It’s post-apocalyptic mayhem of the highest order in the series readers are calling Mad Max meets Monty Python.
Join the Librarian as he strives to make the post-apocalyptic world a better world. Protecting the weak, fighting injustice, squaring off against a group of former renaissance fair workers who have established a kingdom in the Rocky Mountains, etc… Can one man make a difference in the face of such murderous cannibals and super smart bears? Probably not.

The Boom Box includes:

Post-Apocalyptic Nomadic Warriors (Book 1)
An army of savage raiders have their sights set on the town of New Hope and the people there need help. So, when two heroes offer their assistance, one is invited to stay and the other is sent back into the wasteland. Did they choose the right man for the job? Find out in Post-Apocalyptic Nomadic Warriors.

Knights of the Apocalypse (Book 2)
A price on their heads has driven the post-apocalyptic nomadic warrior, Erica and their loyal mastiff west in search of a new beginning. But when their truck breaks down in what was once southern Colorado they are swept into an epic quest at the behest of King Elias, ruler of the Kingdom of the Five Peaks. The adventure that began in Post-Apocalyptic Nomadic Warriors, continues here in Knights of the Apocalypse.

Pursuit of the Apocalypse (Book 3)
The bounty hunter Mr. Christopher has kidnapped Erica and The Librarian and his dog, Chewy are desperate to get her back.
Be a part of the greatest chase the apocalypse has ever known in this exciting sequel to Post-Apocalyptic Nomadic Warriors and Knights of the Apocalypse.

It’s the end of the world as you've never known it.

Love this series!

I only have two questions:
1) When are they going to make this into a movie? I'll help fund the Kickstarter if there is one :)
2) OMG the ending of book 3! When's #4 coming out?

It's an Acquired Taste
Very few authors can pull off this particular type of niche read in the post-apocalyptic field. In fact, Marc Tufo is the only other author I've read who has this unique flair for the overly dramatic, snarky dialogue, and comically ridiculous. If you're already a fan of either Benjamin Wallace or Marc Tufo, don't even bother to read further; just grab this set.

If you've never had the experience of laughing your way through the absurdity of a post-apocalyptic USA, well... you need to know what you're in for. Benjamin Wallace has taken the concept that only the rats and roaches will truly thrive in this time frame and turned it on its ear. In truth, it will be rats, roaches, and the ills of our common society that not only survive, but thrive. Picture of a group of survivors who were at a Renaissance fair when the "crappening" occurred. They've chosen to install the king of the fair as their Royal Family, looking toward a monarchy rather than a more modern form of government. But an ill wind blows in this kingdom.

Or just consider for a moment our heroic protagonist, a man known as the Librarian. He calls himself a Post-Apocalyptic Nomadic Warrior, which sounds WAY cooler than Librarian, and walks the land attempting to save, aid, and support the weaker survivors. He has a mastiff named Chewy and a lot of very cool toys. He's also got a serious White Knight complex, but he's a lot of fun. Sarcasm is his superpower, and he wields it like a double-edged sword.

My personal favorite new form of government is found in the third book, as our main characters come to the town of Tolerant. This is a nice change, since nearly every other new town in this survivalist world is named New Hope. But Tolerant's name isn't the only thing here that's unique. This former university town has taken some dynamic ideas that we hear touted regularly these days and turned them into absolute law. The result? I'll let Benjamin Wallace tell you all about it.

If you're looking for something that falls into the category of quirky while still providing some truly profound moments, this series has you in mind.

fun

The world ended in nuclear war. Some survived and struggle to survive in this Wild West apocalypse world. The MC is a librarian that became a post apocalyptic nomadic warrior.

In the first book he offers help to a town, gets rejected, while leaving there he finds teens posing as bears, a young woman who was the sole survivor of another town, and a slave caravan. He goes back to the town, exposes a saboteur, and frees the slaves. He organizes resistance to the incoming slavers, wins, and gets the girl.

In book two, the MC and his now wife/girlfriend go to a new town looking for car parts. The town is a grouping on Ren Fair people with a king and everything. Running afoul of corrupt laws, the MC is forced to go on a suicide “quest” to rescue a kidnapped princess. His wife is held as collateral, he goes rescues the princess only for her to be assassinated. A coupe throws his wife in prison so the MC creates a counter revolution. They win and install a democratic government.

In the third book, the MC is chasing his kidnapped wife. A bounty hunter took her to draw him out. She escapes and is recaptured but the bounty hunter is now hurt and needs help. The MC keeps just missing them. They all wind up at college campus turned town. Named Tolerance everyone there is intolerant. Hurt their feelings and you become a slave. The wife escapes and meets oddballs before meeting a nice normal couple and trusts them. The bounty hunter and MC are thrown into bloodgames together. They escape. The bounty hunter dies. The MC chases the normal couple who are really deranged bounty hunter/torturers. He fights and reunites with his wife only for her to die.

