The moment our defense satellites began falling from the sky, we suspected this was an invasion. Massive fleets of unknown origin had simultaneously appeared across the globe, attacking major cities and small towns. It was a violent display of full-spectrum global dominance - swift and clinical, rendering much of the world’s military forces into smoldering piles of ash before they even had a chance to respond. First contact was nothing less than a devastating surprise attack.
Humanity’s end had arrived with grim finality.
For Kentucky State Policeman, Matt Reeves, today’s shift will not only be a gut-wrenching fight for survival, it will also be the catalyst that changes his life forever, sending him down a path of all-out interstellar war.
Read the thrilling prequel to The Earth Epsilon Wars, and find out why readers are calling it "The definition of page-turning science-fiction!"

A fan of many genres, he enjoys writing thrillers that contain a sci-fi edge. He currently resides in Australia with his wife and two dogs. This short novella is a modern, futuristic, fast paced action, cop story. Half way through aliens invade and appear to destroy almost everything except the cop and his prisoner. It is fast, fun, and easy to read but with little depth. It is basically a teaser to the series of novels and does not fully end. It takes about 2 hours to read.
It is worth reading on its own but especially to see if you are interested in the series, or if you get a free copy.
Not bad but not fantastic. Thankfully the coincidences that seem to be embedded into books like this were minimal or well integrated so they were very plausible. Even knowing this was an intro to a series, it was disappointing that it ended so soon. I still like there to bit some sort of stronger finish to the story. A little longer (not much) would have been better as I think one question would have been answered (related to one person not the overarching storyline). Getting to that point would have ended this and provided plenty of room for future stories (regardless of how things ended at that point).
This is mostly about a State Policeman named Matt Reeves who has taken into custody an obvious criminal and frankly, the criminal is obviously Latino... at least in the audiobook version of this story. (I assume it is a novella.) But before he can get his charge to the police station an alien invasion ensues. Then it becomes a matter of survival where both men are depending on each other just to stay alive.
It's an exciting story. I really liked it.
FYI, I am a Mexican-American straight outta Compton.
It looks like a great introduction to the series and I will probably read this book again, and maybe the series. Looks good.
I didn't expect a lot from this prequel...and it delivered on my pretty low expectations. I have read the first two books of the series and decided to read this prequel before continuing with the rest of the series.
The story is decent enough, even if not a necessary addition to the bigger story that takes place in the "Earth Epsilon Wars" series. The story is set right before the invasion by the Wraith begins, when Matt is still working on the Police Force and before he gets involved in the wild ride that takes place in the other books!
If you enjoy the rest of the books, you will enjoy this short novella for what it is, a very brief story that gives us a glimpse of the original invasion of Earth.
Very interesting beginning to series. Worst possible way for a first contact to go. The first time we realize there ARE aliens, they are already shooting, trying to destroy us. Lots and lots of action, for a prequel. Good ending to make you want to continue. Narrator Bronson Pinchot did a great job, also.
I would like to thank the author for offering me a free audible file to listen to this story. This is a totally voluntary review.
Good beginning to the series, liking the main character. That he is a cop helps a little in the story to show he does have some type of weaponry knowledge, and isn’t completely clueless. I wish that it was longer though, felt too short for a prequel. Hope the next book is even longer and better.
Holy wow! I fell in love with this book by the second chapter! Great characters, good and bad, and situations that were complicated, yet easy to break down and follow. I am eager to see what happens next, so I’m heading over to purchase the second book right now.
This prequel introduces us to an invasion by human-like aliens. The year is 2048. Kentucky State Policeman Matt Reeves and his recently captured culprit Joel encounter the unbelievable. A good beginning to a short series.
This novella was gripping and did a great job of paying homage to the current sci-fi alien invasion trope. If you're going to do it, you got to do it right and this little novella does a good job of pulling that off. I will move on to book one in hopes that it stays as good as this intro.
Excellent book! The story starts out real quick in the life of a highly motivated and very expert police officer. No spoilers here but today's special raid/assignment starts out quickly with a bang. Then things get very strange and deadly beyond words. This prequel is full of action that kept me riveted through to the end. Expertly edited and written so well I felt like I was there and it had my heart pounding. I will be reading the rest of this series (thank goodness there is more) in short order. It is more than likely that I will end up reading everything Terrance Mulloy has written. It' that good and the author is an amazing talent. I highly recommend this book!
