Brooke Summers has been in love with the same man for years. But when he breaks the news of his engagement, her world crumbles. Seeking a fresh start, she moves to the charming town of Harbor Springs, Michigan, where her two sisters live with the men they love. But her sisters aren’t the only ones happy to see her…
Hidden feelings.
Mason Woodward first met Brooke a year ago when she came to Harbor Springs to visit her sister, Beth. Now, Beth is married to his brother, Colton, which practically makes them family. Mason was attracted to Brooke from the start, though he suspects she’s still hung up on a past love. But that doesn’t mean they can’t be friends, right?
Simmering passion.
But being friends with someone you’re attracted to isn’t so easy. When Brooke’s well-meaning sisters conspire to bring them together, Brooke and Mason experience a weekend of revelations and passion. A weekend that changes everything and proves they might just be…The Perfect Blend.
The Perfect Blend is the third book in the Harbor Springs Series. Though each book can be read as a standalone, you may want to read them in order to learn more about the characters and how they’re connected.
The Perfect Blend by Susan Coventry is a heart warming tale of romance between Mason and Brooke. Brooke has had a secret crush on Kyle for the last seven years. They are best friends but she wants more. Kyle has no clue about how she feels. It is the last straw for Brooke when Kyle tells her he is engaged to be married and wants her to be his best man.
Both of her sisters live in Harbor Springs and after Kyle's announcement she just up and moves back home. No notice or goodbye to Kyle. She is too hurt for that. Mason first met Brooke at her sister's wedding and he has never forgotten her. Now that she is back, he is hoping for something more. It ends up he is in the friend zone.
How do Brooke and Mason go from friends to something more? Brooke is also a virgin and had been saving herself for Kyle. What happens when Mason finds out? There are times you will cry along with Brooke. Then there are times you want to shake each of them. The Perfect Blend will have you turning those pages wondering what will happen next. I love Susan Coventry's books and once you read one you will want to read all of them. I loved The Perfect Blend and hated for it to end.
What a perfect end to the Harbor Springs series with Brooke & Mason! I knew I would love this book. Mason has been interested in Brooke ever since he met her. Brooke was even drawn to Mason but since she continued to be stuck up on Kyle she couldn't see what else was possibly out there. Thank goodness we finally get to the point where they can explore and see if they want to be more than friends/family. My favorite part of the book was when they finally admit they are in love with each other and Brooke said "Back when I was stupid and foolish and didn’t see the wonderful man right in front of me. But I see you now, and I see our future, and it’s everything I ever wanted. We’re the perfect blend.” Awwww.... FINALLY!
So not only were Brooke & Mason amazing but it was great to catch up and hear more from Beth, Colton & Joey, as well as Becca & Simon. What an amazing series.
Enjoyable story. Fun characters! Sisters who blurt out whatever is on their mind, the trading between them and the great bond between the guys they have chosen
I enjoyed all three books in this series, however, I think I liked this one the best. It does have a lot of detailed sex in it if you like that sort of thing. I prefer not to read so much sex but it's just personal preferences.
All was going well for most of the book. Brooke and Mason had great communication and their relationship felt natural. However, late in the book she reveals some personal information that changes absolutely nothing between them and his reaction his completely over the top. I get that you have to have angst but his reaction was completely out of character and irrational. For him to scream at her. To tell at her not to touch him and start slamming doors? Where did that come from and why? Her revelation didn't merit anything close to that. That part ruined Mason for me and ultimately my enjoyment of the book. Also the way she forgave him without making him earn it? Nope. However the most confusing thing about this book is that the author tries to make Kyle a bad guy. If anything Brooke is the villain of that story. She is his friend for 7 years. In love with him the entire time but never says anything about it. He gets engaged and wants her to be a part of the wedding. Sounds like a friend to me, but she skips town and refuses to speak to him. Then she drops all her feelings on him. He reciprocates but she decides it's too late. Huh? I will never understand the logic behind that. It's too little too late for her even though he immediately admits he has feelings for her too? Make it make sense.
Brooke knew her HEA was just around the corner. Stuck in the friend zone with the guy she’s known since high school, she thought that she would finally have it—love. Instead of proclaiming his love for he, he asks her to be his Best Woman at his wedding. WTF?! What a waste of time and pining!
Is it so hard to find love? Everyone she knew was either in love, married, engaged, or having kids. What was she doing wrong? Well, when the going gets tough, the tough get going home for the holidays. At least it would be a temporary escape. Besides it be great to see her sisters and Mason again. Mason, who was not part of the family and who was always nice to her. So what if he had a girlfriend? She didn’t like him that way…right? Brooke just had the worst luck with men.
As her luck would have it, the guy she was pining for has suddenly decided that he wants her now. Kyle and Mason. Kyle was self-centered and needy while Mason actually put her needs before his own. Mason was also way hotter! Damn that he had a girlfriend.
A relatable and enjoyable read! It was a perfect blend of friendship and passion.
Language: R (31+ swears, 0 "f"); Mature Content: R (sexual touching, nudity, sex); Violence: G This story was a classic cheesy romance, but, to me, everything seemed to be going too well. Yes, there were a couple of obstacles to get through, but each one got tied up too perfectly. I wasn't even upset to stop reading and put the book down when the sex scene I didn't want to read turned into chapters to be skipped.
Typical romance novel. I always enjoy reading how the characters get together and then disaster and back together again. The setting with the bakery and Brooke's background really held the story together.
This was a giveaway book I received and I am so glad I read it. I have not read any of the Harbor Springs series besides this one. It was an easy and enjoyable read. I am now going to have to go back and read the first two books of the series.
Completely devastated, Brooke decides to relocate to Harbor Springs. Her sisters have found their happily ever after and maybe she can too. Add her sister's brother in law and you have a recipe for a sweet story~
