I’m looking for a hot hookup with no strings attached. And I want my older brother’s best friend to step up to the plate...

My dating history is lame. My experiences in bed? Even lamer. As the owner of a thriving business, I’m used to calling the shots. But one place I don’t always want to be in charge is in the bedroom.

Enter Luke Rodgers. My brother’s best friend. Former major league baseball player. A guy who now hangs out on his farm, sweaty and shirtless, as he nurses a shoulder injury.

If the rumors are true, he also likes to work up a sweat behind closed doors. A total MVP in the sack.

Just the take charge guy I’m looking for.

With Luke and I, it’s game on. And it’s all good until Luke decides he wants forever, and he wants it with me.

I’m just not convinced I can trust Luke. Will he keep playing the field and break my heart? Or is he really ready to hang up his cleats for good?

SOUTHERN PLAYER is a full length, STANDALONE romance. The books in the Charleston Heat series are interconnected standalone romances, and can be read in any order.

Southern Player is book two in the Charleston Heat series by Jessica Peterson. This can be read as a stand alone. I started out reading book three in this series and fell in love with it. Then I went back and read book one and now this one. I met both Luke and Gracie in the other books and was so anxious to read their story.

southern player jessica peterson

Gracie Jackson is Eli’s little sister, a sister he is very protective of, especially from his best friend, Luke, who has been known for his one night stand ways. Gracie is highly educated and is living her dream in Charleston. She owns her own business, Holy City Roasters, a coffee shop. She’s in the middle of a big addition to the original shop and is preparing for the grand re-opening.

What hasn’t been her dream is her romantic life. Gracie is thirty one years old. She had thought by now she would be madly in love with her soul mate and starting a family. In reality, she’s had a string of bad relationships. Every one leaving her feeling more and more inadequate. Maybe she’s going about this all wrong. Maybe instead of looking for her forever man, she should find someone to hook up with, no strings attached, and try to find her true self, experience some of her secret bucket list, things she never felt comfortable telling her previous boyfriends.

“What if I set my quest for love aside for a bit and explored lust instead?”

cowboy

Luke Rodgers is a former professional baseball player. When an injury ended his career, he started on part two of his dream, he bought thirty acres and has started Rodger’s Farms. He loves his quiet simple life. He has had plenty of hook ups over his life time but he’s ready to settle down out on his farm, and raise a family. Luke has had a crush on Gracie for over ten years, since they first met. But firstly, she was his best friend, Eli’s little sister. Second, she was never available whenever they happened to cross paths. Now, to his surprise, he finds out that Gracie is single. Maybe it’s finally time to make his feelings known, to pursue the girl he’s dreamed of for so long.

Gracie wants someone she is comfortable with to finally experience some of the things she’s only every fantasized about. Who better than the man she has had a crush on since she was in college, her brother’s best friend, Luke. She knows he’s a player, so he’s the perfect choice.

southern player jessica peterson

This is kind of a role reversal where the hero wants the relationship and the heroine doesn’t. But it’s Gracie’s self confidence that says play it cool. Not her heart. And Luke recognizes this. He’s dedicated to proving to Gracie that she can trust him, that he can be her forever guy and at the same time, she can be her true self.

What I loved about this book is that these two were so honest with each other. Luke knew just how to help Gracie to let go of what she thought she should be and embrace who she really was, ask for what she wanted. I think of the three books I have read, this is the hottest. These two were smokin! I think that the kisses in this story were the most intense, emotional, beautiful kisses I’ve ever read. It’s like every kiss held a whole conversation, was full of so much emotion. They were just so much.

“That’s what his kiss is. A capture, a claiming, a pull that has my whole body rising to meet him.”

I did struggle a bit, though, in this book, with their dialogue. I have no idea why. I love a country boy. And I already had a connection to both of these characters from the other books. Just for some reason, for me, I struggled a bit with their interactions. I think it just must be something to do with me. Because I loved the other two books obsessively.

venn love diagram

Luke is a country boy, Gracie is a city girl. Can they find enough common ground to make it work? Can Luke convince Gracie that she can trust him with her heart? I do love this series. I definitely want to visit Charleston now. I can’t wait to see what this author has planned next!

“Take all you need. Cause I got a lot to give. And I’m gonna give it all to her.”

I don't know how she does it. I swear, each book I read from Jessica Peterson, I always think, "this is my favorite one." SOUTHERN PLAYER is no exception. I floved this book SO hard.

