We were neighbors.Enemies.I pushed, she pulled; it was a never-ending battle.Until the world we knew went up in sweltering, viral flames.Despite our differences, I couldn’t leave Loren for dead when the outbreak started, and with no one else to turn to, we got stuck together as the apocalypse continued to unfold.Fast forward one year later, and there’s only thing I now desire more than our survival... Her.Getting her beneath me has become an obsession, an infection rooted deep within me like the very virus meant to kill us. I’m falling for her at the worst time possible, I know this, but she is, too.It was inevitable, really.Whether we supersede the Z’s or not, one thing’s for certain—in the end, Loren will be mine, and I'll be hers.Apocalypse be damned.**NOTE FROM THE Snare is a 20k novella originally part of the Black Hearts anthology. It is short, steamy yet plot-heavy, and straight to the point.
Dee Garcia is a voracious fan of romance novels and a long time lover of the written word. Her mission is to craft unique, compelling stories that will give her readers a place to briefly escape the trials and tribulations of everyday reality. With headstrong heroine's who don't need a man to stand on their own two feet, Dee hopes to leave her mark in the Indie world, one plot twist at a time.
Wow! I loved Snare by Dee Garcia! It's just a tiny taste in the post-apocalyptic world, and I couldn't help but gobble it up in one sitting! Snare grips you right from the very first page. The characters have burning-hot chemistry! The writing is funny despite the stress of their situation which keeps you smiling! The zombie element was interesting and fresh and freaking spooky! My heart raced the entire time from page one to the last page! I could have stayed in this world for hundreds of pages more...it was that good! If you need a quick, heart-stopping, steamy read, you gotta grab this one up! Five MORTICIA AND MARSHMALLOW MAKE ME MELT stars!
Marshal and Loren are off to a shaky start when zombies appear and threaten to destroy humanity. At odd from the moment they met as neighbors, their sexual chemistry is off the charts. When the pair is forced to survive amid chaos and constant death, they find themselves even more at odds. Past hurts and mistakes surface and it takes a hard look at reality to find their way through. I loved the romantic build of their relationship and the clash of the apocalyptic world gone to hell.
An excellent read and well-written!
Characters: 5/5 Plot: 5/5 Word Building: 5/5 Story Flow: 5/5
Snare was my first zombie read and OMG it is so intense! This quick read was originally supposed to be a part of an anthology that fell apart. So it’s just that- a quick read, that’s sexy and suspenseful. I definitely find myself wanting more! If you’re looking for something different, you’ll want to check this one out for sure!
Let me preface this review with the fact that I have an irrational fear of zombies. It took me years to finally watch The Walking Dead. Yet, one of the beautiful things about this author is that she pushes me beyond my comfort zone. And, sweet holy titfire did she ever. That being said, I still hate zombies but if there was ever someone that I wanted to have to navigate a zombie world it would be with Marshall.
It shouldn't come as a surprise that this author created yet another book boyfriend for me. I have fallen in love with EVERY hero she has ever written. Marshall, like all the others, is distinctly his own character. He combines alpha with soft. I loved watching his relationship grow with Loren. Lo, is also similar to other heroines that this author has written, is strong and forced to be fearless. While she balances that she could be strong on her own knows that Marshall makes her stronger. Together, these two are a force to be reckoned with. Especially, in a world that has numerous types of zombies. /shudder #stuffofnightmares Add, in the steam that this author ALWAYS knocks out of the park and I totally shipped them (#sorrynotsorry for using the word ship).
I really wish this book was longer. I am never ready for this author's words to end. From the first word, I know that she will pique my interest and hold on to it until the very end. She soothed my sadness though that this wasn't a full story by giving me a prequel of what is coming later this year from her and another favorite author of mine. @019 is going to be her year. I can feel it in my bones and I cannot wait to say "I knew her when."
Very quick book. More like a traditional short story. It just abruptly ends as the 2 mc's finally get together. It starts w a flashback to when they were neighbors then jumps to the present. The H is worried the only reason the h wants him is because he is her only choice. Which isn't why she likes him. The zombies seem scary af and this world would make an amazing setting for a much longer book. This was a very quick basic overview of what these two mcs where dealing with. It jumps so much that you basically get the highlights. Overall it was pretty good but really needed details and to be like 4x the length. There wasnt really any sex, at the very end they do finally have sex but again it's very basic and you just get the highlights of it. 1/5. They do some other stuff but it's more like a causal mention that they did it than a play by play. Meh.

