Angel Sands #2

She's Like the Wind

Rate this book
He’d be a fool to fall for his long-legged, barefoot employee. But bad decisions have never stopped him before…

Successful businessman and single father, Nate Crawford, doesn’t need any more complications. That’s why he’s moved his business – and his life – to a small beach town. He’s expecting sun, sea and tranquility, but what he gets is a whirlwind in the form of town sweetheart, Ally Sutton.

Ally’s used to dealing with heartache. But losing the café she’s owned for years is the final straw. Being offered a new job feels like a lifeline – that is until she meets her much-older, and impossibly handsome new boss.

In the space of a few weeks everything changes. And when an accident forces them closer, Nate and Ally can’t ignore the fascination between them any longer. As the summer heats up, the question is when, not if, they’ll give in to their explosive attraction.

**She’s Like the Wind is the second book in the Angel Sands series, set in a small beach town on the California coast. If you like a heartwarming read that’s low on angst and big on feels, this stand-alone romance is for you.**

Favorite Quotes:

“If I kiss you will you shut up?” Ally’s mouth dropped open and she stared at him with those big blues. “Probably not. But you should do it anyway.”

Gossip moved faster than the speed of light in Angel Sands… Having social media was pointless around here. By the time you opened your phone up to look, all the news was old.

My Review:

This engaging book had all the feels and a bit of everything including a fresh start for several, a new relationship for the main characters, sensual sizzle, loads family drama, small-town quirks, relatable characters, easy humor, and a mercurial and obnoxious teenager. And all of that was well packaged within several eventful yet easy to follow and entertaining storylines. I adored this couple and am eagerly looking forward to the next in the series, which was promised to arrive in a few months time.

She’s Like the Wind is a light easy read, a romantic novel with an unexpected twist. It is written from the point of view of the main character Ally Sutton who runs a seaside cafe. Her father ran it for years before he suddenly took off and left Ally to do it all on her own. Suddenly along comes Nate Crawford, owner of a string of coffee shop, who tells Ally that he’s brought the cafe from her father with the proviso that she is kept on as the manager.

I loved Ally. She is so much stronger than she thinks she is. She is also known and loved by the locals and has two very good best friends, Ember and Brooke, who are there for her no matter what. I also liked Nate Crawford’s character who is a forty-something businessman and a single father to Riley.

I really enjoyed this book which is the perfect read to curl up on the sofa with, especially on cold, wet days. The storyline follows the predictable boy meets girl plot with them falling for each other, although there were a few twists that gave it some drama. The beginning was slow-paced, but the book picks up about halfway through and finished leaving me wanting to read more from Carrie Elks.

Book 2 in the small-town romance series gives us Ally Sutton and single dad Nate Crawford. In this book Ally must come to terms with the fact that her absent father has sold his business, the one she has been managing, without giving her any consideration, and she’s been offered up to the new owner as part of the fixtures and fittings of the deal. I know what a gem of a father.

Nate’s girlfriend in this Stephanie was just a

The struggle in Nate trying to bond with his daughter was nicely done, highlighting the complexity of relationships between parents and kids.

The books in this series have so far been very light and fluffy, something to bear in mind before you pick one up – they’ve been just what I’ve presently needed, but I know at any other time I may have skipped them. But for the brain exhausted from work these have been nice one time reads.

5 - "Once this place has it's hooks in you, you'll never want to leave..." Stars!

The second book in Carrie’s Angel Sands series gives us Ally Suttons’ story. We learned of her struggles to keep the family business going on her own in the first book of the series. Ally now has to come to terms with the fact that her absent father has sold said business without giving her any consideration, and she’s been offered up to the new owner as part of the fixtures and fittings of the deal.

Everything was changing and she didn’t like it one little bit…

What she didn’t bargain on is the overwhelming attraction she feels for her new boss; Nate Crawford, a man who comes with his own set of well filled baggage. But one mis-step later, and forced proximity while Ally recovers, and it doesn’t take long for attraction to turn into something more.