I don't want to give away plot spoilers but I will say this: I grinned the entire time I read this book. Luke and Gracie were everything I wanted them to be - and then they became so much more than I even hoped. Sexy. Sweet. Authentically amazing.

While I was reading, a friend asked me how I was enjoying the book, and my response (exact words!!) was, "It's the sort of book that just makes you feel good. I have this happy bubble in my chest that just won't quit."

Luke and Gracie made me swoon. They made me wish no one would disturb me because they are so flipping HOT and their chemistry is off the charts. They gave me all the feels and reminded me that living your best life means being authentic with what you want out of it.

If I could give this book ten-scorching-hot stars I would, it's that flipping good and I'm still grinning like crazy. So good!!

Six star read for me ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

For me this book was perfect. I adored Luke and Gracie. Simply adored them!

You know how some books flow beautifully, make you smile and have you laughing out loud while reading. The ones that have you flipping through the pages, ignoring the outside world. That's this book.

It's packed with witty dialogue. Well rounded characters that you come to care about and handles true emotions and insecurities, that if we're honest, we all have. Add to that some of the BEST sexual chemistry and sex scenes I've ever read (hubs got a late night wake up with this one) and you've got the best kind of romance.

Luke is my ideal BBF. He's HAF - shirtless tractor ride anyone 🤤😍. He's kind. He's genuine. He's filthy and most importantly he's emotionally there. Look I love the broken Ahole character as much as the next reader, but Luke, he's the kind of MAN that you see yourself falling for not just in a book, but IRL.

Gracie - well I girl crush her hard. Successful, smart and just a little damaged. I love her quest to find her sexuality and the bravery she shows when risking her emotions in the search for love. Just love her.

Definitely my favourite read from this author and going into my 2019 Favourites.

I received an ARC of this book.

Two words: Luke. Rodgers.

If you read this book for no other reason, let him be it. Jessica Peterson wrote his simple-yet-profound point of view with perfection. He was one of the most sincere, sweet, and adorable (not to mention HOT) characters I've read in a long time. I would read this book again for him alone.

Need another reason to read? THIS IS STEAMY AF. Probably the steamiest book I've ever read, and I mean that in a good way. The best way, really. Smart writing, funny one-liners, and all the heat you could possibly want makes an easy one-click read for me.

Could I do that? Could I really leave scared at the door and embrace sensual instead? Only one way to find out.

There is something about Jessica Peterson's writing that has become so recognizable to me. It's like settling in in that perfect cozy spot at home with a hot cup of cocoa and a soft fuzzy blanket.

After finishing Southern Charmer, I couldn't wait to see what she had in store for Grace and Luke! And knowing what the basis of their story was about, I knew it was going to be HOT! And it was.

I don't like to give away too much information in my reviews, but one thing that I absolutely loved in this book was it's pacing. Since their relationship was part of a 'deal' I really was hoping that Peterson was going to take it slow for them, and she did with absolute perfection!

Luke and Gracie Girl are going to make you swoon. Reading about them letting down their guard and welcoming each other into a vulnerable space was so sweet and enduring. But one thing that Peterson does so well? Her bedroom scenes, and they are fantastic! You feel like you are along the adventure with Grace, and I love that.

Two opposite things- careful and fearless. But I'd like to thing, if I'm smart and I play my cards right, there's a way to be both.

I loved every second of Gracie and Luke’s story. Their friendship was sweet and their chemistry was sexy and sizzling hot, which made for an amazing love story.

There were so many great moments that I just loved from start to finish in this book. From the delicious, flirty, easy banter between the characters to the level of care and concern for each other was was endearing. There were some amazing highs, a few lows and emotionally charged moments both from Gracie and Luke.

Jessica Peterson's writing is always superb and Southern Player is no different. She emotes feelings so very well they just pour from every page. This is a story that is so sublimely written and wonderfully executed. It really gave me every single feel and had me glued to every page.

2.5 Stars.

The book is not that bad like its blurb sounds. But it's not that good either. The heroine wanted to explore sex and the hero wanted to settle down. She was his friend's younger sister.

What surprises me about the book is that the heroine and the hero both talked about their preferences with the elder brother before started to have sex. It was cringeworthy. I mean seriously you are asking for permission from your elder brother to f**k his friend. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

After that, it was obvious. They started to have sex and both of them tried to give this relationship a chance. Everything was going ok until the hero started to have doubt that he doesn't deserve the heroine shit. He was so insecure that he literally broke up with her. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

I liked the heroine, at least She was confident enough to know what she wants from her life and how she wants it.

