Phil Robertson

He was also featured on the television show Duck Commander, a hunting program on the Outdoor Channel. He served as patriarch of the Duck Dynasty Robertson family.
He attended Louisiana Tech University, where he played football. He received a master's degree in education and spent several years teaching prior to founding Duck Commander, a hunting equipment company.
Robertson was the subject of controversy after a 2013 interview he did with GQ magazine, where he said that homosexual behavior was sinful. As a result, A&E suspended him from Duck Dynasty. Facing a strong backlash from his supporters, A&E lifted the suspension after nine days.
In September 2023, a biographical film on the early life of Robertson, The Blind, was released in theaters.

Read this one in a matter of hours. Phil's new book is profound and candid, and reads like an evangelical love letter to his fellow man - most importantly the lost in this sick and dying world - those whom he (and his family) truly cares about. The book effectively exposes the media's completely unrealistic portrayal of Robertson as some sort of homophobic neanderthal, and finally gives voice to Phil's true passion besides duck hunting - spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ - in his own words. Believers and non-believers alike can glean much from Phil's homespun wisdom and solid theology in this book. An easy five star rating.

Excellent book as Phil says it like it is and how it should be...his no nonsense take is refreshing and his media portrayal is so unfair. They label him as hater when he is anything but sure! He is passionate about sharing the gospel message of Jesus and loving others.

I love how Phil is straight forward and unapologetic in his faith. This man really practices what he preaches. Great book and a great family. I recommend this book to everyone. There is hope for us folks, and it's in Jesus.

This was a really great book, especially on religion, in this book Phil talks much about religion, and family, and the power of love, this is a really great book and teaches you a lot of lessons on life, I would recommend this book to just about anyone.

I like and respect this family. I enjoyed learning about Phil’s life as a child and his family prior to his marriage to Ms. Kay. He tells it like it is, straightforward and unapologetic. The man is smart and makes a lot of sense. He does not apologize for what he believes in. I’ll listen to it again for sure.

Look, the Duck Dynasty guys might not be for everyone, but the homespun wisdom and the living by The Word is really strange concept to many in the world now-a-days. The neat thing about Phil Robertson is that he has a testimony of a pre-christian life in turmoil in the 60's/70's with adultery, drunkenness, a broken marriage, etc, and he found Jesus and turned his life around.
He didn't seek fame and fortune, but worked hard at building a little duck call business and stayed true to his faith and his exposure grew into international fame. The most amazing part? Is that the fame and fortune doesn't seem to have changed him one bit.
From today's media one might think he's a very "judgmental Christian type", but he preaches and speaks repeatedly about our obligation to love others, leave hate, teach truth and let God be the judge. He does not wink at sin and say it's ok, if asked a particular sin, he'll quote the Bible, and does not judge. This doesn't sit well with others, but he's usually quoting directly from the word.
I was a little intrigued by their TV show as they were often silly but with good clean fun. Since then, I've been captivated by their continued ministry to reach others worldwide and stay true to their country roots. Their video podcast on Youtube is incredible.
I highly recommend this book.

I am a big fan of the “Duck Dynasty” show and Phil has always had a way of saying things throughout the seasons that left me wanting to know more, to hear more. I requested this book in audio format because I needed to hear Phil’s thoughts in his own words. You can tell when someone is passionate about something when they speak, you can just tell it in their voice.
Phil Robertson is one of the stars of the hugely successful show on A&E, Duck Dynasty. On the show we get a peek into what the days are like being a part of America’s favorite redneck family. Mostly funny, always entertaining and Hey! there is no denying this family has some strong beliefs about hunting, food, family, the state of the world today and God.
It is clear to me that this is all due to the core values that Phil Robertson lives by and has shared with his family, friends and anyone else who seeks out his words.
There is no mistaking that Phil is a Godly man. He shares with us in this book how he was lost before, was a doubter of the bible “thumpers” and what happened in his life to turn all of this around. Some of you may be aware of the controversy that surrounded Phil last year after an interview for GQ magazine. Let me say that if you were offended by any of that, this is not the book for you. I wanted to know what the bid deal was surrounding Phil and what he said. I wanted to know why so many people were offended by the words he was quoting from the Bible. UnPHILtered covered that story and so much more.
When I was done listening I wanted to go out and have everyone I know take a listen. All of Phil’s solutions offered up for how to get America back on its feet revolve around love of two things, Love GOD and Love your neighbor. It seems pretty simple. You will either love this book or hate it. Personally, I loved it.
The topics are not to be taken lightly… guns, homosexuality, religion, politics and God. Whether you agree or disagree with all or some of Phil’s solutions, at the very least this book will get people talking and hopefully thinking. While I would not recommend this book for younger readers, I absolutely would recommend this book to teenagers and all adults. Love God, Love your neighbor. - Michelle H.

I really loved phil's last book, which was happy happy happy.So i was curious to read this one.After reading few chapters, i started feeling irritated.On homosexuality, which he considers sin his views are distressing.He tries to justify it by pesenting & projecting different quotes of jesus.
I completely discard his notion on homosexuality & abortion.He needs to apologize for these things.Even homosexuals are created by same god, and by telling them sinster you are insulting god.
This book i not readable where he continously quotes scriptures to justify & to prove his opinions are right.I would not recomment this book.

