Boston Underworld: The Collection: Books 1-3

Rate this book
The Boston Underworld series box set includes three full-length novels- CROW, REAPER, GHOST.

He’s a killer. A mobster.

The last man on earth I’d ever want to be with. He’s one of the only leads in my best friend’s disappearance, and I don’t trust him.

So I’ve got a few rules in mind when it comes to dealing with Lachlan Crow.

1.Keep a clear head and don’t get distracted.
2.Do what’s necessary and never forget why you’re there.
3.Never, and I mean never, fall for him.

He’s dark and mysterious. Quiet and lethal.
An Irish mobster.
Pure sin wrapped up in a beautiful package.
But there’s also something off about him.
He hasn’t spoken to me in two years. Not a single word.
But we share a secret, he and I.
And if it ever comes out, I have no doubt in my mind…
He won’t have a problem killing me too.

I have always been a bird. Caged by one prison or another when the only thing I ever wanted was to fly away.
Sold. Beaten. Starved. Drugged.
Nothing scares me anymore.
Until him.

Zavarelli spins the tale like an old folklore , who started what gang, who begets who and I'm just standing and staring wide eyed as the events unfold right in front of me. Brutally Raw story of Underground world where Italians , Russia and the Irish divide Boston like a pie , dividing territories, trading traitors, inter marrying for alliances and planting Trolls.
The book gripped me from the word go and it's kept me engrossed throughout . I couldn't look away , even for a second.
after a long time , a true Gritty , Bloody , action packed Mafia story to sink my teeth in has come in my hands .
It's a perfectly written story from start to end, with just the right dosage of drama, angst, steam and danger to make it a churning pot-boiler. Ash has perfected the Irish Crew with one damaged character after another who are sadistic and ruthless when punishing and tender and protective when loving. These men know how to belong and own with the same ferocity and loyalty

this is an overall review for the whole series, cause well, I have read each and every one of the books in it ;)

so here:

I believe that this is a collection of A. Zavarelli's best work to date

I'm not saying this just to say it and throw it out there!

This series is indeed a completion of A. Zavarelli's immense talent, patience and diligent crafting. She's a masterful writer, with an easy flow of storytelling and amazingly intertwined plots filled with tension, action and steam. Her alpha characters are complex and undeniably intriguing, lingering somewhere between good and bad, there's a spheer of psychological gray and her characters simply deliver, each and every time.

Go, meet the Boston Underworld mafia men (Crow, Reaper, Ghost, Saint, Thief, Conor) and be prepared for the journey aof a life time ;)

p.s. Crow is still my favorite Irish mobsta out there!

The following is my review for the complete Boston Underworld series box set includes six full-length novels- CROW, REAPER, GHOST, SAINT, THIEF, CONOR. A. Zavarelli was a new-to-me author when I started this series. I have since become a huge fan! If you love alpha mobster men and strong women, hot sexy scenes with a touch of delicious darkness, then this series is for you! Each book gets better and better and better!

Crow (Boston Underworld, #1)

Family. Loyalty. Honor. Blood.

Crow is book #1 of the Boston Underworld series. There are big and small players in this syndicate. The Irish and the Russians are the powerhouses. The Italians and the Armenians are also in the mix.

That’s the thing about organized crime, it never really goes away. When one power house falls, there will always be other players ready to step up and take the reins.

Mackenzie Wilder doesn’t have much in life except for her two close friends, Talia and Scarlett. They grew up in foster care together and always had each other’s backs. When Talia goes missing Mackenzie goes on a mission to find her. She can’t stand the idea of her being forgotten or hurt. Even if it is to get closure. Mackenzie sets out to find her answers by getting a job at “Slainte” the local mobster bar/club and infiltrate the Irish mob. She is trying to get information on the whereabouts of her best friend and of other possible missing girls.

I feel too much. But you wouldn’t know that about me. Nobody does. Because I’m always in control.

Lachlan Crow is third in line for the throne of the Irish underworld and his reputation speaks for itself. This title comes with many strings and arrangements. Lachlan runs Slainte. Mackenzie has caught Lachlan’s eye but that may not be a good thing….

Hell on wheels. He’ll kill you and do it with a smile on his face.

I loved both of the lead characters. Mackenzie is loyal and strong, almost sacrificially so. She is also resilient. Lachlan Lachlin Lachlin. Hot, alpha, bossy. He too is loyal and even though his trust is hard to come by he looks at every angle before striking.

It pains me to admit it, but he is handsome. He’s also more reserved than I expected. A calm façade to accompany his quiet broodiness. It’s a complete contradiction to the killer I know he is.

The wheels are set in motion. Expectations, motivations, and…rats. Lives are at risk. I found this story fast paced and a page turner! What could possibly happen next????

Reaper (Boston Underworld, #2)

He’s a mixture of brutal and sensual. Sweet and hard. Rough and thoughtful.

Reaper is book #2 of the Boston Underworld series. It is a stand-alone and can be read as such. I had no problem following the story.

What can I say about Reaper? I loved it!!! We meet Ronan Fitzpatrick in book #1 Crow. Ronan is Lachlan's (Crow’s) best friend and second in command of the Irish syndicate. He is also known as the Reaper. The name speaks for itself. He is Quiet. Dark. Deadly. Mysterious. I fell in love with Ronan! His layers are peeled away. One by one the mystery of the Reaper is laid out. We learn about his past. What is really underneath this man? How did he become so feared?

I’ve been called a sociopath. A monster. But I don’t fancy myself one. I’m simply a man doing a job that needs to be done.

Ronan Fitzpatrick was taken from his parents and raised to be a killer at an early age. Now an adult, this leaves him knowing almost nothing about love, affection and human emotions. Reading the flashbacks of his upbringing was raw and uncomfortable. He also has quirks. He needs order and timeliness.

We met Sasha Varela in Crow. She has had a difficult life and has had to make certain choices to protect her family. She is a stripper at Slainte, the locally owned “mob” club. Due to her circumstances, Sasha feels tarnished, sullied, and unclean.

Damaged souls have their own beauty. A dark, terrifying beauty. The same type of beauty I recognize in Ronan.