Safety Issue:
It was safe after they started to have sex but obviously they were not celibate before that. They both have a crush on each other but they never acted on it. He was a manwhore. He enjoyed his life fully while he was playing in the premier league.

Oh my stars....sweet, swoony, sexy, steamy, Southern....Grace and Luke’s story sizzles!!! Grace gets in her head about being the perfect person in relationships and it almost ruins her for finding the real thing. Luke gets in his head too as he wonders if he’s enough. I love a book that has real life advice and this one has a lot....be true to yourself, find someone who loves the real you, the importance of communication, compromise, it’s ok to ask for what you want, and so much more. This book is a real page turner....be prepared to read it cover to cover because you’re not going to want to put it down.

I don’t think I will ever hear the words “ Baby Girl” without be reminded of this book. That is a good thing! This is a story that brings a smile to my face and butterflies in my heart. In other words it warmed my grits. It also deals with real feelings and insecurities that many of us face everyday. It draws our attention to the question how much are you really ready to change about yourself and do you even know, know yourself? How much are your worth and what happens when you assume things about yourself and others? Even though this is a romance novel there’s a lot to this story that should not be skimmed over. There’s one point in the book that I could relate to so well. It wasn’t Gracie’s part either. She showed Luke’s vulnerabilities and I could totally identify with it. We get to see that it doesn’t matter the gender, there are times we all suffer the same insecurities. The author has woven a very entertaining and romantic story with a lot more going on than meets the eye. You want to keep reading this book to the end. Putting it down is not an option. It wasn’t for me and I have the circles under my eyes to prove it.

Seriously, this story will make you swoon, tingle and become more educated about the south. I really want to visit Charleston. The last book took me on a food fest and artistic journey. This time I got to see another part of this beautiful landscape. She paints a realistic portrait though, even describing the heat!!! I have to remember to not visit in the summer.

We also get to meet new and interesting characters and of course are treated to some of our favorites again. Hopefully, we’ ll be blessed with future stories about these gems.

This is a book you don’t want to end. There are some fabulous lines. One of my favorites is, “I’m sweatin’ like a hooker in a church”. I seriously laughed out loud. It took me out. The book is filled with quips that will make your heart happy. And the heat index is way up and I don’t mean the weather temperature. You may even tear up.

I guess I should stop because I will just continue to sing the praises of this beautiful book. These are people you don’t want to leave. What I will say is do yourself a favor and read this book. You deserve it!

“Five shooting stars. Or would it be exploding stars?” Southern Player, Jessica Peterson

The words within this book wrote their own review! Five regular stars just wouldn’t be enough for this amazing book that I could barely put down!

I loved every second of the story of Gracie and Luke. Their friendship and love was a sweet and super sexy story. They built each other up. Made the other understand their own real value. And together, they only made each other even better.

I love how Luke gave Gracie everything she needed to believe and trust in herself and to understand that she was perfect just how she was.

I also love that Gracie built Luke up to understand that he was good enough, and absolutely perfect for her.

The addition of family, community, humor, and - let’s be real- coffee ; had me absolutely and completely enamored with this story.

Smart. Sexy. Swoon-worthy. This book had EVERYTHING!!!

I’ve loved every Jessica Peterson book I’ve picked up, and Southern Player is no different. I went in with high expectations, and the story certainly delivered. It is no surprise Jessica Peterson is one of my favourite contemporary romance writers.

After Southern Charmer, book one in the Charleston Heat series, I was desperate to see how things played out between Gracie and Luke. The little insights we were given into their story in book one left me desperate for more, and I knew there was a lot of fun to be had between the two of them. Although you get a wee bit more through reading Southern Charmer first, Southern Player works perfectly fine as a standalone novel. However, with my love for the series, it should come as no surprise for me to recommend reading the series in order because they’re just so good.

With Southern Player, we have a book that had me smiling for the entirety. My jaw hurt by the time I was done, because the stupid expression would not leave my face. I adored the characters, I adore their interactions, and I could not control my facial muscles as I worked my way through their story. I was in love with them, sucked in, and anyone who looked my way would have known I was having a good time. I guess, in that sense, it’s a good job I live alone, otherwise there could have been some questions being thrown my way.

It wasn’t just the characters and the interaction that was great, but also the story. I love how Jessica Peterson always manages to send a strong message without being preachy. She makes it so you realise you’re worth more, that there is beauty out there, but at no point do I stop and roll my eyes thinking ‘this is romance, of course everyone deserves happiness’. In fact, this book deals with the way romances influences our views and how people view romance readers. Rather meta, when you stop and think about it, without feeling like a destruction of the fourth-wall is occurring.

