A playboy prince looking to be taken seriously. A pastry chef with her sights on the main dish. Can a fake engagement serve up their just desserts? Prince Alexander, Cordoba’s notorious second son, was spared the burden of ruling the monarchy, much to the nation’s relief. His exploits around the world have made him tabloid fodder, so when he wants to pursue his dream of opening a fusion restaurant, no one takes him seriously. The only way to convince investors he’s a good risk is to secure his inheritance—which will only happen after he marries. Too bad Alex never intends to get married. New York City pie maker, Jan Peppers was left at the altar on her wedding day. Even worse, she can’t afford to leave her business partnership with her ex and his new wife who toss salt in her wounds on the regular. Jan’s chance for freedom comes in the form of a deal with Prince Alex—become his chef and fake fiancée and open the restaurant they’ve both dreamed of. As luck would have it Jan never intends to walk down the aisle again. Now they just have to convince the world that a playboy prince would fall for a plain Jane of a pie maker. As Alex and Jan plan the menu, feelings start to heat up in the kitchen. But if the truth of their fake engagement comes out, Alex’s investors will back out and Jan will face another humiliating jilting. Or maybe they’ll serve up a real relationship that’s something to savor for all time. Find out if love will reign in this light-hearted, sweet romance of royal engagements. The Prince and the Pie Maker is the second in a series of royal romances that are beyond the common tale!
Shanae Johnson was raised by Saturday Morning cartoons and Afterschool Specials. She still doesn’t understand why there isn’t a life lesson that ties the issues of the day together just before bedtime. While she’s still waiting for the meaning of it all, she writes stories to try and figure it all out.
And by the way, the E elongates the A. So it’s pronounced Shan-aaaaaaaa. Perfect for a hero to call out across the moors, or up to a balcony. If you hear him calling her name, please send him her way!
My review today is on the Romance, The Prince and the Pie Maker. This is book two in The Rebel Royals Series. I really enjoy Shanae's work. I like that it's clean, humorous, and totally delightful. I know you are going to love this book. You have to love her characters.
In book one Playboy Prince Alexander met the best chef ever. His brother the king is marrying the pie maker's best friend. Alex wants no part of the throne or the royal life style. He tours the world looking for new delightful spices and dishes. He helps with food distribution and environmental projects around the world but lets the press make him look like a playboy out for one thing. In book one he brings the pie make to his country to enter a contest. He helps her and they win. Now he has decided he wants to open a restaurant with this amazing chef. Once he brings her over to his way of thinking he begins to have feeling for her.
Jan Peppers was left at the altar and if that wasn't bad enough she watched him marry his old girl friend at her wedding. Her family had paid for the wedding. She would never trust another man. Her ex owns half of her pie shop and is trying to stop her from doing new pies and experimenting with spices. She is at the end of her rope when the prince comes into her shop with an offer she can't refuse. Slowly this man is winning over her heart. How can she keep her heart safe?
A delightful journey into a royal kingdom. His backers want him to marry so that he will gain his inheritance as a safe guard on their investment. So they enter into a fake engagement, the press harass them, and everyone is up in arms. A truly delightful story.
The study started much differently than at I' d read previously then turned into such an interesting and sweet love story that I so enjoyed! It felt so real with these two very sweet friends who both were sure they had no interest in marriage , but in being business partners in a marvelous restaurant . However a beautiful love developed and fake engagement became very real. Great story!
Because both the prince and the pie maker were fairly well talked about in the first book, I wanted to read their love story too. I liked it, however, the proof reading was a tad sloppier in this one. I do like this author's stories. They are sweet, wholesome stories without a bunch of extra unnecessary sex.
Jan and Alex. The American pie maker and the Cardoba Prince. Both love baking, but can they open a restaurant together while fooling the nation with their fake engagement? Can there be a happily ever after for the jilted girl and the playboy prince? Find out in this "sweet" Romance! Happy Reading!
I loved this story,it is sort of a continuation of the first story with all the same characters! I hoped that they would get their own story and here it is. My only beef is with the depiction of her parents!!! I don't think anyone could be that indifferent to their own children!
A cute fairytale based story about a Prince and a pastry chef who collaborate together to open up a restaurant in the Prince's country. They fake an engagement in order to secure funding from the Prince's investors. It was a sweet romance about two foodies with a predictable storyline. I rate it 3.75*
This story was so cute! It was very anti-climatic, though. Seems like it was missing something. I really liked getting to know the characters and seeing Esme and Leo again.
A wonderful, fun, and fast moving storyline. I enjoyed seeing our characters from the first book and watching these two go from fake to real and their ways of protecting each other.
This book was quick and fun. Something to escape the everyday. The story was fun, and the author’s reference to the kitchen, culinary skills, spices and the senses was outstanding. I was mildly disappointed in the wording used at the ending. I wanted the rest of the story. Yes, there’s a HEA. But I wanted the conclusion to the story line regarding the restaurant, not just the couple. They wanted a business partnership, ... I wanted to see that succeed too.
