Bridget is in trouble. Her mother is sick, and soon she’ll be going into the hospital for a month. Once she’s gone, Bridget will be alone in her house. Alone, except for her stepfather Todd.
There’s something off about Todd. He looks at Bridget in a funny way, his eyes hungry, unblinking. Recently, he’s started coming by the door to her room late at night. And once, just last week, she woke up with Todd standing there at the foot of her bed. In the dark. Watching her.
Todd is bigger than her, older than her, stronger than her. Bridget needs power, power to resist him, power to protect herself. Fortunately, she’s learned of a magic ritual that grants power to whoever carries it out. All she needs is a frog skeleton, a knife, and a moonlit night.
The ritual is easy, but carrying out the ritual is only the start. Once it’s done, a door is opened. Events are set in motion. Confrontation is inevitable.
If Bridget completes the ritual, she’ll gain the power she seeks. But if she commits this act, she’s going to need all the power she can get.