Without a doubt, Southern Player was another winner from Jessica Peterson. It’s guaranteed I’ll be powering through the Charleston Heat series as I do every Jessica Peterson release. In fact, I’m extra excited for book three as it’s one of my favourite tropes.

Bring on more of this goodness!

Southern Player was amazing! I loved so much about it. I loved that it was a continuation of Southern Charmer, book #1 of Charleston Heat series, and that Eli and Olivia were featured as well. I loved that it was set in Charleston, a town I have visited many times, and that neighboring hot spots and towns were mentioned including a scene at the beach. I love the friends to lovers and best friend’s sister genre.

But mostly, I loved Gracie and Luke Rogers together! I loved that they were normal people and he wasn’t a cocky billionaire, and how much they truly liked one another and didn’t try to change each other. Even though the title contains the word “player,” Luke only had eyes for Gracie. He was such a good man, a southern gentleman, in public and to her, but when they were alone, oh my! The pages really heated up! A former pro-baseball player, he followed his passion of moving back home and owning a farm. This was really interesting to me as I also live in a farming community and really admire those in this field as it’s not an easy life.

This book has so many southern references and it’s obvious Jessica Peterson knows her stuff or researched it very well. You feel as if you are part of the town and route for this couple the entire time. After reading these two books, it sounds so enticing that I would want to live there and be their friends!

This book hit home for me, because just like Gracie, I love reading romance and am hoping to find someone who is right for me. Ms. Peterson, through her characters, gives great advice, and I highlighted many sections to revisit! Gracie talked about being true to herself, and how she had to not try to be perfect or make it her main focus to please her partner.

Luke was supportive and honest with her right from the beginning. I loved the dual point-of-view and how open he was about his vision of their future vs. hers. This is a bit of a reverse because he wanted the relationship and she wanted more of the benefits at first. This couple had explosive chemistry and many of these scenes were smoking hot! It goes to show you that when you are with the right person and can let down your guard and trust them, good things will happen.

I loved how attentive he was to her every need, especially her bucket list. Luke was patient and creative, always putting her needs first, and in doing so, her joy became his joy.

They complimented each other so beautifully, and genuinely enjoyed each other’s company. It’s nice to read about a couple getting along and not always bickering and fighting. I loved how accomplished and educated, yet down-to-earth and humble, Gracie was. I loved how they both appreciated the simple things in life and valued friendship, community, hard work, and family. Loved his two moms and their sense of humor! Loved when he called her his “Gracie Girl” with such adoration.

I loved how supportive and passionate they were of their own careers and each other’s, how they weren’t pretentious, and had the same values and goals. How they confronted their insecurities, gave each other confidence, and made each other better versions of themselves. I especially loved how they could be honest with each other and not play games like couples do in so many other books I read. They weren’t perfect, and after some soul searching could admit when they were wrong, and that they were committed to making it work and building a life together.

I also loved how protective Eli, her big brother was, how close they all were, and how through Olivia’s romance novel, they were able to so cleverly finish the last item on Gracie’s bucket list. Everything in this book comes together so beautifully and all of your questions will be answered.

I know I used the word “love” a lot in my review, but I do honestly feel this way. I read the book in one sitting ignoring every other thing I had to do today because it was that good. It left me feeling inspired and hopeful, and craving book 3!

Total standalone, but I HIGHLY recommend reading book 1, Southern Charmer, first. You'll get a glimpse of Luke and Gracie before they even know there is a Luke & Gracie ;-)

Some stories are so good they are hard to review. EVERYTHING about this one makes me smile. I haven't been so thoroughly entertained reading a book in a while. I laughed, I cringed, I smiled so big, and yes, I fussed & stomped my foot when Luke has a dumb boy moment.

I have not highlighted SO many great lines in a story ever. Jessica Peterson's writing is always superb - Southern Player being an excellent example. She writes feelings so well they leap off the page.

"But let me show you how I can do better than the guys who came before me. There ain't nothin' lukewarm about the way I feel for you, Grace."

"I wanna be part of your liberation from bad boyfriends and bad sex."