It’s a good story series that doesn’t try too hard and plays with post apocalypse tropes. The pace is steady. Good writing. Awesome narrator. Please enjoy

I wouldn’t call this story, as Amazon puts it, “Monty Python meets Mad Max”; if anything, I’d say it is closer to Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy but the fact is Wallace has his own unique style. The humor in this trilogy comes largely from the character's personalities. It never feels forced or cheesy. Also, the humor is not manufactured by some unusual setting or unusual circumstances like Space Balls jamming scene. The post-apocalyptic setting is not as gritty or dark as Mad Max but it does feel real (for the most part). The humor can sharply contrast with the situations the heroes find themselves in. I can see how some folks would not appreciate this, it reminded me of my team's conversations during combat missions. No matter how brutal the scene in front of us was we could still crack a joke.

I must admit I had low expectations going into this story. I expected a satiric fan fiction piece…I was way wrong; these books are incredible. I really had a hard time putting them down. I actually read the first one in one sitting. My only complaint is when a character is introduced in the second book and everyone in the story knew him. I felt like I might have missed something in the first book. Eventually, it was made clear.

Overall, the first three books are amazing.

This was a fantastic find of a lesser known but amazing book series. Entertaining throughout, well written with great characters (really enjoyed the stereotypes, my guilty pleasure), and the plot is well paced.
The Terry Pratchett-esque humour really worked out, loved the sarcasm and wittiness.
There really isn't anything i would change about this series - you guys ought to read it and i just bought the 4th volume to continue.

I read book one in this series, and loved it so much I bought the boxed set. This is laugh-out-loud funny apocalypse fiction. The author knows the genre inside-out and has sent it up beautifully in this trio of compelling stores. He's got a hero you can believe in, and he's pitted against some of the craziest and funniest situations - really worth a read!

Post-apocalyptic mayhem! Road warriors? Ren-Fest society? PC culture gone wild! Jerry a.k.a. The Librarian faces all the odds as a nomadic warrior. Armed with knowledge and a slobbering dog, Jerry tries to be a nice and save himself and his girlfriend Erica. Lots of violence with a generous amount of humor make this series enjoyable and diverting. The audio versions are excellent.

I don't often read Post Apocalyptic, but this was just simply GOOD. It was gripping and grabbed me in and sucked me in to the characters and their lives. Jerry is an amazing character and Erica is his heart, and you just can't get enough of Chewy the Dog. The end of Book 3 killed me in the heart and made me want revenge. Just read and enjoy it. Now on to book 4.

This was better than I expected

The author did a masterful job of making a series of humorous stories about the survivors of the apocalypse on American soil. I read the first 3 books in the series and am looking forward to reading the rest. The pacing of the books make them quite the page turners. Check them out.

This collection is a wild, fun ride from start to finish. Boom Box brings together the first three Duck & Cover adventures with humor, action, and a clever post apocalyptic twist. Benjamin Wallace blends comedy and chaos in a way that keeps the pages turning. The cover is bold and quirky just like the stories inside. A great pick for fans of offbeat adventures with a dystopian edge.

Enjoyable

Really enjoyed Benjamin's take on the apocalypse, a lot more light hearted than most but with some really dark looks into humanity. Would have been 5 but some bits are predictable but will still be reading the rest.

Post-apocalyptic mayhem

Entertaining and a quick read through this set of books, but it seemed like a little too much poking fun at the ways of society (social media, life of ease, etc etc) before the apocalypse.

Another post-apocalyptic story, centered around a "librarian" that spent the first year locked in a library with nothing to do but read. A lame premise. I believe in the power of books but not like that. The writing is good and the story lines are interesting but not enough to recommend.

Must read

Books with great characters, humor, quirkiness and a believable storyline are difficult to find. But this series nails it! Bravo!

I didn’t really like the plot, or the characters, or the tone. I think the author’s sense of humour is maybe not for me.

Amused, a little disappointed, and somewhat curious.

Downloaded this one on a lark as it had been described as Mad Max meets Monty Python. So, there's a little road-warrior activity, and the action scenes are reasonably well done -- So just a slightly annoyed Max and while it has some humorous moments, whoever invoked Monty Python had obviously never seen a movie or skit by the troupe. OK there is a town run by former Renaissance Fair workers -- but the hilarity is muted and not sustained.

There are enough suggestions that a "woke" worldview is responsible for the apocalypse that I can guess Wallace's political bent (which is not mine), but he thankfully doesn't dwell on that. I am, however, very curious how female readers find his female characters --- the arcs all strike me as a bit patronizing, the man always coming to the rescue (it seemed to me), the love narratives being pretty predictable.