I loved their story. There is this thread or connection between Sasha and Ronan, linking them together in an invisible way. I loved how accepting Sasha was of Ronan’s quirks and antisocial behaviors. How she peeled away the layers to see the man underneath.

I can no longer deny that we are connected on some strange level. And I know I can’t be the only one who feels it.

What more can I say about Ronan…. I was just overwhelmed at times with his story. It broke my heart watching Ronan try to understand basic human emotions. He even feels insecure at times about his ability to be around others without being “a monster.” The way he discovers new things from something as simple as food….brilliantly written! The characters are complex, the emotions are high and the chemistry is hot!

He isn’t at all sweet. But if I wanted sugar, I’d eat a fucking cupcake.

I also must give props to “Daisy” the dog. The scenes with Daisy and Ronan were great! I am really enjoying the Boston Underworld series! Next is Alexi & Talia’s story!

“Always you. Only you, Ronan.”

Ghost (Boston Underworld, #3)

Ghost is book #3 of the Boston Boston Underworld series. It is a stand-alone and can be read as such. I had no problem following the story. The previous two books focus on the Irish mob with mentions of the Russians. Ghost is heavily saturated with the “Vory” or Russian mob/brotherhood.

This is Alexei & Talia’s story and it is not pretty. To understand it and for review purposes I will give a brief synopsis of Crow (book #1). In Crow (Book #1), Mack is trying to find her friend Talia who has disappeared. Mack tries to infiltrate the Irish Mob syndicate for information on her friend’s whereabouts. Slante is a club that Talia worked in, so Mack starts there. Mack meets the owner of Slante, Lachlan, and eventually, he agrees to help her. He enlists the services of Russian “Vory” mobster Alexei and she is found. She had been sold, beaten. Starved, and drugged.

Alexei is a very reclusive and mysterious man. He is high ranking in the Vory. He has memorized Talia’s picture while trying to find her…..

“My skills are unique. Forged over a lifetime of dedication and hard work. It is not talent. It is not luck. It is nothing less than perseverance that makes me the best at what I do.”

Talia is rescued but faces a long road to recovery. She is staying with Alexei during her recovery. Alexei is so strong and patient with her. He will not allow her to destroy herself.

“You can’t destroy what’s already broken.”

Alexei & Talia’s story is not nice and it is not pretty. A. Zavarelli does an amazing job of bringing these two broken hearts together and mending them. Although the content is dark, I found myself impatient to read each chapter and see things through til the end.

“I want you to know the level of my devotion to you,” he states. “I don’t ever want you to question it. The things I have and will continue to do to protect you. To avenge you. They are dark things. But that darkness is my burden to carry, and it always will be.”

Next up is Thief, and I must say my favorite story in the series!

Saint (Boston Underworld, #4)

Saint is book #4 of the Boston Boston Underworld series. It is a stand-alone and can be read as such. I had no problem following the story. Saint follows a path unlike Crow (book #1) and Reaper (book #2). Our hero – Rory – is often referred to as “Saint.” And believe me, he has the patience of a saint when dealing with Scarlett. But there is so much more to Rory….

I’m a fighter. A hustler. A mobster.

The heroine (or anti-hero) – Scarlett - has had many terrible things happen in her life which causes her to be the way she is. The story unfolds and we learn of some heinous things that she has had to endure.

Her beauty is as subtle as a grenade.
She’s feminine. Inviting. And no doubt deadly as hell.

Rory and Scarlett’s story was very raw. There are no hearts and flowers here. They are both survivors. Rory is very patient as he tries to convince Scarlett to give him a chance. Scarlett is in a league of her own. Trust is very difficult if not impossible to gain with Scarlett. In the Irish syndicate there is respect and support. Family is important. Family is everything.

I felt as though this was definitely one of the darkest books in this series. There is a lot of bloodshed. There are a lot of difficult situations. Because of that there are parts of the story that must be told. I will say it was not one of my favorites in the series. But as I said above there are parts that must be told. I have loved this series so far and I highly recommend it!

Rory isn’t flat like me.
He’s all jagged edges and soft corners. A contradiction of dark masculinity and soft humor. But inside, he feels.

Thief (Boston Underworld, #5)

Thief is book #5 in the Boston Underworld series. It is a stand-alone and can be read as such. I have not read any of the other books in this series but I was able to follow the story without any problem.

Tanaka Valentini is the daughter of Italian mob boss Maneul Valentini. She is obedient but fierce. She lives in a world full of tradition and violence. All of her life she has been raised/trained to become a Mafia wife. To marry an Italian man. It was arranged by her father long ago. Her only joy is ballet. It is her passion, her only outlet in her lonely world. She has studied hard and has taken a spot in the New York City Ballet Company.

….That’s what I’ve been preparing for. My entire life. I’ve been sheltered. Schooled at home. Forbidden from having friends or leaving the house.

….My father arranged my marriage, and it was set in stone.

Nikolai Kozlov is Russian Mafia, loyal to the Vory Brotherhood. He is a thief, an artist, a complicated man. Manuel Valentini owes a debt to him. One he cannot pay. Manuel offers his daughter, Tanaka as collateral for his debt.

The story unfolds beautifully. There is so much emotion expressed. Tanaka and Nikoli have undeniable chemistry. The push and pull is amazing. Tanaka is determined to fulfill her duty to stay pure so that she may marry an Italian Mafia man. Nikolai knows that he must stay within his culture as well. He must protect the brotherhood and live by the Vory code. But fate has other plans. Nikolai’s behavior is infuriating at times and then he is thoughtful and protective. He manipulates, he takes.

"The thief stole my heart, only to hold it in the palm of his hand, extorting my affections when it suits him."

The writing is fantastic. It is descriptive and flows from page to page. It kept me on the edge of my seat. I could not see a way out for either Tanaka or Nikolai. And then comes a twist or two. It takes you to places that you do not expect. The story was dark, raw and sensual. As I said above, Tanaka and Nikolai have an undeniable, explosive chemistry. One that cannot be denied!

“You are so lovely. So soft and sweet and pure. I want to ruin you.”

Conor (Boston Underworld, #5)

Marry him or lose my life.

Conor is book #6 of the Boston Boston Underworld series. It is a stand-alone novella and can be read as such. I had no problem following the story. I started the Boston Boston Underworld series at book #5, Thief. I fell in love and quickly went back, reading the series from the beginning. Each book is unique in their own way and some are darker than others. Conor stole my heart! I read this in one sitting!