I am a big fan of duck dynasty not many people know this but I met Phil and jace before they got famous. Me dad and Brian Chatham were at a duck and turkey convention and we talked to them just like we had known them all our life. Phil wrote this book from his heart you could tell. It talked how they started from nothing not even having s house to being billion airs. Phil had struggles with drugs and got straightened out. They settled down and he wanted to start a company. That company is a multi billion dollar business now. This book really empired me because they built back up and never gave up I rate this book as a solid 4

I loved this book! Didn't pick it up thinking I would since I'm not a watcher of his show, but I have an entirely different view of Phil Robertson and what he stands for after reading his book. He shares his life philosophy which is simple. Love God, love your neighbor. If everyone did this, most of the problems that plague our nation would be solved. He also gives his views on hot topics and the current political climate in our country and the radical change that's occured. I couldn't agree more with what he had to say.

This "hillbilly" as many elitists calls him has two Master's Degrees. The book covers many issues pertinent to today's culture. The author spells out, rather well, how our country is going the way of how many countries destroyed themselves from within. Politics, Race, Entitlements, Government and Gun Control are all covered. A Christian man, Phil also discusses Intelligent Design or Blind Chance, Good s. Evil, Sin, Death, and Good News. All these subjects are well covered. I feel that all ungodly people would not agree with one word in the book - that's why I liked it so much.

I read this one a few weeks go and thought I had marked it off of my list but apparently not so! All I can say is Phil Robertson for president! That man is amazing and doesn't pull any punches. He lives by the Bible and believes what it stands for. Reminds me of the quote "If you don't stand for anything, you will fall for everything!" I know some won't agree with his thoughts and that's okay. He will love ya anyway!

I loved Phil's book Happy, Happy, Happy but I was not crazy about this one. I felt like I was being preached at instead of him telling me a story about his faith.

Great book, and some interesting thoughts about where we currently sit as a society. Nothing like the simple explanations of the ways of the world without Jesus through the eyes of a good ol' boy from Lousiana.

Good book, Phil has some strong opinions and he is a very smart man. I especially enjoyed the last several chapters of this book.

While it may seem like it took me forever to read this (I did take a couple week vacation during it and left the book home), I actually took my time reading it because it was kind of a learning experience. First off, I have to say that I love that this family it so popular and hope that the people watching it start reading the Bible or going to church if they didn't before. There is so much that you can learn from this family and the way they live. And the way they live transferred to the pages of this book wonderfully. There were a couple parts of this book that I saved so I can share it with others. I know he had help, but Mr Robertson definitely has a way with words!

I loved this book so much. Phil Robertson is the head of the Duck Commander. He stared his company as a grassroots operation making duck calls. He built the company from scratch and turned into a mutlimillion-dollar company. The spirit of this book is love God and love your neighbor. He thinks we have a love problem and if we love one another the world can only get better. He reminds us to keep our spiritual nature. He talks about electing good officials, judge a man by his heart, and be self reliant. He believes in the right to bear to arms which I agree with. I like his philosophy of life. Live your life with joy, peace, patience, gentleness, and self-control. Great advice for everybody.

I'm not sure this was the best Duck Dynasty book to start with as it wasn't about the family really, but about Phil's opinions on everything from politics to religion and everything in between. He talks straight and if you have ever watched the show, you know he has a keen intellect so these are not just the mad ramblings of a backwoods hick. His beliefs are Bible based, which is not going to be for everyone, but there is some wisdom here for just about everyone. One thing that threw me was the audiobook was actually narrated by Phil's son, Alan, so at times it was easy to get confused on who was really speaking.

This is absolutely one of the best books that I have ever read! I could not stop reading and re-reading it over and over!! I have always loved the way Phil Robertson tells his stories, and this book is no exception. Mr. Robertson gives his candid view on everything from his faith, family, gun control and especially the article that was written about him in the GQ Magazine among other items. This is a no holds barred book that gives the reader an inside look into how Phil Robertson looks and thinks about the world around him. I would recommend it to everyone who knows how to read!! I wish I could give it a higher rating than 5 stars also!!

I liked this book. It is full of pithy, red-neck wisdom and common sense. Phil breaks all his topics down into their simplest form and reveals the core issue in each one. I like that he doesn't sugar coat his opinions. He is direct and unpretentious. If you don't agree with him, that's okay; he still likes you. And he isn't shy about expressing his opinions on sin, repentance, salvation, the Bible and Jesus. I find it really refreshing to read a book that is without a hidden agenda where I am constantly having to figure out what the author really means. He says what he means and means what he says. We could all use a little more of this kind of homespun wisdom.

I enjoyed this book. I like how Phil tells his point of view on controversial topics while still being polite but straight to the point. I also like how Phil doesn't just talk about other people's behavior; he tells the readers how he also did things that he is not proud of and doesn't sit on a high horse and scold people. Overall, I think many people would/will enjoy this book, but I know that not everyone will agree with his views, which may turn potential readers away.

I really enjoyed reading Mr. Robertson's opinions on America's struggle with Godlessness. I found myself agreeing with much of what he expressed, and relooking at issues I didn't wholeheartedly agree with. I came away with a stronger belief that Mr. Robertson and his family are good, faith driven people whom I respect and admire. Thanks for the good read.
