Kellie McAllen is a USA Today Bestselling author who has her nose in a book whenever she can. When she's not reading or writing, she's usually hanging out at the beach, guest judging on DWTS (from her living room), or watching cute cat videos. She lives in North Carolina.
Luna has been feeling off lately - weird cravings, restless, almost can’t stay still in her own skin.
She’s been warned by her father and brother to stay awake from the bad boy in her class, Nikko. But she agrees to go out on a date with him.
So imagine to her surprise, she starts to initiate sex on the first date and turns into a werewolf. A female werewolf, which is apparently rare.
Nikko bites her out of instinct and apparently claims her. This goes as well as you would expect from a girl who has been on one date with a guy.
“We’re not together, Nikko. I don’t care what kind of claim you think you have on me! You took advantage of my ignorance, but I won’t let you do that again.”
Their dads are rivals so it’s awkward. Kind of like Romeo and Juliet. But without the teen suicide. They just run off.
It was alright.
Recommend if you want a YA urban fantasy with stereotypical werewolves.
Both Luna and Nikko have been warned to stay away from each other. One day, unbeknownst to Luna, she goes into heat and Nikko becomes the forbidden fruit that she desires more than anything. However, trouble arises after one night together, threatening to ruin their lives as they know it.
It’s a book about a girl coming to terms with who she is and this new world that she had no idea existed. It’s fast paced and relatively action-packed. My problem with the pacing is that I’m not really sure how much time has passed. I don’t want to give too much away, but it feels as though everything is happening within the span of like 4 days, which seems like a very short amount of time considering everything that happens. I guess that’s a thing that happens with books that are short.
Things I liked: - The interactions between Luna and Zander. There are so many books out there that don’t capture sibling relationships very well, this one is very realistic. They have banter, they give each other shit, but they’re still protective of one another. - I like the way the book starts and how oblivious she is to what’s happening to her. It feels very natural. - The fact that Avril Lavigne’s music was involved. Love my Scene Queen. - The interaction between Luna and her father.
Things I didn’t like: - Daddy. - I can deal with it being used once to reference her father, but not every single time. She’s like 17. It’s like when Veronica from Riverdale called Hiram Daddy. It just makes me cringe. - Nikko is supposed to be an alpha, but it seems as though Zander (who is younger and smaller) is way stronger than him and displays much more alpha-like behaviour. I don’t want to go as far as to say Nikko is weak, but he seems like the weakest out of everyone. In fact, I can’t even remember any proper alpha-like actions he has taken. - The relationship between Nikko and Luna isn’t bad, but I feel like the constant limbo isn’t too great. It’s like, she’s threatening him and then a second later she singing with him in a car. - Speaking of their relationship, it developed so gosh dang quick. You know me, I hate insta-love. While this one wasn’t as bad, things went from 0-100 real quick, the fact that there wasn’t a true indicator of how much time has passed didn’t really help that. - I feel like the solution to the problem was so easy. Like, they go away for a day or two and then they’re back and ready to fight. I know the whole idea of going is to introduce this whole hidden world of fantasy creatures, but I feel as though it might have been a more interesting story - and definitely have more tension - if they stayed whilst the threat of war was going on. That’s just me, though.
Wolf Claimed is the first book in the Supernatural Sanctuary serie, a new serie by Kellie McAllen.
Luna has been warned to stay away from Nikko, his family and his friends for as long as she can remember. But she always had a crush on him. And one morning he shows interest and with her father away she can resist any longer. But what had to be the best night of her life turns dark when she turns into a werewolf...... and Nikko does too. Luna is the first she-wolf in generations and Nikko claims her as his mate, against her will. He knows that claiming her will guarantee getting on his fathers good side for once.
When Luna is put in the middle of a beginning pack war that puts everyone she loves at risk, can she find a way to save everyone she loves without sacrificing her freedom.
I really loved this book. I love Kellie McAllen's writing style and the beginning of this new series. Can wait for the second book.