We met Conor in Crow. He is the rookie and still feels like he needs to prove himself.

Sometimes it’s a pain in the arse being the rookie, but even if it takes a lifetime, I’m willing to prove myself to the brotherhood.

Squeee! This story! So beautifully written! I love how it was written with an Irish dialect. Conor and Ivy’s story is filled with emotion, some angst and just a touch of dark. Crow asks Conor to keep watch on Ivy, the 'girlfriend' of a rival mobster, and a potential witness to his death.

“I need ye to keep an eye on her. Find out everything ye can about her and what she knows, and don’t let her out of your sight.”

Conor and Ivy have a lot in common. Both have been caught in the crossfire of the Irish Syndicate mob. Ivy is so fragile, hanging on for dear life at times. But she is also strong and determined. And Conor! He has many sides to him. He struggles with his past, his pride and his purpose. He does not want to appear weak.

The little birdie is young, probably in her early twenties like me.

The attraction between them is there. A chemistry, a pull. Both are quick to deny it. Their attraction and affection grow and passion takes over. Ivy has wound her way into Conor’s heart! There is also a wee bit of baggage that Ivy has. This changes the way Conor sees her and he steps up in the most heartwarming and honorable way! I also love the terms of endearment that he uses for Ivy.

He wants me to come out and say it, like I’ve caught feelings for this bird or something.

We are treated to scenes with Crow, Rory and Fitzy and it made me want to go back and read their stories all over again! Ashleigh Zavarelli makes us fall head over heels in love with Conor and Ivy! Their emotions, their conflicts, their decisions all flowed and connected their story. I have loved this series and I am sad to see it end! I highly recommend Conor as well as the entire Boston Boston Underworld series!

5 stars!

The Boys of The Boston Underworld hold my heart!!! Miss Zavarelli's character building and storytelling abilities are extraordinary! The emotion and empathy that I experienced reading this series was heart stopping! I am a committed fan to her work!

CROW: The Boss! My main man!! Dark, dangerous, and incredibly sexy with an Irish accent to make your panties melt! When a dancer gets caught in Lachlan’s sights, he corners her and she comes out swinging.

REAPER: He is a trained lethal soldier and programmed to do one thing -> KILL. His upbringing is nothing short of horrific and void of any emotion other than the rage that consumes him. But he is so much more than an executioner, he is a PROTECTOR.

GHOST: Alexei is strong, silent, and stealthy. But he is a man with a weakness, that has been cast away. He has fought hard to achieve and overcome this vulnerability. If it were disclosed, it would cost him his stature within the Red Mafia.

SAINT: The story of Rory and Scarlett screams everything mafia! Revenge, romance, murder, the syndicate brotherhood, and an alpha male hell bent on taking care of his woman.

THIEF: Nikolai is a thief, a thief who steals valuable things and his inamorata. Tanaka was not to become anything more than a toy to be played with, broken and sent back home. Collateral and compensation for acts committed by her father. But the desire that sparks between the two is detonating and unstable. The stars aren’t in their favor and nothing but tragedy can come of their union. Like the thief that Nikolai is, Ashleigh too has stolen my heart with this story.

CONOR: I loved both Conor and Ivy’s characters. They were perfectly suited for each other. Ivy is a survivor. She will do whatever it takes to function or thrive in spite of misfortune. Conor is loyal, has integrity, and the tenderness he shows to Ivy and Archer is so tangible that it pulls at your heartstrings. Their biggest adversity is their uncertainty and inability to be vulnerable and honest to themselves and each other.

Boston Underworld The Collection
A.Zavarelli

Crow – Book 1

Crow, is yet another crazy mind bender bought to you by A Zavarelli. Her knack for whacked out characters blows my mind, and here is another for her collection. Crow is an underworld drama/ thriller with erotic undertones I guess I would say, but certainly not a book to be read on a lazy afternoon. This is a take all, including all of your time, emotions and attention.

Mackenzie, is a bass ass fighter, bought up to be able to look after herself. When her daddy died she lived the hard life on the streets. Now she finds herself heading into Boston's underworld to find her best friend. When Talia went missing, Mack soon realised she couldn't rely on the police to find her. The Mafia and cartels are to big for them, but mad Mack won't be stopped by them.

Heading in she knows she must find a man to take her in so in a fight to end all fights she knocks out one if their own and attracts Lachlan Crow. Lachlan is the man everyone looks up to, he is the leader of the McKenna syndicate and he is the one taken by Mackenzie butterfly Wilder. Soon after the fight, Mack is taken in litterally by Lachlan, and soon she discovers finding Talia may not be the only thing she gets out of the underworld.

Very quickly Mack is thrown into a world way out if her depths, and falling for a kingpin of the underworld was also not on the agenda, but when a man like Lachlan Crow shows interest, you pay attention. He wants to take down smart ass pain Mack, but not with murder... Falling for crow was never in the plan, but when she starts to interfere in the running of things, her life becomes a problem that needs to be removed. Will she turn out like Talia, or will Lachlan go against his family for a woman he shouldn't love?

Taken from both Mackenzie and Lachlan 's POV, we get a look into both of their perspectives of life, live and family. But for 2 pig headed hot heads, this will always end in gunfire. Just who makes it out is the question.

Reaper – Book 2

How does one review a book that has such a impact on life itself? Reaper is all kind of dark, violent, disturbing but really messes with your mind. Ashleigh Zavarelli is all kinds of weird and I absolutely love her for it. She makes you question everything you think you know and read... I can only imagine what her Google history must look like after writing Crow and Reaper!

The master of mystery - Ronan Fitzgerald aka Reaper, had had the hardest of lives. As a child he was tortured beyond anything I could possibly imagine and now as an adult he is number 2 to Lachlan Crow in the mafia wars of Ireland's underground. He has no feelings and shows no interest in other people, except for Sasha. She and Ronan share a huge secret but what she doesn't know is Ronan is constantly watching her.

Sasha, is pretty much over life itself, her mother is in death's door and she is buring more than a dancer at a strip club. a whore for men to use, and if she's smart she keeps her mouth shut about it. But for Sasha it is the Reaper who fills her days and nights. His attention, yet ignorance of her keeps her on edge.

