If surly, growly Aavat didn't want to help, all he had to do was shrug those broad, bronze shoulders.
Surely there'd be nothing one little human could do to encourage him, right?
I just wanted to save the cute little critter...
Cute, little alien critter, but still.
It needed my help getting out of that awful cage.
How was I supposed to know how much trouble it would lead to?
Rogue Hunt is the second science fiction adventure romance in the Rogue Star series. Hop on for the ride!romance in the Rogue Star series. Hop on for the ride!
This is book 2 in the Rogue Star series and let me tell you its already shaping up to be an exciting series filled with an unexplainable mystery that i cant wait to see solved by the crew of the Rogue Star.
We have all heard the saying " still waters run deep " and its so appropriate when it comes to Shenna a human and Aavat a Shein and the second in command. When the often grumpy and rough around the edges Shein and the shy and quite human set out on an adventure their true selves emerge which brings them closer and sparks start flying as they cant resist each other.
I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book.
Written in first person by Elin Wyn & Ava York, Rogue Hunt is the 2nd book in the Rogue Star series, and switches perspectives between the Shein male Aavat and the human female Shenna.
The birthrate for human males had dropped so low that it was rare a woman encountered a man outside of a reproduction agreement. Courting was never something human females were prepared for. It was something only found in history books. So that meant that EVERY human female was a virgin until they decide to procreate, and even then, romance was non-existent. The few men alive fucked multiple women for the sole purpose of making babies and relationships were not a thing. I'm sure those men were in heaven; getting to have sex all the time with no obligation or commitment. Women on the other hand? Let's just say that I'm sure this version of our future had more lesbians than this series hinted to. Let's face it, we've been giving ourselves orgasms for centuries and we don't need a man to accomplish that.
Shenna was a troubled girl who rebelled against her strict father. Her mother died giving birth to her younger sister, Alista, and her father had skills to contribute to society other than breeding, so he was allowed to care for them (which was rare since most men were doomed to the breeding facilities and not allowed to have relationshis with their offspring). One night, her best friend Arcania convinced the group of misfits to break into a breeding facility and a security guard shot and killed a girl in their group. Shenna chose to serve her sentence on the Persephone space station on Pluto opposed to a prison on Earth.
Aavat was Chief Mate (second in command to Dejar) of the Rogue Star. He was of the Shein race, which were large humanoids with copper skin, sharp teeth and glowing tattoos.
I would recommend reading this series in order, but in the event that you didn't, here's what you missed: In the first book, the Persephone space station on Pluto (where the 30 human females were) was hit by a shockwave and destroyed. The Shein, who were nearby and on a mission to harvest ice from Pluto, rescued the women and fled the Dominion. 3 humans were killed during a job, bringing their number down to 27. The Shein harbored the humans, giving them rooms and jobs and keeping them safe from the governing body that wanted to harm them. They were looking for income, by the way of delivering shady and illegal shipments, after the Dominion declared the Rogue Star unsanctioned. They remodeled the ship and were headed to a planet called Katzul for work.
They made it to Katzul and took a job from a Pronarian named Itair. Shenna talked Aavat into breaking in to Itair's office to rescue a caged animal. During the heist, they found a questionable document. During the delivery job, they discovered that females from unknown planets were being sold as slaves to the highest bidders. Not wanting to turn a blind eye, they interviened, freeing an entire lot of alien females, now on board the Rogue Star.
First intercourse took place around the 77% mark. Better than the last book, but the author(s) still dangled the cheese for so long that it molded. The Shein have a secondary appendage just above their thick cock that supposedly stimulates the clitoris. Or, in the case of this book, penetrates the anus. Their monster cocks are lined with ridges, making it every woman's dream dildo. Oh, and they vibrate. The buildup to the couple coming together was much better than the first book, but still a huge letdown.
This book was longer than necessary, and the adventure to romance ratio was heavily unbalanced. Overall, I was extremely disappointed, and so far, I don't recommend the read, especially since I know what Ava York is capable of. I will read the next book in hopes for redemption. But if it's just more of the same, I will return the remainder of the series unread and move on.

This is a continuation about the spaceship Rogue Star and it's crew, both aliens and humans. I liked this who is story because the character Aavat, who is a co-captain alien and very grumpy. This shows how a simple change like knowing a human can change everything.
