My name is Shadow.
Assassin, taker of lives
I’m what fears are based on, the one who exists in the shadows, only seen when you look death in the eye, and beg for its forgiveness.
I am the nightmare whose name you whisper in the dark of night.
Your jailer, judge, and executioner all rolled in one.
In my world, my brother and I are ghosts, and we don’t give out second chances.
I thought I knew everything about the world I was born into, but I was wrong.
It took one failed mission to turn my whole world upside down, and I discovered everything I thought I knew was all a lie.
Revenge is still my mission, but now the targets have changed.

Revenge was very much not what I expected. I went into it for a dark contemporary RH but ended up with a big dose of paranormal. Welp, what can I say, I'm still a sucker for the supernatural.

The book was entertaining but far from stellar. A few typos, no character really likeable and -magic apart- not as dark and twisted as it should have been. But twins, multiple povs and quickies in dark places? Sign me in.

Book two comes out in a few days and I will read it. I am wishing for some Maddie time hardcore.

Amazing and Twisted

I just finished this book and I am absolutely speechless! This book was everything I wanted and more. I’m a sucker for dark romance RH books and this is definitely one of the best ones I have ever read. It had everything that I’ve ever dreamed of in a book from a kick ass assassin, sexy supernaturals, and a genius twin brother that’s always got Remy’s back. Everything about this book was amazing from the character and world building to the emotional turmoil this book wrenched out of you. Fair warning, this book ends in a cliff hanger that makes you want to hunt down the author and shake her until she gives you all the answers, but it’s well worth it. I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed a main character or her mates more than this gang of twisted and diabolical crazies. I’m so excited to see where this series goes, and I’m already ready for book 2 to come out. Trust me on this book and you will never regret it! Great work CY Jones, I’m going to be waiting at the edge of my seat until the next book comes out!!! Ugh I have no words for how much I loved this book!

So honestly, I tend to be drawn in by the covers of books, and while I’m not really a fan of this one, the blurb intrigued me. I am so glad I checked this out. Remy/Shadow is awesome. She is fierce, has endured a lot, and made some pretty evil choices, but suddenly she finds her world turned upside down. I like the world that Jones has created. The jump into the first steamy time was a little abrupt, but I did like seeing the relationships begin forming. I so want to learn more about Silas and Maddie. The story ends with a cliffhanger, and I am eagerly looking forward to book 2!

Gritty, Supernatural, reverse harem with villainous heroes and heroic villains

This story is reverse harem with a small cliffhanger, but as it’s a series it just leaves you wanting to know what happens next. Trigger warning for non-consensual content but it’s dealt with well and is in the past.

Remy is a total badass and highly skilled Assassin. The story is centred around her and her mates and her journey to escape her past and punish her mothers killer(s). I love how this story builds and the characters develop. This story is gritty and compelling, I was completely sucked in and left wanting more. I cannot wait for the next book.

I need the next book...now

Holy shhhh. I DEVOURED this book in less than 2 hours. I’ve been in the worst book funk lately and this definitely broke that. Shadow is seriously everything I could want in a FMC. She is REAL. Well aside from the whole supernatural thing. But for real, she is a take no shit woman, who doesn’t just roll over for the men in her life. One of my biggest gripes about some books is how the woman allows her mates to just tell her what to do, and how she goes from instantly hating them to love after they say messed up stuff to her. This is not that case. Please do yourself a favor and read this ASAP.

Potential

Paranormal. Rh. 4 out of the 5 mates. Multi POV. Assassin FMC. The most feared twin assassins go out on a mission to elimanate their mother's killer, but everything goes wrong. Remy finds she's been lied to. I really like this debut book, it has some great potential. As first in series usually go, we are introduced to the characters and the base line of the plot. You can see where this plot as the potential to be intricate and deep. Looove the characters even the villains, they are all so unique. Maddie is my favorite even if we didn't get to see much of him. Looking forward to the next one.

Remy and Rowen are twin who find out that everything they were ever told is a straight out lie include their own father! They set out to right the wrongs in their lives with the help of their real father and Remy meets her soul mates along the way. The ending of the books leaves you screaming for the next book!

Revenge grabbed my attention from the get go and never let go! The plot is very interesting and unpredictable and keeps you reading to know what happens next. The characters dynamic and interactions together are also quite entertaining and humorous at times.
Definitely recommend Revenge of you love action packed paranormal reverse harems.

