It isn’t within man to guide his own steps—or a woman.

Caught between a wagon train and the deep blue sea, Agnes Remington Dalrumple--Remi for short--chooses the overland journey west over crossing the Atlantic with her mother and step-father. Though she’s never been on her own, she decides to go to California and try to find the father she’s never known. Thwarted at every turn, almost every effort is dashed until a widower’s thirteen-year-old daughter intervenes on her behalf. How can the headstrong woman place herself under the responsibility of the young girl’s father, a perfect stranger? But if she doesn’t, her journey ends right there in Saint Joseph, Missouri. On the Oregon/California Trail, will her pride and independence deter her from the destiny God has prepared?
Asher Adams, a widower with two daughters and a desire to start anew has sold everything he owns and is headed to California with his recently wed sister and her husband. Born in California, Caryl McAdoo got to Texas in time to celebrate her first birthday. As a Dallas seventh grader, she remembers a homework essay on ‘What will you be doing in 2000?’ Looking into the future, she saw herself as an inter-galactically famous author, streaking from planet to planet signing books.

She laughs, “But I didn’t start writing again until the late ’80s, then was so blessed to find the DFW Writers’ Workshop in ’93.”

Her first book debuted ’99, then for the next nine years, she averaged a title a year from four traditional presses: two non-fiction, four novels, and three mid-grade chapter books.

In March 2014, her first historical Christian romance VOW UNBROKEN debuted from Howard Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster.

In April that year, she re-released LADY LUCK'S A LOSER (formerly The Apple Orchard Bed and Breakfast) with a new chapter. In September 2014 HEARTS STOLEN, book two in the Texas Romance Family Saga historical romance series, debuted as her first new Indie, and in November A LITTLE LOWER THAN THE ANGELS, her first Biblical fiction series The Generations launched. So four titles in 2014.

Book three of the historical Family Saga HOPE REBORN debuted in January 2015 to start off a whole new year with eleven new titles planned. THE PREACHER'S FAITH comes in February, Caryl's first contemporary in Red River Romance series. THEN THE DELUGE COMES, volume two of The Generations, follows in March.

Since 2014, she's published over sixty new books, averaging over seven new titles a year through 2020. She completed the 'Texas Romance Family Saga' with a total of ten novels, plus several 'Texas Companion Books'!

Plus, she's eight books into a second series, the 'Cross Timbers Romance Family Saga' and debuts a third New Beginnings saga's book one WAGONS WEST in November 2022, her fifth book for the year.

Also known as Grami, she adores twenty-five grandsugars, and she and O’Pa—her high school sweetheart and husband of fifty+ years write together. She’s dedicated to advancing God’s Kingdom through her novels, praying her story gives God glory!

Caryl loves to share her testimony, pray, and praise and worship Him; He frequently gives her new songs.

She believes all good things are from Him and that her books will minister His love, mercy, and grace to her readers.

Irving, Texas remained her lifelong home until 2008 when she and Ron followed God’s leading to Red River County in the far northeast corner of the Lone Star State. There at The Peaceable, the twenty acres of blessings they call home, the McAdoos raise chickens and goats while waiting for God to open the next door!

I enjoyed this read about the struggles that made this country great, the travel across our vast landscape in a wagon pulled by oxen. We get up close and personal with these folks, and our main characters are both woman. One a woman who has a desire to finally meet her father, and the other a bondswoman that she has bought to help her in her journey.
There is a bit of romance here, and the various trials that they meet along the way. Of course, there are some horrible tragedies that are met, and some darling little ones.
Learning to trust, and knowing you are not your mother, is another journey Remi has to overcome.
Do know that all is not answered in this book and you will need to move to the next read in this series to satisfy your answers.

I received this book through Celebrate Lit, and was not required to give a positive review.

I liked this story. Remi is a very independent woman and when her mother and her newest husband go to Europe she decides that she is going to look for her father in California. Her step-father gives her money as well as a healthy bank account to see she has a safe means to get there. Unfortunately, the wagon train will only take married couples or bachelor men, not single women. It would just be Remi and her bond-woman (who has rather loose morals, but is looking for someone to love her). One of Asher's daughters find Remi and suggests that her father be her benefactor on the trip and he agrees. It's a lot harder than any of them thought it would be, but with each other there to help it isn't as bad as it could have been.

This is a clean read.

