After surviving my time in the Void, I just wanted a little peace and quiet. But a pissed-off special agent from a mysterious federal agency thinks I'm to blame for a recent string of magical disasters. So to avoid indefinite incarceration, I have to go on the run...
No problem, right? I'll just head to the wild reaches of West Texas and hide out until things blow over in Austin. Drink some brews with my buddies, sing campfire songs, do some hiking and stargazing, and chill.
Or so I thought.
Unfortunately, creatures lurk along the border that are just as sinister as the monsters back home. A murderous specter is haunting the Rio Grande, revenants are prowling the park, and a legendary cryptid looks like it's to blame. To complicate matters further, an ancient skinwalker is calling in a debt I owe--one that could cost someone their soul.
In the end, I'll play a deadly game of cat and mouse before I finally face the person behind the schemes and lies. But my enemies don't know what they've bargained for, because at the end of the day, a druid will always have his due...

M.D. Massey describes himself as the prototypical INTJ. His eclectic background provides him with a rich tapestry of experiences to draw on when crafting fiction, as evidenced by the believable worlds and relatable characters he creates.
As a former Army combat medic (91B), professional martial arts instructor (Krav Maga, JKD, FMA), and women's self-defense instructor, he possesses a unique understanding of close combat, firearms, and criminal violence that few authors can match. This knowledge provides an element of realism to the Druidverse™ novels, setting them apart from other fantasy series.
Mr. Massey lives in the Texas Hill Country with his family and a huge American bulldog that keeps him company while he writes. When he's not in his office or at the local coffee shop writing, you can find him in his garage pummeling inanimate objects or knife-fighting with his friends.
Another great book from author M. D. Massey! The plot is excellently twisted and complex, with plenty of action and just enough humor to sweeten the pot. The story is engrossing, fascinating and will suck you in before you realize it.
It never fails to amaze me, the things Colin does and gets involved in. Especially considering that he's still just a kid, for the most part. After all, he's only 20 years old…the age when most guys his age are still trying to figure out who they are and what they want to be. Ever since his life slid sideways, he's had to grow up hard, and he's had to grow up fast…and the hits just keep on coming. He has matured a lot since the series started, comparatively speaking. In Druid's Due, Colin is facing more turmoil and trouble in his personal life, and his magical life, than any young druid needs or wants. The Feds are after him, and he winds up going on the run with Jesse, Hemi and Fallyn. Old debts are being called in by old enemies…debts he really doesn't want to repay in the fashion requested. And someone is working on making the Hellpocalypse happen, right in Colin's backyard (so to speak). To top it all off, the three women who have been turning Colin's life upside down on the personal front have joined forces…never a good thing for the man in question. What's a poor druid to do? Why, fight smarter and …well, you'll need to read Druid's Due to find out just what Colin has up his sleeve and how he solves his latest series of misadventures.
These books are almost getting to be predictable! You pick the book up open the first page and you cannot put the book down until you finished! What a great way to spend an afternoon or evening! Do yourself a favor and read this book!
This was an awesome addition to this series about Colin McCool. I think it is one of the best. Colin has grown quite a bit since our introduction to him and now has connected to the "Great Oak and the Grove." His magic now is connected to both of them and he is the master of the magic that it provides...which is a good thing. Not only has he had to nurture the Oak and Grove to bring them back from almost oblivion, but he has to defend them all while still in the "Void" until the Oak and Grove are strong enough to get them back home. Going home is not the welcome relief he has anticipated. The Feds come 'aknocking' and he is on the run again. There is no peace for them even under the stars out in the dessert and mountains. The "Feared Druid," Stanley and Ernesto, the skin walkers, the Chubracabra, and all kinds of paranormal creatures are either there to help or destroy. The feds are still after them, three women are after him, and somehow he has to save everyone and himself. A great read, one that us paranormal lovers will enjoy as well as the rest of the series. I would highly recommend this book and series to anyone to read.
Colin gets out of one sticky situation just to find himself in more sticky situations and ALL the females in his life together and organizing his life without his input, what could go wrong??
I’ve been following The Colin McCool Series from the first book, and today, I just finished reading the latest installment, “Druid’s Due”.
To say that I loved this book wouldn’t be enough. The story grabs you from the very first page and it is practically impossible to put it down. Everything about this book is excellent – the plot, the humor, the non-stop action, the details and explanation of how magic works, and the romantic elements. The fighting scenes are written so realistically that you feel like you are actually there, watching it. Colin is defiantly a trouble magnet, but a very likable one. By any means, he is not perfect, but perhaps it is his imperfections that make him feel so real.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes to read Urban Fantasy, action-packed novels.
Colin McCool is a delightful hero and reading about his antics in my metaphorical backyard makes this series even more fun. I might just go look for a giant oak in Zilker Park!
The one thing I had trouble with was the fact that the hero essentially got raped but it a man getting fooled into have sex with a female he didn't want to have sex with so that's ok. Here's a test to see if a thing or action is sexist or racist . Change the race or sex of the people involved in it. If it no longer ok it's bad
Colin McCool is at it again, but he's learning how to.let go. This story really got to me in a way the other books didn't. Such a great story by a great writer.
Colin’s fully bonded to the Grove and he’s been practicing. That’s a good thing because there are enemies looking for him and the Feds want a piece too. This was a good read for me, and I thoroughly enjoyed. No matter how powerful Colin becomes, he still has a soft spot for the underdog. It’s certain to get him in trouble again, and in this story it does. I’m already looking forward to his next adventure.
Absolutely utterly totally brilliant! Best one so far. I'm a huge fan of MD Massey and this is his best book yet. I'm gutted that I've finished it so soon and I'm going to have to wait for the next one. Highly recommended!
Our druid again faces multiple enemies and steep odds. What will the cost of survival be for Colin? Lots of action & plenty of our favorite characters come together for the best Junkyard Druid book yet! Storylines are tied up and interesting new ones opened. If you're debating trying this book, just go for it. You won't be disappointed!
The entire series is outstanding. This book was no exception. Nobody does fight scenes as good as Massey. The cupacabra was a nice surprise. Looking forward to the next book.
As usual this was a real page turner and I just could not put the book down. And now the real fun starts once again, the wait for the next Junkyard Druid book to be published.
Action and humor from the very beginning. Many references to current issues, popular myths and conspiracy theories (or are they?). My favorite character is Larry.