I received an ARC from Ms. McAllen, and this is my honest review. This is the first book of Ms. McAllen's that I have read. Luna is a teenager who is suddenly feeling very antsy with a voracious appetite. Nikko is a werewolf who not only attends Luna's high school, but he is also next in line to become alpha. Nikko and Luna have been warned respectively by their fathers to stay away from each other. When Luna and Nikko share a night of unbridled passion, Luna unknowingly releases her wolf and Nikko claims Luna as his mate. In order to stall a werewolf bawl between their families, Nikko and Luna both decide to leave their respective family and town in order to keep the peace. As Nikko tries to woe Luna and have her accept him. Ms. McAllen draws us in to a modern Romeo and Juliette, but without as much death. I found the characters both likeable and some I could not stand. Wolf Claimed is a complete story that captures the reader and holds her hostage until the end. I enjoyed Wolf Claimed. Thank you Ms. McAllen. I look forward to reading more of your work.
This is a new series by Kellie McAllen and reading it is easy and relatively quick. The story has a lot of emotion, romance and a bit of suspense. This is a sort of Romeo and Juliet type story with a twist. Luna has always been warned to stay away from Nikko, but at some point, she decides not to listen to her father's warnings and indulge in the attraction she feels for Nikko. What they didn't know was that the most exciting night of their lives would end up putting them and their families at risk. The chemistry between Luna and Nikko is huge, but will they be able to face all the dangers that arise? I loved the story and the characters and I recommend the reading.
This is Wolf Claimed book 1 of Kellie McAllen’s Supernatural Sanctuary series. I liked this book. It has a sweet and fresh quality to it since the wolf is still a teenager. Secrets are revealed to Luna and she is faced with a whole new reality. How will she accept the paranormal? Will she embrace it or run away howling?? Great book!
I really enjoyed this book. The wolf situation made her grow up faster. I didn’t like the whole girls exclusion club part but it turned out that the MC didn’t like it either.
This she wolf has me in knots. I think it might be a love hate relationship we have going on. Here's what I loved. Luna starts out being off and angsty. She's going crazy on the inside, her scent is off and so is her personality. In comes Nikko. Hot werewolf stud. They are overcome with each other. That beginning is awesome. Rival packs, clueless female and surprisingly her clueless family who should have sensed her changing. It all worked. Then it didn't. Here's what I didn't like. Luna gets all hot...as in so hot she can not...I repeat she can not control her desire, her libido and basically attacks Nikko. He has no idea she's a wolf so when that happens when they're all nasty, his wolf reacts and claims her. Nothing is deemed her fault and Nikko is held responsible for ALL of it. Nope. She's at fault, her family is at fault but somehow this amazingly fierce character called Nikko gets neutered. Neutered by Luna, by her family and his dad. Nope. Not working for me. Especially since Luna keeps making stupid decisions throughout most of the book and blaming Nikko for everything. It wasn't bad but the tone just flips from the beginning. I liked it better when Nikko was written as an alphas son rather Lunas punching bag just to show girl power.
*Note. I received an ARC from the author and this is my honest review for Wolf Claimed by Kelly MCAllen, a first book in Supernatural Sanctuary series.
Was Wolf Claimed by Kellie MCAllen something unique and very special? No. Did I enjoy this book? Yes, very much so.
It was an exciting, sweet, light, fun and all around entertaining read. It had a cute forbidden romance and an intriguing supernatural premises with very promising beginning for a new book series. I liked Nikko and Luna, also their romance was beautiful and sweet.
If you are looking for a fast, light, cute and entertaining YA paranormal romance, just to distract yourself from your everyday life, then this book is perfect for that purpose. If you are looking for a deep and life changing literary masterpiece, then look somewhere else ;)
Overall, I loved this book and will be checking out some other books from this author, as this was my first book of Kelly MCAllen.