This was a different kind of book for this author, but good, as always. She has a very versatile writing style, which makes her books even better. This particular book was mainly about learning to trust and love. I enjoyed it!

The first thing I noticed about “Remi” was the beautiful cover. The whimsical expression on her face was just perfect. I first met Remi in an earlier book so I was thrilled to see she had her own now. This is a Christian historical romance about two young women traveling from a Missouri to California via wagon train. Oh the things they see and do on this trip!

Caryl McAdoo is a masterful storyteller. It is easy to see that she researches her stories well, and that they are well planned, organized, and expertly written. This was one such book. Remi didn’t ask to be read. It demanded not to be put down until I had finished it. This is a page turning, quick read.

I was immediately invested in the life of this young woman. From page one I was engaged in the story and with the characters. I felt the turmoil Remi felt. Later I became acquainted with another character and the same thing happened. The writing took me to a place where I could imagine and relate with the people in the book.

Author McAdoo gives us characters that are quirky, lovable, and memorable. Using vivid descriptions she brings them to life and they become our new friends. Well, most of them. She knows how to conjure up a rascal, too. Remi’s mother was no Proverbs 31 woman. Edwina, the bondswoman, was a delightful, unique gal. I really enjoyed her.

The book flowed along at a fast pace. Author McAdoo has certainly done her research. As I read about their journey west, I felt like I was traveling with them. The descriptions were spot on. It was evident the author had done her research on this well planned and well organized book. It was not an easy trip to say the least. The Oregon Trail was full of unknown trials and struggles.

As in all of this author’s books, I did not need to wonder if this was a Christian fiction. It is plain by reading it that it is. There are plenty of inspirational messages in this Christian, historical, romantic fiction. Humor has been sprinkled into and I actually giggled while I read some parts - “I never dreamed oxen wore shoes.”

I loved the authentic dialog and even learned a new word or two. “....I have this balky tooth.” Not only was it the period but also Edwina was from England that kept the language different in this “lovely” book. Parts of the book did have some modern tones to them, but overall it sounded as though I was back in time.

This book is another gem in author McAdoo’s crown of achievements. It taught me about the Oregon Trail, being on a schooner, and even oxen. I love it when a book I am reading for fun teaches me things! There are life and inspirational lessons on faith, love, trust, guidance, hope, and forgiveness. Relationships between friends, family, and suitors are examples of good and bad and the author offers solutions.

I highly recommend this for anyone that enjoys historical fiction. It is an easy to read, sweet book. I rated it 5 out of 5 stars. A copy was provided by Celebrate Lit but I was under no obligation to write a review.

Can you hear the wagon wheels as they slowly go over rough terrain? Is that dust up ahead whipping in the wind? Will the wagons be safe as they travel to their destination? Those questions are answered in this adventure as we travel along with Remi. Oh how I liked this character so much. She decides to go to California to meet her father for the first time and leaves her old life behind.. I don't think she will be missed by her mother or step-father when they say they are going to be gone for a very long time. I admired Demi for being so strong and making arrangements for her own wagon and oxen.

I loved reading about the places Remi traveled through and how vivid the descriptions were. The author really did her research on this story as she traveled the Oregon/California trail herself which makes this story so special. Her heart is in this story as she experienced what it must have been like riding through rain and mud. I was very intrigued by the information about oxen. You don't hear much about these animals, but in the frontier they were in much demand. Their strength and endurance helped Demi as she steered them along the trail. I can't imagine what it would be like to travel by wagon for months with only what you have packed to survive on.

There is one point in the story where Remi has to navigate her wagon through a very dangerous slope. I held my breath as she looked over the path to plot her strategy. It is so easy to get drawn into the story because the writing makes you feel like you are beside Remi in the wagon. The story is full of surprises and emotional moments. Meeting Asher in the story was refreshing. An honest to goodness gentleman who has a heart of gold. I loved the obvious attraction Remi and Asher have for each other. It will take some time to see where this relationship goes as both have some emotional baggage to deal with. I loved how the author shares God throughout the story and how important it was for the characters to trust Him to keep them safe.

I really enjoyed the story and how much it reminded me of my granddad. He traveled by covered wagon from Kansas to Oklahoma to homestead his land. His stories are very similar to what Remi experienced on her travels. One of the best things about this author is that she makes her characters come alive with poetic words. She brings her readers into the story and gives them a front row seat as the adventure plays out right before their eyes. I didn't want the story to end because I was enjoying my journey on the trails and feeling like I was part of the amazing adventure. I can't wait to read the next book in this adventure.

