Hell cracked open, oozing evil into the world. The human population is decimated. Dangerous monsters roam the land. Witches and vampires rule with cruelty and violence and shifters have all but lost their magic. One reticent girl and a band of brothers are the last spark of hope in a world consumed by darkness.

Wolf shifter Kayla Redclaw is the last alpha female. She might be the strongest alpha even known, but all she wants is a quiet life, hunting in the forest.

Unfortunately, her father has other plans. He's called every alpha male in the region to compete in a tournament. And Kayla is the prize! She is powerless to stop it, believing she has no choice but to dutifully follow her father's commands.

Quinn, Sid, Felix, and Jagger Blackfang arrive for the tournament, disclosing a chilling prophecy: the last alpha queen will mate with all five brothers and bring balance back to the world.

Blackfangs vie for Kayla's attention, but she is unsure if she wants them or their prophecy. Yet, the mystery of her expanding magic cannot be ignored.

Will Kayla find the confidence to accept her power or will she run from her destiny and a love so strong it could change everything?

Rescue is book one in The Last Alpha Queen trilogy. Readers of reverse harem, epic fantasy, and post-apocalyptic fiction will love The Last Alpha Queen. This is a medium burn romance between one unassuming shifter girl and five very different brothers. The relationships develop over the course of the series. This book contains explicit sexual situations, violence, and dark themes. 18+ recommended.

Update 05-07-19 at 7:29 am Eastern Standard Time:
I finish this book a few days ago or so. Anyway, I do not have a problem with a a story like this. Also there are explicated sex scenes. However, I do have issues with a few things in the book. I am not explaining because I am done wasting my time with this book. I hated the book. I read the book because of a book challenge. I give 2 stars. The cover was decent.

I wanted to like you.. but I couldn't. Pinot wasn't a fan either.

So, I feel like maybe this one day.. I shouldn't have read a horrid Christmas murder book and then this.. because both disappointed me and my pinot noir(s). From the first chapter, I started to hate everything and everyone. Nothing interested me and I was secretly plotting deaths all around.

No matter how many sips or glasses of Pinot.. I couldn't like anything about this book. I was bored.. and I was debating on watching one of my sisters shows instead of reading this book. Like.. the bachelor (she has it taped). So yeah.. that was my low point.

Overall, it was over and I hope to never see book 2 on my KU.

It was a great book !
This is the first book in the trilogy.
Kayla just wants to be free to live her life the way that she wants.
But being the last alpha female comes with obligations.
Her father makes all the alpha in the region to compete for her hand.
Enter the 5 Blackfang brothers.
Quinn, Sid, Felix, Jagger, and Riddick
Their mother is a seer.
She predicted that the last alpha female would mate w/ the 5 Blackfang brothers and save their land.
Is Kayla the one mentioned in the prophecy?
You will have to read the book to find out.
Loved the characters + the storytelling!
It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book!
I can't wait for the next book in this series.

Wasn't really sure what to expect while reading this story boy let me tell you that it was fascinating. This unique story will take you on a adventure add in some intrigue, action, and of course steamy romance to keep you hooked from beginning to end. So looking forward to seeing what else is in store for this series. Overall enjoyable and entertaining read and a great start for a new series.

2.5 stars because the book itself wasn't all that bad honestly, I just got super bored and really didn't care to read through the whole book, was almost a DNF but I skipped to like 2 chapters before the end and was content with that. The writing was fine and the characters were fine so I'm not sure why I got so bored with it sadly.

So I really wanted this to be a good book. It sounded like it could really be good and it is not like it was a bad book, but could have been so much better. The Alpha Queen is supposed to be in her mid twenties and most times it feels like she is a teenager. She is supposed to be this all powerful being and seems to go between being mousey then snotty queen. I just was not very impressed and I am not sure it was good enough to read the next book, whenever it comes out. The world building was kind of cool, but everything, including the characters, felt lacking to me.

Potential!

This is technically pushing it at four stars. This story has amazing potential. Incredible world the writer has written a great concept. That is what saved it from getting a three or below. However, The story itself reads to monotone, unnecessary additives and it reads like a sappy Disney movie on steroids. Please keep in mind that is just my opinion. Needs adult hotness ! It does have great action scenes however!

DNF! I made it about 60 pages in before calling it quits as there's nothing terribly likeable about this story. Apparently it all takes place in an alternate reality here on Earth, after the cataclysm. During the sundering earthquake, a huge fissure on the West Coast opened up and released all sorts of evil; demons, monsters and sickness. The human populace took the brunt of it, while supernatural beings managed pretty well though, despite the new hellish landscape.

The MC of this story is a wolf shifter, but she's not just any shifter! She happens to be the ONLY female alpha shifter, and she is super duper strong, beautiful and blah blah blah. Her father is holding a tournament so that male alphas can win her hand in marriage.