What woman in her right mind would want to get involved with a guy with a teenager..?

Single father, older man and all round good guy, I loved Nate. Took me a few chapters to warm to Ally, but you can empathise with her slight prickliness as you get to know her and get a deeper insight into her past. Another great read, and I look forward to the next book in the series.

Older man, younger woman. Employer and employee. Both excellent reasons to avoid getting involved. But as this perfect summer story unfolds, all the reasons in the world do not matter, because this couple works. Ally is exactly what Nate needs in his life. Nate is the perfect partner for her. Their story is a slow burn that explodes, and is so satisfying to read. I love their characters, the maturity with which the story was written and the feeling of warmth that encompassed the whole book. Family, forgiveness, love, and friendship abound in this little community Carrie Elks has created, and I am looking forward to more!

I received an ARC of this book and this is my voluntarily, honest review of it.

‘She’s like the wind’ is the second book in the ‘Angel Sands’ series. Do you have to read the first book to read this one? No, you can perfectly read this book without reading the first one.

After reading and enjoying the first book ‘Let me burn’ I was curious about Ember’s two best friends Ally and Brooke and their romance story. ‘She’s like the wind’ is the story of Ally and Nate.

Ally never expected that she would fall for her new boss Nate but that’s exactly what happens. Nate may be older than her and be a single father of a teenage girl, those things means nothing when their eyes meet. The only reason why Nate moved to the small beach town ‘Angel Sands’ was to make a new start for him and his teenage daughter Riley. Since losing her mother and moving in with him, things have been difficult between them. Nate hope that a change of scenery will be good for the both of them. He never expected to fall for a younger woman who works for him but that is just what happens. But his feelings aren’t the only thing that he has to consider. How will Riley react when she discovers there is something between him and Ally? Will he have to choose between Riley and Ally?

I enjoyed this book. It had the perfect blend between a light read and an emotional one. I liked the interaction between Ally, Nate and Riley. The fact that Ally could relate to Riley because of her own similar childhood experience, made that Ally had more understanding and patience with Riley and her teenage behavior. But it also meant that Ally had to deal with own feelings of her own past. I found it very interesting to see how experiences of the past can help you to help others but it can also hold you back to live a happy life. And that communication is very important in every relationship.

The story is told in both POV’s and it was fun to see Ember, Lucas and Brooke again. After hearing a lot of Ally’s father in the first book, we finally get to meet him and hear his side of the story and his reasons of why he did some things.

‘She’s like the wind’ is a great story and I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

Quick easy read between older guy with a teenage daughter and the small town's "daughter." Perfect for a vacation beach read. Nothing new -- nothing that sets the pages on fire. Just a solid standard run of the mill light romance.

Sommeranbefaling her fra!

You know, we’ve always hope for that summer dream.
Those lazy, calm, happy, lovely days.

Angel sands it’s the perfect scenery, a small town, everyone knows each other and they live one day after another, breathing the place with heart and soul.

Every change, every small event is taken seriously and everyone takes part and does whatever they can to make that change better.

You feel it if you’re born there or if you moved there.
That’s life what happened to this couple, Nate and Ally are from different worlds, but they take the chance, they need and eventually want the same, before they know it, but can only take the jump together.

No spoilers for you, wouldn’t you want to know this slow burn aching to explode? I guess you need to read it and then let me know if I’m true.

;)

I’m giving it five stars just because it made me dream of that special place hidden in my heart.

Pov: male & female

Major Characters: Nate & Ally

Minor characters: Riley (his daughter)

My thoughts:

I liked this story better than the last. There was more depth to the characters this time around. It wasn’t perfect, but there was much more than book 1. Ally had a backstory that was fleshed out. Nate had issues that were explained and resurfaced. Riley was a little much, but she is a teenager who lost her mom so I can look past it.

