Boston Underworld The Collection
A.Zavarelli
Crow – Book 1
Crow, is yet another crazy mind bender bought to you by A Zavarelli. Her knack for whacked out characters blows my mind, and here is another for her collection. Crow is an underworld drama/ thriller with erotic undertones I guess I would say, but certainly not a book to be read on a lazy afternoon. This is a take all, including all of your time, emotions and attention.
Mackenzie, is a bass ass fighter, bought up to be able to look after herself. When her daddy died she lived the hard life on the streets. Now she finds herself heading into Boston's underworld to find her best friend. When Talia went missing, Mack soon realised she couldn't rely on the police to find her. The Mafia and cartels are to big for them, but mad Mack won't be stopped by them.
Heading in she knows she must find a man to take her in so in a fight to end all fights she knocks out one if their own and attracts Lachlan Crow. Lachlan is the man everyone looks up to, he is the leader of the McKenna syndicate and he is the one taken by Mackenzie butterfly Wilder. Soon after the fight, Mack is taken in litterally by Lachlan, and soon she discovers finding Talia may not be the only thing she gets out of the underworld.
Very quickly Mack is thrown into a world way out if her depths, and falling for a kingpin of the underworld was also not on the agenda, but when a man like Lachlan Crow shows interest, you pay attention. He wants to take down smart ass pain Mack, but not with murder... Falling for crow was never in the plan, but when she starts to interfere in the running of things, her life becomes a problem that needs to be removed. Will she turn out like Talia, or will Lachlan go against his family for a woman he shouldn't love?
Taken from both Mackenzie and Lachlan 's POV, we get a look into both of their perspectives of life, live and family. But for 2 pig headed hot heads, this will always end in gunfire. Just who makes it out is the question.
Reaper – Book 2
How does one review a book that has such a impact on life itself? Reaper is all kind of dark, violent, disturbing but really messes with your mind. Ashleigh Zavarelli is all kinds of weird and I absolutely love her for it. She makes you question everything you think you know and read... I can only imagine what her Google history must look like after writing Crow and Reaper!
The master of mystery - Ronan Fitzgerald aka Reaper, had had the hardest of lives. As a child he was tortured beyond anything I could possibly imagine and now as an adult he is number 2 to Lachlan Crow in the mafia wars of Ireland's underground. He has no feelings and shows no interest in other people, except for Sasha. She and Ronan share a huge secret but what she doesn't know is Ronan is constantly watching her.
Sasha, is pretty much over life itself, her mother is in death's door and she is buring more than a dancer at a strip club. a whore for men to use, and if she's smart she keeps her mouth shut about it. But for Sasha it is the Reaper who fills her days and nights. His attention, yet ignorance of her keeps her on edge.
As the pair come together with a devistating secret they soon discover the need for each other. But with Ronan's past, Sasha is left feeling more and more last out. His constant use of her body then leaving without a word slowly breaks her down.
So when they are both put in danger it is now Ronan must step up and devote himself to Sasha or prepare for her to leave him forever.
This book must come with a warning or violence and pretty much hatred towards women, but it is amazingly written with loveable characters along with so many twists and turns every page.
Ghost – Book 3
A Zavarelli
4.5 Underworld mafia stars
Ashley Zavarelli - what can I say, her writing never cease to amaze me. So dark and dangerous I find myself taking huge deep breathes to calm my rapid breathing. Ghost is book 3 in the Boston underworld series, and although each book is about its own characters, the history of the previous stories really put it all together. I always struggle with writing reviews when it comes to this series, as I’m a mafia virgin, I know nothing about it, the men and women who rule and the obvious family histories that clearly play a major role in everything about the book.
For Talia , leaving Slainte with her apparent boyfriend was perfect, he would never hurt her and she would live a much better life than dancing for Mafia men. That is until she wakes up, tied to a bed where she us brutally raped and beaten after being sold to an arms dealer as a slave. Her life pretty much can't get much worse.... But when she is given to another man in payment for a late shipment her world will change again.
Alexei Nikolaev has been sent to find and retrieve Talia, but what he finds is so much worse than he expected. Talia is bloodied and beaten but this should not affect him in anyway. He is part of Boston’s mafia group. As a Vory he is lives by their code. But for Talia, extracting her from Arman ‘s clutches should be enough. Alexei has his own demons and it will be Talia who “fixes” him. As perfectly said in the books blurb:
“She thinks she has me fooled by her haunted eyes.
What she can’t know is that I see her better than most.
She wants to fly.
But I’m going to clip her wings.
And make her my wife.”
When Alexei returns to Boston with Talia he is ridiculed by his fellow Vory, he should have the best bred wife , not a worthless whore. Talia struggles with everything, from being locked up, but free to roam his home, full meals and a housekeeper who you can only love. It us Magda who helps Talia with daily routine, but with bigger demons, she is hell bent on destroying herself with pain... whether it be a smashed mirror or a jump from a roof. She craves that pain to continue on with Alexei’s plan.