Aavat is in charge of giving task to the humans to run an efficient spaceship. He has an interest in Shenna, who seemed to be complex and maybe his mate.
They're on a planet in which the inhabitants are very rich and commissioned to deliver packages to an abandon warehouse. This seems to be weird and uncommon.
So Aavat and Shaenna are checking it out. Will they be safe afterwards and find out their mates?
I am trying not to be spoiler alerter and give away everything I read. The characters are intriguing, emotional, relatable, and erratically sexy. The plot deepens with a fast paced drama with many twists and turns. I like this story because it gives some scenario that might even be happening today. Highly recommended for an exciting and enjoyable read.
This is another exciting series. I love every one of the books I've read by this author. That being said, I had a bit of difficulty liking Sheena. She just struck me as a bit stuck up in the beginning. Aavat I could understand more. When the "lovebug" bites I wasn't surprised that he was so easy to talk into taking risks. For a poof ball pet. Now, Poof was really cute and easy to become infatuated with. Once she stopped trying so hard to be someone else and let her original personality come out, I found that I liked her a lot more. The way the women of the crew have adapted to their new life is fabulous and the guys are not as scary either. Sheena really had a positive effect on Aavat and he was almost funny. There was the constant threat of violence and being caught, plus a bit of fun mixed in with all the danger. One thing is certain, the crew of the Rogue Star are protectors and will get to the bottom of this conspiracy. I requested an advanced reader copy and am under no obligation to leave this review.
The first book in this series focused on establishing the state of the Universe and the world building, as a result the world building here is more broad brush strokes and allusions for our leading characters, focusing on details for the here and now.
Aavat is rough around the edges, an Alien cargo hauler who has never shied away from the shady deals and contracts... but Shenna's hard working nature, and determination to treat everyone with respect and courtesy has him... pausing, and noticing.
Shenna hasn't always been her best self, but when she was given a chance to start over she made the most of it... As the story unfolds, my respect and admiration for this character grew.
A done in one quick read that leaves bread crumbs I look forward to seeing followed up on in later stories, has interesting moments with Devon tier characters I hope are the focus of those stories, and reaches a no e concluding point while moving an overarching arc forward.
I loved this book! Aavat and Shenna have such a great dynamic and I loved seeing them together. This book is incredibly well written, with characters that felt real right off the bat.
I absolutely adore Shenna. From book 1, I was expecting her to be quiet and sweet. From her interactions early in the book, we quickly learn Shenna is quite perceptive, stands up for herself, while being incredibly agreeable, down-to-Earth, and humble. Yet, she also has an immense amount of inner strength hidden under her shy demeanor. She stands up for herself when separately tells off both Aavat and another girl who bullies her without being mean.
Aavat calmed down over the course of the first book, and it was a good guess that he’d end up with Shenna after he agreed to take in her cat. His POV chapters make him much more likable, as it becomes clear that he’s a bit of a bumbling idiot, and isn’t (always) being difficult on purpose.
This book is worth the read but just a little odd. The reasons for the two main characters’ first caper seemed frivolous. They do some things for no good reason, almost like they're bored, which makes them seem more like teenagers than adults. Whereas this fits with the MFC’s past, it doesn't with the grumpy MMC. What they uncover by doing these things is important and is a sensible motivation for later actions.
Their love story is still fun and perhaps this line shows a little why he goes along with her ideas,
“There was something about this woman that made me act out of character. If anyone had tried to talk me into changing, I’d have bit their head off. All she had to do was laugh, and I was ready to go.”
Last thing, the humor is a little awkward at times, like the context isn't set up enough. I suspect this will flow better as the series moves on and we get used to the characters more.
I received an ARC edition of this book from the author.
You need to read the previous book to get the background for this story.
I'm really enjoying this new world that Elin and Ava are developing. This romance is a good slow development from strangers to friendship to romance through the story. We get to see the characters as they grow closer and closer. I like Aavat, he had come across as a bit more off-putting in the first book, but he was a lot more likable in this story, still very defiant at times but he shows a softer side. I was worried that Sheena would come across as a little too much of a push-over, but she proved to have a good bit of spunk. I think Aavat and Sheena have a good chemistry, bringing out the best in both of them.
