E. C. Jacobs writes action and adventure thrillers set all around the world. His years of international living have given him a wealth of firsthand knowledge that he uses to craft realistic settings and fuel his imagination. Born in rural West Texas, Jacobs has spent time in several continents, including Europe, Africa, and Asia, and he's resided all over the United States, including stints in New Mexico, Missouri, Tennessee, Mississippi, Georgia, North Carolina, and Washington, DC.
After serving as a paratrooper in the army, Jacobs spent over ten years in the insurance industry before pursuing other interests, including writing. He is the author of Last Chance, The Coast, Sunchaser, and the upcoming release, The Hunter. He currently lives with his family in Virginia.
In Sunchaser, E.C. Jacobs crafts a gripping wartime thriller that plunges readers into the chaos and peril of the Pacific during one of history’s most turbulent eras. Set in December 1941, just as Japan unleashes its devastating advance across the Pacific, the novel follows Travis Johnson and the crew of the Sunchaser, an unassuming ship thrust into a desperate fight for survival.
What starts as a routine voyage quickly escalates into a white-knuckle escape across hostile waters. As enemy forces tighten their grip and the world seems to collapse around them, the Sunchaser and her crew must navigate not only the physical dangers of war-torn seas but also the mental and emotional toll of constant threat.
Jacobs brings this historical drama to life with razor-sharp prose, richly atmospheric settings, and a relentless pace. The tension is immediate and ever-present, and Jacobs does an excellent job of portraying the chaos and uncertainty of the time without losing sight of the human elements. Travis Johnson is a compelling protagonist—courageous but grounded, flawed yet resilient.
For fans of historical fiction, naval adventure, or wartime survival stories, Sunchaser is a standout. Jacobs captures the spirit of WWII-era storytelling with the emotional depth of characters fighting not just enemies, but fate itself.
Verdict: Thrilling, immersive, and emotionally resonant, Sunchaser is a wartime odyssey that will grip you from the first page to the last. A must-read for fans of historical naval fiction and high-stakes adventure.
Nice to see ww2 from another prospective. There hasn't been a lot written from the Australian side fiction or not. I can see this book as a series. Enjoyed the characters.