However the MC doesn't even want to get married but goes along with it anyway because it's really hard to say "no". Then there's some prophecy that basically says she will end up mated to 5 men, brothers no less, and then she will save the world or some such junk. Ew!

That's nasty! I can't stand polyamorous crap! But I guess that's what I get for not looking at the MPG's before starting this novel. Anyways, the plot set up is terrible and has been done thousands of times before. The MC is a temperamental bitch, and the idea of one woman banging a band of brothers grosses me out to the nth degree. Ick!

So I'm going to pass on this one. It's just not my cup of tea.

Kayla is a powerful Shifter with a kind heart and sharp intellect. (That right there is a reason to keep reading!) She has been misused for at least half of her life. 5 brothers attend a tourney in her lands--in hopes that their eldest brother/ alpha can win her hand in marriage.
The problem is, Shifters are willing to cheat to win. She is the last alpha and all alpha males want her! During a night of bad decisions, the same brothers kidnap her. According to their Shaman, Kayla is meant to be in their family and will save the world.

She quickly decides that she likes one of the brothers, but her wariness makes her keep her distance. Smart woman. In fact, she doesn't believe any of this shaman business and runs away from them. But more than their botched kidnapping is happening. People are disappearing, prophesies are being thrown around and a dark force is growing.

She finds unlikely allies in the brothers after all. Their numbers offer her protection from the other alphas out there willing to force her hand in marriage. Kayla and the brothers aren't exactly sure how they feel about one another. So they focus on their main goal-allowing the last alpha female to save them all. She is a little badass. I like it! I'm excited to find out what the series holds. It's a very slow burn novel full of zombies, shifters, vampires and witches!

Rescue, The Last Alpha Queen

This book is unique. It is about a female alpha wolf, the last of her kind. Unknown to her, there is a prophesy with another wolf clan about her.
Kayla has fought her father against being mated to an alpha of a wolf clan near them and that has a pact to protect each other. She has hated him for the past ten years after he killed her familiar, Daisey, a fox, just for sport. Kayla came home to be greeted by him and her father, with her father telling her he would be her mate.
Kayla has agreed to a competition of eligible Alpha Wolves to mate the winner. The five Blackfang brothers come together for their Alpha Jagger, to compete. But during the completion, Colton Ironclaw, the Alpha, Kayla will not accept, cheats. There is to be a rematch the next day, but events happen that changes everything. Kayla's life changes drastically that day and the following lifetime.
There is a lot of suspense, shifters, witches, vampires, demons, and everything else included. The life of a prophesy coming true and all the steps in starting are in this story.

OMG!! I really enjoyed this. Kayla is the daughter of the Smoky Mountain pack all she wants is the freedom to run an hunt but her father wants her to marry Colton Ironclaw but she wants nothing to do with him so he has created a tournaments with the winner getting her hand to be mated to.

Jagger,Sid,Felix,Riddick and Quinn Blackfang whose Mother a seer has told them they will marry the last female alpha and save them and their lands. Quinn a healer believes it most as he has the strongest connection to the Wolf Mother and after meeting Kayla he is convinced that she is he alpha of their prophecy and become a mate for them all.

I loved the world building, creativity, the depth of emotion, a strong female main character and some sexy boyfriends to fall in love with, I hope to continue this awesome introduction and wonder what Kay;a and her boys will accomplish next.

I voluntarily chose to read an advance copy and have no been compensated for this honest opinion but if shifter romances are of interest to you judge it for yourself and you may enjoy it as much as I have.

It’s pretty interesting for a shifter series because #1 its a reverse harem and I love those & #2 it’s set in a post apocalyptic world where witches & Vampires rule the world, humans were either slaves or became zombies after the world cracked and daemons and other creatures came out.

The shifters were left to their own devices for many years but slowly they have been loosing their magic, most are unable to shift & as now that they are running out of humans the vampires & witches are in slaving all shifters.

There are parts of the book that remains me of the walking dead show and others like 50 shades of grey.

The only part I’m not enjoying is listening to personal insecurities and pack drama. (And why was the creepy shifter her father wanted her to mate still alive? We know he’s going to be trouble in the future) 🤦‍♀️

This is a very good start to the series. I enjoy reverse harems and this one is about a family of brothers who are determined to win the last female Alpha to save their pack. It doesn't go the way they expect.

Kayla is conflicted. She wants to honor her father as she promised her mother before she died but her father is a controlling bully. He has it all set for her to marry the shifter he chose. These brothers give her another option.

The story is interesting and has some twists. The heat picks up as the story continues. I am looking forward to seeing where it all goes.

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received.