I’m so confused by this book sadly. I loveeee zombie books. I love zombie romance books to be exact. But I Also like action, and I felt this book had hardly any action. At the beginning of the book you get a little “zombie glossary” with zombies that remind me of the ones in that game “Left 4 Dead”. So I’m like “heck yeah” ... Then I start reading and I’m waiting ... and waiting ... and then I get a glimpse of some zombie action. Then the book is almost over. So I start skimming. Yeah, I said it. I skimmed the last few chapters of the book. I was hoping I’d get a little more zombie action. But I’m sadly disappointed. Maybe there is another book before this? Or after this? I’m not sure this book wasn’t for me though. I was left feeling confused by the whole thing. It was no real beginning, then it jumped to the present?
Two neighbors who don’t really like each other find themselves thrown together and helping each other to survive the outbreak of zombies! This book is very short and only takes about an hour to read. That hour finds our two main characters being very busy, and the author has done a great job of describing how people can put differences aside in emergencies so they can work together. There is some steam in this as they realize they don’t actually hate each other as much as they first thought! It’s a well written book, the plot is consistent, and the characters are likable. Overall, an enjoyable short read!

SPOILER ALERT... Quick and easy read. I read this on Kindle Unlimited and while I knew it was a short story going into it, I was rather disappointed with the ending. Let me back up though, the story itself is good and the writing is good. The story though is mainly about the relationship between Marshal and Loren rather than the actual Zombies and the dystopian world they now live in. Again, it was a good story but the reason I didn't give this 5 stars was because once they finally gave into the passion between them, the story was done. You don't find out anything more about where they were heading or if they made it, it was just over. So if you're looking for a quick come together romance that ends in sex with a sprinkle of zombie talk, then this is it.
“Oh, God… Yes, yes!” screams a scandalized woman’s voice.”
I’m not sure how a ‘scandalized woman’s voice’ pertains to $ex in the next room, or why the word was used. Just one example in this rather bizarre, short, mashup of weird and wonderful.
Very much a teenage writing style with superfluous words. The FMC was supposedly 28, working in an Indie publishing house. Her speech patterns were late teens, at best. Lo would not have survived an apocalypse between her whining and screaming. Add cliché quotes, “Virulent man bun” aside, it’s a giggle if nothing else. 🙄
Potential *Spoilers* - Quick enjoyable read - lots of Zombies and lots of sexual tension.
If you like books about survival, zombies and lots of sexual tension this book is for you. Lo and and Marsh are next door neighbours who love to hate each other, until they end up together during a zombie apocalypse. The sexual tension between these two is hot and the main focus of the story other then them trying to survive. Its a nice quick read - not too much depth into the plot but very enjoyable read. It just left me wanting more - What happens next?? hopefully we will find out.
This was a quick read from Dee, with very little drama. The only drama coming from this book is the zombies! Seriously, this book is filled with people killing the zombies. Definitely took on the feeling of it being more like a video game than a book. But even with that being said, it was still a solid book. I love how Marshall and Loren learn to get along and eventually fall in love. They fight for each other, protect each other and ultimately fall for each other. Such a great amazing short story that all are sure to enjoy!
This wowed me in a way I didn’t expect and I really want a full length book. This world wasn’t here for long but it was lush enough I wanted to know more. The couple we follow is clearly hotness and their chemistry worked in the best ways. This is written in a very spoken word way so if you are someone who likes super flowery prose this ain’t it BUT if you don’t mind a very modern language this was damn good. Super intense with action and spice honestly I’m mad we don’t get more but it deserves the five solid stars.
Snare is a quick read but packs so much in such a short story. This is an enemies to lovers story that has you on the edge of your seat as these two face an apocalyptic world. Don’t expect zombies at every turn, Marshall and Loren dominate this story with their insane chemistry that will outdo the angst of being hunted by these brain eating beings. Their story is action packed and seriously hot. When zombies roam the earth, I want my own Marshall and his alpha ways protecting me.
Holy mother of God this book was intense, Marshall can rescue me from a zombie apocalypse anytime. The sexual tension between him and Loren was strong they would argued and fight alot at the to a zombie apocalypse which pretty much wiped out the world is a lot of pressure I'm glad the two of them sorted there shit out and finally gave in to there feelings and got to gather. Great read really enjoyed this book
I loved this quick read of enemies to lovers in an apocalyptic world. Their will to survive and thrive. The zombies are so realistic I felt like I could see them, hear them especially the one in the water (creepy). Dee Garcia did a totally great job making these characters come to life for me.
I want more of Marshall and Loren! I would love to see how things work out for them and the apocalyptic world. I hope there will be more!!