I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

“...more than anything, she wanted to wake up and be out of that nightmare they called the Oregon Trail.” What a telling statement this is! Remi and her group are crossing a small desert; they have been up and down difficult mountains; seen disease and tragedies. Would this trip to Oregon/California be worth it all? It certainly was not the adventure we sometimes make it out to be in the 21st century. It was drudgery, hard work, and perseverance, plain and simple. In one place I had to laugh, but it was no laughing matter. Caryl McAdoo recounts the hardship of one part of the journey by describing one of the strongest men on the trail: “even his aches had pains.”

Remi by Caryl McAdoo, first caught my attention because it was about, of course, finding love on the Oregon Trail. The Oregon Trail is such a romantic setting for those of us who are too far removed to be able to understand how awful it was. I have read other books detailing the dangers, but I thank McAdoo for being so forthright in calling it a “nightmare.” That word woke me up a bit to the realization that I have been idealizing that dangerous, uncertain trip. Have you?
Another thing that caught my attention was McAdoo’s writing style. It was easily readable, a loose narrative that left room for thought. What impressed me, though, was that her “writing voice” was really quite different from each of the other two books I’ve read by her. I wonder what her voice in the next book will sound like? And I really do want to find out what happens to Sam and her little sister.
So many different lessons woven into the story. It seems we can learn from each character. And isn’t that what makes a wonderful story? I loved some quotes that I felt could apply to us today. So many times, when tragedy strikes, we tend to feel safer if we find out that we could not be potential victims. But for those on the trail, tragedies hit close to home... “Getting sick then dying is one thing, but an accident...that could happen to any one of us. That seems to make the loss worse.”
Next, another important quote, because I am learning the value of rejecting worrisome and negative thinking. “Though she failed at holding back her thoughts from wandering to her thirst or parched lips, or the sandy, dusty, hot trail she walked, she did force them from lingering there.” We CAN choose to control our thoughts and are encouraged and commanded in Scripture to do so. We can’t stop thoughts from entering our minds sometimes, but we don’t have to provide them permanent residence.
All in all, a book I would highly recommend. It may be a bit slow at first, but it will be worth it.

Heading West on a prairie schooner! Have I mentioned how much I love historical fiction when it includes wagon trains? I don't think I have. I grew up with these stories and while I stopped reading them for a while, Caryl McAdoo has revived the passion.

The Oregon Trail was no joke and Caryl McAdoo does true justice to the hardships and danger along the trail.

With quirky characters, detailed settings, and always with a steady thread of Godliness, Remi adds to the expansive list of books I've loved reading. Sometimes, the characters say something that feels too modern...I even looked up a few words to see when they were first used...and I never found one that was outside its timeline. Look at that, reading that led to research!

There's an unmistakable sense of humor in Caryl McAdoo's writing. Her characters are realistic and there is always character growth. Remi is determined that she doesn't need a man. Maybe she doesn't need one in her life, but she's gonna need one to get her and her bondwoman as part of the next wagon train.

Trouble seems to find Remi around every turn of the trail and there's no shortage of tragedy. After meeting Remi in Uniquely Common, I knew she'd be a firecracker and she didn't disappoint.

I just know Sam is going to get her own book one of these days. Her journal entries were a close favorite in Remi and Uniquely Common. Young love is so full of passion and angst, especially when you're barely a teenager and half the world separates you from your love.

This beautifully written story quickly pulled me in even though historical romance is not one of my favorite genres. When Remi’s mother and husband decide to go to Europe, Remi opts not to join them and instead decides to travel west to find her birth father. But it is a long, hard journey to California and she learns that even being female is an obstacle that the must overcome before being able to make the difficult cross- country trip. Fortunately, Asher Adams, a widower with two daughters steps up to the plate so that she can join a wagon train going west.

The trip is long, dangerous, and stressful, but with the help of her bond woman and other travelers, Remi sets off in hope of realizing her dream. In addition to being drawn to the well-developed characters in this story, readers also learn about the hardships of traveling by wagon train. We can visualize the terrain and hold our breath as they cross especially hazardous areas.