Total Score: 5/5
Summary: Luna has always followed along with her father’s requests without question. She has liked Nikko for a long time, but kept her distance that is until recently when everything changed. Luna, a vegetarian, began to have cravings for meat, feelings of being very powerful, and the need to run. Luna’s father and brother have been keeping a secret form her and her mother, they are werewolves! Now there have not been any female werewolves for as long as anyone can remember so they never thought it could be a possibility. Nikko knew form the moment Luna entered school that something was different and he couldn’t stay away form her. HE just wasn’t what was going on until she changed in front of him changing both of their lives forever. The undeniable attraction between Luna and Nikko forced them to look at their lives and each other with new eyes accepting what they once thought was impossible. Nikko was willing give up everything to protect Luna showing her that his act of claiming her was more instinctual than purposeful. Luna left to save her family, but her allowing Nikko to go with her opened them up to a possible future together. I was intrigued to the Supernatural Sanctuary where shifters of all kinds were accepted. I for one can’t wait to find out more about the other individuals living at the sanctuary.
A new start to a series with the unfailing quality of imagination & creativity I have come to expect from Kellie McAllen Novels. This author has taken a storyline of Girl Meets Boy, Family feuds. Protection & loyalty, love & hate and a whole load of problems created when Luna’s true heritage emerges. Everything is frightening and nothing is understood while she try’s to accept her life will never be the same again. She makes the only decision she can think of that hopefully will end the troubles, that exploded into her world within minutes, robbing her of her family & friends. On her journey to understand this new world and life, the boy who is somewhat responsible joins her on the road, to find a mystical Sanctuary that hopefully will give them the shelter & peace needed. However not everyone is pleased about the couples arrival. Sparks fly. Mistakes are made. What is stronger Love or Hate ?. There is only one avenue left open for them, & that’s to Fight !. Any young adult fantasy lover who likes Warewolves, Vampires, Witches, Fairy’s and many more supernatural figures will find it in Wolf Claimed. There is no cliffhanger ending, but I hope this is not the last time we read about Luna & Nikko. Those of you who already know the work of Kellie McAllen will know she will take you away from your reality and keep you there until the last word. She keeps you on the edge of your seat as her characters come alive around you. Places & emotions become your norm as everything around you slips away. If this is your first adventure into a Kellie McAllen novel, then don’t stop here, while we all wait for book.2. In this exciting new series, check out her other books, you won’t be disappointed.
I volunteered to read an Advanced Reader Copy of this book and to submit an honest review.
Once again, Kellie McAllen has released a dynamite supernatural book. In Wolf Claimed, Luna Ammon has been feeling feverish and achy; she didn't feel sick though - just off, weird. Luna's best friend, Macy, had turned her into a vegetarian; however, when she smelled the bacon her mother was cooking for breakfast, she craved the meat so bad that she had to eat it.
At school, she found herself attracted to Nikko Brisbane, the school bad boy that her father and younger brother told her to stay away from as he and his father were bad news. In fact, they were werewolves just as Luna's father and brother were; her mother and her had no clue. When Nikko saw Luna that day, he immediately was drawn to her, something that never happened in the past.
That coming weekend, her father and brother were going hunting, so she secretly arranged to meet Nikko - her father and brother would never know. When Luna and Nikko met up, all started out well until Luna herself changed into a wolf for the first time. Luna was petrified; Nikko had changed as well which scared her even more. A she-wolf is very rare. Nikko knew that claiming Luna as his mate would guarantee his position in his pack.
Without Luna knowing it, he claimed her as his mate. Luna is petrified to go home, especially since she doesn't know how to change back into her human form. There is plenty of action and drama.
Wolf Claimed is a definite must read if you like the supernatural and shifter genre.

That's one hell of an exciting first book. Action packed and thrilling as a story you can definetely say that this book is a page turner. Nicely written characters with depth and the world building was intresting as well. I really liked this book and it opens a road for more to follow which i can't wait for. A great read!
