This is a cute one. Stanley not only delivers the mail but is there where they open it. And it's not Stanley's fault that Hattie got a speeding fine in the mail... Stanley's just delivering the mail.

Another installment in the adventures of Stanley's many occupations. We learn that Myrtle probably has an expensive shopping addiction, Little Woo's grandparents are pretty rad, Charlie is quite a catch, and Hattie is a problem driver.

I didn't think this series was too special at first but now I really love it. Works well for toddler storytime. Also, I'm usually not keen on illustrations that look too noticeably digitally created, but these are ultra-cute and perfect for the intended audience. Bold lines and bright colors are a good thing for the toddler set.

Children of all ages love to get mail. And it can feel mighty good to send mail, as well.

Just today I mailed a thank you note to somebody special. And when I saw my mailman, I smiled and said hello.

How is that different from when I was picture book age? Seems like neighborhoods were friendlier. Much as I enjoy my current neighborhood, most days there's precious little chance to say hello.

And no, emails and texts don't carry the same sense of specialness as a letter, do they? So I celebrate this cheerful, clear account of what Stanley does as a mailman.

Child-friendly version here, perhaps, with the idea that "Stanley gets up very early to sort all the packages and letters." This character, Stanley, may be a stand-in for the entire staff of a local post office.

As with the previous Stanley book I've read and reviewed here, "Stanley the Farmer," the work is balanced friendliness, contact with other people.

AS FOR THE ENDING

Although I won't do a spoiler here, no no! It's surely allowed to say that the ending is exactly the same as the ending of a day in the life of Stanley as a farmer. A sweet routine!

FIVE STARS again to William Bee for this splendid, gently educational book.

'Stanley the Mailman' is the perfect story for the preschool age and Storytimes. Bright illustrations, a fun story, and a great little guessing game for younger children as to what is in all the packages the townsfolk have received. The Stanley series is wonderful for children who love to read titles that feature the same characters.

William Bee always seems to have his tongue firmly in cheek, and this is no exception. Stanley delivers the mail to a mix of people, some containing fancy tiny hats from Paris, some getting tons of love letters ("he's a catch"), and lastly someone getting a speeding ticket (for going 120 mph!) A little odd, and a little more for the benefit of grown-ups than for kids.

The Stanley series is just fantastic. I wasn't familiar with it when my boys were little, but reading it to my grandson is a highlight of my week.

Simple, predictable adventures with easy-to-read words. A tidy wrap-up, "well, what a busy day! It's time for supper and a bath. And time for bed."

And lots of fun side characters with their own little quirks. Makes it fun to read as a grownup, too.

Favorite Stanley book so far! A story full of mail and package deliveries. Love how each book begins with a collage of related objects. Not sure if they are technically end papers, but they are definitely cool.

This was a very cute and easy read for story time. The kids can even try to guess what each person is going to get in the mail. This would also be a really good introduction before you start teaching how to write a proper letter. Very simply story but you can do a lot with it.

Stanley the mailman delivers letters and packages to animals on his mail route. We see what each one receives and their reactions to their mail.
This short and simple book is a good supplement to a community helpers unit, and to the post office unit in Kindergarten around Valentine's Day.

Another picture book about Stanley, the hardworking hamster. This time Stanley is a mailman delivering letters and packages to his community. This will be an entertaining and useful addition to preschool units about community helpers.

What does a mailman do? This book shows young ones a bit of the job and those he/she may encounter.

Part of a series of jobs for people/critters for kids.

Apparently, Charlie is quite a catch. Even in this world, there is excess packaging and Hattie has ANOTHER speeding ticket.
Then of course, Stanley in the bath with his newly delivered boat.

This cracked me up. You wouldn't expect it to be hilarious just by looking at the cover, but...it is. I think I snorted with laughter when Charlie received his bundle of mail. 😂 And Hattie! Who knew she was such a speed demon?! The addresses on the parcels were also amusing.

I confess I read this to myself because baby wasn't interested at the time...but was happily compelled to share portions aloud for the listening pleasure of all within earshot. We mused upon the idea of what things would be like if we addressed packages similarly in real life. 😆 Somehow I think we'd know all our neighbors, and then some!

I love Stanley books. 😄 I need to buy this one.

Stanley knows what it's like to work hard and he's at it again. He's getting up before the sun to sort through letters and packages. He drives off on his scooter to get the mail delivered. First stop is Myrtle's house to drop off her order from Paris. Little Woo gets a present from his grandparents Stanley delivers a lot of love letters to Charlie. You go Charlie! But not everyone is happy with what Stanley brings.

Through bright illustrations and cartoon like characters, toddlers will delight in learning what it takes to be a mailman. Read it aloud enough and those toddlers will be waiting on the porch for their very own package from their mailman. A charming look at what comes in the mail along with what it takes to get it there.
