Crystal Creek #3

Saving Dr. Weston Blake

Rate this book

He's in danger of losing his medical position, and the only person who can save him is the woman who annoys him the most.

All Dr. Weston Blake wants is to keep his heart intact while helping as many kids with cancer as possible. But his cool bedside manner has earned him the nickname of Dr. Doom and Gloom. If he can’t figure out how to connect with his patients, he’ll be kicked out of his residency program. He has one last chance to show the program director he can change . . . and that means being paired with the free-spirited, obnoxious pediatric art director, Miss JoJo.

Josephine loves teaching crafts at the Crystal Creek children’s hospital, until she’s assigned to work with Dr. Weston Blake. As she helps the young doctor soften his sharp edges and open up to the children, she catches glimpses of something more that makes her heart race whenever he’s nearby.

Opposites may attract, but can they fall in love and actually live happily-ever-after?

I read this when it was included in With A Kiss: A Sweet Romance Anthology last summer.

Can Josephine ("Miss Sunshine"), a volunteer in the Pediatric Oncology unit and Dr. Blake ("Dr. Doom and Gloom"), a resident in that same unit learn to get along? Looks like they'll have to since she's going to be his "tutor", helping Dr. Blake improve his bedside manner, which seems to be non-existent.

Such a touching story since it involves children undergoing cancer treatments. As Josephine (JoJo) and Weston Blake work together they learn about each other, and we find out why Dr. Blake is so analytical and doesn't seem very compassionate. We also learn why JoJo volunteers in the Pediatric Oncology floor. It's a sweet, touching story.

ORIGAMI GIRL is a true case of opposites attract. First impressions aren't always accurate and sometimes walls need to be knocked down to get to the heart of a person and sometimes a person isn't as flighty as she seems. I loved the setting and the character growth, especially with Dr. Blake. Jojo was such a fun an light-hearted character. The romance was a sweet complement to the slightly sad hospital situation.

nice story line BUT…

Nice story line but I definitely feel like it was left on a cliff hanger. It’s a great story plot but it seems to be incomplete like as soon as the grumpy one breaks the story ends. A very clean nothing but a kiss and holding hands in the book. Overall not a bad book would recommend for teens/young adult at best.

Mentor!

Saving Dr. Weston Blake: It was a great story of teaching and connection. Dr. Blake feels all he need is to figure out solution for cancer for children. He didn't feel he need to connect with the children. Then his boss say he need to spend two days a week with Josephine to learn how to connect with the children. It was a sweet romance.

You can't fool children

Cancer is a very scary thing to have. You aren't sure you have a future or not. Josephine was able to reach out to these children because of her experience with her brother. She was able to teach a doctor the importance to get to know his patients and have fun with them.

Cute little novella

This novella was short and sweet. I so wish it was longer, but at the same time it worked for having so little time to create a story. The characters were fun and the story was so endearing.

Saving who?

This book was such a sweet and clean romance. It showed the importance of relating to patients as people too. The uptight and headstrong doctor learned a lot from his Little Miss Sunshine.

This one was really good 4.5 stars. Josephine was a very kind and loving woman who gave so much of herself to others. She was extremely patient with Dr. Blake. Dr. Blake was blunt but had such a kind heart. The author did a great job of slowly developing each character separately and together as a couple. A sweet, clean, christian romance.