Great exciting first book in a new paranormal series from Kellie. Luna, the first female werewolf, has to get used to both physically & mentally, when she suddenly starts to metaphosis into her new lycan form; along with strong hormonal urges & heightened senses! She finds herself overcome with desire for bad boy, Nikko, from the rival pack &, subsequently, ends up being 'claimed' by him & expected to now join his pack as his mate! Horrified at what's happened/expected & to save her family & pack from Nikko's violent father, now threatening their safety; she flees to try & find the rumoured site of a place where supernatural beings like her can find sanctuary. Will she be able to find it; will she be safe there if she does, will her family & pack survive & what becomes of her bond with Nikko. Look forward to the next book in the series & highly recommend this & any other of Kellie's excellent books.
OMG! Wow! Man, talk about one action packed, fast paced, heart pounding, pulse racing, adrenaline pumping, hard hitting, page turning bombshell that captivates from the start. All the ups and downs, ins and outs, along with a few glitches and grinds make for an unpredictable experience. Talk about some crazy events but this one really got to me. Kellie totally nailed this bad boy with such realism it rocked my world. Her characters and scenes are so realistic and believable. She writes with such passion that weaved into every page throughout the entirety. All the drama and suspense keeps you focused on the pages and frozen to your seat waiting for the next show to drop. She uses such graphically detailed descriptions it really pulls this little treasure together beautifully. Kellie did a remarkable job bringing this read to life. Fantastic job Kellie, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.
Awesome read. Well written with a great plot and characters. I was absorbed from beginning to end. Fast paced, intense, action packed read with a bit of Romance thrown in. Luna is a typical high school girl, until she wakes up one day as a werewolf ......the first in generations. She knows nothing about werewolves until she is thrust into their world. Nikko, is next in line to be alpha of his pack, he is furiously attracted to Luna, discerning she is to be his mate. Luna is attracted to Nikko but stays away because her father told her to. Nikko and Luna's family feud reignites, so they escape to prevent a war between their packs. Nikko and Luna find a supernatural sanctuary filled with other misfit/ homeless creatures, and they are also struggling with the mate bond. Fantastic start to a new series.....can't wait to read the next book!
Luna is your typical high school girl, until she wakes up one day as a werewolf - the first in generations. She knows nothing about werewolves until she is suddenly thrust into their world. Nikko, in line to be the next alpha of his pack, is intensely attracted to Luna, realizing she is his mate.
The action in this story is fast-paced and intense. When Nikko and Luna's family feud reignites, they must escape to prevent an all-out war between the packs. Their escape is fraught and action-packed, with the pair finding a supernatural sanctuary filled with other misfit or homeless creatures while at the same time struggling with the mate bond.
This is a fun and fast-moving adventure, with a healthy dose of young romance added to the mix. A promising start to a new series.
This is a voluntary review of an ARC of the story.
This was an interesting and awkward read. I liked Luna, even if she didn’t always make the smartest decisions. Nikko is kind of a jerkish wimp, but at least he grows quite a bit. The characters all make sense and compel the story. My issue is more with the world. Why not tell wives or sisters about the fact that you’re a wolf shifter and part of a pack? Doesn’t their obliviousness put them in danger? How do they keep something like that a secret from someone so integral to their lives? The sanctuary was cool and I wanted to get to know the characters, but Luna and Nikko were there for so short a time. Plus, they went against a pretty big rule there and they never face those consequences. I liked a lot of the wolfy parts. The ending was satisfying enough if a little open.
Wolf Claimed was a fast paced, exciting read with a stubborn and sassy cast. It’s worth checking out.
I wasn’t 100% sure what to expect in this new young adult paranormal romance series, but I have enjoyed Kellie McAllen’s previous series (especially the high holiday series), so I had high hopes!
I was not disappointed... I was pleased that this new series is a set of individual stories within the same overarching setting involving the Supernatural Sanctuary. I prefer books where I get my immediate gratification and a happy ending!!