I'm looking forward to seeing who is next in the series to find their mate :)
Aavat didn't care about the humans. They helped to do the menal chores around the Rogue Star. Sheena worked harder than anyone else and never complained. Aavat noticed her hard work and finally told her. That started their friendship and he saw a different perspective of her. She saw through the gruff and standoffish to the caring and devotion to family. His sense of right and wrong plus his humor. Like sneaking into a mansion to rescue a furball creature from being abused or from rescuing seven kidnapped women from being sold at auction. You will need to read the book for Aavat and Shenna's story. This is for adults only and remember that this is the saga of the Rogue Star 🌟.
This book continues from where book o e leaves off but we follow Aavat and Sheena. The crew decides to earn money by taking a job from a rich man to deliver a crate. While Aavat, Shenna, Kaylin and Dejar at the rich mans house Shenna sees a small fluffy pet in a cage. She later talks Aavat into going back to rescue it and discovers something interesting. They later find a hidden auction that is selling women from unknown planets and a possible link to what happened to the human women. Aavat and Sheena get close and become mates toward the end. There are more questions that need answered but will continue into the next book with another couple.
The adventures continue on into this book of the series with plenty of excitement, danger and new love.
Aavat is literally the sweetest alien and also the most protective. Sheena is so funny and lighthearted and she really made the story interesting. Together they made a great team and had a carefree way about them that took some of the seriousness of their situations away despite the dangers and missions they were on. I loved their flirtiness and banter between the two of them. It was really endearing. Can't wait for the next book! I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Rogue Hunt by Elin Wyn and Ava York This series just keeps getting better and better. This is the second book in Rogue Star Series. Shenna is a human woman. I love her character, she loves creatures and she has her sights on a fluffy little alien critter in a cage on Itair desk. They are at Itair discussing a job. Shenna wants Aavat to help her free the critter. Aavat is second in command and a little uptight. I highly recommend this book and the series. I received an advanced reader copy and have voluntarily chosen to leave a review. This is my honest opinion.
A deepening story that is easy to follow, this second book in the series is easy to get into, there is a little overlap in case you didn't read the one before. Aavat is a grumpy, sarcastic, non-social dude, and Sheena is just happy to be useful. But no one is ever who they are made out to be at the beginning and as the book progresses, more of their real personalities emerge. There was some drag in the story, it was sometimes easier to skim some parts that felt repetitive, but overall, the story itself had enough exciting parts to keep my interest to the end.
I enjoyed this story just not nearly as much as the first book. It did add to the overall story but it still got like a check in book. There was no real conflict or drama between the hero and heroin of this story. Only them both learning that they like to get up to the same types of thrills. Then towards the end when there was a rescue of others it still felt lacking. Now since all series do in fact need a book like this in some way, I'm going to continue to book 3 and see how thing progress. Fingers crossed.
As with all Ms Wyn's books, I found it exciting, entertaining and just darn good fun. I knew in book one that I would love Aavat. His sarcasm and dry wit tickled me no end and I just loved how Shenna brought out the softer side of him and how he helped her accept herself and her past and become the confident within herself. I enjoyed the characters and the story kept me engaged from start to finish.
Zipped right thorough this book, and again, I didn’t feel enough time was spent developing the relationship. Also her reason to feel like a monster was, if not silly, felt out of left field for a grown woman to punish herself for. The plot moved in a different direction, so I lost interest and won’t be read on any more. It looks like it’s another 2 or more books before the plot picks up again, and I don’t have enough desire to keep reading at this time.
If you love reading about aliens; you definitely must read this one? You will love this exciting, funny, thrilling, and steamy hot five stars with awesome characters and a great plot. So ready to read the next book in the series and truly a awesome.
An Outstanding Sci-Fi /Romance . I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy of Rogue Hunt . It is so action packed and a very suspenseful . I really enjoy Sci-Fi /Romance . This story is fantastic . The story line is interesting and intense and smoking hot . I look forward to reading more in series . I highly recommend reading this story .
Wow really interesting with a growly alien and a girl who comes across as sweet.
We finally get to see the real side of Shenna and Aavat. He comes across a as uncaring, rough and tumble. She is supposedly sweet, bashful and quiet. How wrong! Check out this story to find out how they show each other their true insides.
