Hoowee! Alison Brownstone and company kick major dark mage bootie and have fun doing it. Will Mason survive James Brownstone's questions about his relationship with Alison? Another fairly typical Alison Brownstone story. In this book we get to find more details of the Dark Wizards’ plans to take over the world, but although there are several incidents, their plans don’t really go anywhere. I did find myself slightly confused about the number of Dark Wizards. Over the last couple of books, lots have been killed, yet they seem totally unconcerned about the losses. How big a proportion of the population are Dark Wizards?
Book five is a real mix of high octane battles, alongside a slower, calmer air, where Brownstone Security LLC slowly builds up both its employees, and its reputation!
I enjoyed reading this, as the characters became ever more real to me - plus, it was fun to have a Welsh character being introduced, with me being part Welsh, myself, and having spent 3/4s of my life living here in Wales- although I'm hoping that Alison can do to Drysi, what she did with Hana, and change her outlook on life!
I was both happy, and gutted, when I read about Myna, and discovered that my supposition about her curing Alison's AMDS Virus was correct.
It's wonderful that she's so committed to teaching Alison everything she knows, but it's also so very sad, that she took what she did upon herself, and is dying even more quicker than she had been, when she first met Alison, without accepting a closer relationship with her.
It was also great to have Luke in this story, and I hope more of Alison's friends, from the School of Necessary Magic, appear in this series somewhere.
But, as this is the end of book five, I will go on to book six, next: ' The Dark Princess' and, once I finish reading this, I'll catch you on the flip side, to let you know what I thought of it!
Arrogant much.. that is the dark wizards motto. They like other people who think they should rule and control everything do so because they think they are above everyone else. Like those drivers who ignore the sign that shows that the lane ends and to merge but they ignore it so they can get in front of everyone else. Yeah.. they are all cut from the same idiot clay. If all people in the world wanted the best for everyone what a wonderful world it would be. I so do not understand this new witch who Allison thinks is great can work for the dark wizards when he treats her the way he does. Yeah it's in the authors notes but really why let anyone treat you less than unless you are getting something really great out of the relationship. Oh I guess I'm rambling, my bad. Was nice to see the team defend the building even if it suffered damage. I wish I could get a job working with them. A good read even if I found myself shaking my head at the antics.
Having enjoyed the Alison Brownstone books so much, I had to question; why had I failed to read the earlier stories? The answer was that the first school of necessary magic books were too short for my tastes, and though other books were available to read for free through Kindle Unlimited the first of that series was not. I tend to avoid any book with less than 300 pages and note when they use fluff to enlarge the page count. Most books take me right at 50 pages per hour to read, giving me a solid six to eight hours of entertainment per title. Many readers will not have the same tastes as myself and will be quite happy for smaller and quicker reads. These books are fun and light entertainment, nothing life changing, just good fun. Enjoy! I certainly have.
Martha Carr and Michael Anderle continue this wonderful series based on the blending of Earth and amazing, magical Oriceran. Unfortunately there is always someone who wants to spoil things; enter dark magic wizards. But there is a new Brownstone in town. Alison, daughter of the Granite Ghost, kicks major ass to protect innocents and friends. The war against evil is heating up in this installment, resulting in some tough battles and close calls. Keep the stories coming Martha and Michael! I am on to the next book immediately!
Plans within plans within even more plans - that tells you about Dark Wizards. But in this case, it didn't matter. No plans withstood meeting Alison! The action in this story takes part in both Seattle and Washington, D.C. Alison meets a new witch who helps her out, meets back up with Luke, her friend from high school, and meets up with four amulet wearing powerful wizards. Exciting story from first to last! Enjoy!
A great series with a great cast of characters built in a far reaching world of magic and normal humanity. One of several Siri’s in this magical world with supernatural magical characters fighting the good fight against dark wizards evil creatures and bad guys. Characters from each of the different series interact and crossover on occasion. All of the series or extraordinarily entertaining and action-packed. Check them all out
This book really heightens the mystery of the series. I really enjoyed all of the books and recommend that you start at the beginning because it reads as a continuous story even though each book is individual. This series is related to the unbelievable Mr. brownstone. That’s a really fun Series and I have reviewed some of them as well. It is not necessary to read them but it will make Allison’s story that much more enjoyable.