I liked that Nate snapped at Ally. That he unexpectedly had flash backs to his ex who didn’t like Riley. It made sense since he was under extreme stress. Even Ally breaking her ankle, which seems implausible in real life, was presented in a way that it seemed plausible. There was enough back story for Riley and Ally that it made sense why she was so concerned.

I would have liked to see more Riley and Ally. They had so much in common but it wasn’t as visible as it could have been. Ally had moments where she knew they had common issues, but it didn’t go farther than her thoughts. I would have liked to see her and Riley have a real heart to heart.

Overall, there was much more development this time around. The sex scenes were a little more explicit than before, still mild, but leaning away from mild.

Summary:

Ally was born and raised in Angel Sands. Her parents divorced when she was young. A big reason was her dads opening and running of a coffee shop. It took tons of his time, energy and focus.

She and her mom moved to a condo, but they were happy. One day her mom got sick and died. She had to move in with her dad.

Her dad had a girlfriend who didn’t like Ally. They often fought and the girlfriend told her dad to either get rid of Ally or they’d break up. He chose Ally and the girlfriend left. Eventually he and Ally became close.

She was an avid runner and got a full scholarship to college. She couldn’t bring herself to leave home. She ended up working in the coffee shop.

Years pass and her dad leaves town, leaving her running the shop. She can’t afford it and is losing money quickly. She can’t get ahold of her dad.

One day she finds out he sold the coffee shop, but convinced the buyer to keep her on as manager so she’s not unemployed. She’s relieved, but also sad to lose the shop.

Nate is the oldest of 2 siblings. He opened his own coffee shop and it became a huge success. He launched a chain of coffee shops and made a ton of money.

He got married when he first started and they had a baby, Riley. He dedicated so much time to the business that the marriage failed. He was determined to be a good father to Riley.

As Riley got older she was less interested in him and they drifted apart. One day her mom got sick and died. He immediately took Riley in.

Riley was struggling and acting out. She was constantly getting into trouble and got expelled from several schools. Nate had a girlfriend who didn’t like how Riley was disrupting their life.

One day, after Riley got arrested which caused Nate to miss a big event, his girlfriend told him to send Riley away. That it would be best for everyone. That their relationship was working great before Riley got there. He breaks up with her.

He finds out about the coffee shop in Angel Sands and decides to buy it and open up one of his shops. He thinks it’ll be great for Riley to have a change of scenery.

He buys the shop and meets Ally. He’s immediately attracted to her, but knows he can’t do anything about it.

She’s immediately attracted to him but knows it’s pointless. She knows it’s one sided.

He closes the shop down for a week to do renovations then has just her come in for training. He likes her more and more each time. They get to know each other and she finds out Riley lost her mom, just like she did.

She meets Riley and likes her immediately. Riley likes her too.

One day she gets a butt dial from Riley and she can tell Riley is about to cliff dive. She rushes over to stop her but slips and falls breaking her ankle.

Riley and Nate take her home after she’s out in a cast and see her apartment isn’t safe for her in crutches. Riley invites her to stay with them for 2 weeks while her apartment elevator is getting repaired.

The tension between Ally and Nate increases day by day, but she convinced herself it’s one sided. One day he takes her with him to check out other shops and she mentions how they should be themed since they’re in the coast. He loves the idea.

She’s embarrassed because she has no formal education. She tells him how she was too scared to leave home to go to college. That she can’t afford it now and it’s too late. He tells her that it doesn’t matter. That she’s smart.

He kisses her and they get carried away.

They drive back to his house and don’t talk about it. It drives her crazy.

Riley asks to go out with her friends but Nate tells her no because she’s still grounded after the cliff diving incident. She gets angry and storms off. Nate feels like a bad parent.

Ally tells him how she felt when she was in Riley’s position. How she was lonely and scared. How she pushed boundaries to prove her dad would leave her just like her mom, but at the same time she desperately didn’t want him to. She tells him he’s coming from a place of love and one day Riley will understand.

