Hunter Fitz has settled into his life in Riverside, spending time with Kacey and gearing up for his second semester of teaching at Boulder University. Everything seems to be going just fine—Hunter both embracing the darkness and keeping it at bay—until his past slams back into his life in the form of someone he'd thought he'd lost forever.
It's difficult enough to discover that Austin is alive after spending two decades thinking he was dead. But when Hunter learns that Austin is Kacey's father, the darkness threatens to consume him, and he might lose Austin all over again.
Until Hunter learns Austin's secret, and Hunter decides he's going to have everything he wants, no matter what it takes.
**This book contains content of a taboo nature.**
(Note: This story takes place in a fictional world, the same as in the Shifting Isles Series. There are multiple gods, different names for the days of the week, etc. A glossary is included.)
G.R. Lyons stumbled into writing as a form of trauma recovery when traditional therapy wasn't working.
Then the story ideas just kept on coming.
Pulling from a vivid imagination as well as real-life experience as a trans man, a sexual assault survivor, and a person living with mental illness, Lyons has written multiple, interconnected series set within his fictional world of the Shifting Isles.
When not writing, Lyons can be found belly dancing around the house, studying anarcho-capitalist philosophy, buried in his never-ending TBR pile, or working out at the local CrossFit gym.
As I continue the decadent journey with G.R. Lyons’ Transitivity trilogy let’s take a look at Austin: The Second Premise. Austin’s story yields revelation, lost love, and self-discovery as the past and present collide in an explosive, albeit sometimes manipulative, sequence of events.
To begin, in my review of Kacey: The First Premise I mentioned that Hunter represents darkness. And while that is true, we begin to see a kinder, loving side to this complex and tormented soul. Hunter is most definitely a result of his past. As things slowly emerge, your understanding dawns and while you may not condone his tantalizingly debauched actions, the man settles within your heart.
Kacey remains a force of nature. His spirit and outlook are ever present as is his unique grasp on the world. His daddy kink is ever present, and the lascivious little minx is a real hoot. However, let’s not overlook the kind, caring and generous person the boy truly is.
Since this is Austin’s story, of course he is front and center this time. As Kacey’s stepfather he wrestles with his feelings toward the boy. Given hints of his past, empathy emerges. Yet, this situation is completely different and acceptance dawns on the horizon.
Austin’s story yields revelation, lost love, and self-discovery as the past and present collide in an explosive, albeit sometimes manipulative, sequence of events.
Yes, I fell in love with Kacey in the First Premise, but Austin: The Second Premise takes these men to new heights. Manipulation and taboo resound but so does love and healing. Austin finds a hard-won tranquility and acceptance of his past. To be completely at peace, this quiet and gentle man has a battle ahead of him, but the strength that emerges is glorious to behold.
Thwack… Austin: The Second Premise concludes with a bombshell that heightens the experience and I immediately had to open Hunter: The Conclusion. I desperately want to see these men get past the perceived “taboo” nature to their bonding, to be able to set aside their individual torments, to achieve their true destiny.
You definitely need to read Transitivity in order. Austin: The Second Premise builds on the events of Kacey: The First Premise. One needs to have the backstory to completely enjoy the beautiful relationship that emerges between these men.
Austin is the second book in the Transitivity series by G.R.Lyons and continues the deliciously intense story of Kacey, Hunter and Austin. This book is even more amazing than the first. It is definitely a tale that takes you on a journey of lust, manipulation and taboo. I love the characters and how they interact with one another. I am anxious for the third installment of their story. Definitely recommen.
I had to continue this series to see what happens. I just have to know...
Hunter is still an asshole. I can’t stand his character. Austin seems like such a good guy and he had the same past as Hunter, yet he doesn’t have the “darkness” or whatever Hunter’s excuse is for manipulating and blackmailing so many of his students into letting him fuck them. Plus Hunter’s trying to be in some sort of relationship with both Kacey and Austin, yet he’s still behaving that way? It’s fucking infuriating.
I like Austin and I’m glad he finally ended up being with Kacey. It’s obviously what they both wanted. He isn’t Kacey’s actual uncle since her mom and Austin were only foster siblings. He isn’t her biological dad because they had genetic testing done. BUT my intuition is telling me that Hunter is Kacey’s biological father somehow. Yep, so many hints...
