I think this is my favorite of what I've read of Cami Checketts so far. I loved the stubbornly stoic Grimm, and the way he can't get over his first love, the fun and lovely Scarlet Lilly. Thankfully- or maybe not so thankfully- she's not over him either. So when he's assigned to protect her, it becomes a battle of wills- he doesn't want to let anyone love him because he thinks he's unforgiveable, and she already loves him and has forgiven him. And I'm pretty sure Sutton is actually using the security personnel thing as a front for his real passion: match-making. Or maybe it's his wife who is doing the side-business there. Because something is definitely fishy here...

I so love reading about all the members of the Quinn family, Griff is no exception. Scarlet is perfect for him and has the confidence and history with him to stand up to all of his indifference. Watching a true hero deal with all the trauma that comes with the job is heart-wrenching. Yet, determined friends and loved ones help this hero turn to the Lord for strength to overcome his demons. I love Scarlet's faith and the chemistry between she and Griff. So fun to watch Jasmine's reactions to Griff as his sister-in-law too!

Not really much substance or plot to this story. At times, extremely unrealistic. It was ok though and similar to the others in the series.

The Tough Warrior: Navy Seal Romance: Quinn Family Romance Book 4 is by Cami Checketts. This book is a good, quick read that has plenty of action and romance to suit almost any reader. It continues the Quinn family stories.
Griff Quinn was unhappy with his boss, Sutton. He had worked for Sutton since he had gotten out of the SEALS and had been in many very dangerous situations. He was one of the two men who were best in action situations. Now, Sutton was sending him on a glorified babysitting job and he wasn’t happy. The lady he was to guard had a million-dollar price tag on her for her kidnapping and being taken to the person paying for her. Griff had no use for such a person, especially when the victim was someone he knew. Scarlet Lily was a well-known actress and one who was widely liked. Before that, she had been Jane Monroe who he had known and loved in college. However, Griff was going into the military and knew that he planned to help anyone who needed help regardless of the risk to him. He didn’t want Jane to have to live with the knowledge that he could be killed every time he went on a mission or to live as a widow, so he had broken up with her. That didn’t mean he didn’t still love her; but, he thought it would be better for her to go on with her life rather than wait for him. Now, Sutton wanted him to be her bodyguard! How was Griff going to handle this close quarters situation? What would Scarlet Lily (or Jane Monroe’s) reaction be?

The bad news...
There's a ton of physical attraction that is consistently mentioned and gets rather exasperating, though not graphic. We get it, you find each other hot.
Also, there is a dizzying amount of Jane wanting Griff to kiss her or show that he still loved her, only to not have that happen, over and over and OVER again. At some point I was hoping Jane would have a little more dignity. I get she was fighting for him, trying to show him he was worthy of being loved, but it got to be too much.
Finally, while we got an abundance of the merry-go-round of longing and staunch denial from both Griff and Jane in their own ways; when it came time for Griff to choose to change from the inside out, that part was very rushed and short.
The good news...
Everything else was really good. The scene in the snowy woods, the action, and the love these two have for each other -once that finally came about- was very nice to read.

I felt like this story spent a long time on the romance and not that much time in battle with the bad guys. I kept waiting for the bad guys to show and it wasn't happening. Kinda felt a little long in the middle there where nothing was happening. The romance had basically stalled and the intrigue wasn't happening. I'd been happy to cut some of that out and just move the story along.
I liked Griff quite a bit even if he was a little dense about love. Scarlett sometimes bugged me with being super dramatic and almost a little whiny. But I liked that she was tough and could fight to try to save herself.

The first page grabs the reader's attention and holds firm to the very end. Jane and Griff's love show that the heart wants what the heart wants no matter how long it has to wait. The twists, turns and surprises while Griff is guarding Jane keeps the story interesting and entertaining. Jane understood enough of what Griff trued to tell her that she was able to let him go to Peru and wait for him. Their love is the love everyone hopes for but only a few ever find. It was a joy to read this book see them find their happy ending.

I have just discovered Cami Checketts' thoughtful writing. I appreciate the faithfulness of the flawed characters, their commitment to their beliefs, and their willingness to seek help through God. These aren't stories of 'in your face Christianity' or even high handed morality, but rather hope and most importantly love.
This story was a difficult one to read as it was a reminder of the decisions that we make related to who we are and what we do, essentially our DECISION to not feel worthy and truly believe that we aren't worthy.

Excellent as always!
Cami has quickly become my favorite Romance Novelist. She has the perfect combination of Godly clean romance, adventure and humor to keep you on the edge of your seat in suspense while also laughing, reflecting on your faith and at times tearing up. Her books are enjoyable and hard to put down once you start reading them. I highly recommend this book and the Quinn series.

Loved it!
Griff is the ex-Seal , if there is such a thing, and Scarlett Lily, or Jane, the popular movie star. They were a thing in college but then he was deployed and left her hanging. No explanation, no nothing! Fast forward ten years and she needs protection. Griff is assigned to be her protector. He wanted to guard her heart as well as his own while he protected her physically but could be really be that cold hearted? Great book!

Griff is a strong warrior, but this new assignment to take care of Scarlett was more than he wanted. His old sweetheart, but he had to leave her years ago for his work so he could concentrate on killing the enemy. He was strong and needed. But she had a large $$$$ on her head. Could he rescue her and keep her at a distance. Scarlett the actress had loved Griff as long as she could remember and seeing him again was more than she could take. Can they work it out?

Beautiful, emotional and filled with moments that remind us that love finds us on its own time line and fate definitely has a hand in it. I LOVED IT!! Stephen Dexter does an amazing job portraying the characters, bringing them to life and humanizing them with their emotions, attitude and personality. He does more than giving their characters their voices, he falls into the roles and becomes the characters.

Great story
A great story. Griff, a Sutton security employee was selected to protect an actress.
Scarlet thought her home was secure. She had security, plus her neighborhood security. But that evening she closed the blinds & felt a little apprehensive, for good cause.

Sassy, heartfelt, and filled with the heart of a warrior. I loved the action heroin reuniting with her real life hero. But, will the real life struggles of war tear them apart? Swoon-worthy reading. Warning: Once you start reading Cami Checketts, you’ll find it hard to stop reading all her books! Action, adventure, mystery and romance. Loved it!

It wasn't quite what I expected but it was a decent read. I've got similar plot issues with the other books in the series where I just feel like it could have been shaped out more.
Characters were relatable but not my favourites in this series.

Griff is the toughest of the Quinn brothers. He is tough inside and out. He has seen too much and been forced to do things that he thinks make him unredeemable. He has loved Scarlett-who he knew as Jane- for more than a decade, but thinks he is unworthy of her love. A cute and easy read.

Rating 2.5. I have mixed feelings about this story. There was so much time alone together bashing things out. Then skimmed over everything in Peru. I would have thought this was going to be a romantic suspense story but it did not really rise to that level.

Caring too much!
Sometimes you just can't resist those old feelings. This was a wonderful and exciting story of a love discarded but not deleated. I always enjoy Cami Checketts' books. She is one of my favorite authors.