"...it's about me being able to tell my truth. It's about making myself the star of my own story"

"Aw yeah. I like where this is going". Luke & his "aw yeah" <3

YUM! As much as I loved Eli (from Southern Charmer, Charleston Heat 1, but don't worry they are stand alones interconnected series, reading this one first is FINE) I think I love Luke MORE. He's just soooo dreamy! His dirty talk, YIKES, scorched my Kindle lol. The description though of that mountain of a man, a bear, with the soft melty center, thats my addiction I didn't even know I had an this author had me mainlining it! I was feeling his whole vibe about not feeling like he fit in Gracie's 'world'. The best and most honorable intentions, any brother would have been proud to have his sister dating Luke. I feel like his missteps at the end only strengthened their bond in the long run. Also I loved their banter! It makes the story so much better much like laughter adds so much value to life! Really wonderful well rounded tale and I can't wait for more from one of my favorite one click authors!

This is an easy 5-star review for me… Five shooting stars. Or would it be exploding stars? Orgasmic ones, maybe?

Luke and Gracie’s story is a Southern Belle’s dream, y’all!

Gracie (Gracie Girl, baby girl…) owns Holy Roasters coffee shop and has degrees from college. Smokin’ hot “experienced” Luke is a college dropout and recovering MLB player (in more ways than one). Can they get Eli’s approval for their “plans” for one another?

The incredible writing done by Author Jessica Peterson has once again brought me to the south and embedded me into the story, just like book one in the series, Southern Charmer. The way she added the “inner thoughts” of the characters throughout this book I FREAKING LOVED, LOVED, LOVED! So perfectly included and placed and it just set you right into their minds! I loved the incredible humor, the major heat level, the storyline, the characters…ALL. OF. IT. Oh, and the fantastic lines! I have never marked so many lines in a book before…EVER!

God, I wanna show you how it’s done.
I wanna show you, sweet girl.
And then I’d wreck you. Same as you’re wrecking me right now.

The slang and the drawl and southern accents delivered into this…PERFECTION! I just honestly fell in love with Luke and his…everything…especially his zucchini and eggplants! The chemistry, banter, and already established friendship between Gracie and Luke add so much comfortable humor between them! I laughed SO hard SO many times…and now I have suddenly have a craving for grits! LOL. Plus, the way Jessica has written Olivia’s books (My Deal With The Duke) into this story is fantastic! It is such a great addition and adds to the storyline so smoothly.

Baby Girl, why you gotta make me feel this way when you’re with me?
Feel what way?
Like everything’s gonna be okay.

So many mentionable scenes…the bar, Gracie talking to Eli, Luke talking to Eli, any scene with the mamas, the bucket list, the butt stuff….I could keep going on and on…but instead, y’all should just pick up a copy and read it, but not in church, people, because Luke will have your panties melting!

Jessica Peterson writes the books I crave....strong heros and the kick ass women that love them. I have been waiting for this book since I fell completely head over heals for Eli in Southern Charmer. Eli, the sexy, kind, charming chef who was brought joy by feeding people, mind body and spirit. He was special and I knew his sister Gracie would be special too. Southern Player is Gracie's book. Gracie is not only smart, beautiful and accomplished, but she is also a romantic at heart. She is looking for a deep, passionate, sexual connection with a man, like the one she reads about in her historical romances. However, she has yet to find the one that not only satisfies her heart but also her soul. Her recent relationships have left her both emotionally and sexually unfulfilled. She's pretty much given up hope until a chance encounter with Luke. Luke Rodgers is all sunshine, sex and sin wrapped in a yummy six foot three package. He is an ex baseball player who happens to be Eli's best friend and her teenage crush. Due to a recent injury, his playing days are over and how his focus is solely on his organic vegetable farm. Maybe, just maybe, he is the perfect guy to help her move past her recent relationship insecurities and let her explore her sexual side without fear of judgement or commitment. Forbidden older brother best friend/younger sister romances are my catnip. I love them. Southern Player takes that trope to a whole other level. The heat, the heart and the emotion of their journey was pure perfection. Jessica Peterson gave these characters life and I enjoyed every minute of this read. We also were able to catch up with Eli and Olivia which was a treat. If you are like me and are a fan of strong, sexy heros and the kick ass heroines that they love, then give this series a try, give this book a try and you will not be disappointed.

Where do you even begin with a tale as enrapturing as Luke and Gracie?

Grits✅
Coffee✅✅
Butt Stuff✅✅✅

This is by far my favorite Jessica book to date. I loved Eli in Southern Charmer, but Luke stole my heart with his extreme country boy ways.

So many great moments from start to finish. The flirty, easy banter between the characters makes you jealous of their bond. The level of care and concern for the others goals whether it be in business or pleasure is admirable.

