When your daughter is everything, what are you willing to do to save her?

Cassandra is on a desperate flight with her teenage daughter, willing to do anything to get them both away from the dirty Sheriff who's chasing them. She's tired and worn down but determined to go on when she gets unexpected help from a group of men who are downright scary. Except they make her feel safe, and then there’s Black, who makes her feel a whole lot of other things.

Black is Sergeant at Arms in Thor MC, and he’s not expecting to feel so protective about the soft, sweet woman with her ridiculous plan to take her daughter across the border and into Canada. He’ll sort out her problems because he really wants to get into her panties, but that’s it. Or?

What should be a brief fling turns out to be more, but life hasn’t been easy for either of them, so they’re both quick to give up when things go sour in ways neither expected.

And then life hits them again.

Please note: This book contains crude words and somewhat explicit adult scenes. If this isn't your thing, then this book might not be for you.

re-read....yeah Black was an idiot and the scene during the separation grossed me out but I enjoyed it just as much as the first time so my rating stands. I really enjoy this author's books

Spoilers ahead,4.5*

I had some issues that stopped this from being a 5 * read for me but it's 12:46 am and I couldn't put this book down from the moment I started

Full review to come because I really need to sleep😂

**********_
Right so fully rested now on to the review

Cassandra while speaking to her daughter Desi realizes that something is very wrong when her daughter gives her their secret code. She immediately goes to aid her only child and is shocked to discover that her beloved daughter was hurt by a trusted but corrupt law enforcement official because she found out about his evil deeds. She takes her daughter and with the vile Sheriff using the law to his advantage Cas flees with a plan to cross the border. Along the way she stumbles into Sissy and Joke who arrange for her family, the high-ranking members of Thor mc, to help Cas and her daughter
From the moment Black sees Cas he thinks she's had an easy life but is fiercely protective of her daughter. He sorts out her situation making it easy for Cas and her daughter to get back to their life, but on her last night the attraction between them spirals out of control and they have sex. Thinking he'd be willing to try a long distance relationship with the woman who rocked his world Black is stunned to hear that she's still living with her husband. Thinking Cas a vile cheater Black's attraction turns to anger and bitterness and he seeks to forget all about Cas. But his father's health scare and his meddling mother bring Cas back into Black's life. When the truth is revealed Black has to win back the woman he's falling for but the Sheriff returns for revenge and his action rocks Black to his core as he stands to lose the one woman he'd ever loved.

********
Ok this gave me Tack and Tyra vibes! Cas was this normal hotel manager who turned into a badass ole lady! She was fierce in her protection of her daughter and had no problems putting Black in his place! Probably 80% of my love for this book is because of Cas, she dragged herself up from nothing to make a weird but comfortable life for herself. The way she stood up to Black had me giggling and hoping this book would never end.Certain things seemed a bit OTT but I rolled with it. When they got back together she took his explanations too easily for me but considering she wasn't celibate during their almost year apart I forgave her.

Now Black is very similar to Tack, a crude, bossy Alpha dog who became President of Thor mc. He was pissed at Cas and slept with OW to get over her 😠, now because Cas slept with OM and it's clear Black wasn't exactly enjoying himself I could forgive his actions BUT it was too crudely done! While not explicit in detail it was a gross scene at a mc party where he tried different women and still wasn't enjoying it. The fact that other men were waiting their turn with these women turned my stomach at the entire scene. This lowered my rating immediately because I really didn't need to see that mess. BUT like the crude and bossy Tack I loved Black and when he got his shit together I loved him and Cas, I shed actual tears at his reaction when she was hurt.

All in all I had my issues and really hope this author will veer away from things like that in the future but I really enjoyed this book and quite a bit of this author's works in general.

H/h hookup one night then are separated for almost a year with good reasons
They are both with others during that time
When they do get back together no cheating or OW or OM drama
h is kidnapped and hurt

And Mia Malone slams another hot and heavy mature romance home! This time out she has smoothed some of the rough edges off her characters and I have to say, I loved them, every single one!

Cassandra and her daughter are on the run. But where can you run to when the monster is a dirty sheriff and the long arm of his twisted law packs a deadly punch? Isn’t law enforcement supposed to be the good guys? Then why, when she least expected help, did she find herself feeling safe with a gang of rough looking motorcycle club members?

Clearly looks can be deceiving, especially when a fifty-plus Thor MC member finds a warm and gooey spot for a desperate woman on a mission that is sure to fail. Black is tough, loyal and has seen enough in his lifetime to know when he needs to help, anyway he can. He wasn’t expecting to fall for Cassandra or to find the fiery and passionate woman behind the soft exterior. But will this just be a fling? Will Cassandra go home again after Black makes things safe for her daughter, forgetting all about him or will time apart bring them back together when trouble brews, once again?

