Big Shot by Katy Evans blends the office romance with a forced proximity and an enemies to lovers bent into a quick read! Will and India do NOT get along. India hates how rude Will is and she finally quits...but then agrees to come back for 2 weeks.

Will is emotionally stunted and I wish this character trait was a bit more fleshed out. He is so different from his brother, yet Will blames his behavior on always trying to please his father. It made him seem like a very static character. But, he does have some character growth and he gets some support from his father and brother which helped bolster their relationships as well. India is a smart woman who put up with her job for longer than most people would have. She and Will could be a bit immature in their actions toward one another which was odd since they were both successful professionals. I guess its kind of like that time in kindergarten when you liked a boy and expressed that by calling him names and he responded by stealing your stuff: Juvenile but a little adorable to watch.

Big Shot by Katy Evans had some flaws that didn't make it a stellar read for me but I think the book will tick a lot of boxes for many readers. The sexual tension in the hate to love you vibe of Will and India is palpable and the forced proximity of them working from his home really adds a layer of strain to their situation. Add in a cute baby who is teething and you have an adorable workaholic hero with a lack of social graces and an assistant who, despite her protests to the contrary, seems to care for him regardless.

Big Shot is a rather short read that was very enjoyable. I like a good office romance with moments of laughter and crazy chemistry! It is exactly what Katy Evans provides with this story.

"Big shot? I've never felt like such a loser in my whole life. I guess I never really had anything I really cared about to lose before."

India is so tired of her boss’s brash behaviour toward her that when a new job opportunity presents itself, she quits! There’s so much animosity between her and William, but it’s also clear that there’s a mutual attraction. When the taciturn man is faced with the challenge of taking care of his baby niece for two weeks, he needs his assistant back. After some hard negotiation, India accepts on her terms and the real fun starts.

William is a really aloof man and doesn’t express himself easily. That’s one of the reason he’s so difficult with the young woman, but working from home shows another facet of his personality that is quite sweet and more relaxed. India discover the true man behind the hardness and their tangible magnetism only simmers with each new day! The slow build of their romance is really beautiful. They ultimately bring the heat to a scorching level that was absolutely delightful!

Big Shot was really pleasant and procured me a few hours of witty and spicy moments.

Big Shot by Katy Evans is a sexy office romance told from both William and India’s point of view. Big Shot can also be read as a standalone but is better read after reading Boss by Katy Evans.

About Big Shot:

The worst part of work for India is dealing with her ass of a boss William. The best part about her job is having the ability to look at her drop dead sexy boss whenever she wants. But sometimes enough is enough and this girl needs to find a new job. When she receives a freelance writing opportunity, Indie all but throws her resignation and a good riddance in William’s face. So it comes to a shock that he’s now calling her asking her to come back for two weeks, he’ll even pay her double what he paid and cab fare. Sometimes money speaks and it’s spoken to the right person.

William is in dire need of help, he’s on babysitting duties for the next two weeks, and the only person he trusts with his niece Rosie is the bombshell who just threw her walking papers in his face. What’s a man to do but call, grovel, and throw in a few extra bucks in order to get his way.

My Thoughts:

Katy Evans is one of my autobuy authors. She’s been a favorite of mine from the very start. But as I learned in my reading life history, you’re not going to absolutely fall head over heels in love with everything a favorite author rights. It’s a process you have to set yourself up for. With that being said, I liked Big Shot, but I didn’t fall head over heels in love over this novel.

I liked the fierce and sassy spirit that India throws into this novel. She had me laughing and cheering her on during her quitting moment. I loved her feisty attitude towards William. She’s the woman who refuses to fall at his feet, and that’s something this CEO isn’t used too. Of course, this moment is a bit cliched now, but I still loved it all the same.

I also loved the beginnings of William’s babysitting duties. I loved how this calm, cool, and collected boss instantly crumbles under the pressure of watching a baby on his own. I also loved how he showed a softer side when in Rosie’s presence. It warmed my heart seeing this man holding onto his niece and preparing to do everything it takes to get her to stop crying. I loved these moments most.

