who allowed nino and kira to be this cute 😭
i know this manga is full of cliches and cheesy but it brings me so much joy. i didn’t care for kira-kun at first but now i love him to bits. mainly because of how awkward and dorky he is when it comes to dealing with his feelings.

This volume made me SAWFT. I'm so happy with the developments that happened here! I can't even form any coherent thoughts as of writing this but I will say this: I'm really happy I'm reading this series. I'm a bid worried this might end on a sad note, but for now, I'm enjoying this series by the volume and trying to make the most out of it. I can only hope that the next couple of volumes continue to live up to the hype.

Kira and Nino could be lovers!!!! This volume has a lot of scene to impress. I like this volume. But the days that Kira can alive is being short...

So Kira rushes over to Ninon because he’s just realized he’s in love with her and wants to spend the rest of his birthday with her. She is celebrating with her parents, but Ninon arrives just in time for cake.
As part of the celebration, Ninon’s dad takes off his glasses, which he only does once a year because he is so attractive; if one sees his bare face, they fall under his control. Apparently, he is 50 times more attractive than Kira will ever be, according to Ninon. Kira is a doubter, but when he sees her dad, he drops his coffee cup. (We, the reader, don’t get to actually see his face, though.)
Afterward, they go to a playground to talk. He tells Ninon he isn’t in love with Shitara. It seems like he is going to confess his love, but he gets nervous and can’t go through with it. He ends up asking her what she wants for her birthday instead. She says she doesn’t want anything, but then asks to ruffle his hair. She gets into it and says how good it smells and wonders if she could use the same shampoo, but then she gets embarrassed and apologizes for getting carried away. He replies with, “What’s wrong with getting a little carried away?” Then his dad texts, and he has to go home. They part ways as Ninon wonders what he meant about getting carried away.
Yabe notices that they seem to have made up and also wonders why she looks so cute now, so he is still secretly pining for her.
After school, Ninon goes by herself to get bird food because Kira is resting, and she runs into Shitara. She is carrying flowers, and she explains they are for her fiancé; she’s going to visit his grave. So this explains a lot about her cold attitude. She also uses this to tell Ninon she hasn’t really considered what loving someone who is slated to die soon might do to her. She asks Ninon if she wants to get together with Kira, among other personal questions. Shitara also admits that some of the things she said to Ninon were out of jealousy. Before she leaves, Ninon thanks her for thinking of her.
While she is out, Ninon runs into Kira, and he hands her a bag with the shampoo he uses. He bought it for her, but lets her know this isn’t her present and to think about what she wants. As he leaves, she comes up behind him and rests her head on his back, but then says she tripped. Apparently neither of them is ready to admit their true feelings yet. They end up walking home, each one carrying part of the bag.
They ended up going to the French restaurant, but it sounds like Kira was nervous; he could barely taste the food. Ninon had a good time partly because she realized it was basically a date. Kira wanted to confess but still couldn’t, and has resolved to do it when he gives her her present.
On the way home from school, they find an abandoned cat. Kira takes it home, determined to find it a home. It isn’t as easy as he thought, and he begins to get attached to it, but he knows he can’t keep it because his dad is allergic to cats. (Though his dad tries to get him to keep it, he gets mad that his dad is willing to sacrifice his well-being for Kira.) Eventually Yabe says his sister decided she wants it, but since Kira is working a temp job (to get Ninon a present,) Ninon has to facilitate the process. Kira is worried about them being alone together because he suspects she likes Yabe.
Throughout this volume, there are a few times when Kira and Ninon have an encounter where something “almost” happens between them (she falls on him on the bed because of the cat; he wraps her up with him in the curtain,) but for various reasons it doesn’t. Both of them are still unsure about how the other feels.
There’s also a part where Nino helps Kira realize how much his dad loves him. Kira worries he ruined his dad’s life, but Ninon explains how he is actually his dad’s precious treasure. This brings Kira to tears, it’s a sweet moment.
One day Ninon eats a bunch of popsicles so she can give him the winning popsicle sticks in an attempt to make him smile and cheer him up, but she ends up not feeling well afterward. When she comes back to class, Kira pulls her in an embrace and then takes her up to the roof. At first he’s upset because he left her present at home, but then he just tells her he wanted to confess to her. She thinks he means he has a secret to share, but he corrects her, explaining it’s a love confession. He tells her how after he was given a short time to live, he felt like he needed a reason to live but couldn’t find one, and how it was scary because time just kept passing him by, but then she appeared. Then he tells her that she is his reason to live, that he loves her, and if she stays with him, he is sure he’ll be happy until the very end. Then he asks her to go out with him. They are both smiling through their tears as she replies, “Of course,” and then they embrace. (Yay, finally!)

