Anne R. Tan is a USA Today bestselling author. She writes the Raina Sun Mystery series, the Lucy Fong Mystery series, and the Cedar Woods Mystery series. Her humorous cozy mysteries feature Chinese-American amateur sleuths dealing with love, family, and life while solving murders. Her books feature diverse characters and relationships because everyone deserves to be an armchair detective.

A Note from Anne:

My books are my legacy to my children. Unfortunately, they would not grow up in the San Francisco Bay Area like I did. Without a cultural hub to keep the language and philosophies alive, our family would lose this part of our heritage in one generation. My children are visitors to this rich culture, just like my readers. At its core, I always felt Chinese culture is about family and community. I hope you’ll enjoy your time with Raina Sun, Lucy Fong, and their large dynamic family.

Thank you for supporting my art,

Anne R. Tan

What a great addition to the Raina Sun series, one of my favorites. Anne R. Tan is a wonderful writer. Her books are very organized, so they flow and make for an enjoyable read. Her main character of Raina is so interesting. She is an intelligent, curious, respectful and funny young woman. But Ms. Tan has really hooked me with her character of Po Po, Raina’s grandmother. I laughed out loud when I read about the outfits Po Po chose for the convention! She is so unpredictable and fun and she loves her granddaughter very much. All of Ms. Tan’s characters have very different personalities and I love all of them. If you like a good mystery, mixed with laughter, love and a lot of high jinks, then you’d better get this one.

Raina Sun is in Las Vegas, along with PoPo, Raina’s maternal grandmother, and several members of PoPo's posse. Matthew Louie, a police officer and Raina's fiance, has been asked to do an undercover side job while in Las Vegas. The side job involves investigating and developing a plan for an improved security system.

Shortly after arriving, Matthew disappears! Since Raina was not told who Matthew is working for, she presumes it is the hotel/casino where they are staying.
Raina accepts that he has to work, but when she has not heard from him for the last three days, she decides to speak with the hotel/casino General Manager, Willie Machado. Ms. Machado tells her that Matthew is not working for the casino. While Raina and Willie are talking, Willie’s handheld radio announces news of a dead woman in a laundry bag! They soon learn that the woman was the organizer for the Rock and Jam Convention and she was strangled.

Who would kill this woman and why? Was she involved in Matthew’s investigation? If Matthew was not working for the hotel/casino, who was he working for? Where is Matthew? Raina went to Las Vegas hoping that she and Matthew would get married while they were there…will they ever tie the knot?

Anne R. Tan writes wonderfully entertaining books with interesting people, a variety of plots and sub plots, situations that are so believable that you almost feel as though you are standing next to this wonderful, sweet and funny curly-haired Chinese lady

When a Raina Sun adventure shows up. you know something's about to happen that's fun to read and will keep you laughing, as long as it's not happening to you. (Full disclosure, I'm walking around with a giant purple toe from dropping a cheese tray, sadly, I can relate to some of the events in the book.)
When Raina's grandmother Po Po with her, it gets even better. Bring along her grandmother to be, Maggie, and Maggie's secret fiance, along with her seeing eye dog, and you know something strange and hilarious is about to happen. You won't know what, guessing is impossible, but you'll really enjoy finding out.
This time, Raina's adventure is set in Las Vegas, and there's no weirder place on earth. She's there because her fiance, Matthew, set up the group with two suites while he handles a private contracting job. Then, he disappears. Then, of course, a body shows up, and Raina's in the middle of the mess.
My only criticism of the book is that it was too short, and I wanted more. Fortunately, number 9 in the series is coming soon.

Raina Sun, her grandmother, Po Po (Bonnie Wong) and her fiance, Matthew Louie's grandmother, Maggie Louie, have all been invited to a casino in Las Vegas. They all think that Matthew is finally ready to marry Raina. Raina believes Matthew is on a secret security job for the casino and must leave them at the casino alone for a few days. The hotel-casino is hosting a rock and roll convention complete with costumes galore. When Raina awakes to find Claire Boucher, the convention organizer, going through her room and she later turns up dead in a laundry bag, Raina is not sure what is going on. With no communication from Matthew, it is up to Raina and the grandma's to solve the murder, especially when Matthew appears on a security tape with the deceased. Anne Tan has done a great job with all of the wonderful characters in this story. Anne keeps us guessing throughout the story with the outcome.
A must read by cozy mystery lovers!

This is Hazy Grooms and Homicides: A Chinese Cozy Mystery and book 8 of the Raina Sun Mysteries written by Anne R Tan. If you have not yet met Raina and her Grandma Po Po you are sorely missing some great stories! My suggestion is that you turn around and start back on book one! Raina has a nose for trouble and always seems to be right in the middle of the murder scenes, and you can’t help but live her. She only wants to help everyone and honor her family. Now Po Po....she is trouble with a capital T! Lol. Don’t miss a minute of this series! Will Raina find her fiancé in time for the wedding? What exactly is he supposed to be doing at this convention? Don’t miss a minute of Anne R Tan’s five star series!!