Now onto the reasoning behind why I only gave this novel a 3 star rating. I was looking forward to the overwhelming chemistry that comes with a novel written by Katy Evans, Sadly, I Didn't feel the chemistry between India and William that I wanted. I wanted more longing glances and come hither looks.Because I didn’t connect with the main characters chemistry, the relationship felt a little off for me. I just needed more from these two.

Overall, I liked Big Shot but this wasn’t a love for me; and believe me when I say, I wanted to love the hell out of this novel. I’m still looking forward to seeing what Katy Evans has up her sleeve next. Here’s to hoping her next novel is chalked full of heart gripping chemistry. I’m still a fan for life!

The only problem with this book is that it was too short. I really enjoyed watching William and India discover each other as well learn things about themselves. William Walker runs his business like a tight ship. He is not friendly with his employees and can sometimes be quite rude. India Crowley has worked for William for a few years and is fed up with his treatment of her. When a great opportunity comes along, she quits with glee. Suddenly William is in a bind and needs India’s help. What happens next is that these two very different people learn to let go of their insecurities and find each other. I had all the feels with this book.

Big Shot is a fast paced enemies to lovers workplace romance. I was totally hooked from the very first page. It was impossible to not fall for India. India is hard working and good at what she does. While she makes good money, she can't help but want more from her life. And it doesn't help that her boss is a jerk with a capital J! William is arrogant and speaks first and thinks later. He's used to having his way and never having anyone talk back. So, when India quits her job, it throws him totally for a loop. To make matters worse, William has just agreed to watch his baby niece for the next two weeks. He's struggling to balance work and caring for his niece. He doesn't know what to do, so ends up calling India and hopes that she will help him out one last time...

Overall, I found this book to be a quick and enjoyable read. I am a sucker for enemies to lovers romances and could not wait to dive into this one. I will say that William and India's story had a bit of an insta-love quality to it, but I kind of expected that since this was such a quick read. That being said, I did enjoy William & India. I loved their banter and the tension between the two of them. It was a lot of fun watching the two of them and seeing them try to make sense out of the chemistry between them.

Big Shot was a fun read, from beginning to end. I enjoyed the characters and their story-line and had a great time just getting lost in their story. Big Shot had some great tension and banter. I enjoyed the will they/won't they moments. I loved the romance and sweet moments and the little drama in between. All in all, a fun read to spend your day getting lost in.

Assistant/boss tropes are hit or miss for me and this was more miss than hit. It started with so much history already between them. She’s been working for him for a while and he’s a hard, workaholic bossy type of dude so the h really doesn’t like him. It was hard for me to connect to the hs emotions about him and the situation; we really don’t get to see any of it and the two scenes we did see weren’t bad IMO or were deserved (like when she was late for a huge meeting). It didn’t help that I just didn’t like her either and it’s such a short book that there wasn’t enough time for her to grow on me. It bothered me that after so long working together she didn’t seem to really understand who he is. The conflict in this one is him turning her down after she aggressively propositions him but she’s drunk and she is still working for him, of course he’s going to turn you down. She was so rude and cold about it though and there was just no coming back. Idk that there was much the author could do to make me like her after that. The H was okay; He was kind of boring and played everything too safe. There were some fun scenes here that i did enjoy and I liked the little bit we got to see of his brother from book one. The stuff with his niece was adorable.

Big Shot had everything a reader looks for in a Harlequin Desire romance: steamy attraction, interesting conflict, luxurious surroundings, and a satisfying, fast-moving plot.

I’ve been a long-time fan of Katy Evans (as you all know by now, lol) so I already had a feeling that the Harlequin Desire line would be good fit for her writing style. And it really has proven to be a fun ride, first with Boss, which was about William’s half-brother Kit, and now Big Shot, in which we saw the real William, not just the business mogul he presented to the world. Plus this turned out to be a sensuous office romance where our characters started out as enemies. How can that not be a good time? Read More

India Crowley has other aspirations other than her current job. William Walker is a tough man to please. As they disclose who they are to each other is how the reader will get to know them. This is why the first person point of view works so well here.

If you are someone who likes connecting with the characters, India is much more approachable and more likable. William is more standoffish and all about business. The author makes him come to a stop when she puts someone in his path that will force him to reevaluate his priorities.