She realizes he’s not interested in her. That their kiss was a mistake for him. He realizes how much he likes and admires her, but he knows it’s a bad idea. That their age gap, 10 years, is too much. That it’s like his ex, they’re in different places and want different things.

One day he gets home and the sexual tension is too much. He ends up using his hands on her.

Riley gets invited on a school trip for 4 days.

The first night she’s gone he and Ally finally have sex. It’s life changing. They spend the next few days together in bed.

She makes a comment about their last night together before Riley comes home. It bothers him because he had begun thinking about a future together.

Riley comes home early from her trip and catches them together in bed. She runs off and Nate chases after her. He’s short with Ally.

They find out Riley used his credit card to buy a plane ticket to see his sister in Chicago. Nate makes plans to take the next flight out.

He’s angry about the situation and takes it out on Ally. She’s hurt, but tries to understand he’s stressed out because Riley ran away. It still hurts her feelings. She compares herself to her dads girlfriend and feels awful. She feels like she distracted Nate from his daughter who needs him.

He gets to Chicago and finds Riley and they talk. She apologizes for what she did. She explains she liked a boy and her friend went and made out with him. That she came home and found him and Ally together and she was just shocked. That she knows they like each other and likes them together.

He finally calls Ally late that night and lets her know Riley is safe. Ally is relieved and asks what he’s going to tell Riley about them. If he wants her to talk to Riley. He gets angry. It reminds him of his ex and how she gave him an ultimatum. He tells Ally there isn’t a “them” to discuss.

He suggests he and Riley will need time alone together to sort things out. Ally’s hurt and tells him her apartment will be ready soon so she’ll move out before he gets home. He knows immediately he’s ruined things.

Ally is devastated and moves out.

He realizes he was being irrational. That Ally is not his ex. That Ally would never ask him to choose her over Riley. He tries calling to apologize but she’s already blocked his number.

She’s lonely and sad and finally calls her dad. (He had been trying to get in touch with her since he sold the coffee shop but she’d been avoiding his calls.). Her dad rushes to her and apologizes for everything. He explains the coffee shop was losing money and his health was declining. That he was too scared to tell her so he left town. She forgives him and tells him what happened with Nate.

Nate and Riley come home and they miss Ally. He goes to work the next day and Ally comes by and quits. He’s shocked and doesn’t want her to. She tells him it’s not his decision. He asks if they can talk about it but she says no.

He bumps into her dad. Her dad explains how he made her too reliant on him. That that’s the reason why she never left town. That he clipped her wings even though he didn’t mean to. That she’s strong, but she can still be hurt and she doesn’t deserve it.

Nate feels awful. Riley suggests he invite Ally over. He tells her they’re not talking. He asks if she likes Ally. Riley tells him she loves Ally. That the three of them felt like a family.

He realizes how huge his mistake was and goes to find Ally.

She’s at a birthday dinner for her friend and he apologizes. She tells him she’ll forgive him eventually. That she doesn’t hate him.

The next day she goes to her friends store and finds out Nate left something for her. He left a contract asking to buy her idea for the beach themed coffee shop. He offers her 10k plus shares in the future shops.

She’s confused and finds him. He tells her they can talk about it over dinner. She agrees.

They meet later at the coffee shop and she sees he redecorated it. He found photos of the shop when her dad first opened it, and when she was young working in it, and of her and her mom there. He took the photos and blew them up to hang on the walls.

He tells her he wants her to head up the beach coffee shops. That he’s sorry for hurting her. That he’s in love with her. That Riley loves her. That he wants to be with her.

She tells him she loves him too and wants them all to be a family.

A few weeks later she finally gets her cast off. They go to the beach and he proposes. She says yes.