I cannot leave out the threads of romance in this story. Will any of them lead to true love and marriage or will hearts be crushed? Keep in mind that this is a Christian romance, so there are references to the Church and to God.

I was fortunate to win a copy of this book as a prize in a Facebook group party with no promise requested or made of a positive review. However, I am thrilled to say that this story quickly captured my attention and kept me turning pages. Any opinion expressed here is strictly my own.

As our author always does, she presents us with a strong female lead that is relatable but a totally unique individual at the same time. Remi certainly fills the bill- feisty, yet introverted. The realities of traveling to the west in that time frame were certainly perilous, and our heroine is truly clueless though refuses to appear weak to any men, and convinces herself men are not in the cards for her in this venture. Seemingly the antithesis of her mother, she is determined to make a fresh start, but in order to do that she needs help, which is where our hero walks in- again very relatable, down to earth but unique. What I always appreciate is that our author always includes a good dose of Scriptural truth and our characters slowly realize more and more about it through the storyline. I felt the plot was a steady pace without being too out there, though I felt the background may have been a little less realistic than it might have been. If you are looking for historical fiction, really sweet romance, enjoy a strong Christian base in your books, or just enjoy a tale around a strong female lead, this one is for you.

I received a complimentary copy of this book, and all opinions given are entirely my own.

I enjoyed the historical setting of this book. I'm a big fan of stories relating to the California/Oregon trails, and it was obvious the author had done her research. The details of the scenery and the struggles they faced every day on the trail were made all the more realistic. I could feel their exhaustion by the end of the day.
Remi is such an independent and brave young woman! I was taken aback at her determination to make her way out west on her own. I can't believe how difficult it would have been for a woman to decide to travel all the way across the country with no male escort. The prospect would have been daunting. But as you get to know Remi better, you understand her bravery doesn't extend to all aspects of her life, and I was touched by insecurities related to her non-traditional upbringing. I enjoyed watching her battle the doubts in her heart and try to find her way.
I must confess my favorite part of the book was young Samantha. Her youthful optimism and lovesick letters were quite entertaining. I loved reading the journal she kept and seeing the wagon train through her unique perspective. It will be interesting to continue with her story in another book!

Remi is the second book of the Prairie Roses collection, and I have to say I enjoyed reading this book as much as I did reading the first book, Uniquely Common. The brief glimpse of Remi in this book captured my imagination and made me want to read more.

This book tells the story of Remi – Agnes Remington Dalrumple. As a book that chronicles the difficulties of traveling on the Oregon Trail, it also includes the element of finding love. As someone who gets terribly seasick, Remi decides to not sail with her mother and stepfather, but instead to go across the Oregon Trail so she can find her father.

Because no self-respecting woman travels alone Remi engages Edwina Blaine as a traveling companion. Unfortunately, the Wagon Master has a policy of not allowing any women to travel alone, so they have to find a male to travel with or be forced to stay behind. Fortunately, the daughter of one the male volunteers on the wagon train becomes involved in convincing her father to help the two women. The book is definitely worth reading to find out how the story turns out.

I received a copy of this book for my fair and honest review.

"Remi" by Caryl McAdoo picks up where "Uniquely Common" ends but even if a reader hasn't read "Uniquely Common" I think this would still be a great read for them.

I really enjoyed reading about the journey these characters were taking because while I was reading I kept thinking about a computer games I remembered playing at the library with my son and daughter called Oregon Trail. I know this book wasn't like the game, but it brought the game to my mind.

The scenes were written so well I could pictured them in my mind as I was reading. The last couple of chapters brought tears to me, both because of the joy and the sorrow that these characters faced. Like of her other books, Caryl McAdoo has written the plans of salvation into the story without preaching.

This story is a story full of heart and makes a believer more aware that God really does it all under control. Yes, life is full of heartaches but if we place it in His hands, all things works for our good even if it doesn't appear that way at first.

I was given a complimentary copy by the author and Celebrate Lit. These opinions are mine.

Remi's character was refreshing. A young woman with conviction, a loving heart, and an unsure future. One of the things I loved about this book is the in-depth relatable characters which I came to love.

Among a wagon train of pioneers heading west, Remi encounters a world of harshness and struggles, but also one of hope. Can she learn to trust her heart and believe in the love she feels for a widower with two young daughters?

