Intended for mature adults 18 and over! This book is a standalone with a HEA ending
Abigail is a very romantic and open minded lady. She writes mainly Paranormal Shifter Romance and Contemporary Romance. She loves spending time with her 2 finicky cats and 2 shy dogs (they are twin sisters) and her husband. She lives in Lewisville, Texas and LOVES it here!
This was a very sweet wolf shifter book. I don’t have much else to say… it had slight pick-me vibes and everything conveniently work out perfectly. But a nice, quick, fluff book.
This is the most polite and almost ladylike book about shifters I've ever read. They are so bound by rules and politeness, they never felt like real people, just too perfect. They made sure to clean their teeth before morning sex. No passion in the writing, and much of the story was 'told' to the reader. The H and h are perfectly gorgeous, the meanies are perfectly mean, the usual shifter issues resolved politely, and no mess in the mansion. So bland.
This book was very slow anti climatic when it said epilogue I was like what is that it ? The story is just wolf gets human pregnant His 3 brothers are so so about whether to accept her or not and then they accept her the whole book is all still in her first trimester and that’s it book finished WHAT??? You obviously find out she’s had the baby in the epilogue but come on Not finishing the rest and I’m annoyed to have wasted my monthly audible credit on it. Also if your thinking of listening to the audiobook version like I did the narrator is so nasally she doesn’t change her voice much between characters male or female ect so you can’t tell who’s talking if your not following closely along which you won’t be because it’s boring asf. The story line was good but it lacked good execution.

The Quinton Shifters is a different take on Shifters interacting with humans. I enjoyed the book and really liked Aaron. However his mate was suppose to be this powerful “business” woman but it just fell flat for me. She became just another whiny female all in all. Was happy to see them get their HEA in the end.
In the description of this book, you will see that the wolf shifters have three cardinal rules: 1. Fealty to pack 2. Loyalty to clan 3. Avoid humans This book revolves around rule three and how it could theoretically be breaking either of the other two. Aaron tried to stay away from Michelle, who was supposedly human, but wasn't quite successful. The fact that she was able to get pregnant with a shifter baby confounded everyone. It shouldn't be possible. She couldn't possibly be Aaron's mate, as he claims. At this point an elder from one of the clan's packs shares a story of a researcher's daughter who may have been bit by a werewolf and somehow lived through it, the werewolf's DNA somehow combining with hers. It is possible Michelle is a descendant from this woman. Lo and behold, Michelle does have some wolf shifter genes in her DNA but she cannot shift. So, is she a wolf shifter or not? The older ways say that if you can't shift, you're not a shifter. Modern science is changing that though. The whole thing causes turbulence within the clan (which includes multiple different packs). This turbulence will impact the book of each of the four Tremblay brothers. Aaron's eldest brother, Xander (book 4: Xander's Mate), is also the alpha of their pack and thus has a say in whether or not Michelle counts as a shifter, therefore determining whether or not Aaron technically broke a rule. In the beginning, Xander was very vocal against the idea of Michelle in his efforts to protect his pack and clan. He was definitely swayed upon discovering a secret about his mother.
As all of this is going on Michelle's world was being turned upside down by this new knowledge that creatures thought to be fiction actually exist. At first she was freaked out. After that, she was mad at Aaron for not telling her sooner and insists he stay away and give her time. As it turned out, it wreaks havoc on a male shifter to be away from his pregnant mate. Nonetheless, Aaron gave her the space she needs. Thankfully, with Aaron's keen sense of smell, he was able to scent Michelle's fear in a couple of kidnapping attempts. As it turns out, one of the clan alphas, Jack Diddion had hired rogue shifters to kidnap her so he could experiment on her. In his mind, he is trying to find away to breed shifters with humans (breed, not mate) to get shifter pups. He is not a scientist.
In the end, obviously, everything works out for Michelle and Aaron. Xander comes around and supports his family and the rest of the family embraces Michelle as well. Michelle and Aaron get their HEA, though they will be living in troubling times for a while. The book does not contain a cliffhanger.
While I generally enjoyed the story, I did not enjoy the narrator, Diane Box Worman. This book is produced by HotGhost Productions, which I had never heard of until now. When looking on Audible, the oldest book they've added was posted mid-November 2019. This leads me to believe that maybe they're still building their talent. That being said, Worman's narration of this book was not enjoyable. I found her voice rather nasally, particularly when trying to intone male voices. While male and female voices were different pitches, there wasn't a huge variation among either sex portrayed. On occasion it was difficult to keep track of whose chapter it was (Aaron's or Michelle's), though this seems to be more of a production issue than Worman's issue. I have a huge preference for there to be a corresponding voice to each sex of the protagonists - in this case a male and female. Overall though, I think the voice did detract from the story.

