Could a woman in need find her hero in a jaded, grumpy alien warrior?
Between work and caring for her sick mother, Crista didn’t have much time for a social life, let alone a man. And certainly not for a man like him. So what if he was sexy, gorgeous and had the lead role in all her late-night fantasies? He was also rude, weird and just way too much man for her. She couldn’t even please her asshole boss, how would she ever please a man like Nax?
Nax didn’t like humans. He didn’t like talkative females or loud females, and he definitely did not like tearful females. He hated this planet they were forced to live on while they searched for their mates.
Yet against all odds he found himself intrigued by her. Aroused by her. Wanting her.

Ok, so it is official. This is one of my all time favorite series, and I absolutely ADORE the characters in it! SOOO GOOD!!!
Meet our grumpy Sky Warrior Nax- he is obstinate, stubborn, surly and generally not easy to please. Nothing EVER seems to amuse him, especially not the mates of his fellow warrior brothers, and certainly not the annoying real estate agent, who keeps returning back to his house, asking them to sell it!
Crista is living her worst life possible. She has a shitty house where she sleeps on springy uncomfortable sofa, lives on ramen and cereals, is struggling to take care of her senile mother and is getting harassed by her boss at work! When one night while searching for her wandering mother she is attacked, she is rescued by the local bakery owner and his sons. Soon she accepts a date with one of them..only to have the grumpy Nax crash it and punch the guy! I mean, what is up with the guy? He doesn't smile but his eyes follow her? Is he the one stalking her? Why does he suddenly want to be in her life, take care not just of her needs, but also her mother? What is up with her sleazeball boss? Did she dream about a black angel rescuing her, because Nax cannot have wings..can he? All her questions are answered as the book progresses!
Ah I absolutely adored it. I love me a tender, caring brooding alpha hero is who jealous, possessive and obsessive, yet caring to the h and all what she cares for. He is confused when she cries, happy when she is so, and insanely in love with her! The heroine is sweet and strong, and her constant chattering is such an exasperating contrast to the silent hero. I really enjoyed their banter, family dynamics, lovemaking, story and overall character development.
Human females are useless fragile beings who talk too much, are emotionally unstable, and unable to protect themselves which is why Nax doesn't want a mate of his own. Better to stay on the sidelines supporting his fellow pack mates in protecting the pack than venture out on a useless mission to find a female he doesn't want for a mate.
Crista Nelson is trying to balance her personal and career life doing the best she can though it never seems to be enough. Primary caregiver for her mother who suffers from dementia and real estate broker in a declining market is stretching her to the breaking point though her sleazy boss has offered to make it easier for her if she'd only give him some personal gratitude.
Her job is on the line when Crista's told to broker a deal on a specific piece of property for the company or she's fired. Property owned by six reclusive brothers who are overly protective regarding their privacy and don't want to sell.
Crista & Nax are like oil and vinegar as the two discuss the benefits of selling Nax's home in a booming market though there's an undercurrent chemistry that can't be ignored. Nax doesn't want a mate but it doesn't mean he won't protect a female in need of a champion.

I was so looking forward to this installment that features moody, grumpy, anti social Nax. You know the type. Gruff and standoffish with a vocabulary that is on par with "I am Groot" though with a few more words here and there. The thing is he's sexy as hell and has the looks women go googoo crazy for. Yuppers, he's all that and more which is why I wanted to get my hands on the story that would feature the girl who would crack his shell wide open.
I totally appreciated that the author didn't change Nax in personality or demeanor. One thing I can't stand is when a bad ass character does an about face when their story is featured. Gives hope to women who marry that their man will change. They don't so Goddess bless the author who is smart enough to know that and embraces it.
Crista. I appreciated her situation and applaud that she was doing everything she had to to provide for her mother at her own detriment. Many other women can relate with this in their own lives. Nax was the silver knight angel savior she needed as a partner, a lover, a mate. The laugh out loud interaction between the two was so perfect if one considers that Nax is an alien who has little knowledge of Earther linguistics, idioms, and customs. The thing is I wanted to jump into the pages of this story and have a heart to heart with Crista at one point. Vague non-spoiler reference. When a personal emergency leaves one high and dry, it's not possible to go it alone and refuse a helping hand if one wants to keep their day job. Not in my thinking anyway. That sort of situation gives the impression of a immature TSTL diva who really should get what they're asking for.
