When Aimee Machado is promoted, she’s given an impressive new job title: director of library and ethical affairs at Timbergate Medical Center in Northern California. And yet her first task is breaking up a fistfight when her boss, hospital administrator Jared Quinn, and Dr. Gavin Lowe argue over the treatment of a patient. The next morning Dr. Lowe is found dead in Jared’s office—making him the prime suspect.
Determined to clear her boss’s name, Aimee calls on her brother, Harry, and her boyfriend, Nick, to help her investigate. They start with Dr. Lowe’s patients, one of whom is a piano prodigy in the center of a messy custody case. But Aimee has to tread lightly—the president of the hospital’s governing board is involved in the custody dispute! And other powerful people are watching just as carefully, waiting to see whether Aimee can catch a killer who’s overdue for justice.
Sharon St. George treks with llamas to the high mountain lakes near her home—always with a mystery novel in her backpack.

Pretty unrealistic that a hospital 1) Has a librarian 2) The librarian has much work 3) Office workers are going to a place called The Bean Pot for lunch (toot toot) 4) And that all these people are cool with her pilot boyfriend and architect brother snooping around. Why would they have a clue on how to solve a murder? But the real thing in this story that irks me is how often this 20-something year old blue balls her boyfriend. Just unbelievable, poor guy.
Despite its rather quirky cover, this murder mystery was entirely quirk-less; except for St. George's running catalogue of everything Aimee ate. Since I don't like murder mysteries unless they are funny or odd, this one wasn't for me.
Sharon St. George in her new book, “Breach Of Ethics” Book Three in the An Aimee Machado Mystery series published by Camel Press brings us another adventure with Aimee Machado.
From the back cover: Forensic librarian Aimee Machado has a new title: Director of Ethical Affairs. At other hospitals this position might be dull: not at Timbergate Medical Center in Northern California. Armed with impressive jujitsu skills, Aimee breaks up a fist fight during a meeting and soon finds herself embroiled in yet another murder investigation. Dr. Gavin Lowe, one of the combatants in the dust-up, is found shot dead in the office of his adversary, Aimee’s boss Jared Quinn. The security cameras did not detect the killer coming or going. Were they tampered with? The police believe Quinn did the deed, but Aimee is unconvinced. She was present when the two men made their peace; unfortunately, there were no other witnesses. Is Aimee a suspect?
At the time of his death, Dr. Lowe was treating ten-year-old piano prodigy Natasha Korba for appendicitis and malnutrition, a byproduct of her stepfather Abel Gailworth’s cult of veganism. Natasha’s grandfather Hector Korba, president of the hospital’s governing board, is fighting for custody. Was the killing prompted by the custody battle? Or did Dr. Lowe’s wandering eye seal his fate?
Aimee’s on-and-off-again boyfriend Nick, her friend Cleo, and her charming brother Harry are on hand to help uncover the truth. What they discover only poses more questions. Meanwhile the killer is fully aware of their investigations, once again putting Aimee in mortal danger.

Breach of Ethics, the third book of Sharon St. George’s Aimee Machado Mystery series, has arrived, and St. George continues to deliver entertaining mysteries set in the fictionalized NorCal town of Timbergate.
If you recall, the main character in the series, Aimee Machado, has returned home with an East Coast degree in Library and Information Science and a new job as Health Sciences Librarian at Timbergate Medical Center. You would think that a hospital librarian would have a pretty dull and sedentary job, but Aimee manages to find mysteries involving events at and around the hospital. It helps that she has been charged with establishing a forensics collection in the library. Aimee finds ways to put her research skills to the test.
Sharon St. George has delivered another well-crafted mystery. She gives us a many layered story, with several suspects, each of whom has a compelling motive for killing poor Dr. Gavin Lowe. Was it a jilted lover? Was it a competitive colleague? Was it an underling who wanted the fast track to promotion to be just a little bit faster? Apparently, the police even have Aimee on the long list of suspects. Join Aimee and her ad hoc investigative team as they piece together clues to figure out who really killed Dr. Lowe.
Sharon also continues to build her character’s stories across the series as well. It has been a pleasure to watch Aimee, her former-maybe-once-again flame Nick, and her brother Harry develop across the pages of these three novels.