Thanks to her friends, Allison may be more like her father than she planned on. With a new roommate, I look forward to seeing more of that small adventure. We get to visit Luke, who is still pining for a large part of his youth and has traded in kicking butt to passing laws. What happens to Brownstone Security when Allison is out of state and can her friends handle it? Will the Lincoln memorial survive a Brownstone visit?
Alison knows in her gut that the dark wizards are up to something. But what? I very much enjoyed the scenes that included James Brownstone. It was fun wnen he met the "man" in Alison's life. I like the action, snarky humor, and romance. What happens when Alison and her team are attacked while separated by continent? I look forward to the next book.
In the finest Brownstone tradition, Alison takes care of her friends, cares for the weak and destroys evil doers all to advance her business by keeping her clients safe. Old school friends, dark wizard's machinations and her father meeting her paramour keep it going to the treacherous end!
You really don't need to say more. The story are simple and clean. They flow nicely and good read on a cold winter day, where the best thing is to curl up with a good book, a nice cup of tea and warm fire. Lose yourself for a few hours it is time well spent. I love the character and the series.
More dark wizards trying to kill Alison Brownstone in Washington DC while a group of them attacked Mason, Hana, Tahir and Ava at the new Brownstone building and in both instances the wizards got their asses handed to them.
No romance and the F-bomb was used 25 times.
As for the narration: Kate Rudd? One of the very best.
I loved this book but there's something missing, I feel like the story is slow to develop and I kind of wish we had a side storyline, like with YTT in the Leira Chonicles. Yet sometimes side stories can be annoying so it really depends on how much you care about a particular character. If it was a Mason one, I wouldn't care at all. Once the story kicks in though, it's fast fast fast!
Another book in the series that further rounds out the characters, brings in a new team member and throws in new plot twists. Has all the action / violence / bad assery one would expect based on previous books. Eagerly awaiting the next book.
Lots of action in this one. Alison takes on a ton of dark wizards and wipes the flip with them. Even a direct attack on her building is thwarted by her team. A menace appears in the form of a friend and I'm sure we'll third of Welsh witch.
Brownstone shows up in this one in straight up Dad mode.Funny as hell!Alison continues to prove she's her Fathers daughter.Nature or nurture.Dark wizards persist in playing in her sandbox.Looking forward to the next one
Interesting brush with characters from the Artifact story! These Alison stories are simply perfect. Oriceran as a whole is one of my all time favorite series! Right up there with the Kurtherian Gambit!!!
Reading Alison's stories is dangerous - nothing gets done until the book is finished, not eating, working or packing to shift which I should have been doing since I woke up instead of reading this.
Another novel full of action, suspense, and surprises. The plot is deepening and we know something big is going on, but what??? I’m loving how Alison continues to grow and develop, along with her friends. I can’t wait to see what book 6 brings!
Another great book in the series, what can I say it was fast-paced, full of action, and great characters that you’ve come to know and love. Can’t wait for the next book in the series
If it's not saving the normals, it's saving the historical monuments. Great characters with realistic action scenes. I love this series and hopefully I will have many more to read. I look forward to more from this series 😁
Maybe it's me..The talk about this and that got to me. I am an older man some of the dialogue seemed to long and pointless. However I am a committed fan and dig the series.
Nice cameo of Madge and BG from Daniel Codex. Equally nice to see another friend from the School series. Nice development of characters. I'm off to read the next book.
Well this book defiantly has added more than just a few characters to the pot. There are many plots hidden and revealed than a good spy novel . Defiantly worth keeping up with the series.
I'm enjoying this series. Finally getting to know more about Alison's Father. Both her relationship with Mason and Hana's relationship with her boyfriend continue to develop and Alison's Company continues to do well. Myra is also continuing to polish Alison's Magic.
Bicoastal melees and all I can think of is that I absolutely LOVE Ava. Of course, there are the main characters, and the new side characters, which I have mixed emotions about, but Ava, she’s freaking awesome.