And the whole thing with Simon and Noah in Hunter’s office? I mean yeah I hate Hunter for that in general but ooooh am I intrigued by Noah and Simon together. Noah most likely had a crush on Simon and I’m guessing that he’s glad that Simon got that little push... hmmm. 😏
I’ll continue this story but it isn’t my fave. I just need to know what happens - I’m kind of obsessed with things like that.
4 stars Book: Austin Series:The Second Premise (Transitivity Book 2) Author: G R Lyons Publisher: Amazon Digital Release: March 15, 2019 Pages:296 Genre:Transexual Romance Rated: Mature
GR Lyons newest series is taboo themed, yet intriguing, Kacey we learn is a college student, a virgin, a female to male trans, with a daddy issue. Soooo if this is your hard line this might not be your choice to read.
In saying this, although a bit uncomfortable, I continued the book and was enchanted by Kacey. His bright look at life, his good heart, wanted something that was his, although it was taboo. Kacey wanted his step father Austin to make love to him…..Austin, who I wanted to strangle…….and Kacey also chose his messed up professor Hunter…… who I wanted to know why he was that way!
We now are slowly finding out a bit more since this book is Austin’s. We also realize that Hunter’s great love…. that he lost and thought to have died….and is still alive…. The pieces are falling into place…..and did I mention there is much hotness in this book????? The tri relationship is just beginning….Next is Hunters book…..I will be there…
As the title says, this is Austin's book, and we see the struggles between wanting to be a father figure for Kacey and battling the desire he's held for him since he started his transition.
I was on needles waiting for Austin and Hunter to find each other again, so much hurt and want after those twenty years apart. Austin's guilt for leaving Hunter, and Hunter's anger for being left behind in the clutches of what we can still only imagine. Kacey ends up in the middle of their tug/pull game where neither is willing to part with the boy and finding out they might not have to.
This was as uncomfortable as the first, or maybe a bit more because of Simon. I knew it was coming but I didn't want it to happen. Though it's more obvious in this book that there is something very wrong with Hunter, he is lacking empathy. Making him very selfish, only willing to give during intimate moments.
Again I had countless times where I were just thinking "This is so fucked up." And I have my own thoughts about who Kacey's father is now.
I still don't quite know what to do with Hunter. He's changed so much. I don't like what he did with Simon and Noah ( no spoilers. You gotta read). I am so glad he found Austin, though. And after seeing the blurb for the next book, which is his story, I'm hoping they can finally start to heal. Their pasts were all messed up and it's not something easy to get over. Things are complicated and I have a feeling it's going to blow up severely, but damn if this isn't a hell of a series. I'm so excited to see where this is going. It's taking some twists and turns for sure, but it's so so good.
Wow, I waited not so patiently for this book, and it didn’t disappoint. The heat, the chemistry, the desire it was everything. Austin finally admitting what he wants was beautiful to read. Kacey brings so sure one minute, then a mess the next as reality hits almost broke me. Hunter doing all he can to have everything he wants and craves, just make him so much stronger. I cannot wait for the final book in this series.
This is the second book in a series of three. This story is about Austin and how he reconnects with Hunter while fighting his attraction to Kacey. Finally giving us the three of them together.
This series is SO GOOD. It’s dark and twisty and taboo, and emotional and sweet and incredibly sexy. I love Kacey to pieces, and I was so glad to get more of Austin. Hunter is so mysterious but I’m looking forward to getting his story!
Addictive read. Not masses of plot but just right. On so many levels. Good writing and the characters are so lovable you can’t help but root for them and want to know more!
This is intense. I’m warming up to Hunter a little bit. I adore Kasey. Austin is so sweet and carries so much in him. I can’t wait to read the next one.
This book handles a few taboos. Some I like, some I don’t. I found out I’m not a big fan of dub-con/non-con. That’s why I really didn’t like Hunter in the first book. Fortunately I liked him a lot more in this book. I can’t wait to find out what his demons are (his back story will be in book 3). Austin is Kacey’s stepdad and Hunter’s first love. He and Hunter hadn’t seen eachother for 20 years. Their reunion was very sweet. Kacey, Hunter and Austin are really hot together. This book has a lot of hot sex scenes! Although I didn’t like what Hunter did to Simon and his brother Noah, I’m very curious about them. Hope they get their own story.
my favorite of the bunch! Austin was the best Daaaaady! Austin realizes Hunter is still alive and he is having a relationship with Kacey and it throws all their relationships into a tailspin. this book is a must read. one of the best I have read this year!