Can Forbidden Love for a Human Woman be Stronger than Loyalty to Clan and Family?
If you enjoy shifter romances, Aaron’s Mate by Abigail Raines is for you. This is a great start to a new series. Her descriptions and character developments are detailed and well crafted.
Aaron is a wolf shifter whose father was the Clan Alpha and his brother is the current Alpha. They are an extremely close-knit family who revere love of family and loyalty to Clan above all else. Aaron is enamored by Michelle who has worked in his office for the past 3 years. She is a talented accountant and a strong willed woman who is determined to work her way up and to be successful on her own merits in the world of business. She finds Aaron, her boss, to be very attractive and he is also drawn to her, the problem is she does not want people to think she “slept her way up the ladder” and he is forbidden to “fraternize with humans”. However, when Michelle landed a “huge” account for the firm Aaron invited her to lunch to celebrate her success. Their attraction to each other swelled to uncontrollable heights and one thing led to another... somehow Michelle ended up pregnant, but it is supposed to be impossible for a shifter to impregnate a human. Aaron must find a way to convince the clan that Michelle is legitimately his mate, but will they accept her or will they eliminate her in order to keep their hidden lives secret from humans? Aaron must find the answer to this mystery before it is too late to save Michelle. In the process clan loyalty and family love and loyalty will be tested. This story is filled with mystery, danger, treachery and of course love, and a few surprising twists. The suspense will keep you turning the pages until the end.
There are some hints that lead to possible events for subsequent books but this is a standalone. I am eagerly awaiting more in this series, and I recommend this book if you enjoy shifter romances. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I live shifter series but I like ones where they are set in the real world. Suzanne Wright's Phoenix pack is the gold standard in shifter books, IMO. This book is atheist set in the real world but the shifter aspect isn't well defined. Do they heal in minutes or hours? Do their clothes stay with them when they change and change back? About all we know about them is what is described in the blurb.
I'm not found of the way their shifter council works, but even with that, there isn't much description.
The book could definitely stand to be steamier. It isn't up to the usual werewolf alpha sex scene standard. And Aaron marks her while they are sitting around talking. While I fins it a bit much that in a lot of shifter series, it HAS to be during sex to take as a mate's mark, it makes sense that wolves would want to incorporate marking into sex but I like that sex isn't a requirement.
Most of my problems with the book would be fixed if it were fleshed out to be a novel instead of novella.
There was a bit about Michelle being accused of sleeping her way to the top. Of course this was not true and it didn't really fit into the flow of the book. It could have been left out and the book would have been better. It seemed like an afterthought.
There are several grammatical errors but not so many it is distracting. The author needs to learn how to properly use personal pronouns (I is not an object). She also needs to learn that "were" is used in the imaginary tense instead of was. (If I WERE ....) There was a third grammar rule she missed but I can't remember what.
I'm going to try another book or two in the series to see if they get any better.
This is the first book in the Quinton Shifters series. Aaron is the youngest of 4 wolf shifter brothers. Their father is the old alpha, and his eldest brother, Xander, is the current alpha. They are a very wealthy family, and Aaron runs an accounting firm. He has been secretly in love with one of his employees, Michelle. She has had the hots for him about just as long. But he knows nothing could come of it as shifter/human pairings are forbidden.
For the most part, I really enjoyed this book - until Michelle found out that Aaron was a shifter. She was a strong, likeable female lead character. She even handled the situation with Aaron well, when she knew something was up, but he wouldn’t tell her anything. That’s why I was confused by her response when he finally told her the truth. She freaks out, tells him she doesn’t want to see him, then asks him to hold her. She then sends him away, but won’t respond to his texts or calls. Anyway, I hate when the MFC freaks out like that. Her inner dialog was much more logical and made more sense.
Without that stupid freakout for a few chapters, I would have given this book 4 stars. I’d still recommend the book, however. Perhaps her behavior won’t bother some readers as much as it bothered me. Besides, I can’t wait to read Micah’s story.
Michelle is a senior accountant along with her boss, Aaron, a manager who has been working with Michelle foe the last 3 yrs or so. He is also a wolf shifter from the illustrious, wealthy Trembley family. Humans do not know there are shifters...especially not in their town. Michelle has had a crush on him for 3yrs and unbeknownst to her Aaron likes her a lot...but shifters being with a human long term is forbidden. He takes her out to lunch after she slam-dunks a big account. He really likes her but says that he can't date/see her because it would be a work impropriety. After one long evenings working on a persnickety client's account, they go to a bar to unwind. they end up buzzed and in bed. Michelle gets pregnant even though according to clan traditions she is not supposed to be able to as a human. This is where the fun starts and it gets interesting. Shifter clans are protective and some do not like humans to know anything. Michelle and Aaron are in for some rude awakenings and shenanigans. This book had a lot of action, twists and emotional roller coaster activities. I loved it!