Es ist einfach eine schöne Liebesgeschichte und ich freue mich schon darauf, wie sie weitergeht. Selbstverständlich hängt über diesen jungen Leuten bereits das Damoklesschwert und man fragt sich, ob sie jemals für ihre Gefühle einstehen können, ohne mit Reue auf die verbleibende Zeit zurückzuschauen.
Kira möchte Nino unbedingt ein Geburtstagsgeschenk machen und nimmt dafür einen Job an. Gleichzeitig finden beide ein kleines Kätzchen. Sie nehmen es kurzerhand bei sich auf, um für es ein schönes neues Zuhause zu finden. Gleichzeitig steht die Frage im Raum, ob es hier zu einem Liebesgeständnis kommt oder nicht…
Durch die vielen interessanten Aspekte lernt man die Charaktere insgesamt etwas besser kennen. Nino, die nach wie vor kein Gespür für ihre Mitmenschen hat. Doc, der alles sieht und mitbekommt. Ein schlaues kleines Vögelchen. Kira, der langsam an Charakter gewinnt und über dessen Lebensgeschichte wir etwas mehr erfahren. Und auch, warum das kleine Kätzchen nicht bei ihm bleiben kann. Auch Yabe bekommt hier wieder seine kleinen Auftritte. Diese zeigen schnell, dass er sich eher widerwillig weiterentwickelt. Aber auch seine emotionale Situation ist nicht so einfach, wie er das gerne hätte.
Das kleine Universum von Nino und Kira wird langsam etwas größer und durch ihre Gefühle und neuen Erfahrungen farbenprächtiger. Ich bin gespannt, wie sich die Beziehungen der einzelnen Charaktere untereinander noch entwickeln und wie sie sich insgesamt verändern.

Aufmachung
Ich muss ja immer wieder gestehen, dass mich Rin Mikimotos Cover überhaupt nicht anziehen. Das war schon bei Kuss um Mitternachts so. Der Zeichenstil innen gefällt mir dabei schon wesentlich besser. Wobei man merkt, dass dieser sich von Close to Heaven zu 0Kiss unglaublich entwickelt hat. Doch ihr Erzählstil ist einfach nur wunderbar.
Protagonisten
Ninon ist 15 Jahre alt und immer allein, weil sie alle komisch finden. Schließlich sitzt ein "ausgestopfter" Vogel auf ihrer Schulter. Die Reaktionen ihrer Mitmenschen sind der Grund für ihre große Unsicherheit.
Kira, ebenfalls 15 Jahre alt ist in der Schule ein absoluter Draufgänger. Er hat das Gefühl den Starken markieren zu müssen, da ihn ein trauriges Geheimnis runterzieht. Eigentlich ist er aber eine Heulsuse.
Fazit
Irgendwie habe ich beim Lesen ganz viele auch sehr unterschiedliche Emotionen. Dauernd klopft mein Herz und sorgt sich um das bevorstehende Ende. Close to heaven berührt mich zutiefst und ich bin so froh sie zusammenbekommen zu haben. Ich wünschte noch viel mehr von euch könnten ihn lesen.

Der Sittich gefällt mir nicht, weil ich nicht verstehen kann, was für eine Rolle er hat. Er ist eine Sorte komische Auflockerung? Die Geschichte ist sehr traurig - Kira wird bald sterben - aber es gibt einen sprechende Sittich...
Das Ritual 30 Eis-am-Stiel zu essen kannte ich nicht. Aber ja, Aberglauben ist nicht wirklich meine Dinge.

I like this manga because it shows the boys being nervous and emotional too. The stereotypical cool, tough guy gets old in this genre. Surprisingly thought provoking for a shojo too, regarding life, living, and death.

This was so sweet. Love that she hasn’t changed everything about herself for him. She is just being my his side supporting him. I like his dad a lot too. Really supportive and kind without being overly cautious. And still enjoying his friend. Only person I don’t like is the nurse

ich fand es schon wieder richtig gut ,ich finde die geschichte wird immer besser und ich bin froh das man die krankenschwester mindestens in diesen band nach dem anfang los hat denn sie ist mir total unsympatisch aber ich denke das sie natürlich zurückkommen wird ,ich bin jetzt schon total neugierig was es mit den eisstielen auf sich hat und die geschichte ist so romantisch wäre es in der echten welt nur auch so .