SPONSORERET ANMELDELSE

When Ally breaks her leg in an attempt to save her new boss's daughter, she is forced to live with them until she's recovered. The problem? Her mind is still reeling from the loss of ownership over the coffee shop her family once owned, and now she has the hots for the man who not only signs her paychecks but also signed away the future she was so secure in.

She's Like the Wind was downright adorable! This beach-side romance featuring the single parent and hurt/comfort tropes is exactly what I needed right now. The relationships all around were excellently developed and despite there being little plot I wasn't bored. Our main girl Ally is also such an inspiration. She truly is such a strong character. She radiates positivity, organization, and kindness while knowing her worth and not settling for less. I think most people can learn a thing or two from her.

On the other hand, I wasn't particularly fond of how the third act conflict was handled by our main man, but he more than made up for it in the end so I'll let it slide.

A cute and quick read that gives off all the Summer Vibes.

This book started with a lot of promise and I love Carrie and most of her books. However, for me in the latter part she became one of those 'doormat' female characters I hate so much, I wanted to kick her down the stairs and break her other ankle for being so woe is me.

Then at the end it went into ultra smaltzy romance, which I just don't do.

If you love super sweet sacharin love stories and don't mind a heroine whose a bit whiney then I'm sure you'd love it. It's not you - it's me - I just don't do either of those.

I enjoyed book one, not so much this one, hoping the next one is back in my court.

I mean, Nate was low-key an asshole and I'm not really a big fan of books written in 3rd person, but I did like it. I can't blame Nate for a hurtful conversation with Ally because he was quite stressed. But yeah, a solid 4 stars

“She’s like the wind” was a ARC provided by the author last month and I was able to receive one.
Carrie Elks is one of my favorite authors in romance literature, she can write amazing stories where you will fall in love. Each story she writes for her characters can capture your heart and soul. She has a beautiful line story.
“She’s like the wind” is the second book of the series “Angel Sands” and what a wonderful story Carrie tell us in this book.

Nate Crawford is a father who have to raise an angry teenager daughter alone. After he lost his ex-wife his daughter Riley didn’t stop making mistake after mistake. So he decided it was time to change to another city for a new start. But he doesn’t know that his life will be entangled with Ally in Angle Sands.

Ally Sutton is the owner of the Beach Cafe in Angel Sands. Her cafe is not full of tourists or new people, but she loves this place. She has been in this cafe for her life entire life.
Until one day her father told her he sold the cafe. He broke her heart. This cafe is her life since her mom died. This new change will bring new beginnings for her.

Ally and Nate will be working together. What will happen when these two will see each other for the first time. You will find out if you buy and read this wonderful story.

Can’t wait to read the third book.

Look at that, me reading a Carrie Elks’ book. What a shock.

The story begins when Nate Crawford decides to move him and his teenage daughter, Riley, from central Seattle to a small town in California called Angel Sands. Here he purchased a local restaurant from Ally Sutton’s father that happens to have Ally as the restaurant manager. Ally has been supporting herself and the restaurant on her own for many years, barely keeping things afloat, so when her father decides to sell her beloved family restaurant to a foreign stranger, she couldn’t feel like she could fail any less.

Nate’s first encounter with Ally was bittersweet and they both have a lot on their minds. However, when an accident involving Riley and Ally leaves Ally trapped in a leg cast for a few weeks, Nate sees himself forced to hangout more and more with the barefoot employee.

For some reason, I did end up enjoying this book much more than I did the first one. I can’t put into words the why, as Lucas [first book male main character] is a sweetheart, but Nate’s and Ally’s relationship did captivate more. It was particularly interesting to see the dynamic between Ally and Riley, having in consideration that Ally went through what Riley is going through.

I must say that I would’ve loved to see a little bit more of Ally and Nate’s relationship after everything was revealed to Riley and after Nate did try to apologize for his behaviour and I did wish what happens in the epilogue happened a bit further down – I don’t think a few weeks after the ending of the “main story” was enough for what happened. I did find it a little bit unrealistic but I also find it realistic in the sense that they’re both adults and they did show each other, in a short amount of time, how they can rely on each other for tough times.

