Piero Martin (1962) è un fisico sperimentale, professore di fisica della materia. Laureato nel 1986 presso l’Ateneo Patavino, quindi borsista presso i laboratori della ‘United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority’ di Culham-Oxfordshire, dal 1989 al 1991 è stato ricercatore presso il CNR. Nel 1992 viene assunto quale ricercatore presso l’Università di Padova. La sua attività è dedicata alla fisica dei plasmi ed in particolare alle sue applicazioni energetiche, tramite la fusione a confinamento magnetico. E’ attualmente responsabile del ‘Topical Group’ europeo sulla stabilità magnetoidrodinamica istituito dall’EFDA. EFDA è l’agenzia che a livello europeo cooordina il programma di ricerca sulla fusione negli attuali dispositivi sperimentali. È anche coordinatore dell’’Implementing Agreement on RFP’ dell’International Energy Agency (IEA), nonchè membro dell’European Physical Society e dell’American Physical Society.

The poet has a deftness with rhythm, language, and rhyme that is marvelous. Starbuck's skill is in taking what at first glance is a lighthearted rhythmic or rhyming poem as simple as whipped cream, and weaving in a deeper meaning that solidifies as he goes on so the finish is a satisfaction found of a richer, meatier poem.

Starbuck has an amazing way of stringing words together beautifully... I thoroughly enjoyed his collection of poems. Wonderful first book.