As the pair give into the sex, there are feelings. Talia is petrified, Alexei is dangerous, like all the other mafia men and his hell bent target of having Talia pregnant brings more feelings . Through a dark, dangerous, demeaning run through life they both will overcome more barriers than any person should have to. 2 unlikely people, a world of struggle and an ending that will have you gasping for air.
Do yourself a favour, and one click this book along with Crow and Reaper. You certainly will not be disappointed, I haven’t been.
Saint – Book 4
A Zavarelli
4.5 these mafia man make me want to turn bad stars.
Well I cant say this enough, if you are looking for sweet romance Saint and the rest of the Boston underworld series is definitely not for you, but if you love super strong leads, alpha males, some serious blood and gore and serious hot sex then get your ass into gear and read all of this series. I have been fortunate enough to read all of A’s work and just when I think she can’t get any darker she continues to blow me away. Each individual book in this series focus’ on one main male and female, Saint is Rory and Scarlett’s story. As with the previous stories, they both come from messed up backgrounds and have come to the underground for their own reasons, but that doesn’t stop the intertwining of their relationship. Each character is special for their own reason and A breaks them down perfectly. No hearts and flowers here – nope, unless you class the hearts they tear out or flowers that are stomped on in the process.
Scarlett is the proverbial silver spoon child, she had everything, money, the best education, the popular boyfriend , the overly disapproving mother, but everything went to hell the night of initiation at college. Now she is a psycho of the underworld, and those at fault that fateful night are top of her hit list. She is no shrinking violet, Scarlett is a top notch evil player. She can carve, stab at shoot like any man. But what she discovers is that the one she needs to bring that group down is another man she should despise, but doesn’t. She is going to have to trust Rory aka Saint to help her bring the ultimate justice.
Rory Brodrick has had his fair share of women, being a friend to the boss makes him easy pickings for the girls on parade, he sticks to blondes because there is only one brunette that has caught him up. After the previous meeting and apparent kidnapping, Rory can’t believe Scarlett is back, and needing his help. Help he is happy to give, but it comes with consequences, everything in Scarlett’s world is her rules.... Simple, but she has met her match with Saint. She needs his help, she will have to open up to him, making her vulnerable. Giving him everything will break down everything she has worked to keep behind the iron clad walls of her heart.
Together they are explosive, both physically and sexually, but when her past comes back with his own demands Scarlett will have to tell Rory everything. Rory will discover the woman he thought he knew has a complete other dark side, not the princess he expects. And the hate Scarlett thought she had towards Saint turns to something completely opposite, she finds under the tough fighting exterior is a man whom loves her... but with a past like her will she ever be able to love him back. Not only together but with the mafia family, they will do everything in their power to break Scarlett from the evil bounds bought onto her by a past she can’t walk away from.
Although very dark, and with a lot of violence, this story has some serious emotional components. Another fantastic read from A Zavarelli, as I had always expected.
Thief
Book - 5
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Oh. My. God. Every book I say, how does Ms Zavarelli continue with the screwed up mess that is the character's of the Boston Underworld. There has never been a sweet male in each of these books. They are Vory Brothers, and nothing will come between any of them. These stories are heart racing, gaspingly good. They are gory, rough, rude but unforgettable.
In previous stories, we have seen how the women feel in the Vory men, most use and abuse women, they are just subjects, something to screw, but for the lucky ones they find their forever’s in a race of epic proportions.
This time it's Nikolai Kozlov, to be centre attention. He's horribly brutal, but I couldn't help but fall for him. With debts owing taking a daughter should have been easy, but what Nikolai didn't expect was a badly broken young woman. Tanaka Valentini is gorgeous, has a smart mouth, and has no problem serving it up to Niko. With an abusive father comes an attitude to win or lose everything. She has come from a very tough life, so seeing Nik in his element, should scare her. It doesn't, it pushes her to get what she wants.
These two will clash massively, but with that comes the realism that they need each other. It won't be sweet, it won't be pretty. It will keep you up at night, have you gasping, and routing for them. But rules are rules, and Vory – Well they make their own.... This is a must read series.
Conor
Boston – Book 6
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌟
I’m not sure I’ve ever read a series like the Boston Underworld series. It is strange that a book can be so brutal yet so sweet. The men of the Mafia are family, and that means if you find a woman she becomes yours. In previous stories other men and found there crazy love , and this time it’s Conor’s turn. In the most roundabout of ways.
Ivy is in the run from the Loco’s, another Underworld group, but when she shows up at Slainte looking for a job, Conor is taken by her at first sight. It doesn’t take long for him To lay claim to Ivy, nit knowing that she’s also has a son. Conor’s crazy world is about to be turned upside down. Marrying her, claiming her, keeping her safe, means feelings are books get forward. While foreign to Conor, Ivy has always wanted this… love, respect, safety…. She’ll get it but not before seeing things no one should have to live through.
In he final book of this series, Ms Zavarelli pulls ever last string of awsomeness. If you haven’t read this series, start now. All bad boys, and good girls with huge attitudes create an amazing journey into the Boston Underworld.