Speaking of pleasure...Hot Damn! The desire, the need, the frustration all run rampant in this book. Gracie and Luke not only burn up the pages, but the sheets as well. Their friendship and trust sets such a precedent for their exploration of one another.

But with that, comes insecurity and Jessica touches on it all. This book is all encompassing and shows how true passion and a great spark can go one of two ways based on what’s in your heart. Such a well written story that will definitely leave you with a Luke, “Aw, yeah.” when it’s all said and done.

Check out Luke and Gracie in Southern Player to see how it all plays out.

I simply want to gush about so many aspects of this book but can’t because I don’t want to give anything away! I will say having a novel (within a novel) relate to what is going on with the characters is simply fantastic! It strengthens my love for books and how they heal us in so many ways!

I have always admired Jessica’s ability to bring pop culture into her books but to create her own really adds more depth to this book and it helped me to see everything through the characters eyes!

I loved the flow of Luke and Gracies journey and how open they were with each other. In most books communication is where it all goes wrong but that wasn’t so much the case with this story and that’s what I LOVED about it! It was real and relatable. I felt that I could connect with the characters more so because of it.

This is definitely a 2019 must read!

Gracie and Luke are hot from page one. Gracie is a successful independent woman who simply wants to meet a man who will accept and love her for who she is and what she wants. Luke is a sexy hot ex-baseball player turned farmer who is ready to settle down. Southern Player has everything you’ll laugh, cry, get angry and sigh in adoration at everything that is Luke and Gracie. Let’s not forget Luke’s mama’s because they are so funny and refreshing!!

Southern Player is another wonderful story and I can’t wait for the next book!!!!

A Delicious Recipe
If Southern Charmer was a journey of discovering our own strength and not apologizing for who we want to be in life, in our business, career and not hesitating to drop all that is considered ‘essential’ nowadays, Southern Player decided that playing with our hearts was the best course of action.

Gracie's journey reminds us of not being ashamed of who we want to be in bed, in our hearts, at the same time that sheds light – in a very relatable way – in women’s tendency of carrying the blame for everything wrong in a relationship. Luke, despite having every ingredient to be the usual dominant, clueless alpha male hero, adds strength to the plot, not only from his well-endowed physical attributes but from his refreshing normality and ability to just be there for her.

The story continues to weave the passion of the characters for Regency novels, the sense of community that comes from living in the South, and the rescuing of food traditions that were present in the first book of the series. Food porn and puns are plenty, as well as sexy and delicious scenes.

Even though this is the second book in the series, it can definitely be read as a standalone. Luke and Gracie cast a spell on me and had me reading their story straight through in one sitting. Theirs is a story that goes beyond the brother's best friend/little sister genre. Both light hearted banter and really open and honest discussions between the two made for an impressively penned novel. I loved, loved the real insecurities that they both had and shared with each other. It's those insecurities of one of them that threatens their happily ever after. I loved seeing them build each other up and realizing their own value as the person they are, not as what they think they should do/be/give up for others. Of course, the sexy, dirty talking, muscle bound hotness of Luke and the way he helped Gracie bring out her inner vixen was so arousing. There were some amazing highs, a few lows and some tears, both from Gracie and Luke and myself as well. I'm looking forward to the next book in this standalone series.

Southern Player is Hot!

Southern Player is hot and sweet as the day is long. I was lucky enough to read the ARC of this book and it was AMAZING! How can I describe this book without giving spoilers? I think you will read this book and fall in love with Luke and Gracie like I did. With Jessica's description of Luke I can picture him in my mind as plain as day, sexy former baseball player now farmer. Gracie is a beautiful, smart business owner, who is also the younger sister to his bestfriend. Follow the story when Gracie  makes an offer to Luke that he can't refuse. I will tell you that Jessica writes such a rich characters and the stories are so funny that you almost feel like you know these people. If I could give this book more than five stars I would. This is a must read! (Along with all of Jessica Peterson other fabulous books)

Gracie really does love catching her man off guard, "Gracie nods. “Oh yeah. This is a—well, a sexual list, I guess.” I make a noise. Somewhere between a growl and a groan." Luke will always make time for his girl, “baby, you callin’ for phone *** is never a bother. I always got time for that.” Luke appreciates his girl loving food, "she doesn’t even look up at me before leaning in for another bite. Then another. Look at this. My city girl devouring an eight-dollar dinner like it’s the best thing she ever ate. I love it. I do not love how it’s making me tent my effing pants." I liked this book, I loved Luke.
