MASTER IN’EI IS SUCH A BADASS. the chapters about him training Miyamoto are the best part of this volume. hilarious!

This volume catches up with what Matahachi is doing these days. He's finally free of Oka and is leading clean life. A chance encounter with a samurai results in Matahachi co-opting his identity which lead to more bad decisions on his part. Still, it looks like he's on a path to redemption only he has do it using another man's name.
Musashi spends the rest of the volume training and recovering, preparing to take on Inshun anew and redeem his own honor after his beating a hasty retreat from his last match with the monk.

Another riveting volume. Musashi is licking his wounds after he shamefully ran from a fight, and Matahachi has assumed someone else's identity and is having an incredibly lucky day.

While this volume teasing us of Musashi vs Inshun rematch, this volume also focus on Matahachi and what the hell his doing lately after the fire he started and leaving Oka for good(maybe).
Ok lets list down what he did:
-He start working as labor in under develop FUSHIMI CASTLE
-He cant keep up on the job
-He stole a certificate of Swordsman-ship on a dead guy
-Instead of delivering the guys certificate on his parents/friends/etc. he keeps it.
-He stole that guys identity and start naming himself as Sasaki Kojiro
-He kills some guy and fck some bitches.
He basically didn't change at all

A mi gusto, ha sido el volumen más flojo de la serie hasta ahora ya que de nueva cuenta tenemos a Takezo/Musashi dando dos pasos adelante y uno hacia atrás.
En su pelea contra el monje, terminó huyendo ya que su miedo a morir fue mucho más fuerte que su orgullo. Además de que sus heridas fueron de gravedad y ahora debe descansar y reflexionar sobre qué fue lo que ocurrió en esa pelea. Si bien es un prodigio con la espada pese a no tener un estilo concreto, lo cierto es que le hace falta disciplina y entender que esas derrotas solo lo harán un mejor guerrero.
Mientras tanto, Matahachi hace de las suyas y vuelve a demostrar que es un hombre miserable. Curiosamente se encuentra con el famoso Sasaki Kojiro y al morir, éste le encarga que entregue unos documentos. Sin embargo, Matahachi usa el dinero de Kojiro, utiliza su nombre y la fama que eso conlleva, y mata a otros espadachines.
Ya para el final del volumen tenemos a Takezo entrenando con el verdadero maestro de la lanza, quien le encarga derrotar al monje en una nueva batalla para enseñarle así la lección final a su orgulloso discípulo.
Este volumen contiene los capítulos 50 – 59.

Mientras Musashi entrena para intentar derrotar a Inshun en la revancha del enfrentamiento del tomo anterior junto al maestro In-ei, Matahachi busca la forma de hacerse famoso siguiendo sus formas poco convencionales.
Lo que más me gusta de este tomo, es que Musashi finalmente se empieza a replantear su entrenamiento con un enfoque más espiritual, aunque todos lo tilden de "animal", el sigue buscando la forma de elevar su estilo con la espada y ser cada vez más fuerte.

Ngl I thought he wouldn't survive the fight. Phew! Inei is a good master for someone like M. The bloodthirsty fights make me anxious but I enjoy reading them way more . Cannot wait for the rematch.

El combate con Inshun concluye en el tomo anterior, pero el maestro Inoue mantiene dinámica la narrativa al intercalarnos flashbacks con las escenas de cómo terminó el combate.
Este tomo, nuevamente, es bastante psicológico. El viejo monje, que resulta ser el gran lancero Hozoin, lo cuestiona fervientemente sobre su derrota y lo invita a reflexionar sobre lo que lo llevó a perder. Es muy interesante como alguien tan cerrado y que responde a la violencia de esa manera como Miyamoto, se empieza a hacer preguntas y al mismo tiempo despierta recuerdos sobre su papá.
La manera en la que esta es una historia profunda es lo que más me gusta. Y aunque la meta no me emociona, el protagonista y su propia búsqueda de identidad, me mantiene atrapado.
Tenemos un par de capítulos, bastante frustrantes por interrumpir el flujo tan bueno que llevaba la historia de Miyamoto, de Matahachi y lo que fue de el después de dejar a su esposa y quemar el dojo de combate. Sigue siendo un cobarde bastante suertudo pero el maestro Inoue le da una reflexión interesante y lo construye para bien en un personaje más fuerte; también me dejó deseando un poco el desenlace de la relación entre Miyamoto y Matahachi.
La conclusión de este tomo nos muestra que la rivalidad entre Inshun y Miyamoto, que además se volvió bastante más compleja en este tomo, será retomada más adelante y todavía tiene mucho que brindarnos narrativamente.

Tras la tormenta, llega la calma, y aquí vemos como tras el resultado del combate anterior, Musashi queda con el espíritu quebrado.
No obstante, el anciano del tomo anterior resulta ser el gran maestro lancero de la escuela del Hozoin y maestro por ello del propio Inshun quien es el genio que lo sucederá, el famoso In-Ei, que lo acogerá, y le enseñará lo necesario para recomponerse en cuerpo y alma, que sea capaz de madurar, dar el siguiente paso que necesita si estar a la altura de Inshun, explorar su interior, y recuperar ese espíritu luchador, siempre que sea capaz de domarlo.
Al mismo tiempo, en este tomo vemos cómo avanzan otras tramas del manga, avanzando la serie en su conjunto, siendo la principal la de un Matahachi que sigue traicionándose y decepcionándose constantemente así mismo, realizando actos cada vez más cuestionables hasta obtener su nueva identidad como Kojiro Sasaki.
Finalmente, volvemos a la trama principal, quedando el terreno preparado y a las puertas de la segunda y definitiva batalla a muerte entre Musashi e Inshun.
Pero para deleitarnos con semejante encuentro habrá que esperar al siguiente tomo de esta obra maestra de manga.

Musahi fought Inshun. The fight was good. They also didn't let Musahi win every fight which i liked. He ran away from the oppoment something that not every main character does.
Over confidence and fear of the opponent makes the fighter lose the fight before it even beguns.
If we look at the manga's lesson then we see that Musahi represents those that work hard for their goals, never back down, unwavering will and those that win for those qualities
while, Matahachi represents those that have strength but they lose because they constantly give in to their desires and are not confident.

Voy por el tomo 6 y Vagabond me está pareciendo una auténtica barbaridad. Tenía muchas ganas de poder leerla y está siendo una de las experiencias más enriquecedoras que he tenido con un cómic. Takehiko Inoue me parece, sin exagerar, uno de los mejores mangakas del mundo, Slam Dunk y Real ya me parecían obras maestras, y Vagabond no se queda atrás. Su narrativa, su trazo, la profundidad de sus personajes y el peso filosófico de cada página lo convierten en algo que va mucho más allá del manga.

I am wondering though what Inoue has prepared for Matahachi. I know next to nothing on Japanese history, but I do know that Sasaki Kojiro found his death in a duel with Mushashi. Is Inoue preparing a duel for Mushashi with his old pal?

Vagabond Volume 6
Esse volume vai dos cap 50 ao 59 e aquele o autor mostra em como é mestre em se aprofundar nos seus personagens vemos aqui como o medo do protagonista Musashi é trabalhado e como ele vai ter que superar ele pra conseguir derrotar seu oponente eu gostei muito desse capítulo a história continua incrível.

7.9/10 good art, the few coloured pages were great. I am not enjoying the story as much as i thought i would. I’ll still aim to finish the 3rd omnibus, but my hopes aren’t high now. Don’t get me wrong, it is a page turner, my favorite bits were with him learning from the old master.

I love Inshun. Such a great character. Such a great opponent.
The training panels had some kind of Luke/Yoda feel to them.
