having not read Book 1, some of those characters were involved and it may have helped me connect more? < - Probably just me. I will definitely read more by this author.
If you like lots of heat, you will enjoy this book.

This was an enjoyable read. Once it got going I didn't want to put it down, completing it in a few 2-3 sittings. It just flowed from page to page and it's thigh squeezing steamy!
I loved the, disinterested but irresistible attraction between Kade and Tabi. Though they are not the deepest characters, there's something about the way they're written that really drew me in. Its short, short on plot and just sort of ends but I loved it anyway.
Its one of those book where the steam is the plot, where we tumble between steamy scenes driven by a serviceable background narrative and a building romance. Its very efficient with its world building and I loved the interactions between Tabi and her bad boy alien.
I was sad when it ended but at least it ended on a happy note.
I have not read the first novel and I didn't feel like I was missing out, but there are returning characters from the first one, so probably read that one first.
A short, sweet and very steamy read. Recommended to fans of steamy adult sci-fi romance.
Short, pretty smutty with not a ton of plot but a fun read. I found myself giggling quite a bit throughout the book at Kade and Tabi while they figured out their relationship. Kade does save Tabi initially even if saving her means he has to abduct her out of a bad situation, he also just abandons her at an alien port because he has “no time for a human.” Tabi is hurt but makes a life while Kade can’t seem to stay away from her. They continue to push one another and the storyline has enough plot and smut to keep the reader engaged throughout, but it’s a pretty fast read at just 150 pages! Overall I enjoyed the read- not super dark but quite fun!.

Tabi (h) gets caught scavenging on an old military installation by an alien smuggler, Kade (H), and before she's knows it he's taken her into his spaceship. This dark instant attraction novel has plenty of very hot steamy intense sexual action, what it didn’t have for me was a feeling of romance and real emotional connection between Tabi and Kade. It seems like the first chance he gets, he offloads her at a spaceport to make her own way - stalking her enough to keep tabs on her and get a booty call when their paths cross. Ending to me was a HFN, not a HEA, as I'm not sure what kind of long term future there is for them.
SMUGGLER'S OBSESSION Instant attraction. Instant obsession. HOT! Tabi scavenges to survive. An abandoned military base should be easy... Kade is a smuggler making a drop. Should be easy... When she distracts him and gets away, he becomes obsessed. Taking her is easy. Letting her go... not so much!.
