Dear birthday gods,I’d like my very own Australian experience, if you know what I mean. One with a panty-melting accent and a very wicked grin. The icing on my birthday cake would be if he takes a trip down under tonight . . . My birthday was four-hundred bucks well spent. Get your mind out of the gutter—that was for the hotel. But one week on, and I’m no longer having fun in the sun.Because it turns out my new employer is him. My inked birthday blond.Oh, he’s still hot,But now he’s growly and grouchy,And there's no escape because I’m living with him. Nanny to his young twins. We disagree on so much. And when he looks at me, I’m not sure if he means to kill me. Or kiss meOr maybe both. I’m not sure I’d survive on either count. Australia! Come for the sun.Stay for the man. Forever? Down Under is a steamy fun romance between a growly single dad and his dusty booted nanny. It features a pair of rascally twins, a human (charity) auction, a happy ending, and plenty of lovin' in between!

I am guaranteed to LOL when I read a book from this author. Always. Her dialogue is some of the funniest I've read. This one had lots of heat to go with the laughs & a surprising amount of feels too. Byron and Amber had chemistry for days and I was hooked from their first encounter. Add in adorable twins & I was a very happy romance reader. Definitely recommend.

I received an arc of this book.

Down Under is a delicious feast for the senses that will have you quite simply drunk on love and laughter!
Donna has once again delivered a heady treat in this quirky, steamy page turner set in the picturesque Australian wine region of the Hunter Valley.

From the very first page she plants a lust filled seed into a fertile landscape of characters, that she nutures with raucous Aussie good humour, strong family sentiments and healthy dose of angst and sexual tension that you won't be able to put down and that will leave you well sated.

Backpacker Amber Hardy is looking for an Aussie experience that takes in more than the sights and scenery and after having her birthday wish granted by a hot stranger, is ready to see more of the country and work a little along the way, and so heads for wine country to try her chances.
She didn't however bargain for her new employer to be her mystery gift giver or for him to be quite as opposed to her presence as he seems.

Byron Phillips is the absolute package, and I'm not just alluding to that fact he owns a vineyard!
He exudes sexual promise from his pores, such is the vivid imagery Donna gives you of this delicious man - and that cover does little to deny this man is sinfully hot - but at his core he is also a driven, protective, fiercely loyal and loving man with a huge yet damaged heart and he is not in a hurry to let his one night dalliance with the fiery Amber derail his carefully structured world.

The chemistry between these two is off the charts hot and will have you rooting for them from the sidelines to get their act into gear and get their gear off!!
Throw into the barrel two wicked little troublemakers disguised as adorable cherubs, a delightful sagacious mother and a couple of cameos from Donna's previous books, and this menagerie will have you wishing to also run away to live amongst the grapes and wallabies with the promise of your own Happily Ever After!
This one’s a special blend that will linger on the palate and is well worth a gold medal rating!

Irresistibly Charming!
Down Under by author Donna Alam was nothing but pure fun to read. I can truly say I enjoyed everything about the story from chapter one on thru completing chapter thirty-five.
The storyline which takes place in Australia, was written very smartly with some of the pithiest dialogue I’ve read so far in this year. One thing the author or publisher could add for the benefit of the reader is an Australian Word Glossary as there were several words used that I had no idea what it was. There was at times good attempts to explain in the story but, an overall glossary might be useful.
The characters were fantastic. Amber and Byron were perfect for each other as they had the right amount of ego to meet the way they did. Sprinkle in the twins for additional charm and Sally for grace and it’s such a well round cast of characters on a vineyard.
It goes without saying that I’m definitely recommending this book. I know it will be one of those that will be difficult to put down, as it was for me. So, I am leaving this review for your consideration. Enjoy.

Let me start by saying I have a thing for Australia. The sun, the accent, the gorgeous people...yes please! I am already a big fan of Donna's and was excited for this read. Amber Hardy is a 3rd grade teacher who is taking a break from teaching to travel the world. Her 30th birthday finds her in Australia looking for a hot, hookup. She gets that and more from sexy, tatted, dirty talker Byron. They share a fantastic night together with no expectations of seeing each other again. However they can't keep their minds of each other and that steamy night in a Sydney hotel room. As fate would have it, their paths do cross again in a most unexpected way. Will their one night fling turn into something more or will it stay a happy memory? I thoroughly enjoyed both Amber and Byron as individual characters and as a couple. They were both smart, confident and real. They each had their own issues to sort through and I appreciated their journey. The secondary characters were also well developed. I enjoyed each one of them and they brought a depth to the story. If you are looking for a read that is sexy, steamy and just a thrill to read then one click, Down Under! It was unputdownable!!

Amber Hardy is backpacking her way around the world after realizing the life she was leading was not fulfilling. For her birthday she decides she wants a one night stand and she finds the perfect candidate.