This might fit your office romance fix but it’s more about our couple’s interactions outside the office that will catch your attention. You’ll see a spark and then as the scenes go by you’ll see that spark brighten. I liked the fact that India started to speak up for herself but found that certain things that she wanted in her life almost disappear – especially when they are a part of who she is. With William, we get to see him mellow out and actually find a way to enjoy the people in his life.

William’s brother and sister-in-law make an appearance. If you haven’t already, you may want to check out their story in the book titled Boss. It must be a Walker thing because when I was first introduced to Kit I thought he was a jerk. With William I had the same impression. I didn’t see anything anywhere to say that these two books are a part of a series but family connects them. I don’t know if our author is going to connect another book but I’m interested to see if India’s friend Montana shows up somewhere in the future. One other thing these two books had in common is the heat the couples have.

Big Shot is a quick read that barely scratches the surface of Katy Evans writing abilities. It is an equal mix of sweet and sexy with a lot of character growth packed into a small space.

You can tell immediately that despite the antagonism between William and India there is also a latent simmering attraction. Unfortunately, William is a bit emotionally stunted due to his constant need to prove himself in his family. You see, while William may come from a wealthy family he has always felt like an outsider and therefore, exasperated the problem by keeping everyone at arm’s length.

So when William finds himself taking care of his baby niece the only person he feels he can turn to for help is India even though she has terminated her employment with him.

There are a lot of ups and downs while William and India battle their own emotional barriers and their attraction to each other. Part of the problem is the stigma of boss and employee relationships as well as both William and India projecting their insecurities onto the other.

With a little bit of help from family and friends, William and India move toward the right path in order to achieve their happily ever after ❤

What a great office romance this proved to be! He has a reputation for being a mean, arrogant boss and she's his PA - until he makes one comment too many and she quits. He then ends up looking after his baby niece and is desperate for India to help him again. She eventually agrees - but only after negotiating herself a great deal . . . or is it such a great deal when seeing him with the baby has her dreaming?

This is a fun read with an arrogant boss being brought down to earth dramatically by both having to deal with a baby and acknowledging his feelings for his PA. The attraction between the two is irresistible, especially as they work based in his home instead of his office. Looking after the baby is just the trigger for a fun romance where reality just has to be faced up to for them to have their HEA.

Big Shot is the next Harlequin Desire romance by Katy Evans featuring a bad boy billionaire, enemies to lovers/office romance, told in dual POV’s. It is a standalone, but I recommend reading Boss first to get more of a feel for the characters.

William Walker is the classic workaholic and worrier. He is driven, stressed and demands perfection. India Crowley seems to be at the center of his demands. As his assistant he tends to be quite the jerk to her. But India doesn’t cower. She has had enough and quits. But this puts William in a terrible predicament and so he makes her an offer….

There is plenty of banter between William and India and a huge dose of sexual tension! Katy Evans makes us work for it with a slow burn that is super sexy!

Big Shot is the perfect beach or poolside book to end the summer with! Hot, steamy and enjoyable!

This is a good enemy to lovers story but I found that the idea of a successful billionaire that couldn't figure out his feelings was a little hard to believe. But then again there are a lot of us that have trouble telling others how we really feel.
India works for one of the worst bosses she has ever had. She can do nothing right or so it seems. So when she finally gets enough and quits, it finally clicks with William that he might be losing the one person he needs to keep around.
Kit and Alex finally get a chance to go on their honeymoon and they want William to keep their baby. William has never kept a baby in his life and they are going to leave her with him for two weeks. Yeah, I don't think so, even if it is just a story. But anyway, William calls India to help him work from home while he is babysitting and she negotiates great pay from it.
Will they be able to finally tell each other how they really feel before the time is up? Can William see that India is what he needs to really be happy? Will India give William a chance to show her he can change?
As I said, I really liked the idea of the story, it needed a little more to it in my opinion. You can still read it and enjoy it and I hope you do.