However, much like Let Me Burn , I did find the timeline a little bit short for what happened overall, and I wish the author expanded a little bit more the happy moments at the end of the books in this series.

But, with that said, I continue to love Carrie Elks 's writing, her storytelling and how she makes the readers fall in love or, at the very least, enjoy the characters and the story itself. She has quickly become one of my favourite romance authors and, even though these books have only been rated as 3 stars, they’re high 3 stars and the series is definitely worth reading.

In book one of this series, I fell in love with this group of women and the town of Angel Sands. I was extremely pleased that Ally's story was the 2nd in the series as I found her very likable and her situation intriguing. Add in the premise of her story ( older man/younger woman) and I was practically gleeful.

Ally's life is upended when her father, who is MIA, up and sells their cafe out from underneath Ally. Into Ally's life comes an older man, her new boss, with his teenage daughter; the small family of Nate and Riley Crawford. This story is one part slow-burn romance and part insta-love made complex by the relationships the exist between fathers and daughters.

The slow-burn is provided through the connection that Ally and Nate develop. At first, it's all business, but the attraction simmers and circumstances lead to a more non-business situation where getting to know each other at a more intimate level is natural. But Nate is a complex man, with a bit of baggage in the romance department; things affected by the circumstances of having a teenager that he is now a full-time parent to.

I felt an insta-love aspect between Riley and Ally. They have so much in common and quickly develop a friendship that helps Riley to settle into the town of Angel Sands. Riley and Ally share conflicting feelings with how they feel about their fathers and what they need from them, which in turn creates some drama that threatens the formation and foundation of these new relationships.

Nate makes some decisions based on assumptions and limited info, and clearly has some issues with communicating that get in the way of his happiness. Well, his and Ally's. But Carrie Elks plots it out perfectly to give the angst I love, at the right level and for the right amount of time. She made me root hard for his redemption, both his and for Ally's father.

If you love small town romance with characters that are easy to connect to, the Angel Sands series is perfect for you. These books make for great beach reads. I'm already looking forward to the next in the series!

I truly loved this book and the romance between Nate and Ally.

The small town of Angel Sands is this amazing dreamscape where you just wish you lived with the ocean right outside your house and hot men and women walk around and fall in love;-)!
If you need a world to just disappear into the Angel Sands series and Carrie Elks will take you there and you don’t want to put the books down before they end.

This book deals a lot with grief, loneliness and relationships both romantic, friends or familial while grieving. Carrie Elks deals with these topics in such a beautiful way and she makes you feel every feeling the characters feel like frustration, anger, happiness, love, grief and sadness.
The romance tropes are, forced proximity, age gape, friends-lovers, caretaking and grief.

Nate is the father of Riley who just lost her mother and has to live with him again since the divorce. Nate is a businessman and a workaholic but he gladly gives up a lot of things to take care of her and help her thru her grieving process.
He moves them to Angel Sands so they can start over away from all the memories but with a 16 year old grieving teenage daughter it is very difficult and frustrating not being able to do the right things to help.
Nate meets Ally the former owner of the cafe he has bought and they slowly form a relationship first friendly but then becoming more.
Ally knows about loosing a parent and moving in with the other and she helps Nate reach out to his daughter and helps them both cope with their problems and feelings.

I just love Ally and Nate, they are so amazing together and Riley fits right in making them a family. Their chemistry is of the charts and the small amount of steam in this book is great.
I also loved that Ally’s friends welcomes Nate and Riley into their friend group so quickly. They don’t judge Nate even though he makes some mistakes and I love that in a friend group.

This was a really nice, well written, feel good story and I loved it. It made me smile a lot and even induced a welling if tears at one point, it definitely has all the feels.