BLACK by Mia Malone is that edgy romance that sneaks up on you as one very alpha male, not afraid to skirt the law and one strong-willed woman find more in common than they realized? A little less raw, a little more romantic, but still filled with the spice that Mia Malone brings to the table to create a perfect escape into a world filled with characters that will make you sigh, smile and take a walk on the wild side with! Definite proof that fifty and over knows how to play the passion game!

There is a lot to like about this book.
The Hero and heroine are older, in their 50's.
Once he gets his head sorted he is fully in, no looking back.
They have older children.
Characters appear from previous series or books.
I liked the writing style, a bit like Kristen Ashley.

After they initially meet they are separated for around a year, during this time there are others for both of them, though they both feel nothing can compare to each other..... Sigh.... A tad cliche.

She dates, we only have detail of one other man scene.
He attends the famous biker parties that are referred to in the previous series and tries to have sex with several women but can't get the heroine out of his head.

During this time there is no promise of a future between them, they both have commitments in completely different areas of the country.
Due to a misunderstanding he messes up hugely that widens the separation and the reunion is worse.

There is small ex drama but no real issue with them.

HEA.

Lots of potential for stories as plenty of secondary characters.

I like these kinds of family series, where you learn about the future characters as you go along in the series. In this case we met Black and his Family in The Brothers' series. I did like the MCs and the secondary characters as well. I liked the love story, I liked the suspense aspect.
And as much as I enjoyed this book, as well as the other books by this author, I can't help but feel like they could be so much better with an editor to tighten up the story, and to proofread better.

While I really like the main characters, I love how developed Malone makes her secondary characters. The book becomes much richer that way. We for some Raz in this and a touch of the Brothers. I hope someday Black’s boys and Desi get their books. And Corinne...

I jumped into this because of all the raving reviews and how good this book was. It has major potential but it just doesn’t flow and read very awkward. I tried but DnF @22%

Black & Cas

Interesting plotline to create the meeting between Black and Cas. Her daughter being in jeorpardy puts Cas on the defensive and she makes a run for the border. On her journey, she meets Joke & Cissy and they help her out when they see how dire the situation is. They send her on to Cissy's family and the Thor MC. Instant attraction for them but the situation is a bit grim and neither one acts on their lust until the night before she leaves. As they are saying goodbye, the daughter, Desi, tells Black that her mom and dad live in the same house and he takes it to mean they are still married. He's pissed and cuts her out of his life but he's mad enough to keep moping about it.

Sissy and Gun work together to bring them back in each other's orbit and the rest works out with alot of drama at first then another threat with the sheriff escaping and taking Cas. She fights back but is wounded in the process. After a recovery, she gets back home and they finally are able to have their HEA's.

Love Thor MC! This family is the best. Black, Ice, Roddy, Gee and Cassandra make up a delightfully sweet romance. Black is a hot alpha male and Cass is a strong mama who takes care of her child at all costs. It’s a great story, hot romance, strong drama, hot alphas, sweet supportive hot alpha MC family and even Sissy and Joker and the others from the Brothers series were involved. Loved it. Can’t wait till the next one gets published. Wish these were all on audible! Strong hot alphas with strong females...would love to listen to sexy narrators.

Black is the first book in Mia Malone's Thor MC series (i hope it is a series and not just a duet). We met Black and some of the Thor MC in Mia's Brothers' series as he is the older brother of Sissy who we met in Joke. I love MC stories and i love Pacific Northwest and i love stories where the main characters are no longer young and green so Black was just right! It gives us Cassandra and her courage and her 'i-will-do-anything-for-my-daughter' and Black who has finally met someone who can stand next to him and support him in coming into his full power as a man and as the next prez of the Thor MC!

Gonna hafta rethink my stand on second chance romances. Namely I’m not that fond of them because they are seldom done well. The very fact that both moved on during that time makes it better, but I hate misunderstandings too, however I got this one and I like how Black earned her back. I like them together they both are full of it, but in a good just short tempered way.

Fantastic read !

I thoroughly loved this book !!
I could not just plough through, some passages were so good that I had to stop, savour and reread, just to enjoy the flow of the writing again.
I know that this will become one of my 'Select Collection" of 'go to' re-reads.
Highly recommended.

This one is my favorite so far right the Thor series. From moment he saw her and her daughter he was protective. I don't know what it was about black but he captivated me. I hope there is more to the series.

I have read all of Mia Malone's books...even several times. Once you start you just have to revisit them all. Having said that Black is truly one of my absolute favorites - the intensity of emotions between him and Cas is amazing.