But (yes the dreaded but) I think I would have enjoyed it much more if it was longer. The storyline felt squished and needed fleshing (and yes all puns are intended lol) out and what is a good read would turn into a great one. I love zombies and romance, combining the two is a hook, line and sinker for me.

I am a dystopian romance girly through and through, even more now reading this book. God i loved the tension in this book, the confessions, the holding back and then finally giving in, GIVE ME MORE! It's a novella and i just couldn't put it down, i'm still wondering if they found a cure, how they're doing?
What i wouldn't give to have a neighbour like that when the world as we know it ends, a girl can only hope.....
This was my first book by the author and this genre but I am in love. It was absolutely amazing. Well written and engaging while almost being an escape of sorts. It read like a movie in your head and I loved that the best!

This was a great zombie apocalypse enemies to lovers book. The characters of Loren and Marshall grabbed my attention right away, and did not let go. I only wish the book was longer so I had more to read. It was great. The storyline development was good for the length and the suspense was wonderful. I just want more. Loved it!!
This book will have you on the edge of your seat with action, zombies, and best steam and with apocalyptic flare to keep you wanting more. Loren and Marshall will keep you entertained with there banter and tension to keep you waiting for when it happens. Can't wait to read more form this author her books are amazing
I am not normally a short story kind of girl but this book has changed me! I was in a book funk and needed a pick me up! This book kept me up so thank goodness it was on the shorter side or I wouldn’t have slept a wink! Read it!

Mesmerizing and imaginative, I really enjoyed this short story with its end of the world aspect. This story starts out as a normal story with verbally combative neighbors but then turns the story on it's head by adding in a bit of horror. Well written and crafted, the characters find common ground and so much more. I'm looking forward to more.
Loved this dystopian take on Zombies, the different types etc. For such a short story, it really packs a punch! Would have loved to have seen it in full volume. Anything apocalyptic really floats my boat.
Loved the characters, the world building, everything. Highly recommend!
This is why in the case of a zombie apocalypse we would die out as a society... Because even in a zombie apocalypse men are still attracted to females that should have won a darwin award in the first chapter. Also, while I understand this is a novella it ended extremely abruptly like the author just said f it I'm done.
Marshal and Loren thrown together during a apocalyptic mess with zombies. From hate to lust to more maybe First book I've read with zombies and apocalyptic nature I loved it. Intriguing, Steamy,
I normally don’t read these types of books, but I absolutely love Dee Garcia, so I have it a whirl!!!!! This book was definitely out of my comfort zone, but WELL EFFING WORTH IT!!!! READ THIS BOOK NOW!!!!!! Dee Garcia will never disappoint!!!! She a phenomenally talented author!!!!! Enjoy!!!!!
