Lemillion making his stand is one of the high points of the entire series. I wish I'd seen more of the fight, but I guess the arc was stretching a bit long as it was.
One of the most epic story arc so far and this volume is jam-packed with action and emotion. Not only does is showcase leadership and heroism, it also explores our two top contenders’ willpower.
The emotions are also amazing here as everyone is at their current limits as they fight the villains.
For those of you who love Mirio, expect to adore him even more. Dude is so precious.
I regret ever hating on this series when I first heard about it. I was uneducated. I am in love. This is my favorite series right now. Holy shit. This volume. The art. The story. The characters. Midoriya. Lemillion. Eri. I can’t. Oh my god. This volume was amazing.
Rate:5/5—————————-top vol
This was such an amazing book! I loved seeing Toga and Twice have a really sweet moment. But the true star of this book was MIRIO! First of all, his special move being called the phantom menace was great. Second of all HIS LINE ABOUT CAPES WAS S OGOOD! He was in 1-B and had such low self-esteem and if he really lost his powers that’ll be so sad it’ll be amazing. I loved this book.

This was one of the best volumes in ages for the series. This volume actually broke me. I don't know how I will make it to April as I wait for the next volume.
As the raid continues, Lemillion has found Chisaki and his victim Eri and a powerful battle ensues, and Midoriya joins in later on, showing no chance at giving up. A (100%/Outstanding)
EN RESUMEN La Liga aparece. Mirio busca alcanzar a Chisaki y Eri.
ASPECTOS POSITIVOS - TWICE Y TOGA. SIEMPRE TWICE Y TOGA. - Mirio.
Cayó mucho en el tell, not show.
This volume continues the Internship Arc which will draw to a close in the next volume. That means Volume 17 has to fill in the climax of a fairly intense, battle oriented arc. The pacing is breakneck and the stakes feel a lot more real than they have recently in the manga. The characters (outside the core cast) don't feel safe.
The villains from Chisaki's group along with Toga and Twice all feel somewhat sympathetic. There's a lot more dabbling in gray here than I'm used to from shounen manga. It's clear that everyone has motivations and no one is just evil to be evil. The relationships between Chisaki and his henchmen, and Toga and Twice are particularly sweet...even if they are villains when it comes down to it.
Lemillion finally gets to shine as a hero in a huge battle spanning chapters. The art and action are phenomenal, and it also delivers some character development for him as well. There are lot of really cool panels here, which is quite a feat for someone with a face like TinTin.
We also get introduced to a few new and interesting quirks. My favourite part of this series is hands down finding out new quirks and seeing how they work. Horikoshi is so skilled with making the character designs reflect the powers it's impressive.
That said I did feel like the story line got a little messy. Sometimes it's a bit hard to tell what's going on. Every panel is hyper detailed to the point of being hard to distinguish at times. Sometimes the story got a little twisty for me with all the jumping back and forth through the timeline depending on what was happening during what. Eri's power is also never well explained. I came in knowing the details of her power so it wasn't a huge deal for me, but I definitely wouldn't have understood on a cold read.
As fun as this intense action is, I'm eager for this arc to wrap up. I can't wait to see more of Todoroki and Bakugo in their remedial classes and just get back to focusing on character growth in general. I'm never a huge fan of drawn out battle scenes.
I’m missing the original cast of characters but I understand wanting to keep the material fresh (and exciting for the creative team, I’m sure). This volume was packed with action, nearly every page featured a battle scene, primarily between Mirio and the Overhaul crew. It’s high stakes with Eri on the line - her storyline ended in a cliffhanger and we are promised one more volume to wrap up this arc. I have so many questions - what will come of Mirio now that he’s quirkless? What’s up with Nighteye’s vision? How will the heroes protect Eri without using her to their advantage (until she’s old enough to decide)? Also, where the hell is Todoroki.
This one was awesome!!! I was a bit worry with Lemillion on the cover, but this characters really grow on me and I like him more and more. The story still evolve and it has a ton of action so that was cool. The cast of characters keep expanding and most of them are really great so thumb up to the author to stay original and creative creating all those characters and making them interesting. One of the best volume of the series in a while, even one of the top ever in my opinion! Yeah I'm really enthusiastic with this one!
*read as part of Manga Madness Readathon (Round 5)*
This may be my favorite volume thus far. When I finished reading it I didn't know what to say or how to react. I was just shocked and impressed and in awe of everything that happened between the covers of this volume. And with the way that it ended...oh man, the wait for Vol 18 is going to suck.
if I'm being honest, I don't really care about this arc but mostly bc I'm an extremely "is this about todoroki? no? then I've lost interest" kinda person and that's a me problem
The heroes continue their attack on the yakuza secret base. They are trying to free a young girl named Eri who has been used for her blood. That blood is a key ingredient in a concoction that erases quirks, the special abilities that almost everyone has, resulting in the huge number of superheroes and supervillains in the story. This issue is mostly the battle, though the heroes discover (the hard way) that the bad guys have perfected the formula and weaponized it in the form of special bullets. Being My Hero Academia, even when a character loses his quirk he still fights like a hero. Heroism is a choice, not an accident.
Surprisingly little happens in this issue, other than lots of fights. The situation is sapping my will to read. I'll give this another issue, hopefully the story will pick up.