As the pair come together with a devistating secret they soon discover the need for each other. But with Ronan's past, Sasha is left feeling more and more last out. His constant use of her body then leaving without a word slowly breaks her down.

So when they are both put in danger it is now Ronan must step up and devote himself to Sasha or prepare for her to leave him forever.

This book must come with a warning or violence and pretty much hatred towards women, but it is amazingly written with loveable characters along with so many twists and turns every page.

Ghost – Book 3
A Zavarelli
4.5 Underworld mafia stars

Ashley Zavarelli - what can I say, her writing never cease to amaze me. So dark and dangerous I find myself taking huge deep breathes to calm my rapid breathing. Ghost is book 3 in the Boston underworld series, and although each book is about its own characters, the history of the previous stories really put it all together. I always struggle with writing reviews when it comes to this series, as I’m a mafia virgin, I know nothing about it, the men and women who rule and the obvious family histories that clearly play a major role in everything about the book.

For Talia , leaving Slainte with her apparent boyfriend was perfect, he would never hurt her and she would live a much better life than dancing for Mafia men. That is until she wakes up, tied to a bed where she us brutally raped and beaten after being sold to an arms dealer as a slave. Her life pretty much can't get much worse.... But when she is given to another man in payment for a late shipment her world will change again.

Alexei Nikolaev has been sent to find and retrieve Talia, but what he finds is so much worse than he expected. Talia is bloodied and beaten but this should not affect him in anyway. He is part of Boston’s mafia group. As a Vory he is lives by their code. But for Talia, extracting her from Arman ‘s clutches should be enough. Alexei has his own demons and it will be Talia who “fixes” him. As perfectly said in the books blurb:
“She thinks she has me fooled by her haunted eyes.
What she can’t know is that I see her better than most.
She wants to fly.
But I’m going to clip her wings.
And make her my wife.”

When Alexei returns to Boston with Talia he is ridiculed by his fellow Vory, he should have the best bred wife , not a worthless whore. Talia struggles with everything, from being locked up, but free to roam his home, full meals and a housekeeper who you can only love. It us Magda who helps Talia with daily routine, but with bigger demons, she is hell bent on destroying herself with pain... whether it be a smashed mirror or a jump from a roof. She craves that pain to continue on with Alexei’s plan.

As the pair give into the sex, there are feelings. Talia is petrified, Alexei is dangerous, like all the other mafia men and his hell bent target of having Talia pregnant brings more feelings . Through a dark, dangerous, demeaning run through life they both will overcome more barriers than any person should have to. 2 unlikely people, a world of struggle and an ending that will have you gasping for air.
Do yourself a favour, and one click this book along with Crow and Reaper. You certainly will not be disappointed, I haven’t been.

Saint – Book 4
A Zavarelli
4.5 these mafia man make me want to turn bad stars.

Well I cant say this enough, if you are looking for sweet romance Saint and the rest of the Boston underworld series is definitely not for you, but if you love super strong leads, alpha males, some serious blood and gore and serious hot sex then get your ass into gear and read all of this series. I have been fortunate enough to read all of A’s work and just when I think she can’t get any darker she continues to blow me away. Each individual book in this series focus’ on one main male and female, Saint is Rory and Scarlett’s story. As with the previous stories, they both come from messed up backgrounds and have come to the underground for their own reasons, but that doesn’t stop the intertwining of their relationship. Each character is special for their own reason and A breaks them down perfectly. No hearts and flowers here – nope, unless you class the hearts they tear out or flowers that are stomped on in the process.

Scarlett is the proverbial silver spoon child, she had everything, money, the best education, the popular boyfriend , the overly disapproving mother, but everything went to hell the night of initiation at college. Now she is a psycho of the underworld, and those at fault that fateful night are top of her hit list. She is no shrinking violet, Scarlett is a top notch evil player. She can carve, stab at shoot like any man. But what she discovers is that the one she needs to bring that group down is another man she should despise, but doesn’t. She is going to have to trust Rory aka Saint to help her bring the ultimate justice.

Rory Brodrick has had his fair share of women, being a friend to the boss makes him easy pickings for the girls on parade, he sticks to blondes because there is only one brunette that has caught him up. After the previous meeting and apparent kidnapping, Rory can’t believe Scarlett is back, and needing his help. Help he is happy to give, but it comes with consequences, everything in Scarlett’s world is her rules.... Simple, but she has met her match with Saint. She needs his help, she will have to open up to him, making her vulnerable. Giving him everything will break down everything she has worked to keep behind the iron clad walls of her heart.

Together they are explosive, both physically and sexually, but when her past comes back with his own demands Scarlett will have to tell Rory everything. Rory will discover the woman he thought he knew has a complete other dark side, not the princess he expects. And the hate Scarlett thought she had towards Saint turns to something completely opposite, she finds under the tough fighting exterior is a man whom loves her... but with a past like her will she ever be able to love him back. Not only together but with the mafia family, they will do everything in their power to break Scarlett from the evil bounds bought onto her by a past she can’t walk away from.

Although very dark, and with a lot of violence, this story has some serious emotional components. Another fantastic read from A Zavarelli, as I had always expected.

Thief
Book - 5
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Oh. My. God. Every book I say, how does Ms Zavarelli continue with the screwed up mess that is the character's of the Boston Underworld. There has never been a sweet male in each of these books. They are Vory Brothers, and nothing will come between any of them. These stories are heart racing, gaspingly good. They are gory, rough, rude but unforgettable.

In previous stories, we have seen how the women feel in the Vory men, most use and abuse women, they are just subjects, something to screw, but for the lucky ones they find their forever’s in a race of epic proportions.

This time it's Nikolai Kozlov, to be centre attention. He's horribly brutal, but I couldn't help but fall for him. With debts owing taking a daughter should have been easy, but what Nikolai didn't expect was a badly broken young woman. Tanaka Valentini is gorgeous, has a smart mouth, and has no problem serving it up to Niko. With an abusive father comes an attitude to win or lose everything. She has come from a very tough life, so seeing Nik in his element, should scare her. It doesn't, it pushes her to get what she wants.

