Phoenix is book 1 in the Howlin Ranch series

When Alpha Phoenix Bardolf is informed that three boys in his care have shifted and are headed up Haystack Mountain, he isn’t immediately concerned. It’s off season and rare to have campers vacationing this late in the year.
Learning that his assumption that the mountain is empty is wrong and that there is one lone camper in the path of the boys, Phoenix and his brother Dallas head out to avert a possible tragedy. What concerned him the most was not that the young boys would harm the camper, but that the camper would harm them. Three young, curious wolves could be seen as a threat by someone alone in the wilderness.
Ellis Grant is alone on the mountain to heal after her father’s unexpected illness took him from her far too soon. When a wolf’s cry pierces the night, she sees it as a sign from her father. Her father loved wolves. Answering the call with a howl of her own seemed like a good idea, right up until she realized there was more than one wolf out there and they were headed right for her.

Great start to a new Series
After her father's death a few months ago, Ellis packed up her life and headed to the mountain that they had planned their next camping trip. Though the first snow would be coming soon, Ellis felt compelled to go. The first night on the mountain and she was already finding some peace. When she head the wolf call, her fathers spirit animal, she new she made the right decision. Calling back to the wolves, my not have been her best idea, when the largest wolf she had ever seen shows up at her camp, followed by 3 smaller ones.
Phoenix is the alpha of the Howlin pack. The oldest of 5 brothers. He has an identical twin, Dallas, his beta, and is also a triplet. His third brother Jackson, a medic. Denver and Austin, twins a few years younger. He works as a park Ranger, takes care of his pack, and dodges the she wolves looking to snag an alpha for a mate. His parents were true mates and he will settle for no less.
When word reaches him of an out of season camper on a collision course with the young Lovell brothers, it's a welcome diversion from the mixer he is hosting.
When Phoenix meets Ellis, he is unsettled by her. Ellis has never been so drawn to a man before. He and the mountain make her feel like home. He also make her feel unwelcome, while his brother Dallas and mother Addy, welcome her like family. His family suspects they are mates, but he isn't so sure. He isn't ready for a mate, being an alpha in charge of a pack he doesn't even know what to do with a human mate. The youngest Lovell has visions. Ellis is tied up in them. When she learns the truth, Phoenix may have caused enough harm to her that he will never get her back.
Loved Ellis and Phoenix's story. Loved Dallas, who is almost the polar opposite of his older twin. Jackson, the youngest triplet, is much like Dallas. Denver and Austin are introduces but are background characters. Loved Addy, she is the best kind of mom. The young Lovell brothers are good kids. Hope their human mother, who has become a good friend to Ellis, finds a second chance at love. Can't wait for the next book.

Thing is, the story itself I would probably give 4 stars.
It's the writing quality that makes me want to put 1, or even -1, here.
All the typos, the syntax, the punctuation, the redundant sentences, misused idioms, the annoyingly choppy dialogues where every character sounds exactly the same... I really hate to say it, but it's horrific. It's the worst I've seen in a while.
Here is a couple of random examples I could remember:

"He growled at the boys, who stopped, tipping their head back and forth, as if they were considering ignoring his command."

"How is some Human homeless girl going to except that fate has forced its hand?"

"... You get cast out or live a life of solitude just because you are prejudice?"
"I am not prejudice."

And it felt like there was something like this at least every couple of pages, if not on every page.

Dear author, please get a good editor. And a proofreader. And preferably a couple of beta-readers.
(Also, saying that the main character is the only one to have "Ellis" as a first name...is "a bit" of a stretch...)

The story itself easily had potential to be good easy shifter romance book (not amazing, but pleasant enough) I could've seen myself reading more than once...if I didn't have to trip over basic grammar mistakes and random question marks in non-question sentences all over the place.

Engaging read!

This is a new author for me, and I am thoroughly enjoying her writing.
The characters are relatable, the dialogue realistic, and the storyline is both interesting and entertaining.
The alpha has found his true mate, but because she is human and unaware of the shifter world, he is conflicted about how to approach her with the way he feels. He’s also a little afraid of her rejecting him.
It doesn’t help that he isn’t good at communicating his feelings.
Ellis only knows she is unexplainably attracted to the growly, gorgeous man who seems to either be irritated by her, or distancing himself from her.
Will they ever figure it out and get together, or will Phoenix’s hesitation to talk it out with her cost him more than he will ever recover from?
Read this first book in the series and find out!

Phoenix: Howlin Ranch Book1

I had to give this book a five star rating. There wasn't any way I couldn't!
When a story is so good you can't put the book down and each word keeps you reading on, you have no choice. Keep on reading. You have
to continue on. So,that's just what I have done. It's 3:46 in the morning. I came to bed at 2:00 a.m., I have to get up at 6:30 a.m.. I just had to keep going, so near to the end! Finally, made it!? How about that!?
Hey keep reading folks, believe it or there 's MORE HOWLIN RANCH COMING!!
Goodnight!!

A wonderful fun book

I have to give Lynn Leite a great big thank you. I was in a readers slump where nothing sounded good and had been in one for a long time. This book brought me out of my slump I thought it was a fun book to read. I couldn't put the book down it pulled me in from page one till the very last page. I can't wait till the second howling ranch book comes out. Thank you so much Lynn Leite for writing such a good book you are very talented.

Good premise that fizzle out

The start of the book was great. I liked the premise, the 3 wild boys and their impact. However, the resolution felt rushed. The coming together, the mating, the explanations and even sub plots resolution were all just blah. It is as if the author had lots of time in the beginning and then hit deadline issues and just wanted to finish. Also, the latter part of the book needs a good edit. Way too many ? At the end of statements.

Good book, great story and a wonderful female lead who knows how to hit hard headed males hard enough to rattle some sense into them. The only issue I had was the number of sentences that ended with a question mark, even ones that should not have as it made following the dialogue somewhat painful in areas.

Phoenix

Ellis lost her father just 3 months ago, her mother left when she was 2. She packed up and headed to the mountains she and her dad had planned on visiting before he became sick. A lot of things led her to become the mate of the Alpha of the Bowling Pack, befriending a 13 year old shifter with a gift who leads her to her missing mother. Love Lynn Elite.

Great Quick Read

I love all of Lynn Leite's books. I love the fates mates theme that is always consistent. The only drawback - that doesn't really detracts from the reading experience - is the editing. If she was ever in the market for an free editor I'm always available.