For those who are on a need to know basis, the romance does evolve into adult content scenes that gave me non menopausal hot flashes. It's the quiet ones who bring the most heat which Nax delivered in spades. 😍
Secondary characters. A mix of old and new characters with the old being Marcun, Sacaren, Brogan, Ioin, Tecan, Eden, and Frankie. I am so hoping and crossing my fingers Ioin will be next up as that man needs to be taken down a notch or two or three.
My issues. Choppy flow to the overall story with a semi awkward bad guy element. Just not feeling it for whatever reason.
This is a book/series I'd recommend for readers who like/love the possessive over the top protective alien alpha and their Earther female sort of thing. On the lighter side, a welcome change to enjoying an erotic romance with humor, snark, and suspense.
Aren't they Yummy? Yes they are, and Nax is one of my favorites, because who doesn't love a grumpy hero? especially if he is sweet, caring and tends to go all alpha on you when you are in danger? I'm looking forward to the next book
Enjoyed the story line between the H/h. Struggles and awareness of how dementia affects those that are surrounded by their loved ones. I enjoyed the connection between all of the characters, would’ve enjoyed more of an emotional pull but still a wonderful book that I thoroughly enjoyed. Looking forward to more to the series.
There's a bit more story to this one than the previous book but overall, it's still a very light read and formulaic. Entertaining if that's what you're after. But I do applaud the author in showcasing the issues with the heroine's mother's dementia.
I was frustrated with the heroine in this installment of the series. I had a lot of hope for her and Nax based on the Christmas short preview. However, she just kept trying to deny him because of her mothers situation. EVEN though he told her repeatedly it was not an issue and he would gladly take care of them both. It was also overly disappointing that when he unveils being an alien she handles it horribly and passes out. Humans already know and are familiar with aliens, she even mentions having thought about an alien as a husband before. Why was she so freaked out?! My biggest issue, is the fact on release day it was not available on KU and only for sale for 2.99. I wanted to read this installment asap and since it wasn't on KU, I didn't think it would be for a long time. But nope, just a few short days later it is placed on KU. What the heck? So I guess the author decided to suck in more cash from the people who had been waiting on this book and then dropped it on KU? That felt very deceitful if that was the intention. And these short alien romances aren't exactly books I want to own and purchase because this story isn't one I'm going to want to pick up and re read. And if I did for some reason, I could simply download it again.
You know how once you read a certain genre they all start to run together and you get a little bored, well, that happened to me so I decided to go back and read a series that I knew I enjoyed and made me laugh. Unfortunately, I couldn't remember the title, just how the hero and heroine of the first novel met. After searching through my hundreds of pages of Kindle purchases I found the Zerconians. Yes, I reread that series for the second time because of the funny dialogue. Good thing I did because I ended up finding the Sky Warriors series and they are just as funny in their interactions with their human mates. I am now following Sadie Carter and look forward to more. I'm also keeping a reading diary now so I can return to some of the most memorable characters. I'm writing this review in 2024 and at the end of this book the author mention more Zerconians in 2019 which worries me a little since there is not another Sky Warrior novel and Brogan, Tecan and Ioin still haven't found their mates.
This book is just a great as the last three books in this series. Like how Nax had so much trouble realizing he had found his mate but wasn't put off by her mom having dementia ,or that his mate think that he wouldn't, want her mom around. What I really loved about the book was just how his pack was right there willing to help and take care of him mate's mom without question
Wow this series only get better and better as it goes on! Ms. Carter is a very talented writer. The characters are strong, handsome, kind powerful, and sexy. This is a series that makes you smile and laugh out loud? A wonderful series and waiting anxiously for the rest of the pack members to find their mates.
Nax and Christa was another incredible story. This series has a little bit of everything, happiness, humor, and love, to name a few. I was extremely touched by the love, care and support of Christa's mom.
As I'm writing this, this is the last book in the series. I'm so so hoping that Sadie Carter writes more books for the Sky Warriors set. Also, would love to see them go back to Zerconia for a visit :-).
I loved this probably even more than the first two if possible. Bad is just an infuriating make yet makes a sweet mate for Crista. Can't wait for the next installment!
Really excellent book. And I loved the accurate portrayal of Christas mom. Excellent plot and excellent characters. I have read several times and still enjoy
Despite the grammatical issues all these books have I enjoyed seeing a more tender side of Nax in small moments and how humanely dementia was treated in Crista's mother.
