The murder mystery island task is completed with a twist or three and the now gang of four enter the "film 15 seconds' game with no real clear idea of what they intend to do; however this new task is subsumed under some characterisation and backstory plotting! Yes that's right he series that started with explicit sexual violence and a lot of sexual and horror violence content just finished a volume where these themes played a very minor issue. The slow-burn character development has me hooked as does the overall mystery of a game that encourages filmed graphic content for online video competitions for Likes on Dead Tube! A strong Three Star, 7 out of 12 read, as the main downside was the use of narrative exposition over artwork.

Siamo arrivati alla fine del mistero di Crazy Rascal che mi ha appassionato tantissimo e anche la sua conclusione mi è piaciuta molto, rimane misteriosa e complicata fino all'ultimo: niente è come sembra, davvero. Poi i nostri protagonisti tornano a casa e Machimiya diventa sempre più curioso di scoprire la verità su Mei e sulla sua famiglia e capire perché la ragazza dice che i due si sono conosciuti ancor prima dell'avventura di Dead Tube e perché i due si sentono così attrattati l'uno all'altra. Il tutto mentre inizia una nuova sfida, creare un video di 15 secondi, e cercando il video con più scalpore si arriva alla conclusione del volume che promette scintille per il prossimo. Più che in precedenza infatti ho delle idee e delle congetture nella mia testa e gli ultimi volumi di questa serie mi hanno molto sorpreso e appassionato e quindi voglio proprio vedere cosa succederà. Questo è davvero un bel volume per la conclusione della parte di Crazy Rascal, ma anche per la faccenda legata al passato di Mei che mostra un aspetto davvero inedito della ragazza, la rende non più comprensibile, ma aggiunge mistero al suo personaggio e diventa ancora più intrigante, mi è piaciuto molto questo nuovo aspetto; inoltre visto il finale del volume spero che anche Machiya mostri un nuovo lato di se e sono curiosa di vedere come reagirà per i nuovi sviluppi legati a Dead Tube...

I think this is my first 4 star for the series. I sorta knew something was going to happen with the return of the father, but I was definitely taken by surprised by the end there!

Review also encompasses first three chapters of volume seven, as it isn't collected yet.
It gets an extra star automatically for getting us off the friggin island. Reading that arc was not painful in the way that reading the rest of the series was. That said, the twist on a twist on a twist was stupid and makes no sense. Like most of the arc. And having most arcs end with a twist is ruining the feeling of reading the next ones, because it prevents me from being invested. Not that I would anyway because guess what

I hate them! The interesting thing about all the other psychos (read: basically everyone that's in more than 2 panels) is that they spend 90 percent of the time in school uniforms. It's the feeling that they are among us and we probably couldn't even tell. I thought that was calculated at first, like in Higurashi (before it got so repetitive I had to put it down about 6 volumes in). The whole thing is starting to reek of accidental genius, though the one thing the series does have going for it with the new arc is the possibility of a confrontation between Machiya and Mai, whic has been brewing since chapter 2. Oh and Mai. I get that Japan is a small country, but does literally every main character ever have to have had a meaningful encounter with their foil when they were a child. I could mistake the island arc as a good idea poorly executed, but this is just tropey laziness, and now the most fear I get out of this series is whether I'll even care by the time July's chapter rolls around.

This has been my most favourite volume of dead tube so far. The appearance of George L took this series to a far more darker side than previously.