The descriptions of the Oregon Trail west and the forts along the way made me feel like I was with the characters as their journey unfolded. I could sense God's love within the pages of the story.

This book has all the elements that make up a great story. It's inspiring and uplifting and brings historical flavor to the tale as well.

The ending wrapped everything up nicely. The author never disappoints and I can't wait to read the next installment in the series.

WOW, another great book by Caryl McAdoo!! Caryl McAdoo has FAST become one of my favorite authors and this book is no exception!

Remi decides to go to California to try to find the Dad she has never know. She takes the Oregon Trail to get to California. She experiences many trials and frustrations on her journey, but she never lets it deter her. Meanwhile, Asher Adams, a widow with 2 daughters is also making the journey to California with his sister and her husband. He wants to start over, but could a romance be too soon or is he ready? The main characters, Remi and Asher, really are quite interesting and their "love story" is also interesting to read about.

Remi is Book #2 in the Prairie Roses book series and I am very much looking forward to reading the next book in the series! This series is written by 5 different authors and it looks interesting! Caryl McAdoo is a MUST Read author, as she is very talented and stays true to the History Era she is writing about! GREAT Book!

I have been waiting for this book since I read "Uniquely Common". "Remi" picks up where that story leaves off and so worth the wait. I love Remi and how she faces the hardship of traveling to California even though she had no idea of how hard it would be for her. She isn't prepared as she thinks she is even after signing on an assistant to help her. She finds herself under the protection of a gentlemen who has two very smart but mischievous daughters. He's quite a few years older than her and she's not sure she trusts her heart. Neither does he. The trail is long and the traveling is hard but together they just might find hidden treasures along the path that will bring joy and a happily ever after.

Blessings,

Karen Hadley

Probably should have been called "Remi and Edwina"....the maid's story was almost as much in the spotlight as Remi's.
When Remi's Mother travels to Europe, Remi decides to join a Wagon Train and go find her father in California. She takes over Edwina's contract as a servant so she'll have a companion along the way. Remi doesn't realize that single women aren't allowed in the wagon train. But, luckily, a young girl convinces her Father to let Remi travel under his care. Samantha just has to get them to fall in love, and she'll have a new mom.
Asher is happy to see his daughters thriving due to Remi's attention. Could she be a new mom for them?
This is a clean, sweet romance. It was a bit long and slow in spots. I wasn't crazy about Edwina's story but overall the book was ok.

Would sea travel have been easier?

Many hardships are faced. Those in the wagon train learn to depend on each day they live and work together. Lives are lost and new lives are started. Dreams are questioned in a place where there is no turning back. Riding a car from St. Joseph to California is hard enough making the trip by covered wagon was a harsh reality for many settlers. What if you were 13 and dreaming of your first love, the boy you left behind? The beautiful young, Remi, looks like the perfect second wife for Sam's father. I look forward to learning more about this group of characters in the future.

This was a very cute story and well written for it’s genre. The story follows Remi, and her supporting characters, as she makes the trip from New York to California. These characters are engaging and intriguing. This story is not one I would have normally picked up but I had the privilege of reading through Celebrate Lits blogging group. Remi’s desire to find her birth father and to avoid mishaps of romance, that her mother always fell into, was relatable for any reader. I love that she thought she had her life figured out but it wasn’t until she fell into complete surrender that she understood what she truly needed to do.

I think the characterization within this story was very well done. I am a reader who enjoys very clear character descriptions. Although Mcadoo didn’t do that she was able to paint a picture of the characters through their actions and the description of their personality. I think the story had fantastic resolution, albeit abrasive, but it also allowed it self enough of an open ending to entice readers to the next book.

My only critique for this story was the dialect. I think it is great to use the dialogue to help us understand the characters. However, Edwina was supposed to be from Europe and spoke like a hick. This caused some issues in the understanding of the characters. I, also, think that Mcadoo could have been a little more clear with who the speaker was at any given moment. This story was written in third person omniscient and that could get a little confusing when she was skipping between speakers.

Remi

I could see when I finish the book I need to read the next one in the series. It will be about Samantha who was in this book a lot. I do love these kind of books. The time period when traveling was much different from today. Horseback, stagecoach, ship but no cars yet.

Remi decided she would travel to her fathers place but did not want to by ship. So she has to find other ones going her same way. She meets a lot of different ones with the wagon train. I enjoyed the children that were with them.