These two will clash massively, but with that comes the realism that they need each other. It won't be sweet, it won't be pretty. It will keep you up at night, have you gasping, and routing for them. But rules are rules, and Vory – Well they make their own.... This is a must read series.

Conor
Boston – Book 6

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌟

I’m not sure I’ve ever read a series like the Boston Underworld series. It is strange that a book can be so brutal yet so sweet. The men of the Mafia are family, and that means if you find a woman she becomes yours. In previous stories other men and found there crazy love , and this time it’s Conor’s turn. In the most roundabout of ways.

Ivy is in the run from the Loco’s, another Underworld group, but when she shows up at Slainte looking for a job, Conor is taken by her at first sight. It doesn’t take long for him To lay claim to Ivy, nit knowing that she’s also has a son. Conor’s crazy world is about to be turned upside down. Marrying her, claiming her, keeping her safe, means feelings are books get forward. While foreign to Conor, Ivy has always wanted this… love, respect, safety…. She’ll get it but not before seeing things no one should have to live through.

In he final book of this series, Ms Zavarelli pulls ever last string of awsomeness. If you haven’t read this series, start now. All bad boys, and good girls with huge attitudes create an amazing journey into the Boston Underworld.

This is a great collection of mafia stories! Below is my revire for each one

Crow:

I enjoyed Crow much more than I thought I would. Even though I haven't read many Mafia/Mob stories I always think eh when I see them. Why? It is just not something I am really interested in. This is the second mafia book I have read and really enjoyed so maybe I should broaden my horizons more. We shall see.

Crow is the story of Mack and Lachlan. Mack who thinks she's this tough, street smart kid who knows everything and Lachlan who is high up in the Irish Mafia. Lachlan who is her way in to try and find her missing friend. Oh Mack. She came across as so incredibly young and naive. Like she hadn't lived on the streets for a few years. Like she didn't know how things worked. She has this plan to infiltrate the mob and find out what happened to her friend, but the way she goes about it is so incredibly stupid. She thinks Lachlan got to be where he is by fawning all over some tits and ass. Like she just has to shake her stuff and he will let her do whatever she wants. It seemed incredibly naive. Like they are not just going to let anyone in. I am sure Lachlan could hook up with whoever he wanted so why would he just go stupid over you? I cannot imagine that is how the high ups in the mafia world got to where they are. Lucky for Mack there are other things in play, namely Lach has to handle her for now, because without that? I think she would be up the creek without a paddle. Her "plan" was so naive and so laughably bad I thought without the addition of the Russians wanting her and Lach having to watch her storyline she would have been dead. It was all really stupid and in direct contrast to how her character thinks of herself. I can't imagine how she has survived as long as she has. She says what she wants and has no filter. She just tells Lachlan early on she knows exactly who he is and all his business which....really doesn't seem smart. I know she wants to find her friend, but you are supposed to be tougher than this. You are supposed to be smarter than you are. Have the streets taught you nothing? She just comes off as a naive little girl playing at things that she knows nothing about.

Luckily I still liked Mack. The way she was written, while it could have been really annoying, was alright to read. Yes, she is stupid at times, but it was okay. As the story progresses we keep getting scenes where she realizes she is not as tough as she thought. How her pride always told her one thing, she was too proud to need anything or anyone, when really she is not cut out for this. She does need other people. Without those scenes maybe I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much, but at least at times she realizes that she is in a bit over her head.

Now Lachlan was awesome. I loved him. He is very cold and doesn't trust easily, but there is just something about Mack. He has never wanted to settle down with one woman or anything like that, never wanted kids and such, but Mack slowly worms her way into his heart. I loved him. I loved seeing how possessive he was over her and watching him try and deal with her childish ideas. He was awesome. You can see how much he cares even if he doesn't want to. Of course both of them have secrets, things that will hurt the other when they find out, but they were cute together.

There is a lot going on in this story. The Mafia world is not very stable at the moment, there are some moles in the mix, and a lot of violence as a result, but I really enjoyed the story. I think Lachlan was what really sold it to me. He is the kind of guy I love reading. The last parts were a bit heartbreaking at times, but oh these two. So this was a really good read. I enjoyed the story even if Mack was a naive little girl. Lachlan made up for it.

Reaper:

Reaper was amazing! I loved this story so so much! I have been on a roll recently reading amazing books and this was another one to add to the list. Oh, I loved Ronan! He was the best!

Ronan and Sasha have a secret. Something happened two years ago and if anyone found out if could be bad for both of them. Plus now Sasha thinks Ronan hates her since he won't talk to her. Not that he talks a lot, but he will occasionally say something to everyone but her. She has a lot on her plate and dealing with Mister silent sexy guy is just another thing to add to the list. Her mom is sick and dying, her sister hates her, she has been through more than someone should have to go through to keep her family safe, but they will never know. She was wonderful and gave up so much for those she loved. As soon as her mom passes she wants out. She wants to get far away from the Irish Mob as she can. She can't stay here...can she?

Ronan had an absolutely horrific childhood. He doesn't really know things most other people do. He is not at all experienced with women, he doesn't do well with emotions, he is great when someone tells him what to do, but if he has to figure it out himself he won't. I loved him so so much. He was...I loved how he wanted to understand things, but he just didn't. Like he gets a dog at one point and he has to take care of it. Only he doesn't know how. Someone tells him the dog is hungry at one point so now whenever he sees the dog do the same thing he thinks it is hungry. So he feeds the dog. Only she also wants love and attention. She liked Ronan and oh it was adorable! Him learning to be more human, the normal things we all take for granted, made me swoon.

Because of his dark past Ronan doesn't speak much. He also doesn't trust easily and he doesn't like people touching him. He is the guy the mob turns to to kill people and get information from. He doesn't mind doing it, but once he meets Sasha he thinks he can never be with her since she would hate what he does and who he is. These two don't talk much, but they both like the other. There is something there between them and if they could figure out how to communicate they might be able to figure this all out.

I loved this story. I cannot say enough good things about it. Ronan and Sasha were wonderful together. She doesn't judge him for the things he does/who he is and he always is there to try and protect her. Oh, Ronan, you stole my heart. Through the ups and the downs these two try and fight their way through. It was wonderful. Go. Read this story. it is amazing.