Byron Phillips overhears Amber's call and decides he certainly can help her out. What he doesn't expect is his one night stand to show up on his doorstep applying for the nanny job with his mom. Byron knows this is not a good idea, but when circumstances leave her without another place to go, Byron relents. It is only a matter of time before lines are crossed and they act on it, but can it last?

This was fun. I enjoyed Amber's spirit. The second meet between Amber and Byron was fun to read. I have to go back and read the rest of the books in the series. Great story.

You'll need more than sunscreen to control this burn!
Down Under is undeniably hot, steamy, and so very, VERY satisfying. That accent. That ink. That body! One particular passage made the room go dark and nearly stopped my breathing, but what a way to go! Donna's books are always a cheeky delight; funny, witty, incredibly romantic and a little bit dirty, but this one may be her best yet. An incredibly gratifying happy ending. Pun intended.
More hot Aussies, please!

It was okay. I found it difficult to read because of the author's use of single quotation marks. It was very distracting to me and not what I am used to. Also, the way the heroine handled to conflict was so immature and what made it worse was that it was handled quickly then the book was over. Can we get a few more chapters after them making up? I guess not.

STRANGERS ‘DOWN UNDER’ -- I’M SENSING A PATTERN HERE …

How is it possible to enjoy this author in SO many ways and yet not rate this book higher? The reason is that I sense a pattern in her books.
Regardless of some really impressive writing, she also BADLY needs an editor. There’s ALWAYS an infectious meet-cute in her stories. The MCs crackle with banter and humor (often downright hysterical), extremely clever dialogue and phrases, and the kind of steamy mattress mambo that really rings my bell. But, you know that saying about too much of a good thing? It's so true. Overwritten scenes are dragged out far past the sweet spot where “it’s time to leave the party” and move on to the next scene. Not every thought or idea, no matter how good, needs to be crammed into every scene. Leave something for the next time.

Despite fab setups, her MCs have nothing else to do except chase and evade each other. Any other story direction is either thin or non-existent, and it takes too long for them to get together. No matter how much I like the characters or their clever banter, I find myself slowly getting antsy. Each book has followed the same blueprint. ~~ A meet-cute between strangers for a hot hook-up. They meet again later under coincidental, crazy circumstances … and the H becomes the h’s boss in some fashion. The inevitable push-pull romance is filled with denial as they resist temptation, but eventually give in … and then a quick finish. ~~ The end.

And so it goes for this book. Birthday sex for horny, world traveler Amber with hottie Aussie Byron “Down Under” after an embarrassingly funny meet-cute in an elevator. As much as any girl, I LUV the setup of sex with a hot stranger, followed by Amber's unexpected hire later as nanny to Byron’s kids, which then forces them to deal with their crackling chemistry. And although I’m not a mother, I’ve definitely warmed to the nanny-employer scenario. As a single dad with cutesy twins, Byron totally fits the bill. But, the book stumbles when it comes to the romance being all there is. Yes? No! Should we? Shouldn’t we? Never? Ever? A constant back and forth in a slow, draggy process of them surrendering to become a couple. It’s familiar, “straight up, no chaser” repetition, and takes 400+ pages for this slow-moving train to keep rolling down the same, repetitious track to an inevitable conclusion.

I’d love to give the author 5 stars. So much of her writing deserves it. Truly. She’s absolutely amazing in the ways mentioned. But, the proofreading errors, plot “insufficiency”, the padded length from overwritten scenes, and draggy pace – all detract from the whole. Those issues overshadow all the parts I loved, and not even a hottie Aussie could salvage it. If she would just harness that good writing style in better execution and plotting -- not just a succession of steamy sex scenes and MC battles in a “resistance is futile” relationship. I’ll keep reading her books for all that I love about her writing, and hope that she improves in these other areas. THEN, she’ll be unbeatable.

Amber is taking a break from teaching to travel the world. On her birthday she is in Australia and wanting a little birthday sex. What she didn't count on was for the hot guy from the elevator following her to the bar and then to her room giving her the best birthday sex ever. The next day she meets up with some backpack friends to continue her travels, When they end up at a vineyard looking for work. Which leads Amber to applying to be a nanny for a few weeks. She thought everything was going smoothly until the children's father arrived home. It seems birthday sex guy had some secrets of his own like he was a single father. Bryon is stunned and thinks that Amber has stalked him to his home. What will happen between them? Will Bryon claim Amber for his own?