Like anything else she writes, this is a minimum two read book! Even if you think you are going to attend to the mystery first, you get all tangled up in the uproarious situational and verbal humor. That PoPo is who I want to be when I grow up--even if I'm not even remotely Chinese! The mystery itself is good with misdirections and red herrings galore. Look to the publisher's blurb for hints. If you've read this author before, you know that you just have to have a copy. And if you haven't, you need to find out what you're missing!

I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
It was a great book !
Raina is in Vegas.
What more could she ask for ?
You add Po Po, and you have a recipe for a hilarious disaster.
Don't forget the murder mystery!
It seems that wherever Raina goes a murder follows, or is it the other way around?
No matter!
Raina is on the case w/ the help of Po Po.
Loved the characters + the storytelling !
It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book!
I can't wait for the next book in this series.

Raina's fiance, Mathew has installed her, her grandmother and his grandmother in two suites of a hotel in Las Vegas whilst he is doing a job. She is hoping that they will end up getting married whilst they are there. There is a Rock and Roll convention being held at the hotel and everything goes topsy turvy when one of the organisers is found murdered. Rains and her grandmother had to get involved in the investigation, in spite of being told not to and find themselves in all sorts of trouble. This is a great addition to this series.

This is the 8th installment of the highly entertaining Raina Sun Mystery series. I found the story to be a bit of a quicker pace than previous installments and it made the story a bit more fun to read. Raina goes to Vegas and hopefully what happened in Vegas doesn't stay in Vegas ;)

I wholeheartedly recommend this series and for optimal reading pleasure start with the first book "Raining Men and Corpses" Buckle your safety belts and enjoy the ride.

I am voluntarily reviewing an ARC from the author.

This is another awesome book in the series. Matthew takes Raina and The Grandma's to Vegas. He has a security job that he is doing for the hotel. Raina tries to get Po Po into the Elvis convention but it's full. Then Matthew disappears and someone is found dead in the laundry room. Po Po suggest they should investigate since they don't have anything to do.
Let the games and fun begin. Po Po is so funny. She's the MacGyver of the older set.
I love this series. I can't wait to see what happens.
I voluntarily agreed to review this book. My review is my own honest opinion.

Nice addition to the Raina Sun Mysteries.

I read all the Raina Sun books and enjoyed everyone of them. I feel Anne is getting better with each book. We see Raina maturing without the loss of closeness to her grandmother. The two of them together might often bring a smile to your face. Looking foward to reading the next book in the series to see how Raina is coping with married live.

Wonderful fun story

The 8th in the series is another great mystery with Raina, Po Po, Mathew, and others in Low Vegas for a wedding, a convention with Rick star cosplay, spies, and murder. With well drawn plot, characters, settings, and humor the book makes a fun read. As usual Po Ok and her posse help Raina solve the case. I highly recommend the story and the series.

LOVE this series! Raina Sun is again pulled into a mystery with the help of the Grandmas and her honey Matthew. Let the ladies loose at a convention in Law Vegas what could possibly go wrong? This is Raina Sun we're talking about here. What happens in Vegas is quite an exciting ride. Thanks again Ms. Tan for giving me a few hours of fun.

Whimsical adventure

This is.
Book 8 of a mystery series and they have just been hysterically funny. I love it. I love the characters. It's great, they deal with everyday life. Families that don't get along get along the love of loyalty, but through the whole thing there's so much laughter and its just hysterical the grandma's!!! Great read 📚

Loved this book!

Raina and her fiance head to Vegas with their grandmothers, ostensibly for a quick side job and a Vegas wedding. But things go wrong from the very start. Murder, theft, and espionage combine in a wonderful storyline. A little mystery, a bit of romance, and some hijinx. Fun read!

Raina Sun goes to Vegas on a business trip with her fiancé Matthew and their Grandmothers. She has hopes of a Vegas elopement which are soon crushed. First, Matthew isn’t heard from in days. In the meantime, a convention organizer sneaks into Raina’s room at night only to turn up dead the next day. Since Matthew is nowhere to be found, Raina and her grandmother, PoPo take the investigation into heir own hands. Why was this woman in their room? How is it all connected to Matthew’s freelance job? Where is he? Will they be able to get married? As always, Raina and PoPo have a lot of laugh out loud moments in this book. There are always adventures when they are investigating a murder. While this book can stand alone, it is a continuation of the Raina Sun mysteries, and a great addition to the story. Can’t wait to see what the next adventure brings.

I have always enjoyed the Raina Sun books and this is no exception. Raina and her 2 grandmothers in Vegas can only mean trouble with a capital T. As always, Po Po is a laugh-a-minute but such an amazing help and resource when Rainer is in trouble or stuck for help - an unlikely but perfectly matched crime solving duo. And you cannot help but love the way both Rainer and Po Po know just how to use their wiles to their advantage, being the bimbolino when it will produce results and Po Po being the terrifying cougar when she needs to be as well!! (The mental image is brilliant) Yes, totally recommended, another fun read.

I received an ARC and this is my honest opinion