Ghost:

Ghost was a fun read. I love this author's dark mafia books, Reaper has been my favorite so far, but I really enjoyed Ghost as well. I don't know what it is about these mafia guys I love so much.

Alexei is not someone you want to mess with. He will do whatever he needs to to get what he wants. But he is also a really great guy and wonderful if you have him on your side. He keeps to himself and is not the most outgoing, but he does what he needs to to get things done.

Talia has been kidnapped and beaten and raped and everything terrible you can imagine. She is being held captive and has given up. She doesn't want to live anymore. There is no more fight and fire in her. She has been trying to find a way to kill herself for a while now and she has a plan. A good plan. And it is almost time to put that plan into action. Then she can finally leave this life of pain and suffering and horror. Only Alexei shows up and saves her even though she doesn't want to be saved.

Alexei takes Talia back to his place and is determined to keep her safe now. Plus use her to help himself out of a situation that he wants out of. The two of them don't have the best of starts, Talia is really far gone when he shows up, but slowly but surely she starts to come back to life. She is not the same person she used to be, I don't think anyone could be after everything she went through, but she is starting to come around to living again. She doesn't want to, but she starts falling for Alexei. And he never expected to fall for her either. The two of them were so perfect together! I loved them. Alexei especially as he was wonderful with Talia. Yes, this story is dark. Yes it is not sunshine and roses, but you can see how they care about each other. How Alexei would do anything for Talia. There is a lot of mafia politics going on, lots of players in motion, and that causes some not so good times, but it was awesome to watch.

This book was another great read in this series. Only one more to go. I can't wait to see what Saint has in store for me!

Thief:

Oh man since reading Ghost I have been waiting to read Alexei's brothers story, and now it's here! I was so so excited to read this one and it did not disappoint!

Nikolai is Alexei's brother. Though most people don't know that. He is the one whom their father paid attention to, but that might not be a good thing. Because their father is not a good person. But Nikolai is a good soldier and does what he needs to do for the brotherhood.

Tanaka is a dancer. A ballerina. It is what she lives for. It is the only things she has really and she will not give up, even when she gets injured and it looks like she will no longer be able to dance. She is determined to make it work and do it because she can't imagine her life without dancing.

When Nikolai takes Tanaka to put some pressure on her father neither of them expected to fall for the other. I loved how these two are together. Nikolai tries to not feel for Tanaka because even if he does that doesn't change anything. He can't be with her because he has responsibilities to other people. It could never work. They are destined to not be together. But that doesn't mean that he will let Tanaka not take care of herself. I loved how he was willing to do whatever he needs to keep her safe and healthy.

And Tanaka is stubborn and strong and wonderful. Sure she has some issues, but I loved how determined she was. When she set her mind to something she will do anything to achieve it. Which is not necessarily always a good thing, but they way she grew up you can't really fault her for having issues. Still, they don't break her. She was amazing.

The two of them together, Nikolai and Tanaka, were wonderful. I know they are not fated to be together, but you never know what will happen. It was a great read and sad that it is the last book in the series. At least I can go back and re-read my mafia boys.

Conor:

Conor was a fun, quick read. If you have read the prior books in the Boston Underworld series and enjoyed them then this will be a great addition. If not, they can be read in any order so go ahead and jump right on in.

Conor was taken in by Crow and the Irish Mob when he was young and has been trying to make sure he proves himself every day. He would do anything for Crow and crew as they are his family.

Ivy saw some things she shouldn't have and is trying to hide out from a rival gang. If she can just make a little bit of money at the strip club the Irish Mob owns then she can get out of here and leave this mess behind. She just needs a little time and for no one to find her.

When Conor is tasked with finding out what Ivy knows about the things she saw, if she saw them. he doesn't expect to fall for her. He doesn't expect to want to keep her safe and the only way to do that is to marry her. While they might have started as a marriage of convenience, so Ivy stays safe and Conor doesn't have to do something he doesn't want to, it doesn't stay that was. It was cute watching these two try and work everything out. Ivy doesn't want to be a part of this world, with good reason, but there is just something there with Conor. So what happens when she falls for him for real? It was fun to watch. I really enjoy this whole series and this was a great addition.

This is a wonderful look into the Irish Underworld. A. Zavarelli has done a fantastic job bringing us the stories behind all the men in this mafia series.

Crow
This is my first book by A. Zavarelli and it wont be the last!!! Holy Hotness, someone please spray me with some Irish cool me down!!!
Lachlan, the uber bad ass mafia man...
Mack, the awesome friend, bad ass, take no crap from anyone...

Mack's best friend Talia has gone missing... What's a best friend to do? Go undercover as an individual at the bar she last worked at...hoping to talk to some of the other dancers to get the inside scoop. What happens though, after a super HOT audition, she starts to feel, she has desires, she realizes what it is that is missing in her life....

Can these 2 survive when everything seems to be going against them?

Absolutely a PAGE Turner!!!! Cant wait to dive into book 2. Although this book can be read as a standalone, why would you want to stop

Reaper
Ronan aka Reaper is one tough mafia man. This book told us how a killer is created and what a story it is. At just 8 years old, Ronan was being trained to become a killer in a man's body. This man who now is grown up and trying to survive in the only world he knows...the mafia family that is his only true family.
This story is one full of angst, dark elements, torture, family, love and last but not least...a freaking CORGI!!!

Loved this book and definitely look forward to reading more!!!

Ghost

I remember picking up Crow by a new to me author and saying gosh that was good, then I read Reaper and said this was really good...Now I've read Ghost and OMG, it was Outstanding!!! Flowed Perfectly, twist and turns, revenge, raw, gritty and exceptionally written. A. Zavarelli is a author who has made it to my no questions asked, one click her book.

This is a page turning book about Talia and Alexei. Both with extremely bad childhood stories and both who are still suffering after all these years. Talia from her being trained, sold and treated like a animal. Alexi, hiding behind his secret and a father who never has wanted him as a son...

This book will have you hooked from the beginning to the end!

Saint
The bigger the man, the bigger the ego. Or is it the bigger the bank account, the bigger the ego?

Scarlett is seeking revenge and will stop at nothing till it is found. She has built a wall around her heart and has no feelings towards anyone. No friend, no boyfriend, nobody…. Why is it then that The Saint, keeps messing up her plans?