I received a complimentary copy of the book from Celebrate Lit. I was not required to write an positive. This is my own opinion.

It was good to catch up with the Adams family. Caryl McAdoo tells such wonderful stories with interesting characters. In this book we get to meet Remi, Edwina, Dusty and other members of the wagon train. Her descriptions of the trip west make it very real and you almost feel their aches and pains. The only bad thing about this book is how long it is going to be before we get to find out what happens with Samantha and Silas. It amazes me how fast children grew up during this time. I absolutely loved this book.

Asher and Remi

Remi and her bondwoman, Edwina are on their way to Saint Joseph,Montana to travel by wagon train to California to find her long list father. Only to be told they would not allow two single women to travel alone on the wagon train. Asher Adams family comes to their rescue by allowing the two single women's wagon to travel with his family. They have all the expected hardships on the road toward their end destination. They also find love and happiness. You will definitely enjoy reading this story.

Wagon train story you do not want to miss!

This story was a lot of fun to read! I always enjoy a wagon train adventure, and this one does not disappoint! remind I bit of a pampered young lady who thinks she can travel from NY to San Francisco without any man's assistance! Boy was she in for a surprise, lol!

What I really liked was how the author did not shy away from the hardship a wagon train faced back then, but all the while the main characters follow God's leading through out the journey.

I was blessed to get this book as a gift, and all opinions are entirely my own!

I thought this was a great book. It was written as a follow-up to Uniquely Common but can be read as a stand alone. I loved reading about Remi’s wagon train journey west. I liked how the author was able to show some of the hardships that people traveling like that went through. I also liked how she showed the inner struggle that Remi went through between her feelings for Asher and what she knew from watching her mother. Edwina’s story was a great one, also. I would recommend this book.

While not quite a 5-star book for me, this book was still an okay read. There were numerous mistakes where little words were missing (like “to”, etc) and where she added colloquialisms that didn’t fit with the voice of the speaker.
Overall, the author had a good plot and a good story-line that drew me in even while the story seemed slow.
Cheryl McAdoo depicted life on the Oregon/California trail for what it was: a nightmare. And I think it’s neat that she chose to follow it herself in preparation for writing this book.

Hopping aboard a prairie schooner and heading west is a trail thousands of people took. This book gives us on a small glimpse of what that journey was like and the struggles that came along with it.

The Oregon Trail is a part of what makes America what is it. This books does a great job at bringing to life the harsh realities and true dangers of what the dream of settling out west really meant and testing the grit of the people who dared to take that challenge.

I loved the characters in this book. Especially Remi. A well written tale that takes us along the famous Oregon Trail.

In this pre Civil War historical romance (1853), Agnes Remington Dalrumple is determined to forge her way to California to meet your biological father. Her mother's fourth husband, who is wealthy and generous supplies funds and advice. Remi and her bondwoman travel together with Asher Adams a widower with two daughters. Inspiring characters, several love stories, twist and turns, with a believable resolution. My complaints: the book needed editing in content and format and a rather abrupt ending. The hardships along the California Trail are described.

What an awesome story! This book highlights the harsh reality of traveling across the United States back in 1853. The story is mostly told from the perspective on Asher Adams' 13 year old daughter. Remi has absolutely no idea of the hardships she and her bondwoman will encounter. First the wagon master won't allow single women in the wagon train and that's how Remi meets Asher. Let the wagons roll and let God lead us to our new home! You won't want to put this book down!

Strong willed!!

I was truly surprised with Remi and her determination for going west on a wagon train! City girl becomes Prairie woman! I enjoyed reading the story of Remi and Asher! She proves herself to be a tough pioneer woman! This story of love, adventure, and a little matching making of the daughters. Remi truly looks deep within herself for her faith to find the love she’s always wanted! Great characters and wonderfully written.

the patience of a man

I throughly enjoyed riding the Oregon Trail with Remi her character showed compassion towards motherless children, her bond woman and eventually herself. She was raised in privilege yet learned how to walk beside her oxen. She showed restraint in her interactions with her benefactor. A HEA story which will not disappoint. I heartily recommend this book to everyone.

Traveling across the United States in a covered wagon with strangers was quite the experience for this city girl. I enjoyed traveling along with this strong young lady and seeing all her  new experiences through her eyes.  Animals, children and the hazards of the trail made this an interesting journey.