This story is focus on new werewolf Luna and her high school crush (& fellow werewolf) Nikko; it is an interesting story of attraction, family feuds and self discovery. A very enjoyable start to this new series and I look forward to the second instalment.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Wolf Claimed is the first book in this new supernatural series by Kellie. We're introduced to Luna who was warned to stay away from Nikko, but she wasn't sure why, except both her Dad and brother were strongly against her befriending Nikko.
One day, Luna felt different and so did the people around her, especially Nikko. Suddenly he was pulled towards Luna and they had chances to talk and meet up around school. They went on a date and they just couldn't keep their hands off each other. Something happened at the end of their date that caused Luna to question her identity.
I was quite intrigued by this story and it kept me going for a few days. This was quite a short and easy read which I enjoyed.
(I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book)
A little bit of Romeo and Juliet. A whole lot of action. Nice world-building. Well crafted lead and supporting characters and a pretty compelling story. Kellie McAllen’s Wolf Claimed: A Werewolf Shifter Romance (Supernatural Sanctuary Book 1) is all that and a fun read too. A great start for a new series. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.
So Luna has never been allowed a lot of freedoms and has been repeatedly told to stay away from Nikko. One day when her father and brother are away she decides to see a whole lot of Niko.
She invites him out, she suggests they sneak off into the woods, she repeats several times that she wants to have sex with him. Of course they then turn into werewolves (which she had previously been unaware of) and he claims her without her knowing whats going on. So I get her being shocked, overwhelmed, scared and all of that but I would have also appreciate maybe not acting like something was done to her when she made a lot of decisions all on her own. This just wasn't for me.
Even though this book is about two high school students It was a pretty good read and I would not discount it because of the youth factor.
You have Nikko who is line to be the next alpha of his pack but gets no respect from his father. He is holding in a secret that makes him different than his father in all aspects.
Luna is a human female that is unaware of the wolf pack in which she resides. Her father is the pack alpha and they live among humans while keep ine secret of their dual natures from all of the females mated in the pack.
I loved Luna from the first moment I met her. She stand for herself, even when lost, unsure and facing things she wasn’t even thinking was existing. Nikko on other hand needed some time to get on the way to my heart. Unsure in front of his father, afraid even, but still remorseful towards Luna and ready to fight to save her (however she don’t need saving, she can take care of it). Luna was the best thing that ever happened to him. Let’s trow in some vampire, some fight, mistrust, love and sanctuary for those in trouble (which I would like to hear more about).
In this book you have werewolves that haven't had a single female wolf in many..many of years. All the sudden Luna starts smelling different to guy one in particular is a future Alpha whom is from their enemy pack but Luna doesn't know she's a wolf or that her dad is or brother and she's first born making her a future Alpha. She gets mated without understanding and when she doesn't move into her enemy's pack war was quickly upon them so they then ran away to wind up coming back way later to fight the big bad Alpha
What a enjoyable and entertaining read I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did. I for once like that we had a female alpha and that Luna act the part to the fullest she didn't put up with any of Nikko foolishness. Overall a great read and great start for a new series. Can wait to see what else is in store for this series. I voluntarily read and review this ARC no monetary compensation was received the opinions I have expressed are my own.
I loved this! It was hard to put down. We start with the MC going about normal life in high school. A guy that she's been warned to stay away from. Forbidden. Well when you tell a strong willed person no you can't do that..guess what happens? Luna goes after Nikko. He claims her, her wolf, and they're mated. Packs on the verge of a war. A mythical sanctuary keep her safe? You'll have to read it to find out!
I received this book as an ARC and am giving my honest opinion. I absolutely loved this book!!! I felt like it was so well written and the concept of females wolves being rare was a great twist. The character building was fantastic! I want my own Nikko 😍 I really can't rave about this book enough a definite read. I don't want to give anything away so GO read it 😁 I really hope there and more with Luna and Nikko. Maybe even Zander.... Can't wait for Dragon Scarred!
