We Deliver

Rate this book
Six thousand years ago a Pharaoh in Egypt called in a slave and had his servants shave his head. He then proceeded to have a message written on his bald pate. It was instructions he wanted carried out by his general fighting a battle against the Syrians. The slave-courier was captured and searched for weapons and maps. The courier adamantly insisted he was a farmer returning to his fields. The Syrians released him and he continued his journey. The general had the courier's head shaved and followed the instructions. We Deliver is a history of postal services and an inside look at the issues, people and ingenuity that shaped our modern postal service. Tom Riley, a retired veteran mail carrier takes on the issues, agony, negativism, ingenuity and resourcefulness that are shown daily by postal personnel and demonstrates why America is so great in the eyes of the world.