I had already met Ally in Let Me Burn, the first book in the Angel Sands books and I always liked her. It was wonderful catching up with her story and her friends, Ember and Brooke. Then there is Nate, he is a lovely, kind, understanding business man with a teenage daughter, Riley, who he is trying to deal with. These characters are wonderful, I really liked their chemistry and felt really involved in their story.

Carrie Elks writes lovely stories, the type you want to curl up with and just indulge in and that's what I did. If you are looking for a really well written feel good story then I recommend this one. I am looking forward to Brooke's story.

We are back in Angel Falls for the second book in this fab series. I really enjoyed the small town feel in this book as the author makes it feel really intimate, kind of like you are transported there and watching it all happen.

The characters in this book are amazing. I loved Ally for how real she was and although she was strong she was still very vulnerable. Nate comes along with his own baggage and at the start of the story was not very likeable, you do find yourself rooting for him though which took me by surprise.

Ally and Nate's story is full of sweet moments, angst, a little drama and sizzling chemistry. If you want a small town romance or a light, sweet read then pick this up. You will not be disappointed!

A woman who runs her father's coffee shop is shocked to learn her father sold their family business to an extremely handsome single dad.

Ally manages a small coffee shop in their small beach town. Her father has owned the shop for decades until he sells the business to a national chain franchise without telling Ally. Ally was a teen when she lost her Mom and she moved in to live with her father in the small beach town. Ally has struggled with change ever since to include missing an opportunity to go to college. The coffee shop had given her a purpose along with a job. So when she meets the handsome new owner, Nate, she is conflicted with her loyalty and attraction.

Nate owns one of the biggest national coffee chains in the US. His success was well earned by long work hours and his focus on his career and the cost of family. When his ex-wife passes away, his teenage daughter comes to live with him. Hoping for a new change for both of them, he takes a business opportunity on the West Coast in a small beach town. The one stipulation the former owner requested is that the current manager have a position after the transition. The daughter of the former owner ends up being a surprise in more than one way.

At first, Ally tries to deny her crush on Nate. His position as the new owner and being more than 10 years older than she has Ally conflicted. When Ally is thrown into a sudden situation, Nate and his daughter offer to let Ally live in their home for a few weeks. While there, the three develop into a close family relationship that has Nate and Ally acknowledging their shared attraction. Ally's life experience is similar to Nate and his daughter and is able to help with her perspective. When conflict arises, the two have to decide where their priorities and future reside.

Trope: Age gap romance. Single Dad. Forced proximity. Workplace romance.

A light romance despite the heavy storylines. This is the second book I've read where the single dad older man falls for a woman who grew up with a single dad in a similar situation. Is this a trope? Does the female have a Daddy complex that enables her to be the perfect fit for a family? Nate comes across as a bit clueless when it comes to relationships but extremely good at his job. His character growth is evident. Ally is an interesting character that struggles with change and being still, (most likely due to her past trauma), and is forced to confront both.
Love scenes are better in this book than in book one. Cute story. Good HEA and epilogue.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This book was EVERYTHING I expected and more =D
What I particularly appreciated :
- still the coastal village atmosphere where you can almost smell the scent of the sand and the sea when reading the descriptions (I really wanted to go surfing !)
- the characters who are always so endearing (love Ally who enchanted me : she is strong, stubborn, full of faults but I adored her <3)
- the romance that I devoured !! I'm a fan of romances with older heroes but there, on top of that, a single father with a rebellious teenager ... <3 <3 And this scene when he flirts with the heroine with COFFEE (there I personally married him immediatly xD) And then I liked that their story developed very smoothly and that the romance didn't take up all the space ... But also the whole drama towards the end (I cried so much for Ally during the phone call scene ><) Anyway, love at first read =)
In short, a light romance that can be read in no time !
I hesitate for the next book because if I adore single mothers romance, I have read some excerpts which have moderately convinced me about the hero ... To be continued =)