Rory he just can’t get her out of his head…Satan herself has gone and left an impression with him that he can’t let go… He will stop at nothing to help this messed up girl. His ‘family’ has warned him but there is no stopping the way he feels for Satan.

Absolutely love the way that Ashleigh Zavarelli has brought this family to us in The Boston Underworld Series. Each book is about the same ‘family’ but totally different. Showing us that each member deserves to have his story told! This one is no different, page turner from the get go.
Thief
The finale of the Boston Underworld Series, a series that A. Zavarelli nailed! This is the story of Nikolai and Tanaka, the Russian Mafia man and the Ballerina.

Once the Ballerina is in his possession, the tables turn.

While Nikolai a Russian, it’s in the Vory beliefs he must marry a Russian. But this Italian Mafia princess is making Nikolai question his beliefs.

There are reasons behind Nikolai obtaining Tanaka and building a relationship with her is not in the books. This is not a typical romance story.

As the story unfolds and we find out who is behind the ballerina’s fall, we see that those who supposedly love us the most, are the ones creating the most damage. The ones who make mothers disappear from their young children are the ones who we’ve trusted our entire life.

Full of twists and turns, this story was a good ending to a great series!

Conor
The Boston Underworld series by A. Zavarelli is my favorite by this author. When I saw that Conor was getting his own book, I was super stoked!!!

Conor has proven himself time and time again within the family. But when he finally gets asked to do a job by himself…he couldn’t believe it! Finally a chance to really prove my loyalty to the family that took me in.

Ivy is hoping this last chance job at the strip club will allow herself to start making money and finally get out of Boston. For her, the time she has been there have been anything but happy. One good thing has come out of the bad. But will she be able to make enough to save the one good thing in time?

It was great reading about the men in the previous books! I really enjoyed this story. The perfect ending to a great series.

Wow

This is an exceptionally dark and emotional series. At times I wasn't sure if I could carry on reading. But it's absolutely compelling and gripping storyline. I will keep reading as I've become invested now. Great writing.

Hella good!

These books have a ton of work put into them. And as a reader I could definitely tell. Well drawn characters, plausible plot (sort of), and great sexytimez. A definite recommendation.

This is one of the best mafia romance series that I've read in a while. I had so many different emotions and feelings running through me I didn't know what to do. I wanted to laugh, cry, scream, sigh and throw my Kindle all at once. I absolutely love this series.

CROW:

Mack is just trying to find out what happened to her friend, Talia. She knows that Talia was working at Slainte when she went missing and she plans on infiltrating the strip club in order to get information. When she tries to get into Slainte as a dancer Lachlan Crow tells her no and that he doesn't trust her. You can tell there is instant chemistry between these two and things start heating up quickly. But with both of them hiding things from one another they can never truly let their guards down. It's an emotional, twisted ride you don't want to miss out on!!!

REAPER:

Sasha has had a rough life. The men around her just use her and throw her away. Ronan is the quiet, brooding, beautiful man that is always watching Sasha, but never says anything to her. She can't tell if he hates her or if he's attracted to her. He seems like he has no feelings whatsoever and Sasha has given up on any kind of feelings because it just leads to disappointment and heartbreak. Can these two broken souls heal each other or will they just be one another's downfalls?

GHOST:

Two people who let their pasts define them make this a wonderfully emotional and beautiful story. You have Talia who has always been let down, first by her mother, then the foster care system and finally by her so called boyfriend. She is numb and just wants to fly away and be done with this life. Then you have Alexei, his father disowned him, his mother abandoned him and his so called woman betrayed him. When these two come together it is a recipe for disaster. I mean how can these two people ever be able to trust and rely on each other after everything they've been through?

SAINT:

Rory aka "Saint" is part of the Irish syndicate and has no problem taking a life. When he meets Scarlett, he has met his match. Described in the book as "the Letty to his Dom", but he just calls her Satan. She is a tough chick who takes crap from no one and she makes no apologies for who she is. Scarlett has an agenda, one she feels Rory messed up and she plans to make him pay. Rory is just trying to figure out what his little hellraiser is up to and he knows it's crazy but he can't get her out of his head.

THIEF:

This story is focused on Nikolai and Tanaka and what happens when Tanaka's father gives her to Nikolai as collateral for the debt he owes to the Russian Mafia. Tanaka is a good girl, she has remained pure so she can marry the man her father chose for her and all she really wants is to be a leading ballerina. To find out what happens when she is forced to live with and obey Nikolai you must read the story. Will he break her or will she be able to endear herself to him?story

CONOR:

Ivy is hiding from the Locos, a brutal local street gang. She just wants to make enough money to get far away from them. She gets a job at Sláinte, the strip club owned by the Irish Mob. Crow is worried that Ivy is there because they killed her boyfriend and he's trying to figure out what she knows. He tasks Conor with watching Ivy and taking her out if necessary. Conor takes on the job so he can prove himself to Crow and the rest of the crew. He takes one look at the dirty, skinny woman and decides she's a waste of space anyway because she looks like an addict. Ivy's got a secret she is hiding and when Conor gets the whole story from her he tells her that she must marry him or die. Ivy feels like she has gone from the frying pan into the fire and feels trapped.

This is a definite must read box set and I highly recommend it!!!

Crow:

If I could give this book 10 stars I would! This book was beyond amazing!!! I could not put this down! This was a jaw dropping, heart stopping, gut wrenching, panty wetting phenomenal book!

One of the many things I loved about this book was what A. Zavarell's always does, she captures your attention the entire time while taking you on the ride of your life. You go through the motions with the characters. The reader develops an attachment to the main characters so every single emotion, whether it's sorrow, heartache, fear, excitement, or joy, you're in it!

This story is a great mafia storyline with the love of family and friends rolled into it. How far would you go for the one you love? Would you give up your revenge? Would you go after the one that hurts the one you love? You've got to get your hands on this book! You won't regret it!!

Reaper:

Where do you begin when a book has completely captivated you in every way possible? This was an amazing story. Thrilling, heart-stopping and jaw-dropping Mafia book. There were moments you can't help but crack up laughing and other times you just want to hug Ronan and tell him it will be okay.