Aaron's mate is the compelling tale of a werewolf shifter and a human. Aaron, the shifter is attractive, intelligent and emotionally strong. A trifecta not often found in novel heroes. Michelle our human shares the same qualities.
The story revolves around their reaction to each other and the consequences. Aaron has been attracted to Michelle for the 3 years they've worked together. He fights attraction since werewolves are not to get involved with humans to take a mate. Also a werewolve isn't supposed to be able to impregnate a human. Michelle is extremely atacted to Aaron. One night after celebrating the business of a large client they give into the evening of mutual attraction.
The novel takes off from here. Aaron feels Michelle is his intended mate and senses immediately she is carrying his pup. Upon receiving the doctor's confirmation of her pregnancy after demonstrating early signs. She begins her journey Will she keep the child, how will Aaron be involved and how does she really feel about him?
The novel explores the emotional interaction between these two. This is fast, thoughtful and satisfying read.
I received this book as an ARC and posting my unbiased opinion.
Another well crafted story from Abigail Raines. As usual, the characters are well crafted and great start to a new series.
Aaron has been drawn to Michelle ever since she joined the company three years ago, but he can't do anything about it. The company does not approve of dating employees and as the boss he must be above reproach, besides she's human and it's against shifter law to become involved with a human.
Michelle is definitely attracted to her boss and wonders what it would be like to kiss him, but the company prohibits fraternization and she likes her job to much to take the risk.
Then, after Michelle lands a big, lucrative client, Aaron takes her out to lunch to celebrate her success in landing the new client - but the lunch leads to something else. Then, Michelle is pregnant. But humans can't get pregnant from a shifter. What will happen when the Clan finds out he got a human pregnant? They wouldn't termate her, would they?
This was a good, entertaining shifter romance and deserves five stars. If you enjoy shifter romances, this is for you.

INCREDIBLE!!! OMG! Man, talk about one wild rollercoaster ride. A whirlwind of emotions and events that feed from the excitement and nerve racking tension that brings this bad boy roaring to life brilliantly. All the twists and turns, ups and downs, along with a few glitches and bumps here and there pull you deeper into this raging storyline and hard hitting plot. Throw in all the drama, intrigue, uncertainty, fear, danger and suspense and you have one intense, page turning bombshell that grabs your attention and holds it from start to finish. The chemistry between the characters are intense, white hot and explosive. The characters are complex and so believable it feels like you can just reach out and touch them. The scenes are so graphic and detailed it really pulls this bad boy together beautifully. You have no trouble picturing every scenario as it plays out perfectly. Abigail definitely nailed this bad boy 100% on point. Remarkable job Abigail, thanks for sharing this little guy with us.
Aaron’s Mate by Abigail Raines is a well written wolf shifter paranormal romance. Aaron and Michelle ‘s story is a wonderful beginning to what I hope will be a series of books about the Tremblay brothers. I found the background of this shifter community interesting and engaging in its relevance to the plot. All of the characters in this book are fantastic but since Aaron and Michelle are the focus, they were the most interesting and I was immediately smitten with both of them. Their chemistry was palpable and the connection between them undeniable and not to be broken. As far as the male shifters in this book goes, they are equally protective to the point of obsession as they are determined and fierce. Overall, a great beginning to a series I hope to have the pleasure of reading more of. I especially enjoyed the HEA, it was sweet and full of steamy promises.

# Some spoilers Michelle is a hard working woman proving herself and outstanding ability to do her job, in the accounting for managed by Aaron. Romance in the office is never an easy and straight forward wooing, without the "I'm a werewolf, you're a human, your people would slaughter mine again if they knew we existed". The first two pages of this book had me laughing loudly, and it just got better with each chapter. The sex scenes were full of feelings and very informative of who do what, how, and where. I felt for these two starcrossed lovers. Lunas pep talk had me in stiches! (Luna points two fingers at my eyes and back at her own. “Be the ball. You can do it. I believe in you. Get that tax man dick.”) and the comradery and goofiness from the brothers kept the story upbeat and my giggles erupting. This was truly a wonderful start to new favorite series of mine and i will be rereading and waiting impatiently for the next part.