India Crowley has worked as William Walker's assistant for quite a while now, but she hates her job and dislikes her boss. William has been restless for a while now, his younger brother Kit is now married and has a beautiful daughter Rosie. Because of his restlessness, he's been a bit short with India, screaming at her and being rude. One morning, India is late to work and William yells at her in front of clients, so she quits right there and walks out. Days later, Kit and Alexandra leave for their honeymoon and leave baby Rosie with William to take care for the next two weeks. William being overwhelmed calls India to come and help him. India accepts with many conditions and comes back as his assistant for the next two weeks. William was clearly jealous of his younger brother's relationship and wanted a family of his own. As India spent more time in his personal home, she realizes that their is more to William than what she saw in the office. They laughed more, joked, worked and took care of Rosie. I loved that India stood up to William whenever he was on the verge of losing it and they learned more about each other. India was a writer and she had just gotten a job at a magazine which was one of the factors that made her quit. As they spent more time together, it was clear that they were attracted to each other and one night they almost had sex. I was glad that William waited until the two weeks were done and then he made his move for India. I enjoyed the story, asshole boss falls for his indispensable assistant and they get their HEA.

I probably should start the review with sharing that I really don't care for 1st person narration- though I would not give a book a negative star rating solely based on narration, however it does play a factor in this review. I found the writing to be clunky, lacked flow and had a very informal writing style that I do not usually see in Harlequin books. Putting aside the writing style I was prepared to be entertained - yet I found both characters to be unlikable and the story was boring, leading to a lot of skimming and flipping pages. Overall, this story was not for me but maybe it will be for you. *I received an ARC of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.

This was a enemies to lovers, boss /employee and billionaire romance.. Lots of little tropes all mixed up.
Oh add in pseudo single dad (uncle really and temporarily taking care of neice) so yea trope heavy
The heroine just didn't work for me. She was too cold and calculating. The hero was too beta.
But it read easy and moved pretty fast.
I just miss my Remy type alpha. I really miss that possessive, protective and totally masculine edge I know this author is capable of writing.

Told from dual first person perspectives (William and India) BIG SHOT follows the acrimonious professional relationship between billionaire businessman William Walker, and his PA India Crowley. India is tired of William’s attitude in the office, and decides it’s time to hand in her resignation. As William’s personal assistant India finds herself on the receiving end of William’s bad attitude and emotional outbursts more times than she can handle. But days into her self-imposed unemployment William offers India a deal she cannot refuse as he struggles with looking after his four month old niece. What ensues is the building relationship and romance between William and India, and the potential fall-out as their time together comes to an end.

William Walker doesn’t do office romances but he struggles with his attraction to his PA India Crowley, an attraction that manifests as cold, emotional distant and mean. When his brother and sister in law need time to themselves, William finds himself looking after his four month old niece, and is desperate enough to beg India for her return. BIG SHOT is a story of family, relationships, and workaholic. The premise is entertaining; the romance is hot and steamy; the characters are energetic and charismatic but I had hoped for a little more back ground information about both of the characters.

Říkám, nesud knihu podle obalu, ale já se vždy při recenzi na ni podívám a řeknu i svůj názor. A teď tomu nebude výjimka, když jsem ji viděla poprvé, řekla jsem si, že to bude krásný romantický příběh, možná s trochou erotiky, ale spletla jsem se. Byl to sice romantický příběh, ale erotiky tam moc nebylo. Což samozřejmě není na škodu.

O miliardáři Williamu Walkerovi se povídá, že je arogantní a má srdce jako z kamene. Dělat mu osobní asistentku bylo pro Indiu nekonečnou noční můrou. Když se jí naskytla jiná pracovní příležitost, ani na chvíli neváhala a okamžitě po ní skočila. Už nikdy Williama nechtěla vidět, natož aby se vracela zpátky. Přesto nakonec souhlasí s tím, že na čtrnáct dní ještě jednou vstoupí do jámy lvové. Dva týdny a ani o den víc...

Tato kniha je celkem krátká má 155 stran a čte se rychle. Čeho jsem si ještě v knize všimla, byly chyby. Nebylo jich tam moc, ale čtenář si jich všimne.

Zároveň musím říct, že jsem se u této knihy dost bavila, protože se mi líbilo, jak hlavní hrdinka India mluví o svém šéfovi. Prakticky ho neměla vůbec v lásce, byl povrchní, arogantní, prostě muž, který má srdce z kamene, ale často na něj myslela a nechápala proč.
To samé platí o Willovi, který na své zaměstnance byl dost přísný a občas zabloudil myšlenkou ke své (bývalé) asistentce.