The Author does a phenomenal job capturing the emotions in this story. You truly feel as though you're right there watching as the story unfolds. I've never experienced a book like this one. And it's absolutely an unforgettable one.

Ghost:

This book deserves 10 stars! Each book before I think can't be topped....and every time I'm wrong. Ghost is so many things. It's thrilling, suspenseful, heartbreaking, beautiful, and a truly an addictive book.

Immediately you feel the chemistry between Alexei and Talia. Your heart breaks multiple times over before its pieces back together. I couldn't stop reading this book. I'm so ruined now.

Saint:

Wow. Wow. Wow. This book was superb! Action packed, heart stopping, heart wrenching, steamy and full of hot Irish Men! Rory & Scarlett have such great chemistry. I love this book so much. From learning about their stories to their bantering back and forth.

This book brings out your favorite men from the Boston Underworld Series and does NOT disappoint.

Thief:

An unstoppable force of desire, devotion, commitment and secrets to be unveiled. Thief stole my attention from the very beginning and I’ve been entranced ever since. Prepare to be shocked, turned on, heart broken and obsessed from beginning to end. What a fantastic read. One of my favorites.

Conor:

Zavarelli at her best again! The final book of the Boston Underworld Series packed some serious heat and action and packed serious punches. It was great getting to read Conor’s story and having most of the Irish Lads all back together. Terrific story.

AMAZING. CAPTURING. UTTERLY EPIC!
NOW is the time to party with the Irish mob! A. Zavarelli is a fantastic writer. Her words are flawless. Enough said!

Conor
Intense mafia passion that will rock your world! A. Zavarelli keeps blowing these stories out of the water and Conor is no different.

Conor is tasked to keep watch of an eye witness to a murder and dispose of her, but when he finds out the secret to her life she keeps hidden... plans change. Can her world and his collide?

"It's better if she hates me. It's better if she thinks I'm an arsehole because in the end, I'll have no choice."

Theif
Your heart will soar, but shatter just the same then mend again in full with Thief, the man that will steal your heart!

Thief, the fifth book in The Boston Underworld series is dark, beautiful and a captivating tale of Italian vs. Russian mafia families at war. Zavarelli keeps you on your toes until the last word and even in the end, she has you contemplating re reading the epic tale.

“But the things that go bump in the night are not the most dangerous predators. It’s the ones who are silent. It’s the thieves who come to steal you away without warning. And there is no thief more skilled than Nikolai Kozlov.”

Nikolai and Tanaka’s story is deliciously dangerous. As a lover of ballerinas, I immensely enjoyed Tanaka’s journey. She had a hard upbringing under her father’s influence, knowing the hardship of the mafia life. On her bright night, on the stage set forth for a soloist, she falls from grace and who to catch her but Nikolai.

If you're after the ultimate Mafia series then look no further, The Boston Underworld collection is one of the best on the market.

Each book gets better as the series goes from strength to strength. There are some fantastic characters that will get under your skin and leave their own mark on you. I'm always torn as to which one I love the most.

This series will have you gripped from the beginning it's highly addictive, these guys will lure you into their World and you won't walk away unscathed, but it's an exhilarating experience.
These Irish and Russian Mobsters will rock your world.

In true Mafia style this series is not for the faint hearted, it's Dark and Dangerous. Violent and Bloody. Raw and incredibly real. It's a unique and unforgettable world where only the strongest survive.

Trust me you'll fall in love with the bad guys and their feisty kickass women and wish you'd met them sooner.

Even though this series is complete I'm really hoping it's a case of never say never from A. Zaverelli and The Boston Underworld. ( fingers crossed )

Love do fierce

Hard, handsome and bad boys always think they're just going about their single lives and any woman is a conquest. But little do they realize just one glance from a woman can cause their world to go topsy turvy and their world as they knew it will no longer exist. They turn into cavemen and realize that said woman was everything were looking for but somehow they can't grasp that the feelings are not reciprocated. Go figure henna was to work for her and she bolts. But try as she might out hero's get what they want. It's good to see a man fall. Our woman make them go on their knees and worship them. Crow and Mack, Rory, Sasha, Alexei, and the whole group learn they can not do without their other half. They have to move heaven nd earth to get there.

This was my first time reading A. Zavarelli, and while it it take me some time to really get into the book, I did find myself like it. Her writing style is a bit different that what I typically read, but her characters are interesting and they really grow on you.

In this box set I think I enjoyed Reapers story the most. These books are not for those that expect a typical boy fall for girl/boy saves girl, they fall in love and live happily ever after. There are nity gritty, balls to the wall in your face characters. Sometimes they are good, sometimes are they bad, but boy oh boy are they hot.

Each book in this set gives you a glimpse into a world of blood, loyalty and family, these are intense alphas that will make your heart race!

I have all of these books, and I love them all! The raw and gritty underbelly of Boston is held together by the Irish mafia and their friends. Each of these stories can stand alone, but read together, they paint a fantastic picture of men who aren't afraid to fight for what they want, who protect without question, and who love with all their heart. They're perfectly imperfect, and their flaws just make their characters that much stronger, and the women these men love find their way through their own darkness to give them what they need. This is such an amazing series - Crow, Reaper, Ghost, Saint, Thief, and Conor, I love the men of the Boston Underworld!

You will not be disappointed!

Ok, I don’t know why, but they all took me time to get into them. I absolutely loved them. I’ve laughed and cried. When I did start reading I didn’t want to stop. I did wish they came in a different order, because u know some stuff from the book before which would have been better not knowing. But all in all I loved them a fully recommend. I was sad when they ended.

O My WORD

My mind is still reeling. What a saga. Every book blew my mind. I just loved all the characters and the way they mingled throughout the series. Without a doubt I am going to have serious withdrawal symptoms. I am an avid reader but I have never ever enjoyed a collection of books this much. If I could give a higher rating it would be in double figures.

Holy Irish mobster hotness. If you love rugged mobster men who are violent, gorgeous and ooze sex, this is the series for you. Every page and book is better than the last. Love, love, loved this series. A. Zavarelli does it like only she knows how.

Good read

I loved just about everything in all these books. Even the rawness. If you love an Irish man, here’s a few that won’t disappoint. Contents can be raw but the author has written them well. Good read! :).