This is a great story once I started it I couldn't put it down. The chemistry between them is off the charts hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

ONE SWEET TREAT!!!
Oh holy mama. Talk about thunder from down under. Donna bags this little gem with all the wit, charm, humor and a load of heat that really brings this amazing read roaring to life. A whirlwind of emotions and events that's as riveting as it is captivating from start to finish. The two main characters chemistry is intense and palpable. Twists and turns, ups and downs, along with unexpected circumstances that make for one incredible experience. The characters are complex and believable with such depth and individuality it's easy to relate. The scenes are so graphically detailed and descriptive you have no trouble picturing each scenario as they play off one another perfectly. Donna did an amazing job bringing this read together smoothly. Fantastic job Donna, thanks for sharing this little guy with us.

I Love Donna's books! I found myself laughing out loud at times, blushing at times, hear aching at times...I love that Byron in Flynn's brother - from the Hot Scot's series! Byron is in Sydney on business and sees and overhears a smoking hot red head tell her friend exactly what she is looking for on her birthday!! They have one incredible smoking hot night and that memory keeps them going for the next month. The last thing either expects is to see each other again, especially when Amber is in Byron's house with his mother telling him she is the new nanny!! They both have baggage from their pasts and try as they may to stay away from each other, the fail miserably - hotly!! This has a great story line, great characters and I highly recommend it, especially if you loved the Hot Scots!

Oh, bright heavens! This is as hot as it is funny. (Or is that as funny as it is hot…?) Either way, my sides hurt from laughing so hard and I’m pretty sure I have a sunburn from those scorching scenes. Amber and Byron are perfect for each other and utterly crazy-making. I loved watching the antics of this pair as they got to know each other. The twins and their nana came awfully close to stealing the show and just might have been my favorite characters. I can’t wait to read about the rest of the Phillips brothers.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book.

Fate is funny like that

One back packing woman in Australia decides on the best birthday gift she can give herself for her 30th b-day. In comes sexy tatted up Byron coming to give her exactly what she wants....but fate plays another trick on these two! Donna did it again with this funny, laugh out loud, heartfelt story of Amber and Byron. You will even get a little look at a past character. This book has shot up to my favorite by Donna and I think you will love it too!

Down Under by Donna Alam a five-star read you would happily go down under on. You come to expect charming and witty men that would melt your heart and your underwear when you read something by Donna Alam but Byron just melted so much more, I am even shedding a tear as I write as it’s over, we need more Aussie boys in our lives!! This is funny and sweet and hot!! All wrapped in one delicious package. I must give special mention to A Ridgy-Didge Glossary of Terms, there are now a bunch of auld Chooks in the other South Wales spouting some of the funniest phrases to make each other blush, and me spit me tea out!!

A birthday package

Byron and Amber's story is awesome. Single dad, hot single dad, and the nanny have to keep their hands off each other but for how long? I loved these two as they interact with each other trying to forget the night they had. How long will they deny the attraction that still sparks between them? And will Byron get his second chance at love with Amber? A sweet second chance romance with explosive chemistry.
An enjoyable read, heading to the next book in the series.

This book is a hot mess in the best of ways. It is hilarious. Amber and Byron steam up the pages. The twins are are a riot. Susan is a mom to die for. The author’s use of the Aussie dialect is wild. The slips between it and the American meaning of words make for some very comedic moments. It is filled with all the juicy pieces that make a spicy romantic comedy work very well. A truly wonderful story with great characters.

I love all of Donna Alam's books but this one is my new favorite! I thought the Scots were hot but I think the Aussies have taken the top spot. I think Bryon is even hotter than Flynn! This book is funny and steamy - my favorite combination. I love how Amber comes into Byron's life just at the right moment. You can't ignore that kind of chemistry. Love it!!!

**New-to-me-author**

What a fun and very sexy read! This book had me laughing out loud and was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed it.

Byron Phillips was one smokin' HOT Aussie - a definite fantasy come to life! Amber Hardy is one lucky woman to have been able to celebrate her 30th birthday with Byron being THE best present ever.

Without going into too much details (read the book and enjoy), this book was a refreshing read. An enjoyable exposure to some "down-under" romance - and of course accents, culture and of course quirky language for those not familiar with everyday "Aussie" terms.

This reader enjoyed the flow of the story. The initial meeting and the one night of pleasure shared by the couple. The reason that Fate worked it's way for them to meet again was not as creepy (employer and nanny trope). Both were above the age where it does not cross a line. What I found slightly disturbing was the portrayal of Amber for her age. A thirty year old American teacher, who decided to explore the world (can really appreciate this no matter what age), but it seem too far fetched. Meaning, I can understand needing to work in order to support herself during her travels, but it wasn't to realistic for someone who should have some financial plans prior to her adventures.

The story itself was enjoyable. It was fun to watch the couple try to have a normal employer/employee relations and move on from that one night. The sexual frustrations experienced by both was entertaining to watch and when they finally give in to their temptation - WOW - Byron's sexual prowess burns the pages and Amber's own equally matches his. The balance of the "smexy times" and the sweet family times really made this a good read. Byron's 4 year old twins, Matthew and Edana, stole some scenes which made the story more endearing.