It was alright

The book was honestly alright. It reads more like an older fantasy novel than anything else. The heroine wasn't very likable. She had her moments but otherwise came across snotty and rude. She was also super powerful apparently and knows it so throws that around. Honestly I felt like she really didnt need anyone else. The romance aspect was just annoying and didnt feel right. It was honestly hard to connect with any of the other characters until over halfway through the book and even then I just wanted them to stop trying with the romance. My mind was past that and let's continue with the adventure.

A new adventure with plenty of evil in a dystopian Earth. From the start we know she is special. She is the last alpha female but also the strongest alpha in a hundred years. But her father only sees her as a way to seal and protect his pack with another. Too bad for him she has no plans of letting him force her. Five shifter brothers have always known they were part of a prophecy. But even most of them don’t believe in it. The story takes a few darker turns but are heroine always seems to survive. But death is all around her and those five brothers may be her only choice.

I love it!

I couldn't stop reading. Is amazing how A.L. Fogerty describes the world after the cataclysm and the way the vampires and witches rule the world is horrifying. Kayla is a very strong female character, she evolucionate throughout the story. And the 5 Blackfang brothers wow I love them. All so different and unique in their own way. Alpha warriors, healers, rebels and trouble makers, lover of the old wild of weapons and wisdom of knowledge in history of the old world. I'll be expecting the second book.

I wanted to love this. It had a lot of elements that I usually would love (shifters, magic, vampires, demons etc) but altogether somehow it didn't grab me.

The writing was off. Inner dialogue could be snappy but spoken dialogue was stilted. There was a lot of descriptions of hunting that could have been left out or cut down.

Quinn bugged me. Should have been my favourite but his whole 180 over the prophesy just didn't work especially as he was the die hard

It's been left in a way that I don't really feel the need to continue the series either

Rescue is the first of A.L. Fogerty's new Last Alpha Queen trilogy. This story grips you right from the start and never lets go. The storyline is fast-paced, full of adventure, danger, romance, magic and mayhem, twists and turns, intrigue and hot sex. The characters are developing well and are endearing. Kayla is a great heroine and the 5 brothers are a hoot! I can't wait to get to know them all better. Looking forward to book 2.

Adventurous

This has so much adventure going through this story that it was not boring. I liked Kayla and though she was a strong character. Quinn and Jagger were intense and a little arrogant. The other brothers were different and honestly I can't wait to meet them. They each need their own introduction especially if Kayla is supposed to be their mate. The villains were unique because of the diversity. We had zombies, witches, vampires and hell monsters. I liked them all.

Meh.

Weak characters (depth) and jerky, unsophisticated dialogues. Comedy tried and failed. Post apocalyptic plot couldn’t decide between zombies by virus, zombies by magic, cataclysmic natural disasters, plague that only wiped out most humans, race based supernatural faction clashes, renegade humans, lack of females, or steep generational decline me in magic... so let’s do it all!! Really?

VERY GOOD READ. ☆☆☆☆☆

I was pleasantly surprised to have enjoyed this book so much! I haven't read many reverse•harem books - or really sought them out. I chose this for a reading challenge. Although, I enjoy the sexy scenes; I am glad there weren't too many ... too many make a book cheesy in my opinion. I love the mystery surrounding Kayla RedClaw's paternity. I look forward to book II.

Awesome book worth the read.

It took me two tries to read this book. I am glad I gave it a second try.

The main characters were awesomly written. I loved the depth to each one of them.

Jagger had an impossible choice to make and he proved that he was a GREAT leader for his pack. Kayla's road to her inner strength was perfect. Quinn was the one with the most struggle and I loved the way they came through everything to reach home.

Definatelly going in for book 2.

I love this book if you’re a big fan of fantasy books, I would recommend. The setting of the story is nice, and the the female heroine is my dream girl lol she isn’t your typical act before she thinks kind of hero. I love when women can hold their own and this book does it for me I couldn’t put it down lol I stayed up late just to know what was next. This is my type of book and one of the best I had the pleasure of reading lately ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Good Read

The last alpha queen is being offered as a prize to the winner of the contest. Foul play is involved and finally Kayla stands up for herself deciding that she wants to make her own decisions. Her adventure is full of pain and sorrow with evil witches and vampires galore. I look forward to the next book! This is a great start to a series.

Great book

I wasn't sure I would like this book but I could not put the book down. Each chapter drew me deeper into the story and more in love with these wonderful characters. I just had to know what would happen and I can't wait for book two. The book has tons of action, drama, and steamy hot passion.

Great story!

This book was a great telling of a post cataclysmic America filled with vampires, witches, and shifters. I enjoyed the telling and sense of time passing through the story. There were hints to future chapters in the series, I can’t wait to see how everything ties together.

Cool story

It’s a slow burner for sure. I liked the mc she was a badass but I had an issue with her loving one but only “bound” to another. The love grew for all the guys but it was slow going.