Ok where to start Remy the main character is the best female character I have ever read about. She is a feared assassin who has a few hot guys to help her with any and all her problems including love. This book was absolutely amazing, it pulls you in and keeps you on your toes. It flows smoothly, and has awesome characters that you fall head over heels for. I will be recommending this book to everyone.

It was seriously that amazing and I’m highly recommending this to everyone. A book so out there it exceeds rationality

This is a big no for me, I got 24% and I wasn't feeling this story and how it reminded me of " a life of shadows " by Kristen banet. If you have read that series then this was kinda what turned me off among other things. Character build horrible and pretty much none existent. And her liking these guys was way so fast, it gave me whiplash. And when speaking about the people who we're after her they were named after Alice in wonderland characters I was scratching my head, but wait there's more! I decided to skip some pages and see what else this book had and I landed on a page where she's sitting on a vampires lap, yes, a vampire! But not just a vampire but an Italian mob boss vampire, And he's running his fingers down her private area, and doing all kinds of stuff it seems before he flings her off and she drops her glamour? Her glamour? What in the crazy is going on here? This is a book that is made up of every other book in this world just short of rubbing a lamp and having a genie pop out. Shocking this has high ratings

This book was an accidental discovery of a great new author, an unexpected surprise, and a new addition to my favourites. It is also an amazing debut. It is action packed, dark at times, gripping, entertaining and occasionally super hot. Cliffhanger warning for those who don't like that kind of an ending. I loved it.
The author's writing is amazing. It is gripping, consistent, engaging, and the author has a great ability to create the atmosphere and put the reader in the centre of action. The tone is at times serious, and at times dripping with sarcasm. The author's continuous use of references to modern pop culture made me smile every time.
The world the author created is not ugly, but it's ugly for the main characters. They have been in proverbial hell from the day they were born, and they are still trying to get out. There is a lot of anger, despair, determination, and love in this book. There are also some super hot and steamy moments. Really well done, all of it.
The plot is fresh, original, and super intense. Keeps the reader glued to the pages, wouldn't let me stop reading. And the characters are amazing, wonderfully and consistently developed, mostly lovable. And if they are not lovable, then you have to admire the author on how unpleasant and unlovable she created them.
Twins, Remy and Rowen, trained to be assassins from the day they were born, are known and feared and Shadow and Phantom. Remy is the focus of the story, her revenge mission and her ugly past. Apart from action and ugliness, there are beautiful and sensual moments, which beautifully balance the story. Hunter, Cody, Silas and Maddie are wonderful characters, each in his own way, and each have a different kind of relationship and chemistry with Remy.
A lot of mysteries get solved but the story continues and there are lot more to be solved. As I mentioned, there is a cliffhanger, which I love, and this one was masterfully done. I loved every page of this book and I can't wait for the next one. I'm so glad I discovered this author. So much talent.

DNF @84%

It’s good but not that good. I just couldn’t finish it and I had less than 50 pages left. There’s a lot of potential here, but between the too easy mood changes of Remy from pissed to totally fine with it, and the grammar issues, it’s not as good as it could be. I’m pretty sure Kindle authors can edit their books so hopefully she does some updates here. The foundation for a good story is there and it’s a unique premise in a market filled with supernatural RHs but it needs work. I probably won’t read the rest of the series, which is a bummer because I wouldn’t have minded seeing where it was going. I just don’t know if it’s worth having to reread a sentence every few pages once I figure out what the author meant to say. It’s distracting.

By the time I bailed, I had no idea what her personality type was because she’s supposed to be some badass assassin, but she doesn’t really think before she speaks and questions the strategy in completely normal situations. Her powers are also waaaaay glossed over and while I appreciate not having the same plot over and over again, it’d still be nice to have something more than “I struggled for three hours” and two pages later she’s a master. I know it’s fiction, but you’ve gotta give me something. The only thing redeeming this book is Remy’s interactions with her mates, but by the time I jumped ship, the book was more focused on the plot and it just wasn’t there for me.

Wonderful surprise

So I had this book as one of my kindle unlimited for a few months, I was curious but didnt feel pressed to read it. It's a mixed blessing, that I won't have to wait as long for the second book and the other that it's a gem in disguise in my opinion.

Definite trigger warnings for sexual violence.