Když Indy dostane lepší pracovní nabídku, trochu váhá, ale její sestra Montana ji s rozhodnutím velmi ráda pomůže a Indy na druhý den, kdy ji její šéf znemožnil před klienty, dává ze dne na den výpověď s tím, že už Williama Walkera nikdy nechce vidět, ale co se stane, když Will dostane na 14 dní hlídat svoji neteř a zároveň musí vést miliardovou společnost? Přistoupí India na jeho omluvu a nabídku pracovat pro něj jen po dobu těch čtrnácti dní v jeho domácí kanceláři? Jak to mezi nimi bude, když spolu budou trávit čas? A jak kartami zamíchá Willova bývalá Myrna?

Katy Evans writes sassy, sexy and scorching contemporary romances that are impossible to put down and her second novel for Harlequin Desire, Big Shot, is certainly no exception!

William Walker might be a drop dead gorgeous billionaire who is admired, envied and lusted after by every single person that crosses his path, but there is one person who simply cannot stand the sight of him: his assistant, India Crowley. William is demanding, arrogant, infuriating and tests her patience on an hourly basis. Whether it’s phoning her at 3 am or not appreciating her hard work, India is not sure she can stand working for William Walker any more. This isn’t technically in a named series. I will call it Billionaire Brothers #2. There is a book that goes along with this book featuring William’s brother, Kit. It is called BOSS (Billionaire Brothers #1), also a Harlequin Desire title.

I am always intrigued by the boss/assistant/secretary relationship. I am not sure why. Maybe because all my early roll models were either mothers or secretaries. This is a forbidden romance. Maybe not as forbidden as it used to be, though. I must be working for the wrong people because I have never come across anyone in a place of power that I found the least bit attractive. It is probably due to my morbidly straight moral compass that points straight north at all times.

This was good. I liked that they waited until she was already fired and rehired for a short time before they hooked up with each other. But I am not certain why he was such a monster to India all the rest of her days working for him. I think calling him a workaholic was just an excuse for bad behavior.

William having to take care of his niece, Rosie was a perfect way to get the two of them together, away from the office. These Desire titles are pretty short. Sometimes I think it would be nice if they expanded their page count in the Desire line. I felt like I missed out on a lot of the build up since the story was told in such a small time frame.

Katy Evans does a great job of getting us sucked in to the conflict and holding on tight as we know we are invested from the very beginning. This was a roller coaster ride that I didn’t want to get off of. If you like your romances with a bit more bite, definitely check this one out! You won’t be disappointed.

This is a good enemies-to-lovers story, but I found that the idea of a successful billionaire who couldn't figure out his feelings was a little hard to believe. But then again, there are a lot of us who have trouble telling others how we really feel.

India works for one of the worst bosses she has ever had. She can do nothing right, or so it seems. So when she finally gets enough and quits, it finally clicks with William that he might be losing the one person he needs to keep around.

Kit and Alex finally get a chance to go on their honeymoon and they want William to keep their baby. William has never kept a baby in his life and they are going to leave her with him for two weeks. Yeah, I don't think so, even if it is just a story. But anyway, William calls India to help him work from home while he is babysitting and she negotiates great pay from it.

Will they be able to finally tell each other how they really feel before the time is up? Can William see that India is what he needs to really be happy? Will India give William a chance to show her he can change?

As I said, I really liked the idea of the story, it needed a little more to it in my opinion. You can still read it and enjoy it and I hope you do.

BIG SHOT by Katy Evans is a short, fast-paced read that takes place in the Windy City. It is a workplace romance between CEO William Walker and his assistant, India Crowley. They have been working together for years with William treating India like a doormat most of the time. Despite that, India is a strong woman and knows how to push William's buttons. They both work very hard, however, William is a workaholic. India spends her free time writing her novel and knows that one day she will be able to pursue her passion for writing professionally. There has always been an underlying attraction between the two.