Brownie points for Amber's dream and how Byron planned to fulfill them! (Yes, sweet pun intended!)

This was my first read by Donna Alam.
I enjoyed it. The characters had chemistry,
and I loved the family dynamic, especially
the kids.
Byron was sweet, strong, and knew what
he needed and didn't need in his life.
Amber was a carefree spirit, backpacking
across Australia.
They meet as a hot, steamy one night
stand, and both were left thinking about
the other. We move forward and Byron
needs a nanny for his kids.
These two had fireworks. I believed in
the story. I didn't like the misunderstanding
-it seemed too contrived, like the author
just needed something to pull them
apart, just to put them back together again.
And, since she was using Becci, it could
have been better done, if we had a little
more history of Becci. I needed a little
more drama, just more. Then the book
literally just ends. I hate that kind of
ending. I invest time into stories and
characters, a last minute get together and
it just ends. No thank you.
The writing was good, story and characters
good, but the ending threw me off of the
author.

Deader than Old Dads hat band.

I was excited to read this because I loved Amber’s quips in Liar Liar, and surely a whole book about her would be funny as well as steamy, but no. To start with, the characters were extremely flat and one dimensional, and the story, what little of it there was, was stilted and forced. The dialogue was choppy, and felt unnatural, no doubt due to the author’s fanatical devotion to inserting every single Aussie slang word, phrase, idiom and colloquialism ever. So much so, that at one point I actually groaned out loud and nearly tossed the book across the room in frustration, but I was reading it on my phone and I love my phone too much to do that to it. I get that you need to inject a little local flavour into a story, but not all of it, to the point where the dialogue becomes just an excuse to stuff another cringeworthy bit of slang in. It actually seemed like more time was spent coming up with ways to insert a conversation that was completely unnecessary in terms of the plot, just so she could add a bit more Australiana, than developing a story about two people meeting and falling in love (with some hot shagging because let’s face it, we’re here for the smut as much as the romance). Very little thought went into the adversity that Amber and Byron would have to overcome before their HEA, and as for the ending, utterly implausible is barely adequate. Amber gave no indication of where she was going, so how did he find her? And don’t get me started on the whole journal loss and subsequent find. There was a very strong stench of “Yay! I’ve reached my allotted word quota for this story, now let’s finish it off as quickly as possible.” I really struggled through this, so much so that it nearly became number 5 on the list of books I DNF out of the thousands of books I’ve read. There’s two more books to go in this series and I’m really hoping that they’re more like the first one. Also, she’s right in saying we Aussies are a sweary lot, and we don’t like seeing our carefully crafted swears mashed up or in the wrong place. I’m sorry for being so critical, and whilst I’m usually a card carrying member of the ‘ if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all’ club, I’m hoping the author reads her reviews and casts a more critical eye over any forthcoming work.

A first read for me by this author and what a little gem to start with. Down Under is such a well written, fun story, and just my cup of tea. This book is without a doubt a great pick me up. I loved each and every character for different reasons and it brightened my day no end.

Amber is taking some time away from her job and life in the US and is currently backpacking around Australia, working odd jobs in order to fund her travels. I love this woman. She’s smart, confident, quirky and hugely endearing. After treating herself to a hot stranger and a night in a fancy hotel for her 30th birthday, she teams up with Rose and a motley crew of fellow backpackers and heads off to wine country in search of a job. Having arrived at a winery, Amber gladly accepts a job as nanny to four year old twins Matty and Edie. These kids are adorable, their characters are brilliantly written and their innocent remarks had me in fits. Not merely side characters, the twins play an important, almost scene stealing, role in the story. Their Nana, Sally, is a hoot and the sort of grandma I would’ve loved growing up. She’s a no nonsense kind of woman with a kind heart, a twinkle in her eye and a spring in her step.

Despite being a drop dead gorgeous Chris Hemsworth look-alike, second impressions of Byron (the first impressions were that he was the best birthday present ever, in case you were wondering), are that he’s irritable and standoffish, and quiet frankly a bit of a grumpy git. As the story progresses, we get to know him and before long, his real personality shines through. He’s a lovely man underneath all the abrasiveness and cynicism. He oozes sexual chemistry and this author does a fantastic job of letting us “hear” his swoony Australian accent. Whilst I wouldn’t say the story is overly angsty, not everything in the garden, or should I say vineyard, is rosy and Amber and Byron have some challenges to overcome before they can find their happy ever after.

A hugely enjoyable story, Down Under is fun, flirty, and naughty, with lots of cheeky humour and sexy shenanigans. It had me laughing my head off and I absolutely loved it.