So there are a few editing issues but not enough to take away from the story. I'm a sucker for a good supernatural story but this one had a wonderful premise without it. I actually would have continued to read it, even if the supernatural had never reared its head.

I enjoyed the main character quite a bit. She was strong, but not bitchy imo. Which to me can sometimes blur with some authors. There is insta lust/love which I don't like, I prefer a more organic growth to the relationships, at least as much as can be done in a book or series. And I would take off half a star for that, but I enjoyed everything else so much I can look past it. If your on the fence, grab it, it's worth it.

No. Just no. The Heroine is supposed to be a super assassin, raised as one, with other of her "kind"....but all I hear are the thoughts of a 15 y.o. girl? At best? Same with the way she acts. The author needs to learn to write better. Sorry guys, but this is literally like the fanfic I used to write when I was 15.

This is not how someone behaves when they've been abused most of their life. Or someone who has been trained to observe minute details about everything. Or seamlessly blend in in any environment.
There were moments where unnecessary supposedly "cool" moments happened that weren't needed or that weren't actually "cool" at all.

Whatever the author wanted to show in this book, to transfer from her mind to ours, is failed big time. Sorry Miss Jones, but perhaps before you write your next book, read some of the best authors in this genre, see how they can manipulate language in order to give us a good book, and how they can produce a story that doesn't sound like the fantasies of a teenage mind.

So many errors and contradictions.

The typos alone are so difficult to get through. The entire book is filled with grammatical errors that make it seem as if it wasn’t edited at all.

The jumping so quickly between hate and then some kind of affection, and then immediately having some kind of threesome is completely unrealistic and comes out of nowhere. Not to mention, the descriptions are horrible. It’s so jumpy and the author wrote scenes that don’t make any sense.

So much of this book contradicts previous explanations. I think this book needs a serious overhaul with editing and some rewriting.

The story itself is good, but it wasn’t executed well at all.

Revenge is a paranormal reverse harem and is the first in this series. Shadow aka Remy is a ruthless assassin that has been trained for all the wrong reasons. Her and her twin brother, Phantom AKA Rowan, were stolen at birth and raised on the corrupt side of the line. As we get into the story, it is revealed that Remy has been lied to her entire life by those closest to her. When her eyes are opened, the world as she knows it is flipped upside down and everything that has been forgotten is now remembered. This book isn't what I was expecting at all, but I was on the edge of my seat the entire time.

Read the warning triggers! It's not a book for everyone! It's dark but very worth the read. Can not wait for book 3! This second book was well written and the story kept you enthralled, it does end on a cliff hanger as there is another book planned! I did get this as an arc but I also preordered a copy after reading book one. It's well worth the buy! Hope to add this to my actual book library room in the near future! Remy is a strong character and her men are developing there are some twists and some heart ache but over all a great story developing excited for the next book!!!

Wow, I just was not expecting this. I am completely blown away by this book and I am glad I gave it a chance. CY Jones is a new author for me so I had no clue what I was letting myself into.
I love this book and its story. The characters are well developed and have such history. Remy, she is such a kick ass character. I love the male leads, I have no favourites here I want them all. they are so individual and interesting.
I did not want this book to finish and I cannot wait to start the next one.

Needs much editing

☆☆☆
This was a good story but needs much editing. The MC are quite the dysfunctional family. The FMC is a badass in her own rights with so much darkness and uncertainty in her life.
All the action and in my opinion, unnecessary sex scenes, are good.
The villain I just don't understand. This turned out to be a paranormal romance which to me, totally defeats the purpose of how the villain is able to be a he is and feared.
Overall, I did enjoy the story. It would be an awesome one once editing are done.

Hooked from the start

I'm that person when it's a good book I can read over and over with it still me feel every emotion. This is one of them, trigger warning for anyone that cant take sexual abuse/assault.
First time reading I was surprised with the storyline because reading the blurb I wasn't expecting a paranormal twist. It is written so well that I couldn't put it down from start to finish then was heart broken with the abrupt ending.
So far I've yet to be dissatisfied with any of CY Jones books!!

Good story, needs editing

I really enjoyed this story. I had already started and stopped about four different books before this one. Nothing was holding my attention. This book had me from the get go. There are a couple things that could maybe have been influenced from other popular RH but nothing that is a copy or ripoff. This book does need some serious editing though. I still thoroughly enjoyed it despite the errors and can’t wait for the next one.