Luckily for India, she receives a job offer and is able to quit both her job and William. Naturally William is shocked, however, he has no choice but to accept her resignation. A few days later, William is saddled with watching his infant niece for two weeks. As a result, he asks India to come back for the short-term, in order to keep his business in order while he takes care of his niece. India agrees, after negotiating a rate of three times her former salary. Working from William's home brings them closer together, and they truly get to know each other, both in and out of the bedroom.

This was a cute story and I loved the way William took care of his niece. Babies have a tendency to break down barriers, and William's ability to be a loving uncle improved with each day. Connecting with India was a bit difficult because I found her to be cold and a bit calculating. Their sexy times were hot and sexy. Overall, a solid romantic read.

India Crowley es escritora pero trabaja en una empresa como secretaria. Es independiente, segura de si misma y no tiene filtro a la hora de decirle lo que piensa a su jefe.

En cuanto a sus sentimientos, India no sabe como reaccionar, por un lado es impulsiva y por el otro no quiere arriesgarse por miedo a que no le sean correspondido sus sentimientos.

Por otro lado, William Walker, el jefe de India, es atractivo, arrogante, multimillonario y podría ser el típico rico mujeriego, sin embargo, no tiene tiempo para citas y no le averguenza admitir que está casado con su trabajo.

Él es inseguro en cuanto a lo emocional, no sabe como enfrentarse a su padre y siente frustración al no poder hacer que se sienta orgulloso de él, no puede evitar estar constantemente comparándose con su hermano menor quien para él lo tiene todo (su propia empresa, mujer e hija), y tampoco puede hacerle frente a sus sentimientos por India.

Me gustó la evolución de la relación de los protagonistas, al principio no se toleraban, luego comenzaron a molestarse mutuamente haciéndose bromas, y por último la química entre ambos se hizo tan evidente que no podían quitarse los ojos de encima.

Los personajes secundarios me parecieron un poco aburridos. Por suerte solo apareció cuando tenían que aparecer.

La trama me pareció buena, se desarrolló bien y los protagonistas me gustaron, pero no me pareció una gran novela.
Sin embargo, me ayudó con el lector de bloqueo así que le doy un punto extra.

Ésta es una historia corta y ligera con un romance que avanza lento.

While this is the second book in a series by Kathy Evans, I read it as a stand alone. William Walker is an enigma. He is a genius, a billionaire who built Walker Industries, one of the biggest online-game companies in the country; he is a workaholic, but has no social skills, behaves like a bully and to me seems to suffer from Aspergers Syndrome (but that was never mentioned in the book). India is his assistant, who hates her boss because of the way he treats her and everyone else, yet she also pushes his buttons, and he allows her to get away with it, because she is so efficient and no one else would put up with him. Why does she? Because she gets paid very well, so she can support herself while she writes her novel. Secretly, they are really attracted to each other, but don't know how to express it. When she gets an offer for freelance writing, she quits, and then feels guilty about it. William on the other hand, is bewildered as to why she quit. Then his brother, needs him to babysit his niece, and when he can't cope, the only one who he can think of to call is India. He makes her an offer she can't refuse and they get to see another side of each other. While India has no problem with little Rosie, can she tame William?

Interesting characters, easy banter and an odd plot, make this a fun read. I read a free ARC from NetGally.com and this is my unbiased and voluntary review.

BIG SHOT is a light-hearted, guilty-pleasure read that can easily be digested in a sitting. India works for William as his assistant. William has cultivated an air as a heartless and cruel boss over time, calling her at all hours and never sparing any praise. When India gets a new job offer and William lays into her about being late again, she is all too happy to quit.

William is left reeling, as he has come to rely on her over time. When his life becomes more difficult (due to having to care for his infant niece), he is willing to do whatever it takes to get India back. However, as they begin to work together again, they are both noticing other qualities that make them each very attractive to the other.

This is a pretty steamy romance. Although William is billed as the one who is impossible/difficult to work with, India really felt like the mean one here (with the backstory only described). Their chemistry is off the charts though, and while the boss/assistant angle could feel like a trope, the fact that she had quit and no longer needs the job allows it to work more smoothly here. The addition of the impossible baby is just some added fun.

Recommend for people looking for a quick, easy, and light romance read. Please note that I received an ARC from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