Beckmond, Rivens and Associates is one of the best accounting firms in the Pacific Northwest. It was Michele's aim is to make partner one day if she didn't do something stupid like fall in lust with Aaron, the office manager. But her mind and libido are dueling because as much as she wants Aaron, she wants his respect as an equal in the work place more. Aaron has been fighting his own battle of wills with his wolf for the past three years where Michelle, or Shell as he calls her, is concerned. Him and his wolf are in agreement, they want her but it goes against everything he's been taught. Sex without any type of commitment or strings is the most he can hope for if that's what he decides. I love the way Abigail Raines can write a storyline that is so relatable it just sucks you in. Her characters have strong personalities yet are flawed with insecurities. This book has all that with the underlying plot flowing through. A great read and terrific start to a new series I can't wait to finish. Michelle has had a thing for her boss Aaron for most of the three years they have worked together at their CPA firm.
But a relationship at work.......
The muscle bound man has more than one secret up his sleeve though. He is a wolf shifter, and being together with humans is a no no for his whole regional clan of packs. Of course, he is also the son and brother of a pack alpha.
Sadly for Michelle, once they cross a certain line, and their relationship becomes obvious, she is right that people always look down on the woman in a relationship, making the assumption she slept her way up.
As things develop for the two, relations get dicey with her and his family, pack, and a lone wolf or two linked to another clan.
some fierce connection, fighting, love and loyalty are the only things that can get them through.
a steamy m/f shifter romance.
A sexy story I enjoyed reading on Kindle Unlimited that I honestly enjoyed!
Michelle worked for a CPA Firm and Aaron was her boss. They each have liked the other for a long time but never said anything as it’s against company rules. But Aaron is a wolf shifter and it’s forbidden to be with a human to mate. Also his father and brother are pack alphas and he had to follow the rules. Michelle and Aaron has a client that had a good result and they decide to go to dinner to celebrate. After dinner they agree to have one night together. The next day they try to act as if nothing happened but a couple days later he can tell her scent is different and that she’s pregnant, something that isn’t supposed to happen between a human and a wolf shifter. But he knows she’s his mate and that this is why it happened. Can they convince his family and pack that she is his mate? Plus he has to show her that he’s a shifter and all that it entails.

What an amazing book I read it all in one sitting I just couldn’t put it down, Michelle is a tax accountant and is very good at her job and is moving up the ranks and wants to make partner someday soon but her boss is so distracting and the dirty things she wants to do to him that it’s hard to keep focused. Aaron Tremblay is her boss and he loves everything about Michelle but can never have her it’s not allowed but for one night is ok nothing more, so after taking her to dinner they hook up with the understanding that it doesn’t go any further and Michelle is so ok with that and what a night / morning it was and now they both want more but it carn’t happen. Now everything has changed for them in that one night together, so what happens now you ask ? read this amazing story to find out.

Aaron’s Mate by Abigail Raines is a sweet, tender romance with a bit of action and danger thrown in!!! Aaron is a wolf shifter who has been working with Michelle, a human, for a couple of years now. He’s been drawn to her, but has not acted on any of his feelings because relationships between shifters and humans is strictly forbidden.
The story revolves around this theme. But, there are shadowy figures lurking about and attempting to hurt Michelle whenever she is alone. Additionally, Aaron’s family and pack are trying to get him away from Michelle. They are being fought on every front and any kind of future looks dim.
I very much enjoyed this tender-hearted tale of opposites attracting. I would like to see more stories from Abigail Raines in the future!!!

When is a shifter not a shifter? Well, this story investigates that. Aaron and Michelle have worked together for three years. During that time they have each felt drawn to the other. Aaron has reasons for not pursuing Michelle other than the ‘don’t get involved with work colleagues’ rule that applies. Michelle has worked so hard to get to where she is and will soon make Manager but knows that any relationship with Aaron is not going to work. There are so many emotional ups and downs in their lives. There’s also danger and physical distress- one for each of them. This is such a different view of shifters but also refreshing. I seldom write reviews any more unless, like this book, the story is out of the ordinary. I think Aaron is starting a trend.
Shifter without the Alpha vibe Most shifter stories have big 'alpha' energy with the MMC being aggressive and over the top but Aaron was sweeter and more gentle. Him being the youngest of his brothers made him come across as younger than he actually was, both in the way he was treated and in the way he acted. A lot of the things just worked out for them. No thoughts in my head read.
Engaging storyline with strong characters whose interaction encourages you to keep turning the pages. Aaron and Michelle are attracted to each other but Aaron must try to remember that it is against clan law to become involved with a human. What will happen when they find out that Michelle is pregnant? Will Aaron’s family support them or will they need to go on the run? The Wolf shifter politics seems quite intense at times and there is a twist towards the end, which I must say, I did guess was coming. I enjoyed this story and look forward to learning more about Aaron’s brothers in future books. I received an ARC copy of this book from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
